This place is tucked away amongst art galleries so you actually think it is part of the galleries. I loved the location/decor. You looked at art from every seating angle while you ate. They said when it rained they pull the tables into the galleries so you actually got to eat IN the art galleries. That would be fun! All of the fish was so fresh. But my most favorite was being able to get ridiculously fresh hamachi belly which is not easy to find. And way better than toro IMO. The sushi chef (a woman!) was extremely friendly and her sushi presentation was beautiful. I went to Lahaina Sushi Ko after reading Yelp reviews when a friend wanted to go out for sushi in Lahaina. I know places in central and south Maui, but I hadn't had it on the west side. Lahaina Sushi Ko was a great choice! I had reservations for 5 o'clock, and all the tables were open at 5. We were seated quickly. The restaurant set up is interesting. The sushi bar is at the back, and the tables are open air under canopies on the 2nd floor of the little mall. You have to walk to the back of a little pocket in between two stores on Front Street (nearly across from Kimo's). The food was good. My friend and I split 3 rolls and the seawood salad. The food was very tasty, and my friend from a landlocked state thoroughly enjoyed the sushi. The best part of the night was the 40% happy hour discount applied to the whole bill! read more

RUDE Service & Bugs in Order bad choice! No ALOHA!! I am a Concierge here in Maui. I called in an order and asked for a large chunk of lemon not slices cause I am working. When I went to pick up I was ignored and made to wait to be acknowledged with one other customer in the so-called restaurant. Then when I asked the young server if the lemon was in the order. She said she didn't know. I proceeded to remove everything from the the 3boxes, no lemon. So I ask if I could get the lemon I requested when I ordered. She sent out the older lady to talk to me. She tells me That will be extra I say really ?Fine , I just want what I ordered. Then she goes back to the kitchen The 3 sushi chefs are laughing and mumbling "Bitch". I've told 100's of tourists about this spot. Really! I pay the extra 1$ and the older server then says in a condisensing tone for me to have "a great night! Chose this sushi restaurant out of yelp because of location. Right in the middle of Lahaina district! It's has different sections to sit at and we were lucky to be seated immediately. Soon afterwards there was people waiting to get seated. There was 3 of us and we were hungry, everything we ordered was delicious! In a place where sushi is easy to find this place sets itself apart! Outstanding food, incredibly fresh and great service. Set back off the main road it is a bit quieter than expected, which was nice. Not a lot of seating, so don't be surprised by a wait at dinner. Spring rolls were made fresh and our sushi rolls were made right in front of us. The portions were very generous, however, we enjoyed it so much we didn't have any leftovers. The volcano roll was finished in the oven and had just enough cheese to hold everything together and add texture. Wow! Super awesome sushi spot in the middle of crazy tourist Lahaina high street! Chef Sarah is very professional and a delight to be around while enjoying delicious sushi! The rest of the staff are also super welcoming and friendly. Great little spot! Our friends who live on Maui took us here after drinks at the Lahaina Yacht Club which is directly across the street. Fun night and good times! I'm glad we got to sit right at the sushi bar! Will definitely come back if we get out here again! I don't recall the names of the dishes we had but they were all yummy! Hands down the best sushi I've had in a very long while. We ordered the Lahaina Roll, Caterpillar roll, Spider roll, Beauty and The Beast roll, California roll, pot stickers (gyoza), and edamame. Everything was delicious, only complaint isn't really a complaint. Most of the rolls were covered in the spicy mayo sauce which was a tad overpowering. The sushi spoke for itself and was incredibly fresh! It doesn't need all the added sauce, so maybe ask for it on the side. The edamame had cotija (cheese) sprinkled on top, which was a new twist for us - never had cheese on edamame before, but it was delightful! read more

We ate there for dinner. Hostess greeted us and seated us. The setting was lovely. Galleries with colorful and beautiful pictures surrounded us. A Japanese style sushi restaurant That what struck me on the menu cover If you looking for authentic sushi this is not the place. The charashi we ordered did not lack in quantity. It was that the rice was not well seasoned with vinegar and there were picked daikon (korean) that we're scattered in the bowl as well. This fish was also quite surprise that they selected. White tuna aka Escobar that Japan does not recommend you eating was in there. Beautiful display of the sushi!!! And it tastes just as good as it looks. It's an all outdoor place but it's shaded so you can enjoy your sushi while not sweating. Only a couple tables so you may have to wait to eat, although I didn't have to. Overall delicious...I would return again. read more

The new executive chef is amazing! One of the best sushi chefs I've ever encountered. The menu is classic and understated, but delicious. Absolutely the best edamame I've ever had (and I know that's a simple dish, but simply delicious--she got it right!) I meant to take a picture of the poke tacos, but I ate them too quickly. Sorry. The ambiance is surprisingly chic for what amounts to a little hole in the wall off Lahaina's bustling restaurant row. Limited seating. Food is pretty solid. Sashimi pieces were large. Sashimi and sushi were better than rolls. Came during covid for pickup. The waitstaff said wait would be 20 minute for takeout so ordered and waited at the restaurant. Did not start preparing the food until 20 minutes in and gave an order to a person who ordered after mine first. Food ended up taking 50 minutes for 2 people's order. Completely understand that it's busy but 1. You cannot ignore the customers (I tried to ask for status 30 minutes in and the waitstaff was actively avoiding me or saying the food is ready when it clearly was not ready) 2. Be more realistic with the wait time (if I knew this was going to take 50 minutes to wait for takeout at the restaurant, I would have not ordered) 3. Provide update if you think it's going to take a long time. Food aside, the restaurant can improve significantly with just alerting customers on wait time and not ignoring the customers. read more
