Far from my favorite boba/milk tea shop. Stopped by my first time and liked the menu options and ease of ordering. I ordered a Thai tea with boba and matcha milk tea with boba. Both drinks were so watered down and hardly had flavors of Thai tea or matcha. I asked for light ice and half the cups were full of ice. And the boba was very stiff and just bland, it didn't have that soft chewiness or tapioca flavor like boba usually does. read more

Black sugar Boba is this really cool Boba place located on Wilshire. The people inside were so nice. The service was really good and the smoothies came out pretty fast. So I got the Oreo smoothie with whole milk black Boba and I got whipped cream on mine and it was delicious. Highly highly highly enjoyed it. It had a great texture consistency to it. You can really taste the Oreo. It was nice and smooth. The Boba was delicious. I might've asked for a bit less , but what I really wanna brag about is the whipped cream. The whip cream had like this saltines to it that really helped balance out the sweetness of the smoothie it's the first time I've ever tried whipped cream like that and I would definitely recommend if you get a sweet drink to try the whipped cream because it was absolutely delicious. It was quiet & empty when I went in the afternoon. There's a kiosk to order at and then someone makes the order. We ordered the matcha milk tea & strawberry matcha milk tea. The drinks were milder in the matcha taste and milkier. Boba was soft and chewy & they have mini boba. The mini boba are smaller than the ones I've had at other places. I've been coming to the spot for probably close to a year now and I at this point pretty much get the same thing The black sugar blended tea. I don't have a single thing to complain about for this drink it's just so good probably could drink two.. The places relatively small, and nestled on a busy street with unfortunately poor parking. But I've been fortunate enough to usually find street parking. Keep in mind that like many tea places they are open later in the day and open later in the evening, great for those early night cravings. They're ordering system is pretty easy and they're very quick about making drinks so service is pretty good I would say. The inside has a few spots to sit, but don't expect to have any large groups at this location. Seems like a great spot to sit down for an hour or two and get some work done while you enjoy one of their great drinks. And to add by the way.. they're consistency with the drinks is pretty impressive, the same every time and great every time. The blended drink I mentioned above has a great texture, great black sugar flavor, and the right amount of richness. Can't wait to come back! read more

Ordered the Jasmine milk tea with boba. This was the one drink I was able to order unsweetened (need to ask since the kiosk doesn't have that adjustment option listed). The tea flavor was nice, wish it could have been a tad stronger but overall the tea was very smooth. The boba on the other hand, had a nice chew but was a bit bland. The boba didn't have much sweetness or flavor to it. I would rate about a 3.5 stars but rounded up to 4! The ambiance is here really cute! My drink was ready quickly and service was good. There is the tiniest parking lot behind the building, otherwise parking is a bit limited (metered street). I got the tiger milk tea (with less sweetness) which is 50% black tea and 50% Thai tea and I really enjoyed the flavor, but the boba was subpar at best, maybe even worse. The boba was way overcooked to the point of teetering on mushiness. I appreciated that the boba was included in the price and not an extra $0.50-$1.00 like at other places, but the low quality of the boba overrides this. There are a couple parking spots down the side street/alley just on the east side of the store. Otherwise it's metered street parking. read more

Black Sugar Boba has a pretty decent and varied menu with a variety of typical milk tea as well as some matcha mixes. We went Sat afternoon - cool space, some board and jenga games and empty. Can order at the kiosk. Got the signature black sugar boba milk tea - a bit mild in flavor, easy to drink but not much to it like a bobatime vs at least a sunright. If they step up their drinks and have some more table seating, could attempt to have a space similar to bonsai. Street parking (metered) available. read more

Cute bubble tea shop with a clean, sleek indoor seating area. Pretty standard boba drink menu, but only a few boba and jelly options. Plenty of non-caffeinated options and alternative milks too! The two staff members provided friendly, thoughtful customer service to me and my dog, while I waited for my espresso shot milk tea -- which was a new menu item from their coffee bar, and they wanted to get it right! The employees were also very gracious with a separate rude customer while I was waiting, and took special care to help that customer and also thank me for my patience. It is a cashless business, so you order and pay on the tablet screen. I recommend parking off of Brockton, and walking up half a block. read more

This place has only been open for a few months. The inside is so clean, pretty & aesthetic. All of their teas are made with natural ingredients, no powders, & real fruit. You order on the large iPad screens and it's super quick and easy. The woman working was very nice & helpful. The boba was delicious and perfect and so was the tea! This is a very cute milk tea spot. We went in and asked if we could go half strawberry and half lychee. The sweet employee said sure and warned that it couldn't be done less sweet. Ok no problem. As she made the drinks a male employee came and stood behind her scrutinizing her every move and questioning her as she went. He then began quizzing her loud enough for us to hear about how to make the drinks. When he learned she let us customize our drinks he was visibly upset and repeatedly told her this is not allowed. He told us too after announcing she is new. The tea was fine but the way he treated his employee made us so uncomfortable. It truly was awful. Nice to see this is open now, but I do think there is some room for improvement. Surprised to that there are no dairy-free or even non-dairy creamer options for the drinks, I feel like this is a must. The drink I got (original black sugar milk tea) was pretty watery and not very creamy even though it was real milk. The tea was also quite weak, could barely taste it. The boba was the same way, not sweet enough, kind of watery, though they were a decent texture at least. I ordered the drink with light sweetness so perhaps this is why the drink was the way it was, might go back to try something else. I am so happy to have a boba place open up in this neighborhood! The interior was beautiful with minimalist/modern decor. This place is great! As soon as I walked in, they greeted me and were so friendly. I usually don't drink boba, so it was nice to see other options without boba that were to my liking. My friend got the Thai Tea with boba and I got the cinnamon toast milk drink. I tried both and I like how it was not overly sweet, since you can choose to lighten the sweetness of the drinks. They were helpful in giving me recommendations about the drinks and they mentioned it's all natural ingredients which is a plus for me. I also got the mochi waffle which definitely satisfied my sweet tooth.
