Wow! Where to begin? My boyfriend's favorite food and his major birthday dinner seems like a perfect fit. Beautiful outside patio. 40 minute drive from us, but Freakin Incan does not have outdoor seating. I joined the email club. Nice welcome email with a free welcome draft. Nice touch! Then I booked the birthday table through the reservation system online, very detailed, time, no of pax, outdoor preference, birthday, etc etc. I hear nothing back!!! Three days go by. It's now the birthday afternoon I call the restaurant because I'm nervous. They have no sign of my birthday reservation anywhere???? The manager Shelly blames the reservation system they are using says they have trouble with it. (I told her I was glad I called them) She said they cannot promise an outdoor table? . Okay, I get it, weather is beyond your control but a little rain does not concern us. So I'm told to call back that evening to see if we can be accommodated???? It's a major birthday I don't have a back up plan. I called back later and said we would take indoors or out, even though we have pre-existing conditions and prefer outside with the Covid situation. When we arrived the Manager Shelly made NO attempt to greet us or accommodate us on the patio. (Not even an attempt to have an outdoor table wiped off) The food was pretty good. Our server was overwhelmed and a stupid party of 6 or 7 had her doing separate checks while other tables were waiting and had not even been greeted yet. I had to go to the bar to pick up our drinks as we were nearly done with dinner and our poor overwhelmed server could not get them out to us. The drinks were just sitting there in the bar well dying. Overall we would not drive that far to go back again, if we were going to sit indoors we could have just gone to Freakin Incan after all! read more

I had the pleasure of eating at Las Brasas this past weekend. Having never eaten Peruvian food, I didn't know what to expect, but I had a good feeling about it. Walking up to the front door, my good feeling was confirmed as I was met with the delicious smell of cooking meat. Everything we ordered was great. We had the Chaufa Pollo and the Lomo Anticucho. Both had so much flavor. For dessert we had the flan, which was also very good. Having moved to Atlanta from out of state, I've been more than disappointed with the food I've had here, but I knew that I was just trying the wrong places. Las Brasas gave me hope. WOW! I can't believe I've lived in the greater Decatur area for 4 years and I've never been here before. We stopped in for Sunday brunch since we saw that they had patio seating available (and there was only one other table being served at the time) and we are so glad that we did! We ordered their fried plantains, traditional roasted chicken, and French fries. The food was simple, but the most flavorful food that I've had at a restaurant in a very long time. The sauces definitely made the dishes even better (if that's even possible). The flavors added some wonderful complexity to whatever we dipped into them. We also tried their Lucuma cheesecake (which looked so delicious but I forgot to photograph it before diving right in). It tasted like a better version of pumpkin cheesecake, and had a strawberry compote on top. Definitely recommend. Also, our server was wonderful. Great food. Great vibe. This was my first visit. My husband and I LOVE to try out new (to us) places and different cuisine. Las Brasas fit the bill! We got our order to go. Starting with covid service, they are doing a great job at social distancing and cleanliness! Everything we ordered was AMAZING! Our order was: Papa Rellena Elotes Street Corn Pato Corazon Lomo We were pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was, even an hour after we picked up our order. I don't want to downplay ANY of the dishes we ordered....but we were MOST excited about the Papa Rellena. When we saw this on the menu, we KNEW we had to try them (and other dishes). The Papa Rellena did NOT disappoint! They are delicious by themselves, with pico, with the sauce (I think it is avocado cream), or with pico and the sauce. There was so much food, we both have plenty of leftovers to take to work. If you are looking for true to flavor Peruvian food, you MUST come here! This will not be our last visit to Las Brasas. Best dish on the menu by far is the lomo saltado. Papas ala huancaina are pretty good too. My husband likes the chicken chaufa (it's a really big portion). Their chicken has a very unique seasoning--almost tastes like they use cinnamon or other spices that would normally be used on sweet baked food. Not my favorite but I know others do. Sangria has been on point every time. Peruvian ceviche is my fave with the sweet potato. For the price, I would say that their ceviche was middle of the road. read more

Oh... the Lomo. Filet so succulent and well spiced...it just melted in your mouth. The yukon potatoes were a treat compared to your average mashed or french. First came to Las Brasas during late night and I had no where else to eat! It definitely didn't disappoint. It is a nice place with good atmosphere. I really enjoyed interacting with the owner(?), who is a really nice guy and gave excellent service. I've seen the other reviews for some dishes, however I have not tried those yet. The one thing I always get here is the Chicken Chufa, which is an excellent value and great taste. It's basically like chicken fried rice, Peruvian style. There is copious amount of chicken and it's paired with this sauce I really like (though recently it has gotten spicer sadly). There is a lot of food and you're sure to have leftovers. It is a great value.I've always meant to try the drinks there, I've seen some individuals order it and they seem quite interesting. Nonetheless, I hope to try some of the other dishes here and update this review. Service as I alluded to earlier is great. The food comes out pretty timely and I've ordered take out from here (on the Yelp App) and it was quite speedy service. I will admit I have not tried other Peruvian institutions, but as I do I will update this review accordingly. Bottom line: come during a late night for some excellent filling food! read more

Comparing this place to Viva Chicken in Charlotte: The sauces are not free and don't come with all entrees. The different sauces didn't taste as good as Viva Chicken's. The price is higher. I ordered a whole chicken which came with no sides or sauce. Weird. The fried rice was rather bland and greasy. I won't eat here again. Two stars because our server was so sweet. I selected this restaurant as a birthday lunch for a family member because of all the good reviews. I made reservations, however, when I arrived I saw it wasn't really needed. We came right when it opened on a Sunday afternoon and it was empty. Based on all the reviews I was excited and thought the birthday person would be too, NOT the case. The inside was tired. Tables were sticky, cushions worn thin, and visible dirt/dust stuck to the sealing and light fixtures. That was the first thing the birthday guest noticed and I felt terrible. If it wasn't for having kids in our party, we probably would have left in search of a better option. Still I had high hopes for the food. After all, some of the most unsuspecting places have amazing food. Unfortunately, things didn't get better. There were five of us and everyone's food came out together except the birthday person. When it finally did show, she wasn't impressed with her vegetable fried rice. I had the pollo saltado and my partner had the lomo. For me it was a too salty, meat was dry, and it came out cold. My partner agreed it was salty, but he enjoyed the lomo. Kids had the chicken combo and didn't eat much besides the fries. Yuca fries were not a hit with any of us. And then I order a tradicional drink from Peru called pisco sour I love sour drinks and this one was really good based on egg white. Then I ordered the lomo saltado as my supper but honestly this is why my star less it was not amazing to me it was somehow basic and definitely something I cook home in my daily basis. Came here on a Tuesday night and had a simple dinner of grilled chicken, ceviche and fried yucca. The ceviche flavor was good but the fish was kind of fishy. Chicken and the green sauce was amazing! Could not stop eating the chicken just super flavorful, soft and moist. My husband had been to Peru and said that the skin should be more crispy. Though this meal has inspired me to look for Peruvian chicken recipes.
