Doesn't look like much of a restaurant when you walk past it but I assure you it a restaurant .When entering you walk into a glum, not very well lit dining area. There's usually no waiters or waitresses around and if there is one that means their either actually working or it's somewhat busy. The waitress who was serving us had an attitude that was so terrible it seemed liked she didn't even want too be there. While my s.o was ordering she was cut off before she even finished her order. I have been here multiple times and have tried different things on their menu. The best thing that's on their menu is their chips and salsa, their guacamole is 7 dollars and you get a little small cup of it that's not even equivalent to half a avocado. The Chile Relleno was dry and looked like it had been left out over night under a heat lamp, the chicken taco was sub par and barely edible, I looked at the sad burrito I had which looked like it came from a frozen pack. margaritas are alright but I always get huge ice chunks in mine the last 3 times I ordered it and it's like there's no alcohol in it. The side of rice they give you with your meal is rarely fresh and usually hard. The best thing about this place is this one man who is so nice and generous and I wish I could've got his name because he is the only reason I come back. If you want white washed terrible Un authentic Mexican food then this is your place to go. read more

We just moved near Las Brisas and it has become our Friday night dinner spot. I am from San Diego and have always had a hard time finding good Mexican food in LA but this place definitely does the trick. You get a soup with your dinner entre and the Albondigas soup (meatball soup) is delicious! Their cheese enchiladas and carne asada burrito are also very good. I can't believe I grew up in the South Bay, graduated from RUHS and never even knew this place existed. This is definitely an old-school Mexican place. The interior looks like it hasn't been updated since 1972 (but still clean and organized). That's part of what makes this place awesome. The flat-screen TV's don't really fit in with the whole old-school vibe, though. Anyway, who cares about the decorations, how about the food? I judge my family-style Mexican restaurants based on the salsa, beans, rice, cheese and enchilada sauce. Here's a brief synopsis: Salsa: You get TWO kinds at your table. One is traditional salsa, spicier than your El Torito/Acapulco variety. Very good. The other kind is more of a "hot sauce" type. It's dark red, I think it's roasted, it's thicker than the other one and it's very very tasty. Both are awesome. Rice: Soft, fluffy, but not mushy. Very good. Beans: Pretty good. I've had better, but these were more than serviceable. Cheese: Very flavorful. I had the cheese enchilada plate and it was great. Enchilada sauce: Hmmm. OK I guess. It was tomato-based, and I prefer chile-based enchilada sauce. Some other dude here on Yelp recommended the Enchiladas Rancheras, with a tomatillo-based sauce, so I think I'll try that another time. I will definitely be back. I can't say it's the best Mexican place in the South Bay (that honor goes to Burnt Tortilla, duh), but still it's highly recommended. read more

After a long week teaching and state testing, I went in by myself for a margarita and some taquitos with guacamole on the side. The taquitos came out smothered in guacamole and black olives. When I told the server, he took them back. I then got what I thought was a new order but quickly realized they just wipe the guacamole off and sent back the soggy, slimy taquitos. When asked If I wanted a new order I said no, just bring me my bill. They brought me my bill and I paid for the $13 margarita. They also have an awful guy on the guitar who is really a turn off to listen to while trying to eat. Needless to say, they lost a customer today. read more

Im from Los Angeles. The only thing there is more of here than actors, photographers, and screen writers are mexican restaurants. I have tried all of the rest of them in the South Bay and this is my favorite besides Red Onion in PV. Feels like home when you are there and they give you 2 types of salsa with as many chips as you can eat. (usually at least 2 baskets) Not too greasy, and very quick even when it's busy. Went here for the first time just last week. I have to say for a place that has been at this location for as long as it has, it was astonishingly bad. The chicken enchilada was one of the few edible items on the plate. I only ate that and the bland rice because the tamale was completely inedible. Lean Cuisine makes better rice and tamales! The beans were, well, the only way I can describe them is gray slop. Totally tasteless meal. The chips were thick and tasteless as well. No variety in the spiciness of the three dipping sauces for the chips. Complete waste of money. How do people eat this stuff? read more

I love Mexican food and I love this place. A lot of other Taquerias cater to Americans. But this place makes awesome authentic Mexican food! I especially love their cactus soup which nobody else around the area makes! I usually get the 2x enchilada plate with either cheese or chicken. read more

Just came home from a family dinner, and I'm very disappointed. Let me just say that this place has really gone down hill. I personally have been coming here since the 90's!!!! I have memories of my parents bringing my sister and I here and telling us how it's been there since my dad was little. The food used to be good. The service used to be good. But the last few times we have came here it has been really mediocre, and just plain awful. Today was the last straw: My family had gotten there before me, I walk in and they already have their drinks. I sit down. A couple minutes later someone comes to the table and asks what I'd like to drink. A lonnnnnnng time goes by and they take our order (by this time we are all done with our soft drinks and need refills......they have yet to ask if we'd like refills). An even lonnnnnnnger time goes by and we have to flag someone down for refills, we ask for guac and pico de gallo for our chips. Some time later they bring the refills, guac and pico, but by this time we have no chips. Again, no one offered us more chips. We have to wave them down for more chips. When they brought more chips they also brought my sons bean and cheese burrito, and we all said FINALLY!!! We were even making jokes about why they were taking so long, like having to kill the cow....or going to the RB pier and catching the shrimp...lol we had to entertain ourselves somehow!!! Literally an HOUR AND A HALF went by since we ordered and we finally get our meals. They were ok. Nothing too special, like I said above, mediocre. We ask for more olives because the kids wanted some. Let me just make a note that my kids love olives, we get some whenever we go to restaurant, you know just a couple for them to munch on...and we never get charged for them....Well, Las Brisas charges you for them!!! They charged $1.50 for a couple extra olives for the kids. I was floored. I was going to complain. It's like seriously, are you really going to charge us for a couple olives to satisfy my kids while we wait over an HOUR for our food?!?! This is going to be our last time at this place. Alot of the reviews on here are malicious and can be easily dismissed. The food here is consistently good and the prices are much better than your average Mexican restaurant. I always get the chicken fajitas which are delicious. The place has a family type feel to it and I always get this feeling like this place has been here since Redondo Beach belonged to Mexico! Went to this little hole in the wall and it was like walking into a long ago Mexican grandmas house in a village. Lots of unmatched art work, trinkets, pictures, metal signs and just a bunch of grandma stuff! It was very clean and they had a small bar which they were in the process of making margaritas for a group of patrons. It gave you a homey feeling as we sat down. Service was great. Our waiter was really nice and efficient. My hubby ordered the Carne Asada burrito which came with rice and beans. He chose Sopa de Nopal ( cactus soup). It was delicious. So flavorful. Creamy and was just full of flavor. I ordered the Chile Verde which came with soup and rice and beans. Since we have a vac action house in Rosarito , Mexico we go out to various restaurants all the time. The food here was better than some restaurants. Chile verde meat was soft and delicious, a tiny bit salty for me since I don't use salt but it was really, really good. Had fun conversation with the waiter and truly enjoyed our meal. Real Mexican comfort food. If you want yo have a nice, quiet delicious meal and you can come as you are, you gotta try this place. We will be back! Enjoy!!! read more

When we don't want to spend a bunch at Ortega 120, we come here and it never disappoints. It's well-priced and every entree comes with either delicious homemade soup or a fresh salad. The enchiladas are delicious -- we always order them. The only thing I'd caution is the chimichanga, which is several mini chimis instead of the one big one people are used to. Typical small restaurant atmosphere. Margaritas were good and about 85% of the guests had one (I had a beer). Chicken enchiladas were excellent, simply made with moist chucks of chicken. Guacamole is fresh and goes well with all dishes. Salsa is good, but nothing to keep you coming back. The taquitos were good, rice was okay, but the beans were the best with their homestyle flavor. All in all it was really good dinning experience and I would recommend that you try it at least once to form your own opinion. Come with an opened mind and you will not be disappointed. read more

I'm going to tell you the truth here and many regulars will not like it. The food is not really good. I've tried Mexican food from a variety of different cities (including Mexico city) and I've had better in Kansas City. The prices would be considered high for the quality of food served. LB's has only made a name for itself because it's the only game in town. I have been going here for many years for the atmosphere, location, and drinks. My girlfriend enjoys it much more than I and she has been a dedicated regular for years too. The staff is competent and sometimes friendly but more than a few times little things have been forgotten or mishandled. Our favorite waiter disappeared a couple years back and the service never quite returned to his high level. (I will say it has improved recently with some new hirings.) The drink selection is varied with different beers, spirits, and margarita's. I would suggest to try the mango margarita as it's made with fresh fruit. I must give props to the main bartender as he has treated us extremely well. What is perplexing is that my Mom has come for longer than I and she still feels warmly about it. The food has not changed since she first started but it is in desperate need of improvement. The meat dishes are usually dry, bland, or fatty. The beans and rice come from the lower supermarket shelf and I haven't even ventured toward the fish. A plus would be the salsas; one is hot and chunky the other spicier and smoky. Go for the drinks and we'll see you at the bar. read more

I live walking distance from here and love that it's so close so I had high hopes! I would consider this your average Mexican restaurant, nothing extraordinary but not gross either. They seem to have different menus for lunch and dinner, smaller menu for lunch. I was hoping to get the carne asada or carnitas plate for lunch but they seemed to only have combos and burritos and tacos for lunch. They also dont use real guacamole :( i love real avocados, not the cream kind They do make a damn good margarita, though, preferrably the mango one. Or strawberry. I hope they step up their game with their menu because the place sure has potential! read more

Dora is very kind and went out of her to go beyond in serving me and my 4 year old daughter. We walked in to use the bathroom and she greeted us with a smile and said of course. Then my daughter said she was hungry so I decided to take a look at the menu before leaving. Dora offered my daughter a balloon from their decorations for the holidays that were displaced around the restaurant. She kneeled down and even tied it around her wrist for her. Overall she was very cheerful, helpful, and kind. She drew a heart and a smiley face on my daughters cup to go and got our food prepared quickly. The food is descent. We typically get tacos & meatball soup. Both are very good. I have also tried the camarones (shrimp) dishes and I was pleased. The prices won't break your wallet & they serve skinny margaritas.
