I had a disappointing experience with Land Rover Thousand Oaks while trying to purchase a used Defender. The salesperson was responsive and patient with my questions, and the pricing on the vehicle was competitive. My frustration was with how some important details were disclosed very late in the process. By the time my wife and I came in to finalize the purchase, I had already spent a significant amount of time working through the deal, applied for financing and taken a hard credit inquiry, and rearranged our family schedule so we could come in and sign. It was only at that point that I learned the Defender came with just one key. For a vehicle like this, a replacement OEM key can cost around or even over $1,000, so this was not a minor detail for us. I asked whether they could provide a second key or make a modest adjustment to the price, but they were unwilling to do so. I understand that used cars do not always come with two keys, and I do appreciate that the dealership had already discounted the vehicle. However, I believe something this significant should be disclosed much earlier, before a customer invests this much time and goes through financing. I was also surprised that the vehicle appeared on Land Rover's inventory website as "Approved Certified Pre-Owned," but when I came in I was told it was not actually being sold as a Land Rover Certified Pre-Owned vehicle. That was another important detail I wish had been clarified earlier. The salesperson was courteous throughout the process. My disappointment is mainly with the overall dealership process and the late disclosure of important information. In the end, we walked away from a deal we were ready to complete. Update after your response: Thank you for acknowledging that the late disclosure of the single key and the CPO listing discrepancy were valid concerns. What is still missing from your response is the amount of time and effort that went into this transaction before the missing key was disclosed. I spent substantial time communicating with the dealership, negotiating the purchase, arranging financing, having my credit run, and coordinating my family's schedule so my wife and I could come in and complete the purchase. We arrived at the dealership believing the major details of the vehicle and transaction had already been discussed. It was only at the final stage that we learned the Defender came with only one key. For a premium vehicle where a replacement OEM key can cost a significant amount, that is something I believe should have been disclosed much earlier. I appreciate that you are sharing my comments with management, but I was hoping for more than a general acknowledgment. I would appreciate someone from management actually reviewing what happened and offering a meaningful resolution or gesture of goodwill given the time, effort, and inconvenience involved. I genuinely liked the Defender and was prepared to purchase it. The transaction fell apart over issues that could have been addressed before we invested so much time getting to the point of signing (before my credit is run!) . I've owned Land Rovers since 2005, purchased multiple vehicles from Land Rover Thousand Oaks, and spent a significant amount here over the years on maintenance, warranty work, and major repairs. Unfortunately, my last two experiences have been poor, and the decline seems to have coincided with the Swickard ownership change. Most recently, I brought in an 18-month-old vehicle for routine maintenance and a couple of warranty items. After an unnecessarily cumbersome AI booking process, I was assigned a very new service advisor. He was friendly and tried to help, but clearly lacked the experience and training necessary. I don't blame him for that -- management is responsible for putting employees in a position to succeed. The warranty claim was filed incorrectly and denied. After a full week, the only work completed was an overpriced oil change. The real problem was management. I called service manager Omar three times, emailed, and left two messages without a response. Land Rover corporate later determined the warranty claim had been submitted incorrectly and told me the dealer should resubmit it. When I finally reached Omar, he promised to research the issue and get back to me within 24 hours. That was two months ago. I never heard from him again. I've since moved my vehicles to Land Rover Woodland Hills. The difference is night and day: knowledgeable advisors, good communication, and follow-through. I have no problem paying dealer prices to properly maintain expensive vehicles. I do have a problem paying premium prices for poor execution and nonexistent accountability. After nearly 20 years with the brand and many years as a customer of this dealership, I won't be returning. I rarely if ever had anything good to say about a car buying experience. But we had gone to two other dealerships looking at used KIA Fortes for my daughter. The other two dealerships seemed almost bothered and uninterested in helping my daughter get and finance her first car. This dealership was a breath of fresh air. Cody went above and beyond and what's funny is that on used cars they're no haggle pricing which I appreciated because the KIA we found for my daughter was already aggressively priced to sell. Cody greeted us and went above and beyond throughout the entire process. Took time to explain financing and made sure my daughter understood her options clearly from start to finish as again this was her first time financing a car. Everyone at this dealership from Cody, to his manager, to our guy in finance was absolutely amazing. One of the smoothest most stress free buying experiences I've ever had at a dealership. While I know not everyone is in the market for a Land Rover if you see something on their used lot I would highly recommend Cody and his team to assist you. This is my second car leased through JLR Thousand Oaks. I leased a Velar a few years ago and just traded it in for a Defender. During the deal, my understanding (because I was clearly told) was that I only had one final Velar payment and wouldn't have additional lease-end charges because I'm a returning customer. I later got charged for tires. I called the dealership multiple times. I was repeatedly told someone would look into it and call me back. Didn't happen. One of the managers, Anthony Kang eventually responded and said there was nothing in writing showing the dealership agreed to cover the charges. During our call he told  me that the sales manager that was overseeing my deal was recently (Eric) "let go" because he was making promises to customers that he couldn't keep. This was extremely disturbing to hear because its basically exactly what I was disputing. After that we went back and forth a bit and he basically said that no one ever promised me that and that no promises were ever made. To me it's a classic "shady car salesmen" move. After all is said and done I'm on the hook for the tires and need to cover the charge... its not the end of the world. Its super disappointing that as a returning customer of a relatively high-end vehicle was treated like this. I let them know that im  local to the area and I plan on continuing to drive a land rover for years to come. Bottom line, I was lied to when I leased the vehicle and  I'm really disappointed at how they handled it after the fact. Specially after admitting that the manager has done this before. I have been a loyal Range Rover customer (at this dealership) for approximately eight years, and after this experience I will never bring my vehicle back to this dealership (or buy a car from them). I originally brought my Range Rover in because it was losing coolant and the low-coolant warning was coming on. The dealership performed a full inspection, gave me paperwork showing everything checked out, including a green check next to the engine, and charged me approximately $1,500 to "fix" the coolant issue. Two days later, the coolant warning came back on. Sebastian (my service advisor) told me to bring the car back so they could look at it. I drove it there normally. Once it was there, I was suddenly told they could not release the car back to me because the issue had "escalated," that there was now an engine problem, and that I potentially needed a complete engine replacement. The estimate: $32,168.92. This was only days after their own inspection had marked my engine as fine. I repeatedly asked one very simple question: how did we go from a coolant repair and an engine that was supposedly fine to a $32,000 engine replacement within a matter of days? I asked for proof. I asked for technician notes. I asked for test results. I asked for documentation explaining the diagnosis. I emailed Sebastian a detailed list of questions. I called repeatedly. He told me he would respond to the email. He never did. It took approximately a week after dropping the car off to get any meaningful information, (which I never did). I eventually became so uncomfortable with the lack of answers that I demanded my car back and took it somewhere else. Within approximately FIVE MINUTES, an independent mechanic found the actual problem: a visibly broken coolant pipe that was leaking. I have photos of it. He also inspected the engine and told me the engine appears to be fine. So I paid this dealership approximately $1,500 to fix a coolant leak they did not fix, brought the car back when the exact same warning returned, and instead of finding the actual broken coolant pipe I was told I needed a $32,000 engine replacement. When I later called Sebastian to discuss what the independent mechanic found and tried to cross-reference it with their paperwork, he hung up on me. I have formally requested my $1,500 back and am escalating the matter. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend getting an independent second opinion before authorizing any major repair here. read more

This dealership put the serve in service! I was frantic when I pulled up on a Saturday at 3pm with a coolant leak. Kyle Mendoza was the service advisor that came out to assist me. He tried to figure out how I could get the car serviced on Monday without a loaner car. In the end, we figured out a plan for me to bring the car in on Tuesday. The mechanic on duty was concerned and topped off the coolant and just told me to keep adding water to the coolant until I came in. On the day of service, all of the car issues were repaired and my car was ready as promised. The car was washed and they even did a mini-clean of my engine (which was filthy)! Everyone at this dealership was friendly and helpful; the waiting area is lovely and the coffee is delicious! As unpleasant as car problems can be, this experience actually had moments that were delightful. Thank you to everyone at this stellar dealership for truly caring about their clients. In more than 15 years, this is the first time an unfavorable review has ever been written. Unfortunately, the experience at the dealership no longer resembles what it had been for many years. At least five familiar employees, two from sales and three from service, are no longer there. Even a longtime employee from the business office appears to be gone. Over the years, three of the four Range Rovers owned were purchased through this dealership, which makes this experience particularly disappointing. Last week, I visited service simply to replace the battery in my wife's key, a straightforward request. During that visit, a service representative came out to inspect the vehicle and advised that an oil change was needed. That recommendation was reasonable as I stay on top of having the oil changed. Shortly thereafter, I was asked whether there had been any burning smell from the vehicle. There had not been, nor was there any indication of leaking fluids in our garage or elsewhere. Despite that, I was told that two hoses were leaking. Trusting the dealership, approval was given to proceed. When returning on the third day of waiting to pick up the vehicle, there was complete shock at being presented with a $2,730.91 invoice. At no point was the cost disclosed or discussed. The invoice indicates that the work was approved, which may be technically true, but had the cost been communicated, approval would never have been given. Agreeing to proceed without pricing transparency should not be interpreted as consent to a nearly $3,000 repair. Ironically, we had been seriously considering replacing our 2021 model with a 2026. Had the magnitude of this charge been known, the service would have been declined and those funds used toward a down payment instead. That option is no longer viable, and the trust that once existed with this dealership is now gone. This experience has been deeply unsettling and has lingered for days. There is an overwhelming feeling of having been taken advantage of. Questions now remain that should never arise with a trusted service provider: Was the oil change truly necessary? Were the hoses actually leaking? Were the repairs genuinely performed? These doubts are distressing and should never be part of a customer experience. While this survey requests that names and contact information not be included, I sincerely hope this situation can be reviewed. The information should be easily accessible given that the survey was sent directly to us. At this point, it is unclear what could make this right, but the weight of this experience has been significant and deeply disappointing. read more

I've had to deal with the service team here for a few vehicles, 2 of my own, and one of theirs. If you're adamant about having JLR work on your J or LR, get a second opinion before locking this dealer in for the job they quote you. I Brought my 2010 Jaguar XFR in for a main buss fuse replacement (before i found out the cause for it blowing in the first place). They replaced the fuse - yes, a little regular fuse (albeit, probably the most important fuse relevant to the cars function), and they tried to charge me $1,200. That would be understandable if they spent hours on end inspecting the vehicle and tearing it apart (figuratively speaking) to get to the fuse, or if it required some advanced process or other component disassembly. But this job wasn't that. I initially authorized something like $250-ish dollars in charges for the inspection. Victor calls me and says "Yea it's the fuse, so we have to order it, it will be here in a day." To which I said I'd get the fuse and drop it off so I wouldn't have to wait a whole day for a simple fuse change. I ended up getting the fuse for them, and had their guy pop the fuse in for me. It was that simple. I just dropped it off and came back later that afternoon to pick up and pay, so as not to rush them. When I returned to pick the car up, Victor told me the bill was north of $1,100-which I understandably lost my cool over. Let me explain my reasoning. First and foremost, that price is ridiculous for the task of replacing an easily accessible fuse (trunk). Second of all, I had never authorized any invoice aside from the initial inspection and a fuse replacement--Victor said I DID authorize it--to which I responded "show me where I authorized you to charge me $1,200 to replace a fuse." He couldn't. He tried to say I authorized the charges over the phone. I did not. The inspection was necessary because I needed to identify the issue with the vehicle, and why it was acting dead with a brand new battery. I signed the initial authorization, for the inspection (roughly 250$). I never signed a second authorization, agreeing to replace a fuse--that I sourced for them, mind you--for over a THOUSAND dollars. So to be frank, the cherry on top, the coup de grâce--I really didn't appreciate it in the least, Victor's attempt to gaslight me into believing I authorized over $1,100 in billable labor to replace a fuse, which was easily accessible via the trunk. It was literally the last time I would ever do business with JLR of T.O. That was some real work on their part. To wrap it all up...After calling them out and speaking to the service supervisor, I ended up paying the initial amount I agreed to pay for the inspection which was right around $250. They never identified WHY the buss fuse was blowing either...they just identified the fuse as why my car wouldn't start. In the end, the car was pulling too much voltage via the starter because of hydrolock which was being caused by a leak of antifreeze into the head. The starter would pull too much power to turn the engine over, and that amperage/voltage would blow the fuse. It may be rare to hear about somebody who appreciates working with a dealership, but I do. I want the facility with all the resources and tools designed to maintain my specific vehicle, to work on my vehicle. After this bs attempt to milk me after already having spent thousands of dollars with them to fix other important stuff on this car, I'll never give them my business again. I bought a range rover from them shortly after because I was going to get rid of the Jag, but they almost lost that deal over this whole debacle. I couldn't tell if it was greed or incompetence, but either way, do better. And do not take them at their word on the first go around. Unless you have no other option and can't get the car out of their shop, take it somewhere else and get a second opinion. And then get a third opinion to verify the quality of your second opinion. Notify the second shop of the first shop's recommendation and quote, and notify the third shop of the second shop's recommendation and quote. Once you have all three quotes, throw away the JLR quote and do business with #2 or #3. I hope this helps somebody out there. Good day! read more

He was very professional and expressed genuine concern about my concerns. He escalated my complaint to management and we were able to work with David Waldock to lease a new vehicle. We had worked with David in December 2024 and he was extremely pleasant and hardworking. He got us an excellent deal then and an even better one this time. We truly enjoyed working with him bc he listened carefully and searched for and found the vehicle we wanted. 1-Star Review -- Swickard Auto Group / Land Rover Thousand Oaks I've been a Range Rover owner for over 25 years, and my family currently owns three of them -- but this experience has completely destroyed my trust in both Swickard Auto Group and Land Rover Thousand Oaks. My 2018 Range Rover L has had an ongoing coolant leak problem. I've replaced the same defective part twice, both times paying out of pocket because my car was out of warranty. The most recent repair was done in February 2024, and here we are again -- the same part is leaking. What's even more frustrating is that Land Rover knows this part was defective -- they quietly switched from plastic to aluminum in newer versions. Yet, they only warranty their parts for one year, so I'm being told I need to pay another $5,000 for the same issue... again. I asked Swickard Auto Group / Land Rover Thousand Oaks to request a goodwill warranty repair from Land Rover, given this is a known issue that's now failed twice. Their answer? Declined. No help. No empathy. No sense of customer care. To make matters worse, I left three voicemails for the service manager, Omar, and never received a call back. Not one. My wife and I found a car online and visited the dealership to test drive it. From the start, Ilan, our salesperson, seemed more interested in his phone than helping us. We had a few questions about the car, but he said he wasn't familiar with that specific model (which raises the question of how he's able to sell cars without knowing about them). After the test drive, we asked if the car had a spare key, and although he said he'd check, he never followed up. Despite this lackluster experience, we decided to proceed with the purchase. While we completed the paperwork, Ilan took the car to be washed, but when we received it, the mats and charger were missing. I returned to the dealership to address the issue, but Ilan wasn't available, so I spoke with the Sales Manager, who was somewhat helpful. She mentioned she'd check with other locations to locate the missing items and assured me that Ilan would follow up with me. However, I never heard back. A few days later, I called to speak with the manager, but Ilan answered. I asked him why he hadn't followed up and if he'd found the missing items, to which he dismissively replied, 'You bought the car as is; it's not our problem anymore.' This is the worst place to bring your vehicle for service it will give you "wtf wrinkles on your forehead" Do not ignore the bad reviews! And if you just don't listen, like my husband and end up here.. Just ask for the parts department. Bc service department seems to only be trained in... honestly idk... idk if they even know. Just sit in the lobby for 5 min. Makes you kinda feel bad... but then you remember how long you been waiting on a part that's probably just sitting on the shelf... at least that's what I was told.. by the parts department, the guys who apparently have all the answers. read more

I honestly want to thank VIck for his great customer service and all the Service team for making my time so worthwhile me a rental and took care of everything when they didn't have loaners available. They also fixed my car super quick and wash my car when Woodland Hills would always give me my car back dirty and give me the run around . I received several letters from both TD Auto Finance and Chase Bank that multiple car loan applications were made using my name to purchase a vehicle(s) at Land Rover Thousand Oaks. I had a security hold on my credit so the applications were denied. I called Land Rover Thousand Oaks and told them ID theft occurred using my name. I wanted to know who made or approved the applications. I got a phone call back eventually from the Land Rover Thousand Oaks finance manager. He informed me that they use a third-party finance entity that receives the applications on-line. There is no security check so anyone can buy a car on-line using stolen identity and receive the car from Land Rover Thousand Oaks. I'm filing an ID Theft Report tomorrow with my local police department. read more

I called the dealer 4 times, went through chat twice and even submitted a credit app through the website to purchase a vehicle posted on the website. Called multiple times to verify whether or not it was on the lot still and was told by multiple individuals I would receive a call back. I never got one phone call. Finally, on my fifth call someone verified the vehicle had been sold. They clearly have no interest in my business or selling a vehicle. Horrific customer service. Extremely disappointed. read more

Steve in the service department was amazing. I had my 3 year old daughter with me and as all parents know....it's hard to get anything done with an active toddler. Steve was very understanding, kind and efficient. He even brought over a fruit snack for her while we sat in the lounge.
