The bread here is amazing! I have been to LA Spiga about 5 times and I crave it. Baked goods are simple and so good. The danish didn't look that appealing to me but I decided to give it a try and it was amazing. Customer service has always been good and I have never had to wait long. At two different restaurants in Dallas I told the servers that their bread was the best I have ever had. I asked if they made it in house and they both said "no, it's from a local bakery called La Spiga." Then after hearing a couple of friends rave about the food at La Spiga's newly opened dining room I had to try it. I love chicken salad and thought a few of my favorite restaurants had the best. Quiche was meh... Cookie was AMAZING! I'm not sure about other baked goods, shelves were empty at 2PM (my lunch time and an hour before closing) Service HORRIBLE! I was not given my Coke so after they brought my food out, I had the go to counter to get it... No big deal but what was humiliating was when she told me I didn't order one- I had to get my receipt and show her (in front of a line of women). She looked and responded "oh" no I'm sorry nada! A long time ago, in a far away land, my old company used to order catered Friday lunches in from La Spiga. We had everything under the sun: sandwiches, pastas, salads, breads, desserts. I-N-D-U-L-G-E. Deep down, I still think they were trying to fatten us up! Well, it worked. I can't walk into this place without gaining an extra 3 pounds. I love that they change their daily specials to include a variety of things. Everything is good. I usually have to stare at the menu for eight minutes while everyone else orders. Today, I chose a regular bowl of tomato basil soup, a small chicken caesar salad and iced tea. The small salad plate was twice the size of my face and had a full sliced chicken breast on top. The soup was piping hot, creamy and warmed my soul. Just watch out for the small eating area (read: avoid peak lunch hour), and don't miss the bread samples on the back counter. PS - you don't need the butter. Back away. Stop it La Spiga. You're hurting my figure. read more

So glad I found this place (thank you yelpers!). I stopped in here for lunch last Friday during one of my I have no idea what to get for lunch days. I had no idea what I wanted and the cashier recommended the pork tenderloin sandwich. I got the half sandwich and a FULL LOAF of rosemary bread and a soda for I think around $10? Sweet. Once I'd ordered I checked out the bread samples - pepperoni provolone cheese bread is AMAZING. I'm definetely buying some of this next time I'm there (which will be soon). My sandwich came and it looked amazing - and tasted EVEN BETTER. Slices of warm pork tenderloin with carmelized onions on a fresh baguette with cheese, lettuce, tomato, mustard and mayo. It was heaven. I don't even like mustard usually, but it all worked really well together. Since I'm pretty much still drooling over how good my sandwich was I'm sure I will be back here soon. read more

Well, sheeit - how have I worked in the area for 4+ years and just now heard of this place? Lunchtime FAIL! I fixed that oversight but GOOD today, though. Even though we hit this place after 1pm, it was still pretty full...partially because it's super-tiny, but mostly (I'm guessing) because it's frickin' tasty and lots of people know it. Pork tenderloin sandwich, it was very nice to meet you! Go for that one, but get the half unless you're, like, Paul Bunyan - it's on a full-size ciabatta roll (a "full" sandwich comes on TWO ciabatta rolls!). And it's under $5, whaaat! The homemade chips that accompany all sandwiches are just so.flipping.good. I haven't had any of the pastas or salads, but who cares? I might never, given the deliciousness of that sandwich - so, review now it is! Know that this place is basically a bakery but with a restaurant component - there is a chilled case with all manner of dessert deliciousness (and a rack of cookies, brownies, lemon bars etc on the counter), plus tempting loaves of all sorts strewn about. Very reasonably priced - I think $3.25 was the highest price I saw, and word is that everything gets discounted in the afternoon. Carb lovers, rejoice! And also anyone who likes yummy food in a precious little place... but especially carb lovers. You know who you are. read more

I would've driven past this place my whole life and never guessed that it was an eatery. We came right at noon, and there were 3 tables available. By 12:05, there were none. Get there a tad early if you're planning on dining in. Our orders were ready almost immediately after paying. I went for the full sandwich for $2 more with the intention of saving half for dinner, but that sandwich was donezo! And I felt like shit for overeating, so maybe I'll just stick to the half order or mentally train myself to resist food on my plate. The roast beef is good, but I think next time I'll try the chicken tarragon Yelpers seem to rave about. Sandwiches come with home made potato chips; they were crispy, light, and not greasy. The salads also looked very appetizing, and the portion was massive!! I saw 2 grown ass men splitting a chicken salad. Picture it. Friday, September 17th. I'd been crazy running ragged for a week trying to get everything ready for the Conquer Chiari Walk. It's way past my normal lunch time and stopping for food wasn't going to happen anytime soon. My phone beeps. It's a picture message from Jennifer C. A picture of her Pork Tenderloin Sandwich. CRUEL I tell ya! So the following Thursday... my co-worker and I declare that we are going to La Spiga for lunch. Of Course, Jennifer joins us. All three of us had the Pork Tenderloin sandwich. Frances had the roasted garlic potato soup and I had the mushroom soup. All of it was wonderful. And then... I decided to look at the dessert counter. Uh oh. I ordered a slice of the Italian Cream Cake and a chocolate chip cookie. Frances got an individual Fruit Tart. When we got back to work we cut the cake and the tart in half and shared. The Cream cake was yummy. The cookie, well can you call it that? It was more like Chocolate Chip Bread. That was the thickest, yet still moist and flavorful cookie I've ever had. But the star was the Fruit Tart. It was like a mini cheesecake with fruit on top. Oh my lord. I will be back. This time I'll get a whole Fruit Tart. read more

Went here Friday with my husband - the French Chef. He said "hey, I know La Spiga", they have great things, I used to buy from them, I'll bet it's going to be good!". We went in to buy some goodies to take home, hubby says their Walnut Scallion Bread is to die for, we buy a loaf. I see one blueberry muffin in the case, they say it is Blueberry & Cranberry... it's a monster. They don't tell me it is a brand muffin and it tastes fabulous. You can't eat it all at once! I buy chocolate chip monster cookies (2), a bag of Biscotti and 2 other after dinner snacks. The whole thing cost $11.50 or so, why? Because it is after 1:30pm and things are marked down. The smell of the cream of mushroom soup drove me nuts. Next time I will eat there too. All of the food served to their customers looked really excellent. Remember; it's small, the menu is fairly large and nothing tastes anything short of delicious. Try it, you won't be disappointed if you like bread and good, freshly prepared food. Somewhat odd location off of Midway, but as soon as you turn onto Lindbergh going east off of Midway it is there almost immediately on your left side. I'm really happy to have finally visited La Spiga Bakery. It has a La Madeleine type feel but much smaller and far less corporate. You'll know what I mean when you walk in and take a look around. I ordered the Penne Pasta with Bolognese sauce and a canned soda. The two together were just under $11. Stepping back from the register I noticed there were no tables available, but fairly quickly I was able to poach a table that someone had just gotten up from. The wait for my food was short and I was presented with a very healthy portion of pasta and a small bowl and spoon for dispensing as much grated parmesan cheese as I could have ever wanted from. The pasta tasted great, the sauce was terrific the breads that were available were also pretty good. I was happy with my expenditure. I'll be back! read more

This is fast becoming my favorite place to get lunch in Addison. It is a small place so if you want to avoid the lines, I would suggest an early lunch (before noon) or late lunch (after 1 pm). Or just call in your order and pick it up. As for food they have a variety of sandwiches. You can either get the half size or full size...which is awesome because I don't always want to stuff myself. This allows me to eat light so I don't get the food coma at work. Until my work mandates siesta time after 1pm...I welcome the two size offerings. Also great on the my food budget Half size runs you $5 bucks max...very reasonable. My favorite is the pork tenderloin. So this is bakery..they make a whole variety of bread fresh off the oven. The sandwich always comes out with warm bread...somewhat crunchy on the outside. Excellent! They also have various pasta dishes. I've tried the penne and meatballl and it was just alright. Also after 1:30 pm...all of the bread are 50%. If you like sweet, they have bunch of cakes and cookies. Their cookies are HUMONGOUS...GOOD GOD. For $1.50 a cookie, my oatmeal raisin cookie weighs in at almost a pound...solid bulk. So get you one of the cookie as well. Overall, a real hidden gem. read more

I worked right down the street from this little gem for months and never knew it existed. My company moved, but my husband ended up working in that neighborhood and his boss took him here for lunch yesterday. Around 2pm he texted me to tell me "Do I have a surprise for you!" When I got home, he told me all about La Spiga and presented me with the Milano and the Jalapeno Cheddar breads (half off since he went after 1:30), a slice of the Italian Cream cake and left over pizza from his lunch. I nibbled on everything and it was so, so delish! My husband will be frequenting for lunch, I'm sure, and I made him promise to take me on the weekends. :) read more

This is my absolute favorite little hole-in-the-wall bakery cafe. Didya hear? Ab.so.lute. (If that made it any clearer...). Don't let the unsightly looking exterior fool you - the interior is very much a cute and quaint place to hop in and out of. The food (and the prices) are pretty impressive for an area chock full of popular lunchtime cafes and restaurants. I've never gone wrong whether I get a sandwich (the Italian! the Chicken Tarragon!), soup, or pasta. Especially the spaghetti tomato sauce - it's much lighter and fresher than your usual chunky tomato sauce but the flavor is just as strong (and even better). The artisan breads (Rustic Milano! Jalapeno Cheddar! Marble Rye! Multigrain!) are awesomely discounted after 1:30 pm. They're also all gone within 10 minutes, so I would suggest either prepping for that coveted front spot in line or just getting your bread earlier and just seeing that $2 you would otherwise be saving as a very much justified tip. (Literally, today we paid a $2 tip versus the $1.50 we saved on our bread.) The only thing you have to keep in mind is that service can be pretty slow during their lunch times, but that should just demonstrate all the more why La Spiga is worth the wait, amiriteee? (Also, definitely eat in if you can, because you'll get your choice of complimentary breads and the awesome homemade house chips with your sandwich whereas if you take out, you'll only get boring ruffles. Everytime I come to La Spiga for lunch, I tell myself to try something new. The problem is, the Chicken Tarragon sandwich is just TOO GOOD! The chicken is always perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The bread... oh man, the bread. There's just no words in the English language to describe the bread. It's perfect. The homemade chips are just awesome. I could live off of their roasted garlic potato soup. I've tried a few things off their menu and food envied a lot of other dishes ordered by other patrons. Everything comes out looking and smelling amazing. The best part? You can get a TON of incredibly delicious food for a really cheap price!! I can't recommend this place more!! I love this place. The food here is amazing. My favorite is the spinach and feta quiche. It's an absolute must-try. I've also tried their pasta (can't remember which ) and it almost goes without saying that it is also delicious. Definitely recommend the chicken tarragon sandwich as well. In fact, I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the food and the prices are pretty cheap! Oh and there are free bread and muffin samples at the back after you order. I've discovered this place back in 2010, my mother mentioned it to me, and it was literally down the road from my work so I checked it out. Let me tell you, since the first time I came here, I immediately fell in love, La Spiga Bakery is fantastic! I immediately spread the word at my place of employment, and we have all been loyal customers for years, and I continously refer people here all the time. A few favorites of mine would definitely be, the Spinach Quiche (my top choice always!), Ham and cheese croissants, the pork tenderloin sandwich, the chicken salad, and their tuna salad. (I don't even like seafood, but theirs, man, its uh-mazing!) The ingredients are always fresh, from the fruit in the fruit cup, to the freshly baked breads. I can't stress how good everything is, simple, but flavorful. On top of all of this, its super SUPER inexpensive! A few things I kinda wished they had though, I wish they had more salad options, or at least healthier options, I love the quiche, but it would be nice to have a nice spring salad to have with without having to pay for an entire portion of salad. I also wish there was more breakfast options, while the spinach quiche is my absolute favorite, their ham and cheese croissants are neverrrr ever in avail, and they are SO yummy! I come here every week and that is always my first question and they never have it. No worries though, their quiche is delicious! I just wish they had the ham and cheese croissants more. read more

One of my favorite bakeries in Dallas! La Spiga not only has the best selection of breads in Dallas, their food is amazing as well. My go to is their toasted turkey sandwich with a side of mushroom soup or their house salad with grilled chicken. I'd also recommend trying their cookies! Another wonderful place to chow tucked in the middle of businesses. The cafe is tiny and does not really have a store front, since their main business is wholesale bakery. But don't be fooled by the appearance, you will appreciate the intimacy of the place and quality of the food. Ironically, I even started my first visit with the same sandwich (chicken tarragon) and had a similar return visit choice (chicken caesar salad and a cup of the tomato basil soup). While nothing stands out as a key disappointment, it just wasn't as "super duper" as I was expecting given the reviews. And for my experiences, it wasn't particularly worth the price tag. The caesar salad was the main standout with the very unique mustard-based dressing, but it's hard to stomach $8+ for a cup of soup and a small salad (even though the small salad is quite sizeable). Also, the cream of mushroom soup I had the first time was pretty good, but very middle-of-the-road compared to other places. The breads are killer, I absolutely give them that. You could easily make a meal out of just their samples. Any sandwich on such fresh bread is bound to be nothing short of satisfying and yummy. I'm a sucker for sweets - chocolate in particular - so the brownie caught my eye in the case below the cashier. Upon bringing it home to split with my husband, it wasn't quite what I was expecting. A tad dry, but good chocolate flavor - both somewhat characteristic of truly homemade brownies, but something about the texture just didn't sit right with me. The atmosphere is pretty adorable, and small, as others note. It'd be a super cute place to sit with a book and pastry/cup of coffee (which doesn't at all fit with the geographical location of the place, so the ability to create that feel after passing through the front door isn't lost on me). I guess if it came down to it, I'd give it 3.5 stars, mainly elevated for ambiance and service (friendly during my visits), but just not a spectacular value in the food department other than having great fresh bread. read more

Ok so I'm a bit behind on my Yelping. Sadface! Anyway I went here a couple weeks ago for lunch with my girl friend and her baby. I'd heard about it before and although I only live a few blocks away, I've never visited before. It's in an unusual location among a lot of warehouses very close to Addison Airport. In fact, you can drive right by it if you're not paying attention. It's located on the north side of Lindberg just east of Midway. The dining area is very cute, quaint, but pretty small. You won't find table service here, but what service you do receive is friendly and adequate. The menu was pretty extensive. They offered a variety of soups, salads, pastas, and pizzas--typical lunch fare. I ordered a small cup of the cream of mushroom soup and the chicken and goat cheese pizza. We both shared a plate of their complimentary breads and cookies. The goat cheese pizza was pretty large and had freshly chopped tomatoes, a generous amount of goat cheese, chopped grilled chicken, and black olives on a thick and tender crust. Had I not had the soup and the bread, I probably would've finished it, but I ended up taking half of it home. The pizza was tasty, but I think it could've been toasted a little longer. It seemed like it was in the oven just long enough for the cheese to melt, but not long enough for the crust to get nice and crispy. My friend had a generous helping of chicken salad. Seriously, there was A LOT of it. And it was YUMMY: the combination of flavors and textures of the apples, the chicken, and the pecans was just delightful. She took most of it home as well since there was so much of it. If you work in the area, definitely try to get here a bit early if you want a good seat and if you want to beat the lunch crowd. And believe me--in a place this small, it DOES get crowded. Also note, they do serve breakfast, especially on the weekends, but they're closed on Sunday. read more

So glad I found this place! It's tucked away behind Addison Road. This is basically a bakery with its own production facility in the back. Their baked goods are delicious and well-priced! The lady at the counter was very nice as well. Oh and their spinach and egg quiche are so amazing...pastry was fluffy and not too greasy and buttery with a good amount of spinach as well. They have quite a few option in terms of breakfast items- artisan breads, chocolate croissant, giant kolaches, muffins, etc. They also had some small sized cakes (red velvet, italian cream, fruit tart) and regular sized cakes in the display case. Best of: Mushroom soup with more 'shrooms than soup; Potato garlic soup that will ward off vampires; sandwiches so good you want to save the last bite till next week! The B-R-E-A-D OMG!!! The cranberry muffins (big enough and dense enough to feed 2, 3?!). The fair (eh): Meatballs (not horrid, not special), fruit tart (looks so fab but it's rather bland), the worst thing? Their hours are way too short!!! And don't wait till too late in the day or they'll be sold out of loaves of bread. What an absolute hidden gem. When you're standing outside, "unassuming" is an understatement - it's on an industrial side road in a plain brick building. A friend of a friend had mentioned this place was pretty good so we decided to try it for lunch, today. What a WONDERFUL little cafe, and hidden in a very low-key part of Addison. Their primary business is catering and whole-sale baked goods but they are open to the public for breakfast and lunch. The restaurant is located in a small industrial area just southwest of Addison airport. It's very unassuming from the outside, looking like the many upholstery and furniture warehouses in the area. Inside is quite different, best described as a quaint, cafe-style decor. The menu is diverse but not overly-long. For lunch, they offer a nice selection of salads, sandwiches, and entrees, as well as a couple daily soups. They also have a wide selection of breads and pastries--they are a bakery, after all--as well as a nice breakfast menu and espresso bar. I had a pastrami on rye, side of potato soup, and shared a brownie and cheesecake for dessert. Sandwich was excellent, soup was excellent, dessert was EXCELLENT. Need I say more? The lady who ran the place was very friendly and helpful. I couldn't make up my mind between the cream of mushroom or potato soups, so she offered samples of each. They were both very good! And, best of all, all of their bread, which is baked in-house, is half-off after 1:30 in the afternoon. Can't beat that! read more

I ordered a cup of Tomato Basil Soup, Penne Pasta Primavera Marinara, a sugar cookie, and a chocolate chip cookie. The cookies were some of the best I've ever had, and both were soft. The soup and pasta were not impressive at all. It seemed the tomato soup was the exact same recipe as the sauce on my pasta. If that wasn't so, this is still unacceptable for the soup and that sauce to be substantially similar. Most of the veggies in the pasta were hot, but the broccoli seemed like it came straight from a refrigerator. I'd come back for dessert items but nothing else. read more

Many of the past writers are spot-on. The atmosphere at this place is very chic and genuine, and the bread is AMAZING, but some of the food is just OK. Let's start with the atmosphere: It's a small place, just 10-15 tables. No big groups can call this cafe home, so the sound level is reasonable and you can have a very nice comfortable conversation with the person across from you. A+ for atmosphere The bread is nothing short of fantastic. Cut a loaf of their olive & roasted tomato in half and you'll see that it is basically a loaf of sandwich. THe middle is chalk-full of garlic, roasted tomatoes, and olives - you can just cut off a slice of this and eat it as a delicious snack by itself. Their other breads are just as great. A+ for bread! The other food - well...it's just underwhelming. There's nothing inherently wrong with it. I had the chicken sandwich, and my girlfriend had the meatball sub. The meatball sub had real italian sausage in it, which was surprisingy nice, but overall neither sandwich was earth-shattering. I may have simply been expecting too much because of the bread. The soups are equally blah, and seem to be made from putting things in a food processor.
