Solid 3.5 stars!! 5 for service (Lina), 2 for weird pricing policies. I normally don't review a place after just one visit, but I have had my lashes done by two different people since moving to San Diego and both experiences were awful and caused major damage to my natural lashes. Enter Lina! I messaged her on yelp and she called me back right away. I talked to her about all of the horrible lash experiences I have had in San Diego (after 10 years of great experiences in LA). She was great! Talked me through what was possible and we set an appointment. Upon arrival she did a thorough consultation and assessment of the condition of my lashes and we set out a plan. I've never had such a thorough consultation for lash extensions. Personally, I loved it! The result- Lina did a better job than anyone else I've gone to in DTSD!! She's really fantastic! She's knowledgeable about lash care and the right products to use. She's also super sweet! I took off 1.5 stars because HOLY HECK THEY ARE EXPENSIVE!! $240 for a full synthetic set! So after tip, I walked out paying $290 for lashes and that was with a first-timer's discount. Nutso. In LA I never paid more than $160 for classic, volume or hybrid synthetic. Maybe $200 for silk. $240 seems crazy to me. The thing that upset me is that another woman came in at the same time as me, started at the same time as me and ended a little bit after me, yet her price was $85 because it was technically a fill (from a different lash studio). It was also her first time at this lash studio (and she was a rude woman, not that the price would change, but she was). Seems odd that two people that took the same amount of time and both first-timers to that business had such a HUGE price discrepancy at check out. $85 vs $240?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? What?! I have a fill scheduled but I may keep looking given the pricing. Sometimes I like to take a break from lashes, but I'm not paying $290 (or more) each time I need a new set. I will say that the place was empty, and they have an entire second floor that isn't being used. IF they want more clientele, they need to think about reducing their price point for full sets. The fill price is standard. Or at least don't let people that are paying $240 know that the person next to them is paying $85 for the same amount of time and service. read more

I gifted my sister a lash session with Lashbar Downtown right before her baby shower. I loved that their location is far enough from the crowds downtown and that it was easy and convenient to find street parking. My sister was so comfortable that she fell asleep during her session. Her lashes were beautiful! I especially appreciated all of the safety precautions that were in place to ensure that clients were safe during these uncertain times. It was my first time at Lashbar in downtown San Diego and let me just tell you that is was not just a service but an experience! I walked in and was kindly greeted by the employees at the front. I was offered Champaign or water to start with. (You have to try their lychee Champaign) I had an appointment set up so I did not have to wait at all. The stylist was very helpful. She explained the procedures and helped me to find the right extensions. I felt very comfortable (their bed is so comfy, love the aroma of the essential oil). I even fell asleep during the process. The stylist helped me to achieve a very natural look. The lashes were surprisingly light. I didn't have any makeup on that day, and I instantly looked like I did. Simple, natural and effortless. We sat down for post-consultation afterwards, she explained the steps to take care of my new lashes. I've been using their solution to clean my new lashes every other day. The bottle came with a cute brush attached. It's very easy to use. It has been almost two weeks now and I'm in love with my new look. I can now skip the step of eyeliner. If I could leave zero I would. I am so upset. I just visited a diff lashbar and was wondering why my lashes were how they were. She explained and showed me/I also took a picture for proof. They have damaged my lashes So bad at this downtown lash bar just a few weeks ago I was there. A first time doing lashes ever and at this location by a MASTER. I paid over $350. And now I can't even have what I want for a few weeks due to damaged lashes and needing to wait for re-growth. As a business owner I am highly disappointed. The owner of this location needs to sit with each lash tech. "Newbie" or "master" and see what they are doing. Clumped lashes together on one lash for a hybrid is not correct, especially when I brush them and clean them with all the lashbar tools. Over the last 2&1/2 weeks I didn't lose one lash I knew something was wrong as you loose 2-4 real lashes per month. I am very informed on how lash application works as an esthetician who went to cosmetology school. This corporation needs to really get it together or you won't ever have new clients. I'm just thankful I found a new location that took the time to give me what is 'HEAlTHY' for my lashes. I spend money on myself when it comes to beauty. I never even have had to write a bad review, but I couldn't let this go. It's damaging to my Self Esteem that my lashes are so damaged. Just want to give my feedback. I know I base everything off of reviews. If the product isn't working or is no good it will never matter how much you market. Please take the time to train and help these girls at this location. They deserve to learn how to do them right even if it takes longer. Also I got a wax there and I am missing half an eyebrow, and I have thick brows. Now I have to pencil. Not a fun experience. I will now send my business to a diff lash bar that takes the time with their clients & honesty is number one for them. Not clashing lashes together so fast to make more money. I had been thinking about getting a Keratin lash lift for some time, but had been hesitating due to a poor experience with a lash perm a couple of years ago, so when LashBar opened up in my building, I stopped in for a consultation. I spoke with Lina last week, and she was kind enough to go over the entire procedure with me, answer all my questions, and address my concerns. I felt very comfortable and decided to schedule the appointment. I went in today for the lift, and I have ZERO regrets!! The entire procedure was about an hour, and included a light facial massage with lavender oil to start, and a hand massage while the product needed to time to set--the results are fantastic! My lashes are naturally, but dramatically lifted, which really opens up my eyes, giving me the look of extensions. I couldn't be happier! I had my first visit a few weeks ago and my lash fairy was Christine, the owner! When I first arrived, I was greeted by Christine and her staff with a glass of lychee champagne (so GOOD)! At the beginning of the appointment, Christine took the time to get to know me, my preferences and past experiences with lash extensions. She discussed their process and her recommendation based on my lash (or lack thereof) situation! After we decided on a game plan, it was time to get pampered. I came in after a 12-hr night shift so it was nice to just lay down, relax and listen to an amazing playlist in the background! I'm also typically not a sleeper at lash appointments but I think I ended up dozing off a couple of times, haha. The appointment took a little over 2 hours and it was well worth it! My lashes were so full that I couldn't stop looking at them in the mirror. I went with a classic lash and Christine used a d curl, since my lashes are stick straight. The overall look was very dramatic, considering I only went with a classic set! After wetting my lashes for the first time, I did notice some very, VERY *minor* burning in my eyes but since then, I haven't experienced any discomfort. I actually stopped going to my other lash gal because my eyes would burn each and every time I took a shower! But not with this set of lashes! So far, it's been almost two weeks & I haven't noticed much shedding. Unlike past experiences, the lashes would shed quickly and the sparseness was very noticeable! Also, these lashes seem to stay in place and stay curled in the right direction. No crazy twisting or turning of lashes, thank goodness!
