I have lived in Lancaster for almost 9 years, yet I have never tried out the Broadway Deli. I remember years ago we looked over the menu and left. They called tuna vegetarian, which still puzzles me to this day. Pescatarian? Sure. I don't consider it vegetarian. ANYWAYY... I have been getting out of work earlier on Fridays, so my mom wanted to go somewhere. My mom had been wanting to try Broadway Deli for a few weeks now, eying the Italian caprese melt on the menu. She tried to order a few weeks back, but it was a 45 minute wait due to Fish Fry's. They recommend you place your orders in earlier for Fridays during Lent. My mom called in our order around 3:30 for a 6:20 pickup time. The woman we spoke to said that they were not even taking walk in orders today, so keep that in mind- it may vary by the week. We arrived at 6:10 and when we told them the name for our order, they got it together quick. I don't know if they started it yet or not, but they made sure we got it even before our pickup time. There are 3 official vegetarian items on the menu, but you can also build your own items, and they have a few salads and crostini's that appear vegetarian. If you remove the cheese off most of the vegetarian items, they can be made vegan. After our visit I messaged them on Instagram to see if the veggie burger is vegan- I will update when I find out (3/6/21; it is vegan, without the cheese or aioli). I ordered the vegetarian wrap without cheese, dressing on the side. I am sure many of us have been disappointed by a vegetarian wrap before. Restaurants throw together lettuce, tomato, onion, maybe some peppers, and charge you over $10. For $9.99 I got a REAL veggie wrap- grilled portabellas, spring mix, banana peppers, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, black olives, bruschetta, and caramelized peppers & onions. Unique vegetables used and a good variety. I didn't even use the dressing because all the components had enough flavor on their own. The wrap was also a little soggy from the wet ingredients, so I didn't want the dressing to saturate it. It came with a pickle on the side as well. Mom's sandwich was huge and she was very satisfied. These are deli style sandwiches here, no wimpy meals. The prices are also very reasonable compared to other cafes/delis that tend to overcharge for simple things. Though we ordered take-out, we sat in for our dinner. The deli has NYC vibes to it, and is decorated with Broadway show posters, photographs of famous stars, musical flyers and tickets. Hamilton music was playing in the background with a screen in the kitchen area holding the lyrics to sign along. They have an old school popcorn machine, but due to COVID it is currently not in use. Mom wanted to get some popcorn, but they told us the stuff in there has been sitting for months. Hopefully soon!! They have new specials all the time and they post them to their Facebook and Instagram page. Apparently their whole menu can be made gluten free as well. As a vegan, I am reasonably impressed with the amount of options, but would suggest adding hummus and maybe some beans (i.e chickpeas, cannellini, etc.) for protein or to be made into their own things. As is, I look forward to coming back and I am glad this is part of my village. read more

Wow, just wow. This place is amazing. I have celiacs and their entire menu is available gluten free, even their soups and fish fry! I get their GF fish fry every Friday, but call ahead and pick it up. I feel safe there because the owner has 3 daughters with celiacs so he knows how important it is to have a separate area, grill and fryer. They just remodeled so it's super cute in there and it's a great lunch spot! Plenty of space and options for everyone. They don't serve boring sandwiches by any means, each one is like a work of art, I'm not even kidding. Check out their Instagram and you'll know what I mean. I absolutely LOVE this cute local spot! Not only is the food out of this world, the owner and his daughters are a delight. They are very understanding and knowledgeable about being gluten free. The owners daughters also have celiacs and I am so happy I have found a place i love and trust! Their entire menu is available gluten free, even their soups & fish fry! I had a gluten free fish fry last friday and it was delicious! Tons of seating, free popcorn while you wait, and songs from Broadway Musicals like Dear Evan Hansen playing over the speakers. This place is a unbelievable sleeper of this area! I was told by a Friend to try them, and I was blown away! Meat stacked high, so if you wanted you could take some off, and have another sandwich later, but you will want to eat it all, right then! This is my favorite restaurant. I am gluten free and they offer a variety of different options for me (basically the whole menu) which is amazing, because at most restaurants there's only 2 gf options and that gets very boring. Sandwiches are huge and I always feel safe eating there because they have a dedicated area to gluten free. Please check them out!! read more
