This is one of the worst run restaurants in mammoth. It is unfortunate that when the village was built Interwest allowed so many horrible restaurants to sign leases. Place was not busy. It took 45 minutes and then kids food arrived three tiny fried shrimp with cold fries. We have been wanting to come to this place for awhile...I'm so glad we did! They have an excellent happy hour! We got the homemade fries with cheese curds and homemade gravy! These are to die for! We also got mai tais...they were ok. We had the bar tender make us kahiki kais. Truly the best tiki drink around. I call it heavens drink. I like the paintings they had hanging up. We will go back when we're in mammoth. Nice place! read more

Been sitting at a table for over 30 minutes... not one person has come to take our order or even give us a menu. I had to go to the bar to get my own drinks and the bar staff was pretty rude. Yuck! Crab Rangoon appetizer was so sloppy and cold in the middle. Got the poke bowl which has a meager amount of rice and headings of those cellophane type decorative noodles- tasted gross! Been there plenty of times, I dont live up there but I like to go there cause its my home away from home! well others go to Mammoth for Skiing, I actually go for fishing! I cant imagine anyone would go to Mammoth for bars or night life... I gave it a rating of 3 only because one of the times I went there I left my ID at the bar (they held it for the pool table) and I left w/o getting it... trying to get it back was not fun! All of the staff were no help at all and didnt give two sh** that i lost my I.D., even the guy who took it! Its a cool place cause its right in the town and right by where I rent out there! Not a bad place to visit, just depends on when you go! Drinks arent bad, crowd can be lame depending on when you go... I have had good times there though so my suggestion is to try it out and see for yourself! And for ALISHA H. (Mammoth Lakes)... don't flatter yourself! Lakanuki is just a laid back and fun place to go! The food is good and the prices are unbeatable for the area. The crowd is young and fun. They have a wonderful happy hour drink and food menu with most items listed at 50% off or more. If you are expecting over the top, wait on you hand and foot, staff - this isn't the place for you. If you are looking for a place where the staff is laid back and the food is good at a great price - this is the place! We visited Lakanuki 2 out of the 4 nights that we have spent in Mammoth, and may even go back again before the week is over. read more

I dont get these reviews here. This is a great spot for nightlife after a day of skiing. Great music with quality DJ's. Alot of fun can be had here. Is it a restaurant like the steakhouse at The Bellagio Hotel in Vegas? Probably not, but really, its a great spot for nightlife in Mammoth. The prettiest girls go their for dancing, you skiers better support this place, because its a great place to meet women and party the night away. It would really suck if this place went under, I support Lakanuki, have been going their for years and will go their every night when visiting Mammoth. Get a dose of reality yelpers. We gave this place a chance, no one waiting should have been our first sign. Service was horrible, how can multiple employees be so rude? Are they that unhappy? Food is basic and not worth any price. We should have seen no one visiting this establishment as a sign, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else! read more

First of all- there were locals putting drinks on my tab. When I confronted the bartender / manager he told me that I was wrong and I had in deed drank $150 of liquor in 30 seconds. I later found out that the bartender was roommates with the guys putting drinks on my tab. Then they all picked a fight with me. In self defense I knocked them out but that is just where all my problems started. This seems to be a consistent problem in this bar. If you are looking for trouble- go to "lack of nuki". You will not get laid but you will find some scumbag locals to give you a hard time. Beware of the sleezy bartender and his three addict roommates at the end of the bar. It was kind of like a scene from deliverence except in the end- I made them squeal like the piggies they are. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOW CLASS ESTABLISHMENT! read more

They should rename this place LACK-OF-NOOKIE for the single guys...cuz this place is home to the world's biggest sausage fest ever imaginable. This was one of the worst places I have ever eaten. First off it took 35 minutes for our waters to come out. We ordered the pulled pork nachos for an appetizer and the pulled pork sandwich for the main course. The nachos were the driest thing I have ever eaten, the cheese wasn't melted at all and the pork was fatty and scarce. The pulled pork sandwich had barely any pork on it, it was all either cartilage or fatty pieces. The server was upset that we did not want to pay for the food that we clearly didn't eat. was here on new year's eve for happy hour with a group of 14. i'll admit, we came in with the sole purpose of getting drunk to start off the long night of partying ahead. the happy hour deals here are just that: great deals! normally the hh menu consists of $5 food and $3.50 drinks. but since it was new years eve, their kitchen was closed and they only had either soup, salad or pizza, each for $4. drink specials were the same as usual. i had some chili, and it was pretty good. just the right amount of protein that i needed after a long 7 hour nonstop day on the slopes. then i proceeded to double fist a maitai and a margarita. and lemme tell you, at $3.50 a piece, those were some reaaalllyyyy strong drinks. and if you know me, i don't say that lightly. it's pretty awesome that the bartenders don't skimp on alcohol just cuz it's hh. for our group of 14, our hh bill came out to almost $300. now just imagine how many empty glasses were on our table by the end. our waitress had the cutest australian accent. mammoth seems to employ a lot of people from australia during the winter months. but that's besides the point. this place seems like your typical sports bar. really loud and rowdy, so our group fit right in. for families with children, i don't suggest coming in here during happy hour.. it's not really age-appropriate. service is pretty bad, it's hard to get ahold of someone to take your order - but i'm not sure if it's always like this, or just that they were severely understaffed on new year's eve. read more

Rice was under cooked, mac salad had no flavor, pulled pork looked like a sloppy joe and i dont even have anything to say about the Philly cheese steak... we came to the village with a group of six and everywhere had more than a hour wait, now we know why we were seated right away. I haven't tried the food here in forever, but the happy hour beer prices are on point! $4 for pints - that's quite a bit less than Mammoth Brewing down the street. Service was fine. It's obviously a touristy spot, so that's what you should be expecting here. read more

I made the mistake of not reading the reviews before heading into this place like I would normally do. Big mistake! Go to Toomey's, Stove's, Angel's, ANYWHERE instead! I don't mind paying $100 for 2 adults and 2 kids for a meal if the food was good but this place was a waste of money. To top it off, it's was my 13 year old's Birthday! He didn't want us to make a fuss because he picked this place and thought it would be good since it was located in The Village. The fish tacos were so bland and the tortilla was soggy like it was sitting there for awhile before serving. It came with mango salsa which I was told by the waitress was something of a specialty of theirs but ended up SOOOO very salty. It was like pouring PURE SALT down my throat! Maybe they counted on that salsa to bring life to the fish tacos? My son ordered the grilled flat iron steak medium well. He received it more like medium rare and it was so tough. The other child ordered a burger and it was almost burnt but he was so hungry he ate it up. Hubby ordered the Loco Moco. Only item you could taste was the gravy. Patty was overcooked (ordered medium). They also screwed up on the best part of this dish, the egg. Fried way too much, yolk was fully cooked. It should be over easy, runny and creamy to spread over the rice and patty. The only item that was edible was the kalua pork nachos. Even though some of the food was barely eaten, the waitress didn't make any effort to question what was wrong. Yes, I really should have said something. But when I saw my child so disappointed and complaining will only make him burst into tears on his special day, I kept my mouth shut. read more

Came here on thanksgiving. Glad they were open. This was our first time to Mammoth & we were traveling with our dog so it's hard to find a pet friendly place. They had a beautiful patio & my dog got to relax on the wicker patio chair. I was delighted they allowed her on the furniture as she is a picky princess & won't sit on the cold hard cement. The staff was so friendly & great service. The blonde lady & the lady from the Netherlands or New Zealand, sorry I can't remember which she said. They were so awesome to us & especially to our dog. My drink (runner rum) was good but the food I received wasn't up to par. I ordered the steak luau, the rice was awful (dry & hard) like it was sitting in a bowl all night. Salad was over dressed, mac salad was very bland. Hints the four star review. Would have gave 5 if the food was better. Price wasn't bad it was reasonable. Thank goodness for the wonderful ladies, keep up the friendly service but work on the food! read more

Good Luck Laka -"puke-i" !! LOL! I *used* to take my family here for a great happy hour. It became a tradition as we arrived in Mammoth - which we visit 4-5 times a year. The last time we visited, (Nov.2014) we were presented with a new updated happy hour menu. (Actually, not a "happy hour" menu, but items on the regular menu that have been measly discounted). Unfortunately, they had neglected to update their website that we were looking at early that day to inform us of this. What a surprise! Well, as always, we were optimistic and expected that it would be similar in quality and price from their previous menu items... Whoops... WRONG ! Horrible, almost uneatable food now. The wings I ordered were tough as leather, cold, and flavorless. Nachos were also cold, flavorless, and the cheese was like plastic. So delicious! And no longer at the great $5 price,. This was not the same quality as what we have enjoyed MANY times previously. My kids could barely finish their food. What a disappointment.. Oh well.. I'm not sure what has happened .. New management, new owners,, who knows? I really don't mind spending more $$ if the food is good, but even if this was offered as a free sample, we wouldn't have finished it. Service was slow, which we don't really mind since we're on Mammoth time when visiting. Time to find a new place to spend our Happy Hour $$$. It's interesting to see many other one-star ratings. I can see why their rating was below par. I sat at the bar and immediately notice the sparse number of customers on a Labor Day weekend. The bartender was very friendly and provided quick service. Food came in a timely manner but was disappointing over all. I ordered the seared ahi over jasmine rice. I expected frozen ahi that was thawed and seated. But not the dryness that was served. Over cooked even though pink in the middle. A sauce was sprinkled to cover and it was salty and much too strong. The rice was dry even for jasmine. My fries and onion rings was huge and enough for a party of three but fries were soggy and not salted. My recommendation to the chef would be lightly sear ahi and change sauce to light wasabi teriyaki. Serve a jasmine mixed with shout grain rice. Serve fries shortly after they are fried. read more

Lakanuki is a disgrace to the tiki gods. There is no spirit of aloha, just drunken locals. Beyond the mai tai, the people who work there couldn't tell you the difference between a navy grog and a zombie. They don't play Polynesian or any tropical music, just bad techno. Used to love coming to this place some years ago. Don't know what happened but it isn't good. First, the service is horrible. To the guy that is always behind the bar with the baseball hat and scruffy face, can you at least pretend to enjoy your job? I don't know why you have a chip on your shoulder but leave it at home. We had to get up several times from our outside seats to get service when there wasn't more than 2-3 other guests. Food was OK... Overall, from our most recent experiences here, the staff just doesn't seem to care about their customers. I will say that the other guy with the longer hair that tends bar has always been great. Other than that... Hope to see some improvements next time we are up there. read more

How to begin; Oh, I should have read Yelp before going here. The one star is for the bar side of the restaurant; fair selection of beer and large maitais. The food was the worst. Cheap frozen food that has been flash fried and thrown on a plate. The only reason the ribs were not the worst I have ever been served in a restaurant is they were tender. The service was not the worst but sketchy at best. People pucking in the restroom at 6:00 pm?? If you want to get drunk with other drunks, this is your place. If you want to eat or enjoy an evening without pucking people go anywhere else. They should stop serving food and stick to being a crazy, druken bar. read more
