Love all the ice cream and most of the workers. I did not appreciate the one worker who butt into my conversation with my cousin when I told her there was a lapperts in San Diego before. YES there was one, look it up. YES, they served the Kauai pie there, sadly NO, they are no longer open. She kept interrupting me trying to make a point. Girl, I'm from Kauai too. I don't live there anymore but all I have to say is please respect your visitors. That was really rude and it was almost like you were calling me a liar in front of my family and other customers and you just wouldn't stop. It was embarrassing! Not for me, but you, because the ones from San Diego have been to that location many times and knows it exists so we just paid for our things and walked out without saying anything to you. All their ice cream is ono! And most of their workers are really friendly and helpful. Things like this happen but that does not always mean they deserve a bad review. Pretty delightful selection of flavors, many with a Hawaiian twist to them. Some flavors that stand out are the Java Lava, Lilikoi sorbet, White Chocolate Macnut, and Nene. All perfect after a day on the beach. Just beware that the place is very popular and just about everytime we walked by after dinner there was a line out the door consisting of 7-10 ice cream lovers. The fact that the flavors are not all listed conveniently for everyone to see makes it very awkward for people to all circle and re-circle around the ice cream cases trying - desperately - to peer in to see all the flavors. Simple lists on the board / on the cases / in conveniently located spots around the store would solve this. As would a proper queue. I'm not sure what the excitement is here. The ice cream was good, not great, and was definitely not worth the cost. The employees acted like they would rather be anywhere but there and one of them actually rolled her eyes when we asked for a waffle cone on the side (an item that's on the menu as a side). Another employee prepared our sundae and used her fingers to wipe the hot sundae off the edge of the cup three different times. As we were paying she also used her fingers to wipe the brownie off the knife. Between the bad attitudes of the employees and the unsafe food handling, we won't be back. read more

Amazing ice cream. I love coffee flavored ice cream and got the kona lava java in a Mac nut chocolate covered waffle cone. This was probably my favorite coffee ice cream flavor I have ever had. This is a super lame location at Kukuiula shopping . I've tried it many times and each time there is another reason not to go. It's way expensive and they have horrible service always obviously new people but the same terrible manager They didn't have a waffle bowl for the "can't decide". Not my problem. They had to have 3 employees come over and talk about it amongst themselves. They finally say we can use a "shake cup". I said no- we don't want them all melting on each other can you just compromise and use 2 of the scoop cups . They have to call manager over. She looks at me and says "no". To the owners: I suggest you hire a decent manager and some people who actually know how to scoop ice cream. On vacation in Kauai in the Koloa area, we were delighted to come across a Lappert's Hawaii ice cream location. This was a must stop, as we have been fans of Lappert's from their Sausalito, California location. Sure enough my wife's favorite Kauai Pie ice cream was here - and how fun to enjoy it straight from the Kauai source! We also loved their Chillers, especially the Kauai Pie one. Very nice, modern interior, much better than the Sausalito location. It's wonderful to get out of the heat and cool off in their air-conditioned environment. Tip: if you are coming back a few times, get the Lappert's ice cream card that they will stamp with every purchase. After 10 purchases you get a free ice cream! We stopped here a couple times, and my only Kauai regret is not getting here more before leaving! read more

So yummy! Luckily we were only in Kauai for 3 days or else we surely would have gained a ton of weight from eating here. Everyday we stopped in to grab some of their delicious ice cream! My first ice cream was White Chocolate Macadamia Nut. This was definitely rich. There were bits of white chocolate throughout the ice cream. Couldn't really taste the macadamia but mouthwatering nonetheless. If you want something lighter, I recommend Auntie Lilikoi's Passion Fruit Sorbet and Hayden Mango Sorbet. I had this for breakfast on the last day, haha. Whatever you decide on, definitely get it in the waffle cone. They are freshly made and come on, waffle cone tastes better than a cup ;) For all you San Diegan, do not mistaken this Lappert's for the one in SD.
