La Salsa Chilena is, hands down, the closest thing to a homemade salsa that you can get! It has the freshest ingredients without all of the nasty preservatives that other businesses use to, "extend the flavor and freshness!" It definitely doesn't have the month long shelf life (or longer) because it is fresh product. If it did last for weeks I would really question what is being added to it? With so many of the different products adding ingredients that are proving to be dangerous, we should be celebrating this company for making such a true and wonderful product. Also, when I see the containers blown up in the pictures of the review, "Yes people, that's what happens when fresh, perishable product heats up!" I would question the store who was selling it, be certain you are keeping the salsa cold at all times, or confirm that you have a fair expiration date on your container. Don't blame the product. I am so thankful to have La Salsa Chilena available!!! Nothing comes close to it's fresh flavor. And all of the different levels of heat are perfect for my family! WOULD YOU EAT THIS? For no particular reason I decided to try a different salsa. This at my local Ralphs. I chose the "hot" La Salsa Chilena garlic. I must say I was pleased with the taste and texture, and the "heat" was manageable. I would rate it nearly as high as the Costco brand, which I would rate as superior, among the best I've ever tasted. I subsequently bought several more 16 oz. tubs. The following day I noted that both containers had become bloated. This did not inspire confidence. I opened one container and some of the contents gushed out. I cleaned up and put it back in the 'fridge. I also noted that the unopened container had also swelled up, due likely to gases that were being created. The expiration date was "11/23 [23]" on both containers. (It is 11/16/23 as I compose this.) I've seen bloated cans due to botulism, and so am aware of the possible dangers associated with bloating. I immediately called La Salsa Chilena (numerous times) to alert them of the incident; to pass on lot numbers if necessary. I was never able to reach them, their phones lines seem non-functioning. This has by necessity forced me to utilize this site as a public warning; and I hope the issue is not related to slip-shod sanitary preparations on their end. read more

I'm simply addicted to their salsa. I always get the Hot from Ralphs--can't really find it anywhere else except at Crest Liquor in PB. I discovered this salsa a few months ago when I was in search of a snack food to bring to work. It's PERFECT and every salsa that I've tried since pales in comparison. The tomatoes are fresh, just enough onion, cilantro, generous helping of chopped garlic. It's also hot enough to where my mouth is in pain and gives me a slight hot flash--but not uncomfortably spicy. My coworkers laugh at me because I will gorge on it during our meetings and the smell fills the whole conference room. They also have a booth at the OB Farmers market that I always walked by and never realized was the same company. Very unassuming booth with no flashy signs. It's obvious that they let their salsa speak for itself. They girls at the booth encouraged me try their mango salsa and it was really tasty too. My favorite is still the hot though. I go through their container in less than 5 days and if I was on a deserted island, this would be the one food item I'd want to have with me. read more

I am on a low sodium diet and had to stop buying salsa until I discovered La Salsa Chilena. Low sodium snack foods are hard to find. But like some others on this site I kept finding what appeared to be hairs while eating it. I tried to tell myself they were plant fibers of some kind but finally had to stop buying it. Absolutely amazing salsa! Its the only salsa we eat in our house. My mom is on a low sodium diet because of Minears disease and finding anything good that she could actually eat was impossible! That low sodium label is what drew her to try it, but as soon as everyone else got into the container, it was gone in less than a half an hour! I have told everyone I know about how great it is! The flavor combination is fantastic. Absolutely phenomenal!
