We had a truly incredible evening at this restaurant, with fantastic service. They were doing a wine and cheese tasting from the central coast and we were surprised by how generous the tasting portions were. We then started with with maitake mushroom with whipped feta, which may have been my favorite course of the night. We also had the delicious Parker house rolls and some oysters. For mains I had steak, my wife had lamb, and our daughter had pasta. All were excellent but the real stand out was the consistency of the service and the location. So often with a view that beautiful the service or food is lacking and this was not the case. Highly recommend. read more

Ideal location perfect for al fresco dining. Lanterns Edge is easily the best out of the fair number of restaurants that have occupied the Laguna Cliffs Marriott in Dana Point. The entire vibe, if you will, is so much better and has become not only an outstanding restaurant for hotel guests, it's also a great dining destination for locals. So, you can't beat the location. The outdoor patio overlooks a giant grass field, the harbor and ocean. However, I would say to check if they have events going on because there was some kind of corporate party going on outside while we were eating, complete with karaoke (oh man) and an electric bull (not joking). We were laughing it off, but I can see that this would be a mood killer for some people. The food is pricey, but ambiance is great. Service is good but a bit slow. Get the bread rolls for the table. Meanwhile, the breakfast buffet is $39 and includes a variety of foods and drinks. I never really write reviews. I truly believe it's not worth it and to just move on. We had a large group and you go into it expecting some issues, but yesterday was hands down one of the worst experiences. As the evening progressed you could tell it wasn't going to end well. It started with the little missed things. Taking forever to get drink orders and getting them much much later. Asking for a blanket for one of the wives who was cold and never being brought one. I had to get one from the restaurants front desk myself for her. Then the big things. The food. Two people in our party were served their food almost 50 minutes before the rest of us. They waited but after a few minutes were urged to eat because it would get cold. Then we ultimately found out later that food was someone else's. Our food was finally brought out and I will say it was delicious, but with everything that happened throughout the night the experience was ruined. I ate my food quickly because I just wanted the check and to get out of there. When it came time for the bill the waitress was asked multiple times for the check. When it finally came someone asked the waitress a question about the check and she just walked away from him. Someone in our group complained to the manager about the poor service. The manager was great and understanding. You could tell he was sincere. With all that being said, I don't think I'll eat here again. I still love the hotel and would stay there again. It's kid friendly and holds a special place in our hearts. read more

Our server Bianca was amazing, her recommendations were on point, timing was perfect, and her personality was sparkling.
