Order: Tod Tod Platter: Pork belly, calamari, garlic chicken wings, beef jerky and tom yum fries. jerky, pork belly and the fries were the highlight of the dish. individuals in my party liked the calamari. jerky was sweet, just a little bit smoky with a chewy texture. pork belly was more fried than roasted? but the skin was not crunchy. for both of these, it can be tough meats. Fries were tangy than spicy, from lemongrass or lime. Lao Royal: Tilapia, duck curry, papaya salad, Lao sausage, beef jerky, wings, vermicelli, sticky rice, leafy greens and herbs. the individuals in my party loved the tilapia, lots of meat, tender and not dry. duck curry was more soupy, pieces of duck were soggy lacking flavor. sausage had a yellow appearance of a curry that was not expected. Enjoyed the sticky rice and had to order another one. Happy hour is from 5:00-7:00 on Monday-Saturday, and all day on Friday. Drinks, appetizers, and oysters are part of the deal. Menu can be overwhelming so there are 2 preset entree options at the top including 1 appetizer combo. Server provided recommendations for the food. Elegant dining experience with colorful lamps, big area for patrons with lots of tables and so bar seating with TVs. good place for a casual hangout.
Came during a weekday right before lunch time. Although they were not full, it definitely got busy at peak time. Not able to tell if it was a slow or regular day. So if you want to ensure no wait time, before noon is your best bet. Restaurant has a nice decor, big tables, huge restrooms. Sat comfortably with plenty of space for multiple dishes. Food wise, everything was pretty good! Price is in the mid-low range. Not the cheapest thing you'll find downtown (most dishes start at $21), and by far not the most expensive one. Considering the quality of the food and service? This is a good deal!
This place was recommended to us by a kind person at SF Moma. We wanted to eat non Indian vegetarian food. Their menu had many options listed as vegetarian. The service was prompt and friendly. The decor was beautiful. The food was hot and delicious. The servings were pretty big. We had the eggplant and spicy basil tofu. Both came with rice. Yummy food.
It was at a 3 after they forgot our lao sausage order, but now a 2 after they have forgotten about our anchovy sundae for 20 minutes. Average food, average cocktails, high prices. $30 for a fried rice with only 3 chicken wings and only some green beans mixed in?? Very frustrating when we ordered the lao sausage after we had put in our order they said yes we can get that for you. Then we asked for dessert menu and server said yes we can get that for you and never got it for us! We had to ask a different server for the dessert menu which she handed over immediately. Regretfully we ordered the anchovy sundae and have been waiting since. We just checked in on it and she said the kitchen is busy. When i asked to cancel it she said let me check and just left! Terrible! I want to give it a one star now!
Ive been here twice and I want to love this place! But not everything on the menu is a hit They have a great happy hour menu if u can make it in time, and I recommend going the family-style option because some dishes are very small. Highlights: - spicy crispy rice appetizer: this was a hit! it is VERY spicy though as someone who can tolerate alot! But its a great sharing size for a group of 2-4 people - the fried fish is crispy and delicious with a great sauce. But there is not that much meat on the fish itself - the tom yum is a bit watery and does not have a strong flavor, but it comes out on an open flame and is very shareable - the curry rice portion is super super small for the amount of curry that is provided. We had to get an extra rice. The curry is not super spicy and did not have as much depth of flavor Overall, I would come again but just for the crispy rice appetizer!
This place absolutely exceeded my expectations. The place is primarily Vietnamese but you would find Thai flavours. Such a wide variety of items in here - and everything is finger licking good. I absolutely had a feast here. I got Chicken Friend rice and it was good - not the best but above average. For the table fish platter was also exquisite. I can't recall which fish was that but it was really great..it also came up with so.many other item such as chicken wings. The seafood sizzling tom yum probably tasted the best. Thoughly enjoyed it. The Belgian beer they server was one of the best. In isolation probably every food I tried, I can find a better and slightly tastier version but a single place delivering and maintaining above average food quality over such a wide spectrum is rare. The ambience and environment was great. The place became super noisy later in the evening but it was so much fun dining out here.

LOVE this place!! It's honestly so rare to find Lao food that feels this high-quality and truly authentic. Everything we tried was packed with flavor. Their happy hour platter deal is such a steal, it comes with oysters, sausage, chicken wings, and calamari, and the cocktails are only $7 (beers even cheaper). Amazing value for how good the food is. The vibe is always lively, and the staff are consistently warm and friendly, which makes the whole experience even better. Pro tip: go with a group so you can try more of the menu. I also love that many dishes come with fresh leafy greens so you can wrap everything - it adds the perfect fresh crunch and makes the meal even more fun and delicious. Definitely one of my go-to spots for great food and good vibes! My favorite dishes are the platter, fried rice, crispy spring rolls with leafy greens, papaya salad, and so much more :)
I came with a friend on a weekend night on the later side and there were not many people inside. It's a nice environment right in FiDi, and the plates are beautifully decorated for sure -- but I unfortunately didn't really love the food, We got a coconut curry which had good flavor but the meat inside was a bit too sinewy and also it was small portion size-- we kind of finished it in a few bites. As you can see, the leaves take up half the plate. We also got a bamboo salad and was excited to try it but I honestly couldn't eat much of it, was actually very spicy and also the raw vegetables on the side wasn't the most appealing. I assume some other things on the menu are better but definitely wasn't our day. My friend and I both agreed that the service was friendly but the food was so-so and overpriced for the sizes
We came here on Friday night for dinner. We had a reservation, so we were seated pretty quickly. Service-wise, our server was very friendly and our food came out pretty quickly. The ambiance was lively and loved the decor. We ordered: - "Tang-Mo" Watermelon Peanut Salad - I was initially skeptical about the combination, but I ended up really liking this! The juiciness and slight sweetness of the watermelon, really played will with the sightly sour and flavorful sauce, which made it taste very good! - Garlic Wings - It was pretty good, crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside and flavor was good, but nothing too out of this world. - Khaw Kai Noodles - The noodles were delicious and after adding the sauce, it really set off the taste very well. The chicken was also delicious and flavorful. - Spicy Thai Basil Chicken - Flavor-wise, this was delicious, but when we got it, the dish was not very warm or very spicy, which was a bummer. Overall, we had a great time and will be back in the future to try more items from the menu!
We came for lunch midday on a Friday and were sat instantly! The space inside is huge and the ceilings are so tall, it was the perfect place for a nicer lunch to catch up with coworkers. I was a little worried based on other reviews that the portions would be small for the price, but I was pleasantly surprised when our dishes came and the portions were MASSIVE! The rice dishes came with 2+ cups of rice and my Pad Mee Lao Prawns was enough for 2.5 meals. Flavor was great as well - nothing mind blowing but I was definitely happy with what I got. And on Fridays, they have happy hour all day. We didn't get anything off of the happy hour menu, but I would definitely try coming for happy hour next time.
What a treat! Exceptional service! Not only did we get seated right away. As soon as we ordered, the food came out within a few minutes! Everything complemented each other. The place is beautiful with traditional Lao atmosphere. Rich vibrant colors. Full bar! Lots of amazing cocktails. Will def be back!
Service was friendly and efficient. Wait time after ordering was quick! Especially on a busy Friday night. The food was tasty and beware of spicy. Medium spicy was spicy for me. Ambiance is clean and busy. Fun spot after work.
it was my first time trying lao cuisine, and i really liked it! they were able to sit a large (14) group of folks on a tues night without reservation ahead of time, and we were really grateful for that accommodation on such a short notice. the drinks were delicious, i tried the thai iced tea and the coconut water, both with great presentation. i really liked the khaw kai noodles, and they were easily able to make it vegetarian (some of the dishes on the menu also have that readily available vegetarian option). they also continuously checked up on us (refilling water, providing great recommendations, handing to-go boxes) which we really appreciated as well. would come here again! read more
Just steps down from my ahotel in San Francisco, is Lao's table. After taking a long walk, I stopped in for lunch, and since I was a singleton, I was sat at the bar. The bartender was awesome, the drink he made me, see picture, was delicious and refreshing. I look forward to coming back and enjoying more of their fare. read more

Laotable, a restaurant I was at during its opening back in 2022. It's one of my go to spots, however I do think the vegetarian options can be highlighted a bit more. But when you find them they do not disappoint. The crispy rolls and the pad mee lao were the highlights of my experience. The perfect of sweetness and spice. The tom yum soup was not the best tho and is the only part where I felt there could be an improvement. But in the end it is a place I'll visit again and do suggest. read more

Went here on a Friday night and it was quite busy but we got a place to sit right away. We recently moved to the Bay area and had been looking for a good Thai place (similar to Thai Villa in NYC). This place definitely stood up to the standards. We ordered the Lao Rice, Red Curry with chicken, hot thaidy (Christmas special drink) and mai tai. The food was perfect balance of spicy and flavorful.! It was exactly what we were looking for! I believe it is a BYOB as well. We would definitely visit again and try other items on their menu! read more
Come for happy hour! The food is tasty and the vibes are fun. We easily made reservations for a party of 6 on a Wednesday and we were seated right away. We requested none of the food to have peanuts because of food allergies but the sausage mistakenly came out with nuts. Our server immediately took it back and gave us a new one and we had no other issues. She was also attentive about getting our orders in before happy hour ended. Garden fish platter 4/5 The fish was fried well. The lao sausage is super delicious and flavorful. The papaya salad was also refreshing. The beef jerky however was pretty dry. Would only get this if you have a bigger group. Happy hour platter 3/5 The chicken wings were amazing and crispy and super flavorful. The oysters are just ok. The crispy calamari was decent. Again the Lao sausage was delicious! Oysters 3/5 Just ok but happy hour price was nice Tom yum 4/5 Flavorful delicious and warm broth. Packed with lemongrass. Perfect for winter nights Crispy pork belly 4/5 This crispy pork belly was perfectly crispy and was perfectly salty and tasty to go with the rice. Be sure to break that yolk all over the rice for the perfect bite. You need to come check out their happy hour and have some of the most delicious Laotian food in the city. read more
Fancy Thai food restaurant downtown. Cool, purple-themed atmosphere inside. There's cultural decor with a modern twist. Service was great and attentive. We were able to get seated right away. Food was alright. It's hit or miss. Dishes tend to be on the sweeter side. Also beware certain things are pretty spicy. But the drinks are some of the best! Would recommend the curry, the lychee drink and the Lao soda. The presentation is nice, food came in woven baskets and patterned plates. Spring rolls: 4/10 Lacking flavor but has a nice texture Lamb curry: 8/10 So delicious and a lot of rich spices Sample platter: 6/10 Good fried chicken, other items were average Mango sticky rice: 7/10 Tasty mango with a shaved ice mountain, it is pretty sweet though Lao soda: 8/10 Refreshing and fruity, nice presentation with the whole leaf in the cup read more
Happy Hour Platter (4/5) - thought this was the best bang for buck item on the menu. Great for if you wanted to sample a little of everything or love oysters (on the smaller side). My favorite were the things - crispy, savory, and tons of flavor (could have been more juicy). The calamari was tasty with the sauce but without could have used a bit of salt. The sausages were my brother's favorite and also pretty tasty. Tom Yum Fries (2.5/5) - underwhelming, I was expecting more for 6 or 7 dollar fries. They weren't the crispiest nor the fluffiest fries. The Tom Yum seasoning added a bit of spice and sour to the fries granted not sure I was the biggest fan of that. Moo Nam Pla (4/5) - Lots of flavors from all the sauces used on the pork belly and enjoyed the accompanying chili lime sauce that came with it too. I would have preferred if the pork belly was a bit more tender but do like the crispness some pieces had Crispy Sticky Rice Salad (5/5) - so much flavor packed into the crispy rice portion and I love how crunchy it is too. This is definitely my favorite dinner dish here! All the crunchy, savory, and spicy tastes are nicely balanced with the herbs and fresh vegetables. I got medium spice and generally like spicy food; however, I think in this case, low spicy would have been a more pleasant experience. Pho Duck Noodle Bowl (3/5) - the duck was overcooked (thus tough) and a bit under seasoned, which was disappointing, but the egg noodles were solid and had a nice chew Mark Mango (5/5) - love that you get two desserts - makes for a decent portion size (enough for 3 people). The mango sticky rice was sweet, creamy, and loved the fresh mangos. I liked how the mango sauce came on the side so you could pour however much you wanted for the icy. Overall, I generally try to come here during happy hours when I'm catching up with a friend in SOMA because otherwise it can be a pretty pricey meal. The decor of the restaurant is aesthetic (I like the purple lanterns on the ceiling) and service was good too. read more

I came here with a group of my friends and had a really good time! If you come early (around 5pm), they usually can seat you even without a reservation because it's a large location. We came on a Thursday with a party of 8 and they seated us almost immediately at the table closest to the door. While it was a bit chilly when people would come in and out, they tried to keep the door closed overall, so we appreciated that. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice as well but it does get a bit noisy when it's filled up. Their food overall is pretty good! Everyone liked all the dishes they ordered and had no complaints. Their servings aren't the biggest, but they're enough to fill you up. Main reason it's not five star for me is the prices are pretty high for the amount of food you get, but also it's kind of expected for downtown San Francisco. Their service overall is great too! They were all really nice. Definitely recommend this place for large groups and happy hour! read more
Food was great, but very disappointing service. Went on a week day night and found out there's happy hour! Ordered happy hour platter and 2 main dishes for party of 3. S&P crispy pork belly - is tasty and the cook belly is very well cooked, but I don't know why when I chew the meat my gums hurt. I'm pretty sure it's the food cuz I didn't feel the pain before nor after. Red curry is super tasty and probably my favorite dish. It's on the sweet side, blended really well with the chicken. Happy hour platter - well set for instagram, interesting combination of appetizers. Fried wings was good, but the oyster tasted not so fresh. I would give 1 star to the service: 1. Server sounded really rude and condescending when we were ordering. We asked what drinks are included in happy hour and she condescending flipped over the page and said it was on the back of the happy hour flyer. Hopefully this is not what she meant, but the tone feels very condescending. 2. Servers are too frequently asking to clear our table, even sometimes there's still food on the plate, to the extent that we feel our conversation was disturbed multiple times. Also, it made us feel that there were trying to rush us out so they can serve the next group while the restaurant was pretty empty. This is very disappointing service quality for a restaurant with ~$60 per person post tax and tip. read more
One of the best restaurants I have tried during my trip in San Francisco !!! Hardly any other one can beat it. The restaurant is Laotian-Thai style. I ordered a watermelon salad and a sea bass which was cooked in nana leaf. For the watermelon salad, it was super flavorful-a great combination of sweetness, sourness and spicyness. Plus, the serving size was generous! The entrée, the sea bass, was even better! It was wrapped in a banana leaf and if you open it, you can see that the fish was cooked with vegetables and yellow sauce (perhaps some kind of curry). The fish was extremely tender, almost melt with the sour-sweet sauce right after I put it into my mouth. So in short, it was an impressive dining experience. The foods had exquisite look and tasted even better. The dining area was spacious. And the service was top-class as well. read more
Great atmosphere, can get a bit loud. Waiter is very friendly and attentive. They have a nice selection of cocktails for happy hour for $7. I had the Lao Mule. It tastes good but I wasn't a fan of the crushed ice. I know, of all the things to complain about, right? The entrees do run for $25+. This was my first time trying Lao food and of course, I see the similarity with Thai food with the rice noodles, curries and fried rice. I had the Khaw kai which is rice noodle mixed with a peanuty sauce which reminds me of a runny version of the peanut dipping sauce for vietnamese spring rolls. I love Laotian food and this place has an awesome happy hour menu but a pretty $$$ main menu. We arrived before their 5p opening and folks were already lining up for happy hour, which is Mon-Sat, 5-7p. Drinks and bites range from $5-9. Drinks: -Beer $5 -White wine (chardonnay) $7 Grub: -Taste of Laos (from Happy Hour menu): fried calamari, garlic wings, 10 oysters, and spicy Lao sausage-. $38 (recommend this for a group for the tasty variety. Great deal!) -Crispy Rice Salad aka Nam Khao $22.95 (spicy from the fermented pork with fresh greens and nice herb variety) -Green curry with beef short rib and roti $38.95 (tender beef and good flavors.) -Pineapple fried rice with shrimp, chicken $24.95 (good but not worth it) -Crispy Pork Belly $26.95 (wish there was more pork belly but it was certainly crispy!) - Mango Mark- mango coconut sticky rice and shaved ice. $13.95 (refreshing but wanted more mango sticky rice) - Khao Tom Mudd- sticky rice with red bean and coconut ice cream in a fresh coconut. $12.95 (coconut lovers would like this but rice cakes were not worth it.) Takeaway: Huge, vibrant ambiance, attractive happy hour, excellent service, welcoming staff, delicious Laotian food with contemporary flair. Only dock is the price, which is pretty hefty for the food and the portions. Table of 5 bill with tip was about $50/pp and I was satisfied but not super full. Not sure why the reviews are so low but we loved this spot! Super tasty Laotian food in sf! khaw kai noodles with chicken were super good, the chicken was so much more tender than other Asian restaurants. Crispy spring rolls were super flavorful and the serving was huge. Chicken pho also surprisingly flavorful and fresh. A bit loud inside but don't let that stop you from visiting this super cute and tasty spot! Also super fun drinks and happy hour specials from 5-7! read more

I visited Lao Table twice. The first time was for a work lunch, and I ordered the Pad Mee Lao w/ Prawns. Honestly, I didn't find it to be anything special. I wish I tried something more unique like the grilled meat dishes (frying tiger steak or nam som pork chop) However, I recently went to their happy hour with a friend and had a better experience. We enjoyed the oysters and chicken wings, which were included in a $38 happy meal platter that came along with fried calamari and sausage. The drinks we ordered (sassy berry and tropical spritz) were tasty, although they didn't have much alcohol in them. We also ordered a side of sticky rice to go with our food, but I don't think you need it cause it actually did not pair that well with the food (that's our mistake). The only disappointment was the sausage; I expected it to have a different flavor and my friend mentioned the consistency was a little odd for appetizers and it wasn't super warm. Overall, the food at Lao is on the pricier side for what it is, but considering the limited options for asian sit-down HH in the financial district, it's worth at least one visit. read more
Nothing like killing time before the ballgame. My date made a reservation here because it is relatively close to the ballpark. It was happy hour so we ordered the Happy Hour Platter which is like a sampler of apps - oysters, lao sausage, calamari and chicken wings. The sausage was too spicy for me, as do the sweet chili dipping sauce on the calamari. The oysters were decent for the price. The chicken wings were freshly cooked, hot and crispy. We also got a couple of cocktails - the toki highball and ruby sunset. It was really strong which I enjoyed. TBH, this was the closest thing to a bar that I've been to in a long time. A legit Thai restaurant that hits all the notes. I've been here over the years and they've been consistent with their quality of food and service. The environment feels like a trendy club at night with its lighting and modern music playing- very LA vibes. Clients are mostly group events, dates or business casual attires. One of my issue is that the restaurant can get pretty loud from the clients and music, so it might feel a bit shouty at times and you could miss important conversations when you are down the table in a large group. The food is the highlight with its beautiful plating and amazing flavors. My favorite was the grill squid that night. It's location is pretty convenient for folks that live or work in the financial district, easy access to the transport and parking isn't too hard after work hours. read more

Came here with for an impromptu work dinner, and we ended up landing on LaoTable and it was definitely a solid choice! I've only been here once and it was during the How Weird Festival and it was just for beautiful cocktails, which they do really well here. It was my first time eating here and got the Panang Lamb. For around $25, it's a very tasty dish and they are generous with the amount of lamb you get. Lamb was tender and cooked perfectly. I asked for spicy but it wasn't very spicy but the panang curry had such a deep flavor, it was perfect to pour over the rice. The side cucumber salad was as a nice balance and give each bite a nice crunch. Would definitely order this again! If you haven't been to the financial district lately, it's pretty evident that the amount of ppl out n about is significantly less than what it used to be pre-pandemic. That means getting a table on a weekday night was pretty easy. However if you are coming with a huge group, definitely take advantage of making a reservation. read more

Very nicely decorated and very clean!! The presentation of all the dishes are amazing! First time having Lao food and it was delicious! Larb Duck Pakxe: this was very refreshing. The sauce is pretty strong, but in a good way. I really liked it, but definitely would have been better if we got more greens since it gave a good amount of protein. Gai Yaang Ka-Min: this dish was awesome since it had a variety of items on there for us to try. Papaya salad was refreshing and the sauce on it was strong. Sticky rice was so good with the chicken and sauces together. The chicken was tender and flavorful. Overall this place was delicious! Though it is on the pricier side. We came during lunch time and it was super busy! Customer service was amazing and all the servers were very attentive! read more

Very tough parking, meters only parking, no valet. Less stressful take BART or Uber/ Waymo. Got here just when they opened for dinner to avoid reservations and seating right away. Nice clean ambiance and very large unisex toilets. Food is definitely Thai. Happy hour combo platter very good. 10 oysters, lemon, no Tabasco were excellent. Fried chicken wings (6) were freshly fried, excellent. The Lao sausage were good, not as good as northeast Thailand's. The fried ring squid was chewy, needs better skinning of derma layer. Bamboo salad, tasty, mildly spicy was very good. Service was very good, refilled water, extra spoons. Better experience than last time. read more

Get the platters. I think there's one platter on the menu but they might have another special platter promo going on. My recs are the beef skewers (tender, juicy, aromatic) sand the Lao sausages and the chicken wings! Didn't get to try the other stuff since we ordered a lot and it was just the two of us. The two of us stumbled upon this place in Fidi and we decided to check it out. It was my first time trying Laotian food and I was pleasantly surprised! Like many Yelpers recommended, we got the crispy rice salad. This dish definitely hit all the flavor notes. It was salty, sour, and refreshing. I love the crunch of the crispy rice and the pieces of ginger. In every few bites I'll get the flavor of curry leaves and it is so yummy. This is similar to the crispy rice salad at Thai places and they serve it with lettuce. This dish is a must order every time. We also got the crispy pork belly with steamed rice. This dish on the other hand was slightly disappointing so I deducted one star. The pieces of pork were super dry and kind of bland. The sauce that comes with it is good. I had to drink lots of water to wash it down bc it was so dry. The ambience is nice for a date night or celebrating a special occasion. It was super dark inside so very intimate vibes but music is loud. Prices are anywhere between $18-45 for a dish. Portions are pretty generous for what you pay. read more
decided to bring my mom to LaoTable during a short trip to san francisco--definitely lived up to expectations! TLDR; a sit down restaurant with really nice ambiance, authentic lao/thai fusion dishes with really good flavors. a bit pricey (definitely has increased in the past few months) but great for a special occasion. // pad mee lao ~$23.95 // this noodle dish was very similar to a pad thai. it was thin rice noodles with a sweet flavor (with a bit of spice) and shrimp/vegetables. the portion was very generous (much bigger than it looks like in the picture) // s&p crispy pork belly ~$26.95 // crispy garlic pork belly with rice and a side soup. im not usually a fan of pork belly because it is so fatty but my mom really wanted to try this dish. the crispiness had a nice touch and i actually really enjoyed it. service was nice and friendly and food came out within 10 minutes. you can make online reservations too which is very nice. the mango sticky rice/shaved ice looked so good but we were too stuffed. would definitely come back next time i'm in SF! read more

I have been in the hunt for 'That' restaurant , the restaurant that Has-it-all. A restaurent that has delicious flavorful food, fun drinks, a little fancy-feeling interior, friendly service, easy to get to and is safe (within SF downtown), and reasonable price range, everyone had a good time whoever I went with . I think I found it. This is it! Laotable has it all. And after I came back here to eat a couple times, I am still excited about it and look forward to it. I had taken multiple different friends to try this place. Almost everyone love it. So Laotable has been a safe choice for me if I need to impress friends, in a casual way. Okay we went as a group of 8 and I believe we ordered a variety of dishes to share as a family style. The best of best: Spicy Thai basil chickens ( sounds normal but it's SOOO good; party favorite) Papaya salad (refreshing, tangy, crunchy, fruity, just good) Yellow curry ( spicy and full of curry flavor) Steaks are cooked perfect tender. And lamb shank company with garlicky herby sauce (just could be less salty) . Eggplant stir fried is flavorful that to you need rice Finally dessert , this another highlight of this restaurant. Mango shaved ice is awesome. While if you want to go to adventure : try the anchovy sundue. It's a umami sweet which is a magic created by combing ice cream, caramel sauce, on top of gooey sticky rice and milk bread, and sprinkles of dried anchovy. Try it ! Get excited! read more

What a fun place to dine! The ambience of the restaurant was great and the staff were helpful with any questions you had about their menu. They had great cocktails and drinks, which lead into the great meal we had! We had the garlic wings, crispy pork belly chips, and crispy rice salad as starters and they were great! We shared the garden fish as our meal and it was just as great and presentation was beautiful. They desserts are next level and definitely worth saving room for- the anchovy sundae is must try! read more

This restaurant has a great location, and a trendy, lively environment! I came here with a party of 9 for dinner on a Saturday around 6:30 pm with a reservation set on the same day. It was pretty packed and had young, lively energy once we walked inside, I really like the lighting and decorations as I can tell a lot of effort was put into them! As for the food, I tried the Spicy Thai Basil and the Pad Mee Lao, both of which were great but didn't have a unique factor that I kind of expected. While the portion sizes were massive for both of the dishes, the price of each justified it. Additionally, the dishes were served with pretty and interesting plating choices that made me expect a unique factor to each of the dishes I didn't find which is totally okay. The flavors on both of the dishes were great and had a little bit of spice as well! Overall, the service was responsive and fast moving, while the food was massive, flavorful but expensive! Tried LaoTable for the first time today and this is now one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. The food, the service, the experience... everything about LaoTable was a 5 star experience. Let's start with the service. Ben, our waiter, is a gem. So warm, friendly and eager to please. Ben made us feel right at home. He was also very knowledgeable. We were torn between a few dishes and Ben gave great insight and guidance on what to order. The food? Bomb.com. As you can see from the before and after photos, we decimated our meal. - Papaya Salad: Perfectly tangy, sweet, fresh and crisp. I can see why this is their most popular dish. - Basil Chicken: Wow. I couldn't get enough. Spicy, flavorful and sauced to perfection. The fried egg on top perfectly complimented the flavors too. - Khoi Tuna: Incredible. Fresh tuna, with a nice and sweet blend of lime, avocado, and mango. The combination melts in your mouth and leaves you wanting more. The ambiance? Fun and vibrant, yet still intimate and homey. LaoTable was one of the first restaurants I tried in SF, and as someone completely inexperienced with Laotian food, I thought it was very unique and yummy! But first the restaurant itself is quite bright, lively, and feels rather modern! The wait staff were great and the atmosphere of the restaurant is excellent for a hangout with your friends. We ordered the Garden Fish Platter and what came out this huge, gorgeous plate with a crisp tilapia, noodles, lettuce for wrapping, and a variety of toppings to bring it all together! While it was a bit overwhelming at first, digging into the Platter was an absolute treat with my friends and I tearing through the tilapia within ten minutes. We also ordered the summer roll appetizer and those were to die for! The peanut sauce was super tangy and tasty, and the summer rolls disappeared before I could even take a picture. While I had a great time at Lao Table, I would definitely recommend ordering more than just the Garden Platter as it's not particularly filling or unique with everything else Lao Table offers on the menu! read more

This is THE spot for Happy Hour! I mean seriously, where else do they offer HH Monday through Saturday 5-7 PM? They have an updated HH menu, and oysters are now priced $1.50 each, but its still a steal because those suckers are big! My date and I opted for the HH platter which includes 10 oysters, calamari, garlic wings, and lao sausage. This comes out on a beautiful platter and sheessssh. It's the perfect size and portion for 2 if you're not looking for a full on heavy dinner. Make sure you order the tom yum fries. They coat the fries with a dusting of tom yum powder and serve them with a side of ketchup. The fries could have been a little more crispy for me, but the tanginess of the flavoring is just mouthwatering good. The overall ambiance, decor and presentation of everything. It's all in the details. Each dish was beautifully plated. There's just nothing like eating off of nice dishware am I right? It elevates anything that is being served. All the servers and hosts were courteous and smiley too, so that made the whole experience even better. It's recommended you make a reservation or try to come as early as possible during HH. They have a a mid size dining area and a few outdoor seating, but they fill up really fast. When we finished our meal, there was a line to get in around 6:30 PM. I can't wait to come back for a real dinner. I peeped the dishes on the other tables around us, and I had total FOMO. See you next time, Lao Table! read more

Make memories with your friends here. Eating at Lao is not only about amazing food but about being transported to a magic place between Thailand and Laos right in the middle of San Francisco. We first ordered the Lemongrass tea ($7 ea.), which comes wildly adorned and garnished with cookies. Lemongrass in tea not only tastes good, at Lao it's amazing. We ordered the Fresh Spring Rolls with Tofu and instead of the thin vermicelli they come with a thick rice wrap and a thinner than usual dipping sauce with peanut bits. We also got the Vegetable Crispy Rolls ($14.95) for appetizers even though we didn't order them; but Fate does not make mistakes, at all... You'll have to wrap the crunchy rolls in lettuce, with mint and other green leaves to then dip them in the delicious sticky sauce. They are just delicious! My order was the Red Curry Vegetarian, Gluten-free and more than medium-spicy ($19.95). Flavor of the vegetables like broccoli, carrots and tofu were fresh enough to come up through the tasty, spicy broth; very, very good. My dear friend shared some of her Garlic Pepper Tofu ($20.95, you can order an egg on the side as well as the spicy sauce) and it is so delicious that I a thought she could be my favorite person just for sharing with me but she's much much more than that. I'll have to get that next time I'm back. Since I was on a roll trying everyone's dishes on the table, I was offered to try the amazing Grilled Pork Shoulder ($24.95), something I also have to order next time... I just have to come back again and again, and again. We ended with a Matcha Lava Cake ($16.95), surrounded by fresh berries and with matcha ice cream on the side. It was good. #ruizmedina read more
One word: wow! Presentation was impressive and most importantly flavors were bold and menu selections were unique yet taste was authentic! We ordered a ton of items on the menu: 1. papaya salad ($20.95): Love the plating of this salad! Super fun as you can eat it however you want (wrap or on its own like an actual salad). Fun dish to share with the table! Super flavorful too! 2. Grilled whole Calamari ($16.95): it was alright, but had a nice grill taste. It came with a sweet chili lime sauce. Simple but really had a nice flavor profile. Not fishy at all! 3. Pineapple fried rice ($18.95): I'm not a huge fan of fried rice in general, but this dish was not bad at all. Love the juicy pineapple chunks in the fried rice! Other than that, nothing really stood out about this dish. Spicy eggplant ($15.95): one of my favorite dish! Sooo flavorful and has a nice kick of spices! A bit spicy, but overall it was a tasty dish and highly recommend! Forgot to mention this comes with a side of white rice! Khao Poon Crab curry ($35.95): generous portion of crab meat in this noodle dish. Only downside was the flavor didn't stand out. But definitely worth a try! Mango sticky rice shaved ice ($12.95): the shaved ice tasted like artificial mango syrup but love how the ice was so fine! No hard ice chunks! The sticky rice was topped with real mango and it was so good! It came with a side of coconut milk! Again, love the presentation! Parking: free street parking after 6pm, other than that, I suggest garage parking to reduce risk of being broken into! read more

How busy on weekdays?
I went on a weekday and the place was not busy. If you have a large party I would recommend calling to make a reservation.
Is it easy to find parking?
There's a parking garage across the street in an alley.
Does Lao Table have Keto friendly options?
Absolutely! They have many meat/poultry dishes (over veggies, for example).
Is kids friendly?
There are no particular efforts from the restaurants to entertain kids. Most of the diners are adults. The food has a kick, which might be a little bit too spicy for kids.
How bad is the wait time for lunch on weekends?
If you make a reservation you are all set and it isn't hard to make one even the day before. Great restaurant!
Do they still have the $1.00 oyster happy hour?
Yes! Every Monday to Friday 16:30 to 19:00.
