I have to say I'm very upset with how this place has changed over the years. I use to love them I've had everything on the menu and loved it all but lately the food is not good and the customer service is even worst. The last 2 times I've been it's been horrible. This will be my last time there. I order 2 breakfast burritos for 20$ when it was ready I asked for salsa but the one for chips which I have always asked for and the girl told me it's an extra charge I said I always get it she then took my food back and start to talk to the people inside I was so mad I told her give my my food I'm not paying for salsa I just paid 20 bucks for 2 burritos. She told me again hold on I said no and took my food and left. I will never go there again. I get home and one of my burritos has like 4 pieces of meat wtf it was a 9$ burrito read more

My friend and I stopped here for dinner on our way from Sacramento to Capistrano. We both have recently started ordering Mexican Shrimp Cocktail and boy was this a good one! It was filled with shrimp and tasted oh so good. Service was wonderful as well. We would definitely stop here again if we find ourselves in Oxnard. read more

My boyfriend and I went there yesterday. My boyfriend ordered an aguachile let's just say my boyfriend will not be coming back because it didn't have any lime, the juice itself is watery and not thick at all, the shrimp was not good at all but for myself I got the shrimp cocktail and tostada de camaron. Ordered a shrimp cocktail. It was delicious. The juice was perfectly flavored and the cup was LOADED with shrimp top to bottom. Considering it was $15 you definitely get your money's worth. Only downside that it was served in a thin cup. Made it a bit hard to eat but mostly at the beginning since they filled it to the rim. I added the house salsa and habanero salsa and made it taste even better. I also ordered a chicken taco to try. The chicken was tasty and juicy. A lot of meat for one taco. I tried my sisters tamale, it was covered in sauce and cheese. It was delicious. Overall this place is very good and definitely a try for their shrimp cocktail or chicken tacos read more

Took my wife here for a shrimp burrito because she loves them, the picture in the menu looked delicious, boy we were dissapointed when we got our food :( The picture shows the burrito cut in half with so many big shrimp falling out and being served with fresh tomatoe, lettuce, onion, avacado & lemon on the side... nope, not even close, wrapped in wax paper in a brown bag, no side veggies, nothing, and $12.50! So I say maybe it tastes really good, we can compromise? Nope, wrong again, awful tasting sauce they put on it and 4 small shrimp in the whole burrito! I drive by Lalo's everyday and remember how cheesy and deceptive and not to mention greedy this place is. I mean come on man, I don't mind spending $12.50 on a shrimp burrito but my God, have some respect for your customers and put out some quality food. read more

The food has gotten so much better in the last year. I just had to update since my last review in 2013. The other day I had the best tostada I have ever had. It was a tostada with pulpo(octopus). OMG the flavors were amazing and it was a decent size also. I also got a Asama burrito but this time I added cheese and sour cream and in my opinion it was 100 times better then without it. My top favorite dishes from Lalos that I would recommend are a tostada de pulpo, seafood cocktail mix, carnita tacos or a asada burrito with everything and add sour cream and cheese. I have been here a few times and held off until my second review before writing my thoughts. The grilled fish tacos are really quite good. The amount of fish they give you is surprising. They are just small street taco size, but with the amount of fish and cabbage they put on them, 3 will fill you up nicely for lunch. The shrimp burrito is pretty good as well, I would skip the lettuce inside as it gets wilted (had I known it was in there I would have omitted it), but the burrito is packed with shrimp and it has great flavor. I am very impressed with Lalo's. The food was great, the pricing is great, and the service is fantastic. Everyone here is so kind and ready to help. I got the chile Colorado and was very impressed. We live about 2+ hours away and pass through maybe once a month and I get excited to eat at Lalo's about 2 days before we leave lol It's seriously the best. Some people would refer to it as "a hole in the wall" but I'd just call it a great kept secret. The seafood is fresh, tortillas are homemade and I've never had anything I don't love. THE ONLY DOWN SIDE IS a) the parking is very limited and b) the bathroom is, well, scary. I mean it works and will do the job but I don't let me 4 year old touch ANYTHING or sit on the seat but back to the good stuff... they have a million options and will pretty much make anything the way you ask. Not understanding the high reviews. Food came out cold except the tortillas. Had chili rellano, tasted like chili omelette, tasted so much like eggs. Cramped seating for indoor seating. One plus, tortillas were hot and tasted lime they were made there, not from a bag. read more

Hands down, best Mexican Joint in Ventura County, including the infamous Oxnard TDM. Loveeee their breakfast burritos in the morning! To die for, especially after a hangover. Disgusting chili relleno made with egg instead of egg batter. Basically a fried egg wrapped around an under-cooked chile stuffed with melted jack cheese. The rice tasted like the sort of thing you make from box mix. Beans were pretty good. Carne Asada was ho-hum. Nobody fooks up a chile relleno this badly and escapes with less than one star, sorry. Just a little taco stand (they serve burgers as well, but I've never tried them here) with great food. They do an excellent job on carnitas and lingua, and the chile verde should not be missed. When my wife wants vegetarian, I get her a breakfast burrito (served all day) with fajita vegetables and avocado. read more
