After driving through the entry gate, I had mixed emotions. The entry road was not that well maintained, we passed several large parking lots that weren't really that well maintained either. There were some grape vines in view and they were in really poor shape, which made me question what the rest of the facility would be like. I am pleased to say that we were pleasantly surprised. The rest of the facility that we experienced was well maintained and pretty "cool". There was a really large grassy area accompanied by a covered Pavilion when you first walk in. We did not go into the Cottages that were for rent in the resort, but they looked cute from the outside. The restaurant decor was nice and the service was excellent. The food was good but not off the chain. The food was kind of "fusion" inspired and not your regular run-of-the-mill menu items, although there were a few of those, also. Most of the main entrees were a little bit pricey, in my opinion. We were there for lunch and so they did offer some lunch items but we opted for a main entree. The lunch options were more reasonably priced and consisted mostly of hamburgers, sandwiches, and salads. I opted for the Birria Beef Stroganoff (Yep, there's that "Fusion" thing). While it had good flavor, there was no "Stroganoff" component to it (that I could tell), other than a small dollop of sour cream that I discovered towards the end of my dish. It was more like Pasta Alfredo with Birria Beef on top. My wife had the BLT salad with the addition of grilled chicken. The dish was sort of anemic and lacked any creativity. In summary, I would go back, but would try some different menu items. Since we were there for lunch on a Friday there wasn't any other sort of entertainment other than the wine tasting room. We did notice that they have a comedy show and some live entertainment on weekend nights.

We were very surprised at the end when we asked him if we could get two checks for our table, he shared with us he couldn't, it had to be on one rather than cause a scene we decided to deal with it. At the end, we ask if we could get a receipt, he shared the best he could do is to let us come up and take a picture of the screen. Little bit disappointed in the entire experience as we are here from the state of Ohio and had hoped for a bit of a different experience. Overall, your outside service area was well done with plenty of room for seating and it was a nice touch having the haters.

The bar was well stocked, and the beer was cold. They had plenty of patio seating, and they host live music. The bar area and the bathrooms are in need of some TLC. Parking on Main Street can be a challenge. I went the next day to have a burger and onion rings, but they were out of onion rings. I settled for seasoned fries, which were ok.

Bankersmith takes advantage of that situation in order to scam people to showing up for their "events." We saw an "All you can eat crawfish festival" on VetTix. Signed up and thought we were lucky enough to get 4 tickets for an all you can eat crawfish festival We drive 2 hours to get there. At the door, we are told our tickets are just good for entrance, but the all you can eat crawfish is 40 dollars per person. However they did give us each a free ticket for a sangria. The was no festival. There was a mediocre one man guitar show, but otherwise this was just a dive bar. Admission for a dive bar? No large pot of crawfish anywhere. Seems they were doing HEB crawfish packs in the back. I went back and forth with the lady doing "admission." She seemed kind of upset she was doing this to people. Said she would upgrade our sangria tickets to beer tickets. Immediately after getting past admission, another vet customer came up and asked, "You thought this was on VetTix for all you can eat too?" I said yes. They said they drove for 2.5 hours. They were kinda pissed to. I mean, we are grateful to get free stuff, but when you drive 2+ hours because you think you are getting a great deal and then find out it's a ticket to get into a dive bar... that kinda sucks. So... we went to the bartender and ordered a couple of drafts. We saw the plastic tank of sangria and the tiny glasses they were handing it out in. Glad we we got upgraded to beer. She handed over the beers and we handed over the tickets and she looked confused. She said, "oh... okay." I asked what was wrong. I said the lady at the front said we could upgrade for beers. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and seated quickly. Our waitress, Toyna, was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and made us feel welcome throughout the entire meal. We started with the Cajun-style onion rings--thinly sliced, perfectly crispy, and served with a side of ranch. They were absolutely delicious. For our entrées, we both ordered the All-American cheeseburger with fries, and they were outstanding. The burgers were juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right, while the fries were hot and crispy. I'd easily give the meal a 9 out of 10. I paired mine with a local stout from Altstadt Brewing Company, which complemented the burger perfectly. My significant other ordered the iced tea, and you could actually taste the tea leaves--fresh, smooth, and one of the best restaurant teas we've had. Before leaving, we asked Toyna what dessert she recommended. Without hesitation, she suggested the made-to-order peach pie, and we're glad we listened. It arrived piping hot with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, topped with homemade whipped cream, and paired perfectly with a cup of fresh black coffee. The combination was incredible. The peach pie was a 10 out of 10, and one serving is more than enough for two people to share. This restaurant gets a whopping 9.5 out of 10.
