First the good. Great service and pretty good food. The only negative was practically every dishware and silverware was either not washed properly, or reused without actually washing the plates. I first got my drink and the wine glass had so many fingerprints and there was some kind of crusty thing on it. The waitress just brought another glass and poured my drink into the new glass (which still looked hazy). Hopefully they fix this issue because it is such a turn off. read more

Came here last night for a mom's night out with 2 other friends. We stayed about 3 hours. The food was delicious(shrimp fajitas, guacamole, churros) and the drinks were yummy. The vibe is definitely club-like with dark/moody lighting and music playing. Taking a star off for service because we had to repeatedly ask our waitress for things like water refills, appetizer plates, etc. Service wasn't as attentive as it could've been, and we felt pressured by the waitress at the end of the night to close-out and pay, which altered the vibe and interrupted conversations a couple times. read more

I was at the restaurant twice now and really was disappointed with the service. I understand that the restaurant is new and they have overwhelming popularity and living in Porter Ranch, I really want this place to be around as I do really like the food. We were given a very small table at the very corner for two. We ordered two appetizers, guacamole and salsa tasting and two drinks, that pretty much took the entire table. It was not even 5 mins, dinner came with 3 other dishes. The server just started to put one on top of each other as there was no space. I mentioned you should have waited given we can barely fit the appetizers. Answer was we just have to fit it! We really had a hard time eating as we cannot get to our food. I really hope that they consider this feedback and be aware of timing food when you know that it's a very small space. read more

We first sat at the bar to wait for our table which was an hour and a half wait. The bartenders didnt acknowledge any of us and didnt offer any service until we had to call for their attention. Once we got seated at our table in which we waited almost 2 hours for, we had to wait an extra 10minutes just for the waiter to come. The waiter was very slow as well as disrespectful and forgetful. The food was also very bland. If you want better food than this your better off at taco bell plus its way cheaper than this tasteless food. Once we finished our food and walked out we were'nt thanked by the front desk at all. You guys need to work on your service, awareness, and lack of respect. Not coming back. read more

A few things here. We placed an order to go while at the bar, and it was my wife's birthday. The 2 drinks we ordered were really good!!! Old fashioned was good and a coffee liqueur drink my wife ordered as well. The bartender was very helpful, however he forgot to bring my wife ice cream for her birthday.... Ambiance was really nice especially the bar has inside and outside seating which was pretty cool. Food was decent... I love enchiladas and the Mole enchiladas was pretty tasty but I still prefer enchiladas from other authentic Mexican Restaurants. My wife had the fajitas and they forgot to include the tortillas..... we didn't realize until we got home. Yet to try the tacos or other items. Will definitely give it another shot read more

The WORST restaurant I have ever been to. This place I believe is new and has a lot of potential. Very nicely decorated. Menu is very small. Not many great choices. Waited 2 long hours after being quoted 1-1.5 hrs max. Had to keep checking on the wait time and was always told something different. Had to keep asking for utensils and plates and water cups. They never brought out 2 of our meals so we asked to have it removed from the bill. I ordered the ribeye tacos and was disappointed. It was the flattest cheap carne asada you can get at a meat market. They brought out chips and no salsa. Had to keep asking for the salsa. Would not recommend this. Ruined my birthday dinner. Put our name down at 7 pm and left at 10:40 right after we finished eating. Had to hunt someone down to pay as well. read more

I came to La Popular last week for my friend's birthday and was pleasantly surprised, among arrival I was greeted by our amazing server Alex P. We informed her it was our first time dining at the restaurant and she gave us the full background of the restaurant and run down of the menu. We decided to take her recommendation and ordered the group Perlas cocktail and started with the guacamole and Rebi Chicharrones, for entree we ordered the New York Steak and Al pastor tacos coastra style. Everything was so delicious and our server was very attentive to our needs. She even brought out a complimentary scoop of ice cream for our friend's birthday which was the cherry on top! Claudia Rios who handled a situation in a very polite and attentive way at at La Popular restaurant in Porter Ranch We were celebrating our nephews graduation from UCLA and when we got our drinks the waiter brought the beer hot not cold as it should be! Then we asked for more drinks and got them all wrong, tortillas cold, it seemed like the servers did not know what they were doing. The place is beautiful but not the Service or food( it's our first time there) Hungry and thirsty we almost left the restaurant, but it was such a special celebration we didn't want to spoil it! I must say the salsas and guacamole are the best I've tried! Which is the only thing I liked, I ordered carnitas tacos not good at all! I make them better and original, I'm an expert at tacos! anywho I'll continue my review. So we ate despite on all the mishaps. But when Claudia the manger came to ask us how everything was we told her what happened, and she apologized immediately and resolved the situation in an outstanding way, she was adorable and full of personality plus. she went out of her way and took care of the situation very professionally! she offered us free desserts to all and gave my nephew a free meal card for the next time. If it hadn't been for Claudia I would've given the worst review. She is a huge asset to this restaurant and deserves much kudos. I Don't think we will come back here once more, I didn't try the other food but is ok, I just wanted to give the recognition Claudia Rios deserves for such an outstanding service and hope the owners recognize that she as a manager is the face of the restaurant and receives either ugly or good reviews and should receive a good bonus for her excellent service! Such a great restaurant. The staff are all so kind and attentive to you when you come and eat here. The food was so good as well. The agua frescas are delicious. You can never go wrong with their churros as your dessert... a great end to your meal. The ambience is unlike any other, and servers like Monica make it enjoyable coming to eat at where service top notch. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner. read more
