Really love having this boba place in the area. It's easily accessible, street parking and nearby garage parking. The boba is always soft and delicious and made fresh! I like being able to customize the amount of ice and sweetness. The regular milk tea is delicious. Assam black tea is very rich and aromatic. The cheese foam drinks are also very tasty! It's really hard to find good quality boba in LA city proper. They're either pretty average, or over priced "trendy boba", neither of which really do taiwanese boba real justice. Enter Latea Bubble Tea Lounge! My sister and I stumbled upon this place last weekend during their soft opening. We were greeted by a nice employee behind the register who offered us samples of their two types of boba - honey boba and roasted brown sugar boba. He told us the owner has been cooking up his homemade boba using his grandma's recipe from Taiwan (where boba originated in the 1980s). We were instantly hooked on the soft chewy taste of the brown sugar boba and tried both their milk assam teas and milk oolong teas. Both drinks were amazing! Latea is a hidden gem of a boba place that uses fresh tea leaves to make their fragrant teas. The one drink that stood out to me is their High Mountain Oolong tea. This is an incredibly difficult tea to coax out the flavors particularly because it's a fresh oolong meaning it wasn't roasted. When oolong tea isn't roasted, it preserves the more subtle floral and green notes of the tea which usually fades to the background when you add milk. Despite these challenges, Latea has managed to create a High Mountain Oolong tea that is decadent yet still showcases the beautifully floral and green notes of an unroasted oolong from Taiwan. No other boba tea place on the west side so far has been able to do this. They also make their boba pearls to al dente perfection. Highly recommend to try out Latea for their high quality boba milk teas. read more

I'm so impressed by this place! I know it's their soft opening so they're on their best behavior, but I got top notch customer service here! The woman at the counter was friendly and helpful - she let me try the different kinds of boba before making a decision. They have both brown sugar and honey boba, both of which are very tasty but I really loved the honey flavor! She enrolled me in their points system and let me know that if I bring my cup back, I get 10 cents off of my next drink! (They do have really sturdy cups as another person mentioned) I loved that they had little snacks like madelines and tarts and shortbreads, and I'm really interested to come back to try their cheese foam! Without doubt, Latea serves the best boba I've ever had. Normally, when you come into Latea one of the great staff members will even let you sample the freshly prepared boba. Prepared in house, after the one of the owner's, Jack's, grandmother's recipe you can taste that this is a special boba experience. It isn't the big black balls that Jokoy's uncle has made famous (yes I went there, lol) but rather a delicate, perfectly cooked and sweetened light and natural tapoica pearls. I would say, the term pearl tea is more appropriate here, this is special boba. I've indulged in a few of their teas and I always choose cheese foam, I can't choose a favorite but I love the matcha, the green tea and the oolong tea. I'm a tea lover and this is boba for tea lovers. They use real loose leaf tea and you can taste it in their drinks. The quality of the tea is exceptional. Catering - I recently got to work with Latea on a catering order for a Lunar New Year event at work. I received so many compliments on the boba but I couldn't take all the credit. What an amazing bubble tea location. I recently came here because my classmates rave about this place. I gave it a try and I was not disappointed. The cashier that attended has so much patience! He made sure to explain to me everything and even offered to sample their boba which was AMAZING. If you are looking for boba on the westside, this is the best place I have tried. I have tried the boba places on sawtelle and they do not compare. The made in house boba is the perfect amount of softness and chewiness. My family all got the brown sugar milk tea with brown sugar boba as we wanted to try a more classic drink for our first time. We got 75% sweetness, so a little bit less than regular. I believe it may have been to sweet if we got 100% sweetness, but that is a personal preference. The street parking may not be ideal once the area opens up again, but there's a few nearby parking lots. read more

so i grew up in an area with lots and lots of boba places, meaning that boba shops were de facto hangout/study/date/any type of socializing spots, meaning that i've downed enough sugary tea/milk combos and chewed enough sugar balls in my lifetime to know what quality boba and milk tea should taste like. this is all to say that latea drinks AND boba are the real deal. double whammy. first time here last saturday, the bf chose a jasmine green tea and i, the more gluttonous one, ordered the brown sugar milk tea with roasted brown sugar boba. both = perfection in their own rights. the green tea was pure and simple with a clear depth, while the brown sugar milk tea was not overtly sweet (50% sweetness), with the boba holding its own chewiness and taste. the heat wave drove us to come again two days later (driving more than 10 miles round trip just for boba? that's when i knew the bf's seal of approval had been awarded). this time, we both ordered the jasmine green milk tea, the bf with the sweeter tooth ordering 75% sweet and me sticking with my trusty 50% sweet. excellent, as we had expected. although prices are slightly higher than your typical boba chains, the quality is well worth your extra coin. they also have a great rewards program which essentially gets you about 5% discount every other time you come back. tip: park at the parking garage just around the corner on the same block. you get one hour free! read more

Kind of surprised that this tea spot is so highly rated. Got a milk tea and a jasmine iced tea. The Assam milk tea was ordered at 50% sweet. Not sure why it still tasted like 100% sweet. I asked for a new drink, they gave me a cup with just tea. So I had to dump out partial of my drink to add and remix my existing drink which brought it to 60% sweet compared to other tea places. Service was ok. There's a very limited menu at this tea shop, but I guess there isn't much competition around so they can just focus on the tea and maybe the local demographic like extra sweet. This did not fancy my taste buds or impress me in any way. This is definitely the best boba shop in West LA. I am so thankful this place has been open during most of the pandemic. I come here almost once a week. My favorite drink here is the Assam milk tea with boba. I've tried both the brown sugar and logan honey boba; both types go very well with this drink. Really cute location and seating area with a good variety of drinks (and friendly staff) but I was disappointed with the actual boba drinks. We got the popular brown sugar milk tea with roasted brown sugar boba balls and the taro drink, and they weren't as sweet or as flavorful as other boba places I've tried. My new favorite boba spot in LA! I usually get the brown sugar milk tea, less sweet and with brown sugar boba and its been perfect every time! Initially I was surprised at how soft their boba is and then I was surprised again when I noticed that their boba is soft every time I get a drink from them. They're definitely very consistent with the quality of their drinks. I've also gotten their matcha latte, less sweet and with brown sugar boba and thats also a great drink for the matcha fix. (Getting less sweet gives more matcha flavor.) The drinks are on the pricier side (I payed about $14 for 2 drinks) but I think its definitely worth for the taste and quality of the boba. read more

Two of those three times I've received a very caffeinated milk *tea* instead. Unfortunately, both times I was already far enough away that it wasn't worth walking back to get the drink remade. Given that I cannot have caffeine, I had to give the drinks away after taking one sip and realising their error. What's especially egregious is that I placed my orders through their self-service kiosk, so it wasn't simply someone mishearing what I wanted.
