On my last visit to Chicago, I was introduced to this wonderful place, by a coworker of mine. We tend to try pizza in every country we go to, and being in our home country, makes no difference. Hahaha..... On that rainy day in late June, we had a wonderful meal. The waiter provided excellent service and the food was well worth the walk in soaking rain. For starters we had shrimp and some crispy garlic bread. Next we're Mama's meatballs, which were like home made morsels of goodness. Hahaha... Top it all off with a deep dish pizza with more meatballs that I could not waste. Luckily my hotel room had a frig and the leftovers were just as good. I would definitely go there again and .... Hmmmm interesting enough they offer frozen pizza to go. Maybe I'll see about bringing some home the next time... so enjoy!!!!! read more

Grabbed a reservation here while sitting at a different restaurant bar and not seeing anything that caught our eye. We were seated in time and had good service from the start. Very nice patio and relaxed atmosphere. Grabbed a Peroni Draft to go with the Meatballs, Antipasto Salad, and Fettuccini. The meatballs and polenta were exceptional. Had the grandsons in town for spring break and they wanted to walk Michigan Ave. We stopped in for dinner and the place was packed. Honestly didn't have high expectations as I assumed it would be a bit of a tourist trap based on the location. We all had great meals and it filled up two teenage boys. Every dish we had here was so good!!! Flavorful, cooked to perfection especially the skirt steak with fries. Would come back here all the time for that! I met a friend at Labriola last night. I live close by but has never been there. It was a great night, so we sat outside. They did seem short-handed as service was a bit lacking, but seems a lot of restaurants are short-staffed right now post-pandemic. I ordered Richie's lemon chicken and it was served with smashed whole potatoes. Presentation was beautiful & my meal was freaking awesome! I did not get their pizza, but what I saw go by my table looked mouth-watering! My friend got eggplant, but he didn't finish his. He said he preferred it a little more crispy? He said it was good, and he did not eat the pasta that accompanied it. I devoured my lemon chicken, I gotta be honest. It was one of the best I've ever had. Lemony sauce, the chicken cooked perfectly, and the potatoes fork-tender. My Margarita was just meh. I hate when it is served in a regular glass and no salt on the rim. I'd skip that here for sure next time. I'll just get a Coke, as that doesn't disappoint. Labriola was packed, and clearly with good reason! It was a seriously awesome food experience, IMHO. We were seated right away - in between two large parties of people. There were plenty of empty tables, and we had a bad feeling about being seated where the hostess put us, but we figured it would be ok. We could not hear each other at all. We waited about 10-15 minutes for a server to take our order, but no one came. There were plenty of servers walking around to other tables, but no one approached ours. In fact, one knocked into our table, not once but twice - no apology or even eye contact. We decided to leave, and I doubt they noticed. On the way out, we did let the hostess know that we were leaving because we couldn't hear each other and no one had even approached our table. She didn't even offer to get a manager to speak with us or change our table - nothing. The experience was unacceptable. read more

Okay I was really surprised by how good my food at this restaurant was. Coming here was a day-of decision after some of my other dinner plans fell through, however, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. I made a reservation around 10am for a reservation that same day at 7pm and when I arrived I did still have to wait about 10-15 minutes for my table to be ready despite making it to the restaurant on time. The restaurant was super busy and the place was completely packed which made me nervous at first, however, once we were able to be seated everything moved fairly quickly. This place looks like it gets crowded often, especially on the weekend so I would suggest making a reservation if you can in order to avoid long wait times For an appetizer we ordered the lemon kale salad and were absolutely amazed by the amount of flavor it had. The dressing they used is very fresh and flavorful and complements the simplicity of the ingredients very well For my entree i had the four-cheese tortellini and when I tell you my jaw absolutely dropped after I took the first bite. I don't normally go for tortellini, but today I wanted to try something new and it absolutely did not disappoint. Each bite was full of so much flavor, the parmesan cream sauce was seasoned perfectly, and the peas and prosciutto provided a very nice texture contrast and complemented the pasta very well. I would highly recommend ordering the tortellini if you go and are in the mood for pasta. My friend ordered the penne alla vodka and we were both disappointed but the lack of flavor it had. OMG' I always knew I liked this place! It's only a block from RMH/Lurie where I volunteer. Now I find out it's a comforting place for parents to go as their children recover at Lurie Children's Hospital nearby! The bartender , Robert, was so sweet & took time even tho they were extremely busy during happy hour! Nice when young people are extra 'kind' to older women!! NOW!!! The food! I always like their pizza but I tried their chick/parm sliders & they were supreme!! Add to this the great service the wonderful outside patio where you can watch the Michigan Avenue strollers & it is a gem right in the heart of near north! I highly recommend! And after 14+ years of a weekly trip downtown, I have tried many places! None were bad , but this place with the ambiance, location, service & fair prices...pretty difficult to beat!! read more

The sauce was perfectly tangy and sweet and there was a perfect balance of the tomato sauce and cheese. It was not greasy at all. A bit expensive, but a lot delicious! We sat outside on a somewhat chilly night die to covid caution. Our waiter and busser were both absolutely fabulous, keeping the water glasses filled, bringing bread, promptly taking our orders, and (unsolicited) telling us how long some of the menus items took to cook and which items they were out of. I chose the gnocchi bolognese and my friend got a red sangria and the lemon chicken. She said it was one of the best sangrias she's ever had - make me wish I had one. My gnocchi bolognese was so good. Very generous portion size, light and pillowy gnocchis, delectable bolognese sauce, and a blob of ricotta in the middle. I really, really enjoyed it. As a sauce person, I might have wanted a bit more sauce for the gnocchi. But that was a minor quibble. The pan pizza is some of the best around. The crust is the star of this pizza with an outstanding taste. The sausage is very good. I did not much care for the meatballs. Two or three slices are very filling. You can sit outside for an even better experience. But beware of the service fee added to every bill. Pizza Time! I went here on the sole mission to try great Chicago deep dish. I was successful. I expected to taste a gross soggy pizza that I have read all about, but to my surprise this was one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. Crispy, fluffy crust with tons of cheese on it. Fresh tomato sauce... like so fresh you get chunks of tomatoes which add an amazing refresh to every bite of pizza. After having a terrible experience the night before at Giordanos, we remembered a restaurant we walked past that had a sign that read Chicago's best deep dish pizza. As a lover of Pizza, I wasn't going to leave town without a good piece of pie. Their Chicago Deep dish pizza was one of the best I've ever had. Came to the table piping hot, unlike Giordanos which was lukewarm. Also what I like is the cheese extends to the edge so you get the full flavor in the crust. My Wife and I also split the fettuccini Alfredo which was good. I took off a star because of the lack of kids menu. We were traveling with our toddler son and there was no menu options for him to order off of. We split our meal with him. I highly recommend trying this location. read more

Came to Labriola with the family the last day we are in Chicago first let me say this is a very hard place to find the directions to this area are very confusing. That's the best zucchini I've had and it's better than mine. I'd liked it a lot. It was very tasty. I will be ripping that off and I will be making that for me and my wife in the future the toasted ravioli, they put beef on it, which was OK actually that was good. Let me say I've never had toasted ravioli like this before it had like some kind of liquid nacho cheese on it which I didn't understand I would but I would not ask for that creamy cheese was exceptional. It was very very good. I liked it. I would order that again without that gooey cheese didn'tlike the cheese. by the way, it had some kind of roasted meat on it very very good. We ordered some chicken Alfredo for the kids which they loved and we ordered a deep dish pizza. I believe it was the Sonny boy it was one of the best pizzas I had since I've been in Chicago I would order that again too, and maybe a salad because all that stuff was so rich other than that this is one of the best restaurants that I've to while in Chicago the Service there was very interesting. On a busy Saturday night where waits for other deep dish places were an hour+ wait time for a reservation or walk in, Labriola was able to fit us in and when we got there about 15 minutes too early they still found us a table. The wait will be long, as any deep dish place tends to be, but the food was worth the wait and we started off with some bruschetta to tide us over while waiting for the pizza. We had different preferences in our group so we chose to create our own and get the larger size. Every slice was delicious, melty, cheesy, and tasty. I would definitely recommend this place, especially to people who are looking for deep dish but not a crazy long wait for it. As a birthday dinner, I knew I wanted one of my favorite dishes: chicken parmesan. I have my favorites in the city, but I wanted to try something new for a change. Labriola might have just become a new favorite. We started with an order of rice balls. Perfectly cooked, nice and crusty on the outside with gooey cheese and chewy rice on the inside. A bit more seasoning and these would be dynamite. For our entrees? She had the gnocchi in vodka sauce, which we both found to be quite good. These little ricotta pillows of goodness were clearly homemade and perfectly light, really well done. As for that chicken parm, this brought me back to some of my favorite chicken parms growing up in New Jersey. Two giant breasts of chicken, pounded and breaded just enough, with delicious mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce. The side salad was actually more than welcome - pasta to go along with this would have been overkill. No additional seasoning needed, this was just some good old fashioned Italian cooking like your nonna would make. read more

I was really hopeful upon entering this restaurant because of the fun atmosphere. It was quite loud, which personally I think usually is a sign of a great Italian restaurant. However, things started going downhill relatively quickly. Our poor waiter seemed like he was so overworked. I don't believe they have their staff allocation down, because our guy was running back and forth and taking care of a ton of big tables while a lot of employees weren't doing much of anything. It took probably 20-30 minutes to receive the 2 drinks we ordered. It was nice at least that we got our waters quickly and refilled often, especially with it being so hot outside. We both ordered the fettuccini Alfredo. My dad's plate had a ton of sauce on it while my noodles were completely dry. Upon asking for a side of sauce so mine wasn't just dry cooked noodles, it took probably another 30-40 minutes to get a side of sauce. By then my dad had already finished eating and my dish was very cold. I honestly would've overlooked this because I'm not really a picky eater, but the flavor itself just wasn't good. The Alfredo which they said they make from scratch honestly just tasted like heated cream. It wasn't very cheesy / flavorful at all and was very very liquidy. We also ordered the cookie skillet which the components on their own were great. It was just very rich having chocolate ice cream on top of a chocolate cookie. All in all, I probably wouldn't go back to this restaurant, but it was extremely busy even on a Sunday night, so maybe someone else will have a much better experience! read more
