Please stop the music! Okay, I know this is how some peeps enjoy their weekends, but personally I want to enjoy conversation and Cadillac Margaritas with my friends. Definatley the best Margaritas on the cheap! We usually find a back booth when the music is playing. I used to be a huge fan of their carnitas plate, however, lately it's been a little fatty - the crunchy chips, hot tortillas, spicy salsa (same as CaliMex) beans & cheese keep me coming back for more, I'm sure the Margarita has something to do with that as well... 1 in a 1/2 is my limit, otherwise I'm a little kookoo. the waiter is a little slow on the english side, which sometimes makes ordering a pain, crossing my fingers hoping he gets it right this time... Came here for Sunday lunch. Good food, great service, great drinks. Margaritas, like others have said, are indeed delicious. Me and my girl got one each and split another at the end. We were both feeling a little tipsy when we left. The chips and salsa were also very solid. I got a side of guacamole and that was cool, although I thought it could've had more kick to it, maybe some tomatoes or salt or something. I got the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. Super. The beans tasted like they were made there, not out of a can. They didn't blow my mind but they were cool. Rice had good flavor. My girl got a green chile and cheese tamale and a chile relleno. The tamale didn't have much filling, a lot of corn masa, but the taste was good, and the chile relleno had great sauce. She enjoyed them. Overall this is a solid Mexican restaurant. First I want to mention that they have a SMALL parking lot, maybe 8 or 9 spaces at the most. You should probably plan on carpooling if you're coming here with friends. Otherwise, the restaurant itself is a pretty decent size, with multiple tables and booths. Food was good. I ordered the lunch combo #1, which came with a crispy taco, chile relleno, and enchilada. For the taco and enchilada, you're given a choice of meat, and I ordered beef for both. The beef is shredded, not ground, and flavorful without being too spicy. The chile relleno was mild as well, which is actually how I prefer it, so I thought it was great. For those who prefer their food on the spicy side, they provide each table with two salsas (and small spoons) to add more heat to your dish. Service was attentive, with drinks being refilled without having to ask. Definitely worth a return visit when in the mood for Mexican. read more

Egads. No me gusta! I read a Yelp review that mentioned "skinny margaritas." I'm all for caloric intake reduction, so I started off my dinner by ordering one. The server had no idea what I was talking about. After consulting with another co-worker, he brought a margarita to the table - I have no idea if it was skinny or fat. It was unremarkable. After being told that mole is only offered twice a month (what?!), I opted for a chicken enchilada and a cheese enchilada with their standard sauce. The chicken was cubed and tasted like processed meat. I couldn't eat it. The cheese enchildada was gross, but more appealing than the chicken. My dinner companion ordered the pork chop and couldn't eat it. "It was the driest, toughest pork chop [he] ever tasted." The chips and salsa were good, and consequently, were the only redeeming characteristics of this joint. read more

I'm not a huge fan of Mexican food to begin with, so maybe I'm being a little harsh. I ordered taquitos and it only came with 2 :( don't I usually get 3?? The rice and beans that came with my taquitos were very bland, like they were afraid to use too much salt and seasoning. The guac was okay. Cactus soup was a little salty but good...portion was small though. Honestly, nothing special about this place -- it's just conveniently located near my house. All I can say about Las Brisas is that it's La Capilla with a more basic menu and fairer prices. The food is good, especially their refried beans, but our waiter took far too long to refill our waters and our chips were never replenished. Good place to go on a budget or a cheap date you aren't trying too hard to impress. But if I'm given a choice, I'd rather burn the extra money and head over to La Capilla. read more

Perhaps the worst tacos I've ever had. Who ever heard of a fried flour shell for a taco? Chimichangas were tiny and dry. Enchaladas were bland and horrible. Chili rellenos were small and processed food in appearance. The food was no better than "Patio" brand frozen dinners. The Margaritas were decent. Service was good. Okay -- first off, I'm a fan of this place, not so much for their food as for the ambiance and for the history it has in my family. On a rainy April day in 1957, my parents' garden reception had to be moved to the nearest and most available place so their guests wouldn't get drenched, and that place was Las Brisas in their lower level banquet room. With that said, I've tried pretty much everything on the menu, and while I've never really had a bad meal, I think the best is their meatball (albondiga) soup and their crispy, shredded beef tacos. Also, their chips and salsa and Peach Margaritas are pretty dang good. And frankly, you just can't beat the price. If you go on a Friday or Saturday evening, you'll be treated to some nice live music provided by a local musician. VERY nice. read more

Best family owned Mexican Restaurant in town. The Margaritas are strong and good. If it's busy you can wait a little but it's always worth it. I'd rather wait than to be rushed and hurried to eat, pay and leave. Carne Asada taco plate dinner special is THE BOMB, filling and yummy. Love the environment and sad that people were complaining about the one man band and that he was "too loud"....sigh. They just don't get the whole cultural thing. Anyway, great place to take your family and they have tv's and a little bar area so you don't miss the sports games if you're into that. ok, you need to take review with a grain of salt cuz i have been coming here since i was 7 years old (im 31 now). the only thing i ever get there is the cheese enchiladas verdes rancheras. THEY ARE THE BEST....EVER!!! i have eaten tomatillo sauce at a bagillion different mexican restaurants all over the state, and no one comes close to replicating the level of refinement and consitency that this restaurant has. the closest i have come to finding a good substitute for Las Brisas' green sauce is at Tamarindo in Oakland.....for like 3-4 times the cost!! on top of that, their refried beans are some of the best around...i just wish that they gave you more of them. i also love their tortilla chips and salsa. the chips are always nice and crispy without being too thin or thick. they give you two types of salsa. one is really spicy and darker red and is pureed. the other is finely chopped and still spicy and is delicious. i usually like to take a few spoonfuls of the spicy stuff and throw it in with the regular salsa....mmmm! i have also tried their carne asada which was also great. their margaritas are the bomb also. their prices are pretty cheap and the atmosphere is fun but not upscale in any way. the enclosed front patio is also great to sit out on if it is warm enough (no heaters), but then, this is redondo beach, so on those five days out of the year where the high temperature fails to climb higher than 62, it is best to eat inside. it is defintiely what you would consider a "hole in the wall" place, but then those are usually the best places. now, like i said, i am very biased to this place as i have been coming here for close to 25 years, and honestly i have brought some friends here that have not been too impressed. rumor has it, their tacos suck. i wouldnt know, because i KNOW where the goods are, and its in their green chili enchiladas! people that scoff at this place must not have tried these because if they did, they would shut the hell up and be thankful that they had access to such wonderfulness. i guess i also appreciate the simpler things when it comes to mexican food, such as quality beans, rice, chips and salsa. i find more often than not, that most mexican restaurants dont seem hit the mark on all of these items, but not las brisas....they have it all down. read more

The food tastes like something you'd eat in someone's mother's kitchen. That said, I think that Las Brisas may be slightly overpriced; but, with the lack of decent options in the south bay, I have chosen to overlook this. The chips and salsa were plentiful, and we were offered two salsa options without asking - mild and a more spicy chile. The margaritas were delicious (also slightly overpriced) and my enchiladas reminded me of those I would eat on one of my aunt's lazy days. The enchilada sauce probably came from a can, but it really doesn't cheapen the flavor of the dish. The beans were creamy and topped with a crisp layer of cheese while the rice was a little dry but delicious with peas sprinkled throughout. The service was great, even if I got the feeling that our waiter was trying to get me drunk. I'll go again. When I have a craving, I have a CRAVING! We finished dinner at Fish Bar and wanted dessert, but what?? FLAN!! Upon a recommendation from a friend, we decided to give Las Brisas a try. Las Brisas is located in Redondo Beach on Artesia Blvd less than a mile from our house, so why not?? We loved the flan. It was a good consistency with a nice caramel sauce that wasn't too sweet. I've been looking for better Mexican food in the South Bay for a while now and I think I found the place! I had the chile verde and my girl had the chile relleno & tamale and both were fantastic. The flavors reminded me of the humble restaurants you'll find all over East Los Angeles. If you want better tasting Mexican Food that is close to the stuff mom makes, this is a step in the right direction. (The margaritas were wild too!) I love this place. Not like a man loves a woman, more akin to how a man loves to eat a giant plate of nachos every Sunday night. Las Brisas is a weekend institution in my home. I'm a big fan of the carnitas and the nachos. The beans are perfect. It's hard to go wrong with anything they make served with beans. I could probably eat shoe leather topped with Las Brisas beans. Doesn't look like much of a restaurant when you walk past it but I assure you it a restaurant .When entering you walk into a glum, not very well lit dining area. There's usually no waiters or waitresses around and if there is one that means their either actually working or it's somewhat busy. The waitress who was serving us had an attitude that was so terrible it seemed liked she didn't even want too be there. While my s.o was ordering she was cut off before she even finished her order. I have been here multiple times and have tried different things on their menu. The best thing that's on their menu is their chips and salsa, their guacamole is 7 dollars and you get a little small cup of it that's not even equivalent to half a avocado. The Chile Relleno was dry and looked like it had been left out over night under a heat lamp, the chicken taco was sub par and barely edible, I looked at the sad burrito I had which looked like it came from a frozen pack. margaritas are alright but I always get huge ice chunks in mine the last 3 times I ordered it and it's like there's no alcohol in it. The side of rice they give you with your meal is rarely fresh and usually hard. The best thing about this place is this one man who is so nice and generous and I wish I could've got his name because he is the only reason I come back. This is as close as authentic Mexican food in the south bay gets. It's got a very mom and pop shop feel and the food is amazing. I always order the beef enchiladas with red sauce. They give you a meatball soup with every order. They are friendly and clean and and very reasonably priced for the portions of food you get. Dine in or take out is very easy. We went out last and it was cold, rainy and blustery. I'm not sure why we picked Las Brisas as we hadn't been in years and we have other Mexican restaurants nearby to where we live now. I used to take my children here back in the late seventies, early eighties and being it was close to my joint I could wander over here or to Popeye's for a evening of driverless drinking abandon. During this time I met my future wife and took her there also. Last night she had Taquitos and I the Chile Rellanos with beef burrito combo and a couple of icy Tecates, um! But I still stand by what I said about the chips and salsa! first off, best chips & salsa around. hands down. Happy hour is from 3-6:30. you get 2 tacos for $2 and any beer for $2.50. The food is great! the service is always friendly and quick. The margaritas are good as well. they have a wide variety of flavors from classic to mango. they seem to be a little stronger if you order them on the rocks. As far as ordering goes, the lunch menu and the dinner menu are similar but the numbering is slightly different. Ive enjoyed everything ive ordered from them, but I love the chicken tostada salad. My boyfriend and my dad always order a #10, which is the classic taco & enchilada combo with rice and beans (#9 on the lunch menu btw). The chille rellano is great too. read more

We just moved near Las Brisas and it has become our Friday night dinner spot. I am from San Diego and have always had a hard time finding good Mexican food in LA but this place definitely does the trick. You get a soup with your dinner entre and the Albondigas soup (meatball soup) is delicious! Their cheese enchiladas and carne asada burrito are also very good. Maybe the bartender was off that night, but I didnt find the margaritas strong in the slightest. I ordered the house margarita (on the rocks) first, as did my husband, and we both agreed it tasted like we were drinking lemonade. I couldnt detect any tequila at all. Second time around I ordered a cadillac margarita...possibly a little bit better, but still too sweet and not strong enough. Food was ok. I had to enchiladas verdes and they tasted alright, but nothing I would want to order again. Husband had a buritto which was also ok. Would possibly eat there again if I wasnt in the mood for margitas... Oh, I should say, that they are very friendly there. EDIT: I originally gave 3 stars for week margarita and bland food, but we went back last week and had a wonderful experience. The margaritas were awesome, seriously as good as it gets.
