We got Danny's Special deep dish which left me looking for that special something as it was rather basic and typical. The Burrata Caprese appetizer was not memorable and could use a few sprinkles of salt. The best part of the meal for me were the drinks - the cocktails and the sangria were tasty! We came to Labriola on a pizza tour and wow was Labriola's pizza a highlight! We tried their margarita deep dish and it was SO good. Perfectly cooked crust with a slight crisp with ooey gooey cheese. While deep dish can be really heavy and sit in your stomach for hours, Labriola's was relatively light (even though I couldn't do more than one slice). I placed a carry out order and have had curbside pick up offered in the past. After placing my order online, I called to ask if curbside service would be possible. I was told that it shouldn't be an issue and to call when I arrive. When I did make it, delayed by 15 minutes due to traffic, I was told it wasn't possible and it was impossible to even have someone bring the pizza outside the restaurant for me to grab. The restaurant is up stairs from The street and there is no parking available within a block or two. It is in a very busy area and took me 20 minutes to find parking and walk to pick up the pizza. If I would have been told that no curbside pick up was possible, not even meeting half way or even outside the restaurant, I would have cancelled my order. I certainly understand staffing issues, but not being given accurate info on the pick up screwed me over and I ended up with soggy pizza. It is a nice restaurant and has good food but it's a ruined meal and experience on this visit. read more

As a birthday dinner, I knew I wanted one of my favorite dishes: chicken parmesan. I have my favorites in the city, but I wanted to try something new for a change. Labriola might have just become a new favorite. We started with an order of rice balls. Perfectly cooked, nice and crusty on the outside with gooey cheese and chewy rice on the inside. A bit more seasoning and these would be dynamite. For our entrees? She had the gnocchi in vodka sauce, which we both found to be quite good. These little ricotta pillows of goodness were clearly homemade and perfectly light, really well done. As for that chicken parm, this brought me back to some of my favorite chicken parms growing up in New Jersey. Two giant breasts of chicken, pounded and breaded just enough, with delicious mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce. The side salad was actually more than welcome - pasta to go along with this would have been overkill. No additional seasoning needed, this was just some good old fashioned Italian cooking like your nonna would make. read more

I was really hopeful upon entering this restaurant because of the fun atmosphere. It was quite loud, which personally I think usually is a sign of a great Italian restaurant. However, things started going downhill relatively quickly. Our poor waiter seemed like he was so overworked. I don't believe they have their staff allocation down, because our guy was running back and forth and taking care of a ton of big tables while a lot of employees weren't doing much of anything. It took probably 20-30 minutes to receive the 2 drinks we ordered. It was nice at least that we got our waters quickly and refilled often, especially with it being so hot outside. We both ordered the fettuccini Alfredo. My dad's plate had a ton of sauce on it while my noodles were completely dry. Upon asking for a side of sauce so mine wasn't just dry cooked noodles, it took probably another 30-40 minutes to get a side of sauce. By then my dad had already finished eating and my dish was very cold. I honestly would've overlooked this because I'm not really a picky eater, but the flavor itself just wasn't good. The Alfredo which they said they make from scratch honestly just tasted like heated cream. It wasn't very cheesy / flavorful at all and was very very liquidy. We also ordered the cookie skillet which the components on their own were great. It was just very rich having chocolate ice cream on top of a chocolate cookie. All in all, I probably wouldn't go back to this restaurant, but it was extremely busy even on a Sunday night, so maybe someone else will have a much better experience! read more

The deep dish pizza was out of this world. I'm not partial to deep dish pizza in general but the crust on this one was bakery quality. Yum! We ordered the 12" sausage one and we couldn't finish it. We ordered a glass of excellent wine and the arugula salad to bide our time while the pizza was prepared. GARLIC. KNOTS. that's all you need to remember. Came here primarily to round out my personal experience with the Chicago deep dish classics. Labriola seems to be on a bunch of lists of top spots and is a "new contender" or something for the best of the best. So I decided to follow the hype. We started with the garlic knots while we waited for our pizza to be made (30-40 mins after ordering, pretty standard and seemed accurate). THE GARLIC KNOTS ARE DIVINE. They're more a garlic croissant with flaky layers of pastry dough that are crisp outside and soft inside, with the perfect amount of garlic paste in the center. Dip in the marinara and wow, truly spectacular. Didn't expect to be so blown away but they're some of the best I've ever had. The pizza was... fine. We got spinach, black olives, mushrooms, and jalapeños on a 12" classic deep dish. Sorta wish we'd gotten the skinny -- I'm glad to know the option exists. The flavor was good but not amazing, and the bottom of the crust was a little burnt which I didn't love. The outer crust is caramelized but not quite as good as Pequod's; the dough and cheese are good but not quite as good as Lou's. I would have preferred the marinara from the garlic knots on the pizza vs the chopped tomato topping. Had a good amount leftover that's now in my freezer for a rainy day, and I'm still excited to eat it eventually. The restaurant was on the quiet side but it was a weekday lunch. Started to get a little busier around 1/130pm. Service was friendly and attentive. Bottom line: get the garlic knots, they are life changing! Deep dish is just fine but I wouldn't say it needs to be on anyone's must-try list for Chicago. read more

My only negative feedback in the sauce was only okay overall, and the portions are far too large in my opinion, especially at a lunchtime hour. Having leftovers is nice but this is at least 1-3 portions of pasta. I'd rather pay less and have an individual portion quite honestly. Food came out extremely quickly, tables are not social distanced but masks are required until food arrives. The Bellini could've used a little less peach purée but other than that was also decent. The Cacio e Pepe my friend had was good! I would recommend that instead and the chicken parm my sister got was pretty good but also a massive portion. read more

My husband ordered the Alfredo and he said it was the most flavorless Alfredo he's ever had. We didn't say anything about the Alfredo (he had eaten most of it), and they were so busy that I felt awful even saying anything about the chicken. This is where it gets better.
