My girlfriends and I loved this place when we were living in Westwood. Best tres leches cake EVER!! This is authentic Mexican food. The staff were super friendly. This place deserves to be packed every night! Can't wait to visit again.

Checked out this place after we saw influencer Kerry rose posting about it. We came for lunch. The place was clean and cozy. We had the chips and salsa which were great. We ordered the chicken enchiladas and beef taquitos. Both were delicious. Sauces were yummy and flavorful. Got the horchata too. Very good. Would definitely return to support this nice family business.

If you want a place where everyone says hello to you, the quac is on point and the enchilada is plate cleaning good this is your spot. It's hidden by a tree but so fun. We went on a pretty dead night. I did order a frozen strawberry marg that was bad. Basically water, ice, and juice sin alcohol. The bathroom is very clean, the space is big and people who aren't even your waiter will check in with you.

Looking for a good lunch spot? You will find it at La Serenata. I came in with a small group and ordered various things on the menu. Everything was absolutely delicious, fairly priced, and the service was great. Everyone cleared their plates. I haven't had such good Mexican food in a while and highly recommend anyone to everyone. I plan on coming back. Menu Items I tried and loved, but I am sure most dishes are excellent: Guacamole - perfect Chile Relleno - perfect Handmade tortillas - perfect Enchiladas Chicken Suiza - super tasty and this really hit the spot, I am the person who always orders the enchiladas at Mexican joints. Flan - best flan I ever had!!

We have been coming to La Seranata since they opened up in the mid 90's, yes 1995. My kids grew up coming to LA Seranata. The owner knows us and moat of the servers remeber. It a bit like coming home if your home was filled with delicious Mexican food. The restaurant has had their up and downs but now they have focus their attentions to delivering consistent homemade flavorful authentic Mexican food that satisfy the soul and a hungry stomach. My husband always order the shrimp enchiladas that have always put a smile on his face and our most recent trip he said they were incredible. The rice and black beans are not just fillers but rather well executed enhancements that you will not want to miss. They always change the rice recipe but favorite is the white rice with mint, so good. The beans have been lovingly stewed until tender with a subtle laurel/bay leaf flavor. I love the sopes with their thick corn meal disks that hold succulent chunks of beef. On my recent trip I opted for the flautas and was super pleased with the light flour tortilla wrapped around center chunk of chicken and flavorful beef. At $15 for two large flautas still an amazing deal on the Westside for dinner. It is more if you want it with rice and beans but I love you get to choose. Having survived the pandemic, owner is now afraid he may have to close unless business picks up. The economy has shuttered many of my favorite places. I hope La Seranata is able to survive because it will be hard for me to survive without their amazing flan! Don't think but run to this spot, you will not regret it.

The food- crispy chicken tacos AMAZING. The corn the best I have ever had! Now the fresh key lime pie, I could have had 2 slices. Homemade. EVERYTHING is! Please come check it out! Best Mexican I have had in a looooonnnnggg time

Cute building with lovely patio seating: from the trailing hanging pothos plants, Spanish tiles, to relaxing latin-house music the vibes were welcoming. I'm not much of a drinker though, when asked if I wanted to make my pina colada a "float" I thought incorrectly about ice cream. It was graciously explained that you take an additional shot of rum and float it on top of the drink or mix in to make it extra boozy. The pina colada is top notch they hollow out a real pineapple to make the drink and it's the size of your face! The watermelon cocktail was delicious and there is also a mezcal option. Tasted like if a watermelon aqua Fresca was combined with a margarita, there is a hint of salt that brings out the fruit sweetness. We special ordered a bunch of different proteins and vegetables at half portions to make a feast: Aguachile- Light refreshing starter, kanpachi perfectly marinated and great for the summer heat. Crispy potato- Phenomenally done fingerling potatoes. Whipped beans- Carnitas on top made this dish. Fried chicken tacos- Found the chicken slightly on the dry side, if there was a creamy/thicker sauce would be even better... nothing wrong with flavor, good mild heat. I did enjoy the fresh shredded cabbage and carrots, reminded me of bahn mi. Empanadas- Loved the acidity of the sauce that cut through the fattiness of the ground meat. Light shell. Crispy Squash flower- Delicate crunch, like an angelic version of a jalapeno popper. Lamb chops- Definition of "treat-yourself" luxurious meat lollipops. Celery salad- Simple dish but the lemon flavor and tartness really helped break up the richness of other dishes. Churros- Light crunch and small, petite dessert. The thin caramel sauce is addicting. Fine dining, for those special occasions or if you just want to splurge for a morale boost highly recommend this restaurant. Valet parking or park across the street or around the corner in a lot for $5-10.

Located between Koreatown and Pico-Union, this restaurant delivers an outstanding dining experience from the moment you're seated. My wife and I both ordered the Mole Coloradito with chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. One detail we really appreciated was being able to choose between white meat or dark meat--a thoughtful touch that lets you customize your meal to your preference. The mole was rich, complex, and full of flavor, exactly what you would hope for from a restaurant known for its Oaxacan specialties. As a welcome appetizer, they bring fresh chips and salsa to the table, but what really impressed us was when they replaced the salsa with their incredible mole sauce. It was so good we found ourselves dipping everything into it. Both meals were served with rice that was perfectly cooked with a great consistency and flavor. For those feeling adventurous, give the Chapulines (grasshoppers) a try. They may sound intimidating, but they were surprisingly enjoyable and added to the authentic experience. The staff was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and patient with those of us who are not fluent in Spanish. Their hospitality made us feel comfortable and welcomed throughout our visit. Great food, authentic flavors, and wonderful service make Guelaguetza a restaurant we'll definitely be returning to. Highly recommended!

Expect a bit of a wait, but the line goes quickly! (We went on a Saturday night around 6pm and the wait was about an hour from line to receiving food.) What I ordered: - Scallop aguachile ($17) The scallops are so fresh and basically melts in your mouth (and they don't skimp!!). The lime/cilantro sauce is so bright and refreshing and acidic - Sea urchin + scallop ceviche ($28) Again both scallops + uni are sooo fresh. Idk how they keep the scallops super buttery and delicate which pairs so perfectly with the richness of the uni - Ceviche mixto ($23) Mix of shrimp + octopus + halibut. So flavorful, one of the best ceviches I've had - Taco de pulpo en su tinta ($8) Grilled octopus + squid ink sofrito taco. I personally was not a fan of the sofrito, but the octopus was grilled really nicely where the outside is charred but inside is still tender - Baja fish taco ($6) Fried fish taco was solid, no notes - Smoked kanpachi taco ($8) This was my least favorite dish and was a bit disappointing since everyone raves about this taco. It's def unique and flavorful, but the ingredients IMO didn't blend well (smoked fish, cheese, salsa, avocado, chili oil) Overall, for such fresh seafood, prices are pretty reasonable. I'd say the fresh/raw dishes are better than the tacos. If I go again, I'd get the grilled octopus entree and skip any tacos. Ceviche + aguachile would be a must reorder!
