The receptionist was kind and friendly, which I appreciated. However, the restaurant does not answer phone calls, and the listed phone number does not work--you have to rely on reviews or visit in person. I ordered the katsu chicken, which was over-fried, and both the beef and chicken dishes were overly salty with too much sauce a bit over cooked on the ribs. I do appreciate that they're open late at night, which is helpful when you're craving something after hours! 1. Lani's Hawaiian BBQ IS part of Costa Mesa Kitchens (yes it's a ghost kitchen). Give it a chance! 2. It helps to think of this place as a take out cafeteria or mess hall to go counter 3. It was absolutely perfect, hot, fresh, and delicious. 4. We live in a food desert with nothing open past 8 except fast food chains or sit down where you're spending a Ben 5. They take debit/credit, and it's about $20-40 for two 6. All of Santa Ana except downtown/clubs and food trucks is "sundown town".. so this place is actually serving a huge local need. Even the grocery stores like Stater Bros are out of town or across town. 7. Easy parking. I was EXTREMELY hesitant to try this place. I was a ghost kitchen hater. Finally I gave in because options past the triangle are scarce here in November 2025. Half the food we get at stores isn't even fresh and about 30% of it is gone bad on the shelf. It's really hard to get food that we aren't sick of, my husband doesn't get off work till 6 and by 7pm the options are basically nothing. Parking is always a nightmare, and drive thrus are winding down the roads around the corner with a 30 min time commitment and an 80% chance to see dinner and a show of local ghetto activity. What do I have to lose? Very surprised because the food here is excellent for what it is I am shocked how good it tastes! It's like a magical food walk up mall where you go to a kiosk, pick the restaurant, and order. In about 10 minutes your food is in a locker and you get a text. We went home and enjoyed not eating stuff we are tired of. It was amazing, and we will be returning. It's futuristic, and I'm so glad we went. I believe this is a ghost kitchen but they're still so delicious and give generous portions! One of my go to spots to order. Chicken Katsu (5/5): Macaroni salad is creamy and delicious, pairs well with the rice and katsu. Katsu is crispy, moist, and well seasoned. We love how much katsu comes in one box! I got the Hawaiian BBQ Mix combo a few weeks ago and it was insanely good. The beef short ribs are crave-worthy. I haven't stopped thinking about them since I got them. The macaroni salad and rice amounts were great! The plate is shareable if you and another person are only mildly hungry but definitely so much food for such a good price. You get the katsu which is so crispy as well and delicious, the katsu sauce which is also delicious, the BBQ beef which is good but a little sweet for my flavor. The only think I wish this place did is a plate of JUST the short ribs. Maybe since my only order was through DoorDash I can maybe do that in person? But honestly I'd get the whole BBQ mix plate again if it meant I got the short ribs and the Katsu. read more

I started out sourcing what I thought was a gourmet burger establishment and upon arriving there. It was just a store front with a few displays with pictures and menus of 6 different food vendors and a few door bell buttons. There was a pick up station. Drove there and again it's a front with multiple food vendors the only difference from the 1st place is the was a few employees there and everything is ordered and paid for on the screens and you get a code on you phone that will be scanned and your food is placed in lockers then pops open by the QR code on your phone. read more

I'm a little confused with how to rate this as something's deserved a 3 where as other aspects deserved a 5 so I'll just split the difference here. For starters the food arrived quite quickly since I used uber eats and I was pleasantly impressed with the portions. Everything was quite mountainous on the plate and musubis while a tad unproportioned was wider than expected. I ironically loved the Teri beef and the kalbi which most places fuck up and despite the size of the Kalbi it was seasoned quite well. The few things I didn't like was the lack of seasoning/sauce on the spam which while crisp to my liking was dry as hell. Another was the blandness of the katsu sauce and mayo overload of the Mac salad. If they get the promotions on this right they're easy fixes. As for the final and most egregious the fact that the katsu was somehow either overcooked, lacked seasoning or imo both. Usually that's the easiest to master as it's just Panko chicken but it was tough, dry and overall lacking the accoutrements that come with katsu. I loved the crispness of the panko but not at the expense of the chicken. Overall I'd retry this place but they need to fix some stuff. read more

i was pleasantly surprised with the food. honestly cant find anything bad to say about the food. portion size was good. flavors were good. i asked for less rice on the spam musubis and they gave the perfect amount. good 3.5 (almost 4) out 5 for me.
