Was out with family on vacation at Lake Winnipesaukee. We stopped in to have lunch and then later - drinks & appetizers at this delightful place. Beautiful atmosphere, amazing food & drink and a super responsive and friendly staff. This restaurant was a surprise! I was up a for grandparents weekend and stayed at a cottage on site right on the lake. We went to dinner late we had a great waitress that was leaving after this season and going out to California! We talked about that for a while as we had in our group a person from California. Now back to the food there was a special of a wonderful salad with a piece of salmon on it! Two of my friends ordered and finished it ahhing at how great it was! I was not up for the salad and I went with the scallops! Oh my they were perfect! Just the right amount of scallops, veggies and pearl Couscous! The pea pods were young and perfectly cooked! Church Landing or the Lakehouse Grille is an excellent restaurant / spa for all events. A few of our friends have had wedding receptions here; and we've devoured plenty of Sunday brunches. Wonderful atmosphere, typically they have a couple of dudes strumming away on a guitar or stand up bass, and the service is always friendly and attentive. Lakehouse Grille is one of many many restaurants in the Common Man monopoly of NH restaurants. Overall, they're pretty decent restaurants. Tonight was our second time to the Lakehouse Grille. It had been two years, so I forgot about my previous review. We ended up going here because the other places we wanted to go with our party of 6 couldn't seat us until 8 or 9 p.m. Lakehouse Grille doesn't take reservations, but they have call-ahead seating, so we called and put our name on the list. When we arrived, they had our table all set and waiting for us. The Pros: - Since they don't take reservations, they can accomodate short-notice larger parties. There were a few tables with 8 or so people. - The food was absolutely extraordinary. The lobster corn chowder was excellent. The pork tenderloin in mole ("molay") sauce with stuffed jalepeno peppers was to-die-for-fantastically-delicious. It was a culinary masterpiece. It's a tough call deciding between three or four stars. I probably would have rated Lakehouse Grille at 4 star except for the following downsides: - It's a fairly high-end restaurant, pricey. I felt a little underdressed in my t-shirt and cargo shorts. Most of the other customers were dressed up like it was a special occasion fancy dinner. - NO kids menu. I daresay not "kid-friendly." The waitress was happy to rattle off a few things they commonly make for kids - steak, grilled chicken, pasta, or pizza. My kids had the steak and RAVED about how good it was, and it only cost $9 - not bad for a high quality kid-sized steak (this checks with my positive comment above about the food being extraordinary). - It's pretty loud inside. In that regard, it's not too bad having kids in there because nobody else would notice the noise your kids might contribute. Not someplace I would come for a quiet romantic type of dinner. - The real kicker that's driving me to 3 stars was the service was pretty slow and not very attentive. There were little things like not bringing us bread and not taking away the wine glasses when none of us ordered wine that aren't show-stoppers, but are small indicators that the staff isn't firing on all cylinders. It took 10 minutes after we were seated before the waitress took our order. 15 minutes after placing our order, our kids were whining about being hungry, and we hadn't seen our waitress in a while, so we asked a passing server for some bread. They happily brought some very good bread to our table. 17 minutes after placing our order, we received our soups and salads. 31 minutes after ordering we received most of our meals - all except my mother-in-law's meal. My wife and I sat there and waited an additional 5 minutes before they brought the last meal to the table so we could dig in. Overall, Lakehouse Grille is A-OK - as long as you're willing to accept so-so service to balance out exceptionally good food. read more

We made a reservation for Mother's Day brunch here, and enjoyed a really nice spread. They had a ton of options ranging from a carving station, seafood, breakfast items, soup and salad, hot entrees, a "kid's" section, and desserts. Most non-alcoholic drinks were included in the buffet cost. The brunch was down in the grand ballroom (or something like that!) Reservations were definitely needed, but the tables were well-spaced and it didn't feel cramped. The food was good, service was good, and we all enjoyed ourselves. read more

This place has been a staple for our family. The food has always been good- not to be confused with great. But what the F, you're in central NH not Paris. My suggestion is if you're in the area and hungry you can't go wrong at The Lakehouse at Church Landing. They serve a typical Common Man restaurant type menu with a little more seafood variety. When a large beetle crawls out of your salad as you're eating it, and you bring it to your server's attention who aptly calls the manager over for a discussion/ apology--- you dont aspire to hear "well it's a Farm to Table salad so, this happens." No it doesnt, at least not at countless other restaurants who are on trend with the local organic greens bandwagon. I don't want the farm ON my table. Also would have been professional and more in line with customer service to remove more than just an $8 salad from the final bill. Ate here for a dinner for two on a Tuesday night. The service was good when we arrived (6:20ish), but as the room filled up, our wait for our bill became a little long. The atmosphere here can't be beat - lovely lake views, even on a rainy night, and a very comfortable, inviting room. This is a Common Man restaurant. The Common Man franchise has four restaurants here in Meredith (Lakehouse, Town Docks, Lago and Camp), along with their other restaurants across the state. They have managed to give patrons a very similar experience in all their spots. Unfortunately, that experience is a bit underwhelming. Lakehouse is not an inexpensive meal (none of their spots in Meredith are - they all seem to overprice, count on tourists to pay what they will, and not consider locals who keep them going in the winter!). As such, diners expect certain experiences. For one, I would recommend the management choose NOT to use the chain's printed cocktail napkins at this location. It really cheapens the upscale feeling they've created in the room otherwise. Our cocktails were tasty and we enjoyed watching the rain while we waited for our first course. Secondly, bread should be warm and fresh. Our bread was cold (as in, it had obviously been from the freezer) in the middle, and not at all crunchy on the crust. We ordered the spicy crab salad in crunchy "cones." The seaweed salad that accompanied the cones was excellent! We remarked that the cones themselves were odd. Sort of a savory version of ice cream cone dough. Why not crisp up some wonton wrappers for this application? Seems more authentic to the feel of the dish, and tastier. The crab salad itself is just that: crab salad that's spiced up with spicy mayo. The caesar salad dressing was good, the lettuce was old. One of us ordered the duck, which was in a delicious sauce, and the meat was tender and yummy, but the skin was disappointingly chewy. The salmon was a little overcooked, and the flavor of the ginger/soy coating was overwhelmed by what seemed to be a smear of mayo between it and the fish. We skipped dessert and enjoyed the book presentation of the check and a couple of pieces of chocolate. All in all, the Lakehouse delivers what all the Common Man restaurants seem to deliver lately: moments of enjoyable dining (excellent cocktails, creative things on the menu, lots of options) delivered in a mediocre fashion. A spectacular setting and great meal. We stopped in for lunch after buying ski passes at Gunstock. My husband had the house burger. Cooked perfectly. I had crab cake and lobster corn chowder. Chowder was a bit thick for my liking but full of lobster and corn. The prices were reasonable considering portions and setting. Chelsea was our server. She was friendly and attentive. read more

I had dinner here last night and overall we had a great time. Most importantly to me, i didn't get sick; I have a gluten allergy and they were extremely accommodating. Our server spent a good deal of time shuttling between our table and the kitchen, asking about ingredients, since I couldn't make up my mind. And, she could not have been nicer about it. She also brought to my attention that they could not confirm the lamb was gf, which I very much appreciated. As for the food, it was excellent. The salad was good (but it's a salad, so . . .). For entrees, I had the chicken. Due to a lifelong feud with mushrooms, I ordered Brussels sprouts and potatoes au gratin instead if the risotto. It was a delightful meal. Simply delicious. My boyfriend had the duck, and he enjoyed it greatly as well (or so he says. And he ate it, so there's that). He also had a salad and shrimp cocktail, but you kind of can't screw that up, so this review is based on the main courses, the ambiance (an acorn chandelier?!) and the super friendly, accommodating staff. read more

When I was in the New England area, we visited this location twice. First time was for an afternoon drink, on a Thursday afternoon. We were seated in the bar and waited 15 minutes for our waitress/bartender to take our drink order. She apologized immediately for being short staffed. Then we waited another 10-15 minutes for our drinks. The waitress/bartender was great, but, it was obvious she needed help. Drinks were good (highly recommend the Hot and Dirty Martini), so we thought we'd go back for breakfast... Second time there, was not a good experience. We were seated by someone who looked like they just walked off the street. I have no idea what her role was, and she seemed uncertain of even seating us. (Thinking she got thrown into the role that day?) Had a bubbly waiter and he was great, given his situation. I kept seeing other tables' food coming out one by one and carried one by one, which looked unprofessional. They ran out of coffee and our waiter made a French Press to troubleshoot, which was appreciated. (Question - when do you run out of coffee on any morning of the week?) The food was not good. Three of us had Eggs Benedict and the size of the Canadian Bacon was like a thick ham slice, very little Holllandaise sauce and the potatoes were cold. Super disappointing. What I could decipher from my two experiences there, management, or lack thereof was the issue. The waiter/bartender/waitress were all very capable, but didn't have any support to do their jobs. Seems like the kitchen was facing challenges as well. I hope it gets better, as the view from the restaurant is lovely. read more

Though or waitress was lovely the food was not what we remembered from previous summer visits. The famous corn chowder was lukewarm, overly thick and full of potatoes, not much corn. In addition the scallop entree was one of the more expensive choices and all six scallops were overdone to the point of being tough. Too bad because we were excited about it! Our waitress was sweet and apologetic and brought us 2 more "properly prepared" scallops to finish out the meal. May not rush back for another visit.... read more

I've been to Lakehouse twice and had completely different food experiences. My first visit would have garnered five stars: I had the NY Sirloin with avocado and tomato, and my husband had the gigantic Prime Rib. We both started with the fantastic Lobster Corn Chowder, which I highly recommend. Portions are quite large for all these -- expect leftovers. Based on that experience, we suggested to our parents that we all meet up for dinner at Lakehouse while his parents were visiting mine from NYC. Most of the meals were delicious (if unnecessarily copious), but my mom and I both made the mistake of opting for the vegetarian option, the Garden Medley. That would be a "zero star meal" if it were possible. The description says the vegetables are chili marinated, which sounds spicy but flavorful; the flavor was abandoned and only the spice remained. This dish appeared in various shades of brown with vegetables so rubbery and spicy and completely without flavor beyond "too hot to eat." If you like vegetables or you like spice that tastes like something, this dish is not for you. Very definitely not recommended. If this had been my only experience of the restaurant I would not return, but as it stands, I would certainly not recommend the Garden Medley to anyone. read more

This restaurant is wheelchair accessible and perched in the Church Landing Inn overlooking Meredith Bay of Lake Winnipesaukee with some views of the mountains and foothills. Food is well prepared and there is something for everyone. There is an adjoining room called The Lakehouse Lodge which is open for cocktails and light appetizers at 3:00pm everyday. I stop here for a quick lunch or an appetizer on my way back to Boston. .. or meet a friend for a drink and an appetizer.. The decor is old adirondack with lakeside and mountain antiques on the walls and floors .. Furniture brings you back in time 50 years or more.. with comfortable and unique seats and tables .. Staff is generally busy and professional .. not palsy.. Some meals seem to be a bit pricey ... but tasty read more

Despite the initially poor service, this place was awesome. We were seated in the dining room area first and waited. We had been at Funspot prior, so I went to wash my hands...thinking the server would come while I was gone or at least as soon as I got back. Nope. Then my friend went to wash his hands and came back. Still no server. Hmmmm? We had been admiring the bar when we walked in and decided that if no one showed in the next minute or so, we were heading to the bar. We waited at our table, watched servers walk by us (there were other people in the dining room), and after 15 minutes....we moved. It was the best idea ever! The bartender was super super super awesome and bought us our first round for the inconvenience! Since we had waited so long, we knew exactly what we wanted and he took our order right away. The restaurant manager gave a nice apology and we were happiest at the bar! I'm not usually one to complain so it was a nice touch that they acknowledged the issue. The bartender was awesome to us...chitchat and recommendations! Perfecto! The chicken wing app was awesome...tasty little bbq bites! Yum. The view from the bar was also amazing. We had Sunday brunch here a few days ago and it was great. The brunch is buffet style (which I normally do not like) but this was done well. They have several buffet options (including poaches eggs w/corn beef hash and pot roast). They also have a cook making omelets to order and fresh waffles. Always stop by for Common Man gift certificates for family events. Everyone loves them. The Lakehouse view is worth the visit, and the food is excellent. In fact, just sitting in the comfortable chairs of the quiet, relaxing bar with a glass of impressive house wine and the inn style cheeses makes waiting for gift certificates and a table enjoyable. We were lucky to visit on a beautiful fall day and were seated by the window at what seemed to be the best table in the place! Beautiful vistas of the lake and grounds. Menu is a little diverse with some interesting options. My husband had the steak tips which were a little chewy. I enjoyed the three grain salad and their autumn squash soup. Service was friendly and prompt. Choose a dining slot during daylight so you can stroll around the grounds and on the boardwalk and enjoy the whole experience. The food was good but the location makes it special. We even watched a small wedding in the gazebo on the lake. Glad we stopped in. read more

Went here to get apps at the bar. I don't know about the full dining experience but the apps were fantastic. Pork tacos were cooked perfectly and the sauce and flavor were scrumptious! Lobster shrimp cake was unique but also really good served with tarter sauce. Both good portions and came with good service. Because I didnt have a sit down meal to judge only giving 4 stars but would recommend those apps everyday! The only downside is their odd hours...they shut down breakfast by 10! Lunch ends at 3 and kitchen closes until dinner...why not have at least a limited menu in between?? That was a disappointment...but if you can make it for their particular hours it's worth it. read more

We arrived at around 8:30 on a busy Friday night. There were a couple of weddings in the lower function rooms and the bar/restaurant was filled with a good mix of locals and families who seemed to be having their affairs later in the weekend. The atmosphere was friendly and the half hour wait pleasant with lots of (local) folks eating at the bar and overstuffed living room furniture spread throughout the bar room; our party of four lucked out with a cozy set of chairs near the fireplace. Lots of good beers on tap and a generous selection of wines with 4 Chardonnays to choice from. We were actually seated within only around 15-20 minutes in a nice dinning room with a nice rustic feel. The meals were "OK" but I am not sure I would run back for the food. - The Bluefish Pate was definitely a hit though, an appetizer with enough for the four of us. - The steamed mussels were good but a bit on the overcooked side with many of them already having fallen out of their shells and a little dry - We had four varieties of salads, with none particularly outstanding; two caesar with shrimp, one wedge and mine with the hanger steak done medium rare was probably the best The low point was probably the service, granted it was a bit on the later side (9:00ish) when we sat down the waitress was mechanically friendly and we had to ask for most things twice; She "did not hear" that we ordered the pate, three requests for bread and two for a drink refill. We probably would stop back again to give it another try, the views for lunch must be particularly worth the stop. So the Lakehouse Grille has a great view and atmosphere if you're staying at the hotel but if you're in any sort of rush.... choose somewhere else. As a party of 6 we waited for almost an hour (which was twice the expected wait time) for a table and then had even more wait time for things like drinks and food. They were short staffed and made it very well known - which is a big qualm of mine in restaurants. Our designated server was barley present and our food was over cooked. Subpar restaurant experience overall but there is a great view of the lake, comfortable lounge seating, and complimentary cheese and crackers for you while you wait. read more

My whole family came to Meredith for a ski trip and stayed at the Inn at Church Landing at my recommendation (my step-daughter's wedding was held at the Inn). All the adults met for dinner at the restaurant and we did have a reservation. We met at the bar for a drink, the bar was so hot that I had to leave to cool down. Our reservation was at 7:45, we were seated at 8:20, must of us were ready to call it quits due to the heat in the bar. Problems: 35 minute wait for dinner, tables were a rectangle and a round table- awkward, 12 at dinner, long wait to hear specials and put in drink order, extra long wait for first course and dinner, food arrived cold or not cooked to request and all TASTLESS. One meal was returned. Service was fair. By the time we were seated, the dining room was beginning to empty so it was not as if we were there at the height of dinner. I was beyond disappointed and embarrassed. I have had dinner at the Lake House 2-3 times last year and drinks in the bar 10-12 times last year because of the wonderful wedding experience. But now, I do not think we will return. The Lake House needs to assess their service and their menu given the prices and self promotion of a high end restaurant. I recommend staying away until these issues are improved. P.S. We had dinner at another restaurant the following night, 20 diners strong and the food and service were excellent. read more

Beautiful views, great food and great service. Rib eye steak was cooked to perfection. Amazing flavor...Gnocchi was incredible. Great flavor profile couldn't stop picking off my wife's plate.
