I just recently bought a 2019 kia stinger from them and that same night i found out the high beams don't work I take it back in on Monday to see if they can fix it and they come saying it's going to be a $2,000 fix. saying they can't do nothing for me. But apparently every car they have goes through a 23-point inspection, so they knew something was wrong and still sold the vehicle. I DONT RECOMMED THIS DEALERSHIP AT ALL. My son brought his 2026 K5 car in for an 8,000 mile service today, February 9, 2026 and on his way home from work tonight (2/9/26) the check engine light came on at 6:30 pm. When my son called the service department they were closed and the sales department suggested he have the car towed to the dealership. This is unbelievable and unacceptable that he is paying out of pocket for towing and LaFontaine Kia potentially has destroyed a brand new 2026 Kia K5 engine. As they say, three strikes and you're out. I've given this dealership several chances to retain my business. I have two Kia's that I have had serviced regularly at Kia of Ypsi. I have a 2017 Kia Soul, and a 2025 Sportage. Both are great cars, and have given us little to no trouble at all. We really like our cars. Strike one: We had our 2017 Soul serviced in May of last year. Oil changed and tires rotated. This was on a Saturday, and when we got home we had a large puddle of oil under the car. I looked under the car and it was covered in oil, and the access port for the oil filter was missing. I immediately called the service department, and they told me to drive it back even though it was leaking oil. Kayron (service advisor) then proceeds to tell me that it was just a "sloppy oil change", (never got a straight answer about the oil leak) and he would have to get back with me first thing on Monday in regards to the missing access port. No call Monday, no call Tuesday, and I when I called Wednesday and ask for him they said he would call me back. No call back, so I finally talk to the service manager and he said next time I come in that he would give me the missing part (I ended up buying one on line). Strike two: My brand new 2025 Kia Sportage was ready for it's first oil change at 6,000 miles. Paid my bill, and drove home. Got out when I got home, and my brand new car is literally gushing out oil. I Immediately called the service manager Mike Zasadny, and of course he said bring it right back. Long story short, the tech who did the oil change misaligned the rubber gasket on the oil filter. Lost a quart of oil just in that short time too. Made sure this time that it wasn't a "sloppy oil change", and had Mike note it on my service record what actually happened. Strike three: Just recently took my Soul in for an oil change and tire rotation. I started marking my wheels recently because I don't trust that they are actually rotating my tires. I have Michelin Crossclimate tires that are directional. You can only rotate them front to back, and not side to side. When I got home and checked the tires they had been swapped side to side. When I emailed Samantha about what was going on, she informed me that two of the tires were backwards when I brought the car in. Come to find out, when they rotated my tires a year ago with the "sloppy oil change" they put two of my tires on backwards. My wife has driven several thousand miles with the tires like this. Why wouldn't they tell me my tires were backwards when they were servicing the car or when I checked out with the service advisor? They never mentioned it at all. You wonder why this dealership has so many complaints, and why they go through so many service managers. Mike Zasadny (who was very good) the service manager I dealt with a few weeks ago is already gone too. I'm going to have to drive further to get my car serviced now, but I don't trust this dealership's service department at all. I would definitely think twice before you take your Kia here. read more

Dishonest, Inconsiderate, Incompetent, and Heartless Service - Avoid LaFontaine KIA in Ypsilanti at All Costs If I could give zero stars, I would. Our experience with LaFontaine KIA in Ypsilanti and their salesman, Kam, has been nothing short of a nightmare. We purchased a 2017 Ford Escape from Kam, who assured us everything was in great condition. Turns out, that couldn't have been further from the truth. The car came with only one key fob, which didn't even lock the doors. We were forced to pay an extra $160 for a new one. Then, within days of owning the car, the battery failed, leaving us stranded. The dealership didn't even have the ability to replace the battery, so we had to go to a different dealer and shell out nearly $350 for a new one. As if that wasn't bad enough, when the temperature dropped, we discovered that the heat doesn't work properly because of an antifreeze leak. Repairing this issue will cost us thousands of dollars. When we reached out to Kam to discuss returning the car and looking at another vehicle, he had the audacity to say it would cost us an additional $4,000-$5,000. That's not customer service--that's outright robbery. It's clear that Kam and this dealership saw a disabled man and his wife as easy targets and took full advantage of us. We were misled, tricked, and left with a car that's a financial and mechanical disaster. Save yourself the headache, heartache, and a huge dent in your wallet. I have been looking for a particular Kia Sportage Hybrid for a while. After spending several months trying to find the right car back in 2023, I finally paid a deposit and asked LaFontaine Kia of Ypsilanti to submit an order for "the" car.   Then there was radio silence - for several months.   When I reached out to request a status update, I didn't receive a callback or an email, or any other communications.  This happened at least 3 separate times.  Eventually, assuming that the information was available in electronic format to other dealership employees, I decided to try going around the salesperson with whom I'd been working to see if I could get an update from someone else.  When the person I reached found out that I'd placed an order with the original salesperson, I got shunted back to the original salesperson who begrudgingly provided about a 5 word response with no additional information several days later. Keep in mind, I paid a deposit and placed an order with the dealership in APRIL of 2023.  The dealer didn't even bother to place the order until OCTOBER of 2023.  Six months passed between paying my deposit and the actual order being placed.  The procrastination is insane, and entirely unacceptable. Now it's mid-July 2024, and there is apparently a built vehicle corresponding to my deposit/order, but the car is somewhere "in transit".   I have waited, and waited, and waited, and now I'm being told that I'll still have to pay a markup.  It's wild.  Why should anyone be paying extra, on top of an inflated-price $40k vehicle just for the honor of having a business hold my money, ignore me, and treat me as if I don't exist? At this point, I am working with other dealers to try and find a vehicle without the markup.  There's a reason the showroom and the lot are constantly empty at LaFontaine Kia, Ypsilanti.   DO NOT GO HERE. You will be treated like family at the beginning, and then as soon as you start to move forward on something, you will be ignored and treated like garbage. read more

I would not even give them 1 star, I saw a car on their website drove over to hopefully buy it, waited 20 minutes while they looked for the car, then told me it was being detailed. Finally they told me they did not have a new car, they thought I was looking for a used one. They said it was in route to the dealership but would not be in for a almost 2 weeks. I bought a 2010 Chevy Traverse from this place in September of 2021. I wanted to have the place I bought it from to do the oil changes on it. Well that was a HUGE mistake. Instead of putting the recommended 5w30 oil in it, they put 5w20 synthetic oil in. My car now needs a different engine put in because they put the wrong oil in. I spoke to the service manager Joy Diericks about it and of course she said no. I asked why they put that oil in my car and she said that they dont carry 5w30 oil. Went to purchase a new vehicle with my wife as hers was on its last leg. We were greeted by Hasina, who was kind and helpful through out the car buying process. We purchased a gently used 2023 Telluride that my wife fell in love with. Very low mileage, which I questioned and was informed it was a vehicle they sold to an older woman who no longer needed the vehicle due to health changes and that Hasina had sold it originally. (Lie #1) The vehicle only came with one key fob, we were informed they already had a second one on order and would call us when it came in. (Lie #2.) The vehicle was on empty when we went to purchase and were told they'd fill it up for us (Lie #3). Lie 1: This vehicle was not sold by Hasina to an older woman, it was sold by a Kia dealership in Ontario. This is important because a Canadian vehicle is forever a Canadian vehicle which means it no longer has its 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. That is voided when it is exported to another country. It's also important because it will only have Apple App compatibility with a Canadian phone and personal information that is registered with the Canadian dealership that attaches it to you when you purchase the vehicle. We've tried getting it to work by speaking with Kia Inc., a Canadian Kia dealership, a VPN to spoof our location, and with Kia Lafontaine (who basically told us that's too bad) with no solution. Sounds like we'll never be able to use the remote app functionality which was one of my wife's reasons for getting the vehicle. It was NEVER disclosed this was a Canadian vehicle. Not something I would even think to check, the Car Fax had no info about it being Canadian. Lie 2: There was never a second remote ordered, we've never been contacted about a second key fob. Whether this was a lie or an oversight it's still poor customer service. Lie 3: When contacting the dealership regarding the other lies we were told a manager would contact us. They never did. My wife drove out to address this in person. They filled up the vehicle, while a nice gesture, it was not the most important of the issues. They offered to sell us another vechile, but we would have to roll in the depreciation to the next loan. With no discount on the new vehicle to help offset. So I can trade in for a different vehicle as long as we're willing to take a much higher payment for the same vehicle OR they will give us a 5 year 60,000 mile warranty. Neither of these solutions solve our problems. Their smiles and kindness are just masks for their lies and underhanded business practices. This is not an organization that takes ownership for the mistakes or tries to make things right for their customers. As a person who's also in sales, I know that it's people that matter and if you don't take care of them it will hurt your business in the long run. I hope someone at this dealership figures this out and they change their ways so more people don't end up in a situation like ours. read more

Went into Kia Lafontaine to look at a 2018 Nissan Rogue for $23,991 we went in ran a credit application got the approval and disagreed on the price so we left. As soon as we left Cherif the salesman sent us a text message giving us the price we wanted. We called and told them we were going to come get the car at the price we had in writing (text messag) when Brian (manager) answered and said he wouldn't honor that price and couldn't give it to us. It was only an $11 price difference per month. It wasn't about the price but it was about they texted us a price and we had proof of the price and Brian and Cherif claimed they didnt give that price and wouldn't honor it even though the message was sent from the dealers phone number. We drove an hour to see a used car at LaFontaine Kia in Ann Arbor on a Friday. Decided it was going to be mine. It was late in the day, so we put a deposit on it, filled out the credit application (which was run) and were going to finish paperwork online. I was also waiting for payment from our insurance company. The car we put a deposit on was sold the very next morning, despite the fact that I had a deposit on it! We were LIVID! Apparently this dealership has no honor and does not stand behind verbal contracts and handshakes! I took the situation to the general manager Mr. Perry, and he was going to see if they had another of the model I had selected from their rental fleet. He found one but it was out with a customer. That was the last I heard from this man, despite several emails and calls to both his cell and office number. This whole situation and the way we were treated was just despicable. This is what you can expect from LaFontaine! I will NEVER step foot in one of their dealerships again. Speechless at the utter disregard for my needs. I've been more than patient in this matter. I purchased my SUV on January 26, 2023. I've had several concerns however my spare key is my top priority. Below is the message I emailed to M. Law. I plan to post it everywhere I can. To Whom It May Concern I am writing to express my deep frustration and disappointment with the lack of response I have received from your dealership regarding the spare key for the car I purchased two months ago. I have attempted to contact my salesperson Christopher Sutton on numerous occasions, only to be met with yelling and ultimately being hung up on. Despite my attempts to resolve the issue, Chris has not apologized for his behavior and continues to avoid answering my calls. I then spoke with Sales Manager Aaron Harding two weeks ago, who promised to address the issue promptly. Then a sales rep offered to show me to the waiting room but instead cornered me with a sales pitch. While in this sales pitch the service department could not find me to ask about changing the oil and air filters so they didn't do it. (Calling another dealership I've come to realize it is important to change the oil filter with the oil change) I came back and my car was already back outside - completely "done". Taking the car to another dealership to have the oil filter changed they asked when was the last time the oil was changed (less than a week ago) as it looked like it hadn't been changed at all!! I bought a vehicle from LaFontaine back at the end of June. I have had nothing but problems with it. I've asked NUMEROUS times for a copy of the very expensive warranty I've purchased and still haven't received it. Shortly after I purchased the vehicle it started shaking pretty badly. The first time I took it in because of this they told me there was nothing wrong with my car. After continuous shaking I brought it back in. They looked at it again and told me it was my propeller shaft and thankfully that was covered under the warranty I have yet to see. Shortly after getting the propeller shaft fixed my car started shaking AGAIN. I called to have an alignment done because I thought " I just bought this car there can't be a lot wrong with it" I called and was originally quoted around $130 for an alignment, so I made an appointment to have that done. I get there and the price magically went to $165. I agree to it because I was just fed up and wanted my car to stop shaking. I was led to understand that an alignment would take 1-2 hours. Then they tell me they think something might be wrong with the suspension on my car and that now my car has to stay there all day. I get a phone call saying I can come get my car. I was told they did nothing to it because the car needed new tires... then proceeded to charge me $165 just to TELL me I needed new tires on the car I just bought from them only 4.5 months prior... I was told it would be $165 for an alignment, not for someone to tell me I need new tires. So I left that night with my car still shaking horribly and ripped off $165. This didn't sit right with me so after a few days I try to get a hold of the general manager Garrett Henegar. I call and leave a voicemail and didn't hear anything back for a few days so I call again and was told he's on vacation which im not sure why no one told me that the first time I called because I was expecting a call back very soon. So I leave another voicemail and I finally get a call back after a few days. Unfortunately I miss the call because I was at work. Since then I have called Garrett multiple times and each time I have left a voicemail asking for him to please call me back. This started early December and now it's mid January. I have still not heard a word back from him. How completely unprofessional. Especially for GM of a successful car dealership. Like I said I have called and left multiple voicemails and no return call has led me to leave this 1 star review. I feel beyond disappointed, angry, taken advantage of, and ripped off. I had my car towed to dealership. My transmission went out on me last night. I called the dealership last night before they closed. They didn't answer so I left them a message. I was surprised they called me back this morning. When I got to service department. I talk to guy that worked at the front counter. I asked him that I need a loaner. He told me that we don't have any loaners available. I went to lobby and I got talking to salesman. I told the problem and I asked him I need to talk service manager. He told me will talk to the service manager. The service manager got me loaner. The service department has gone down hill. When they use to be in Ann arbor. The service department was awesome. Now they are in yspilanti and the service department is crap. The two best people are Larry and Steven in service department. One time called the service department to get my car in the service and they never called me. I don't care if you are short handed or it has to do with COVID-19. Your service department needs to how customers respect and be patient especially not being so rude. Kia really to step up their game on the transmission failure. You will be loosing customers and they will not buy kia. Sale department awesome but service department not awesome. read more

My parents bought my 16 year old son a certified pre-owned 2014 Kia Soul here a few weeks ago. I took a close look at the car and found that the car didn't come with an owner's manual or a spare tire. When I called the dealership about the 2 missing items, they were most unapologetic. Owner's manuals aren't required in used cars, even certified pre-owned. Manuals are on backorder and cost $55. The Soul doesn't come standard with a spare tire, it's a $300 add on. I guess I'm a chump for not noticing this earlier but wow, this feels like a rip off. I was expecting more for a 2 year old certified used car from a dealership read more

They have an answering machine only. I am now taking my new Kia Soul to the Canton Kia dealership for service - 15 miles away - they answered the phone the first time I called! read more
