This place is so overrated I don't get it. Every time I'm dragged here by colleagues I think maybe I didn't get the right thing on the menu, but it never matters. Most recently the pot pie I got needed about a tablespoon of salt to be edible and I never need to salt my food. They give you a few bites to eat when you order an appetizer and it's all overpriced. I went to this location with friends that have been there before and spoke highly of the food. We were a party of 6 and were seated immediately. From that point, the pacing of our visit was terrible. Our drinks took about 10 minutes, we finished our appetizers and then sat for 15 minutes before our server even asked if we wanted dinner. Mind you, it was not busy and they paid plenty of attention to their other tables. When the food came out, mine and my husband's food was dropped off, and 20 minutes later everyone else got their food. We would have tried to talk to our server to explain the situation but they were MIA. We enjoyed the food, but the service was some of the worst service we've ever received. We frequently dine in this area and noticed this location is always very busy (a good sign?). We looked at their menu (online) and decided we definitely wanted to try the coconut shrimp. Maybe the fish and chips. Large, open, friendly and inviting interior! Open beam ceilings, with a warm decor. They also have outdoor seating. Big fireplace inside, fire pit outside. We were greeted and seated quickly! When we told them, it was our first visit, they gave us a free complimentary appetizer! Garlic potato chips, which were outstanding! Their prices are a little on the higher side...however, they shared that they are a "made from scratch" concept restaurant. The quality & quantity of the food, as well as the service, made us feel it is justified in the pricing. We were somewhat disappointed that the coconut shrimp which we were looking for, was just an appetizer. However, there were six large shrimp with a great coconut shrimp sauce. It was served on coleslaw/a good size portion. However, it was an apple cider coleslaw, which some may enjoy, but not our favorite... but very high-quality. The onion rings are not listed as a side item, we ordered them separately for $5.50. Waiter never checked on us and didn't get refills on drinks until we were just about done with our food. He tried to get us to pay on a handheld device by card. We told him we wanted to pay cash and he said "okay" and walked off. 15 minutes later we flagged him down to remind him we wanted to pay cash. He said, "yeah just leave it on the table or something" and just walked off again. I think he was trying to not make change. If I would have had exact change, he wouldn't have gotten a tip due to the service he provided. Unfortunately, we only had 20s so he ended up getting a like 6/7 dollar tip still. I made a reservation for nine people in advance and requested to increase it at the last minute. They were so accommodating and they had no idea why our group was gathering. The service was top-notch. The food was excellent and our server and sadly I didn't get her name, was so kind and wonderful. You see one of my dear coworkers lost her husband a few days ago, very unexpectedly and some of us that work with her wanted to meet up and show her some love and support. We ended up having 11 people. When I asked to pay the bill for my friend and her son's and daughter in-law, in a quiet request, so no one could hear, I mentioned to the server that my friend and her family had just lost their father and husband days ago. She took my card with no issue to charge me for all five dishes, and when she came back the bill looked as if it was incorrect. It didn't look like I was being charged enough for the five dishes. As she handed me the machine with my digital receipt, she said the manager, Connor wanted to help out in a small way, and he took a percentage off of the bill. It's these small acts of kindness that help people who are going through such losses. This is why I come back to Lazy Dog, not for any discounts, but because their employees care. And just on another note, my friend has been finding signs from her husband everywhere and so have her sons. A small feather, cardinals that are all of a sudden, appearing, etc. Well tonight was no different. Connor the manager who made that generous decision, bares the same name as one of the sons who was there, in honor of his father. The parking lot was very full and I was fortunate to find one of the few spots still available. As expected, there were folks waiting to be seated. Fortunately, there were still seats available at the bar. In addition to a small glass of the Revolver Blood & Orange beer, I ordered the BBQ St. Louis Style Pork Ribs. Rather than order the 10-rib standard portion, I got the 5-rib smaller portion. After I finished my dinner, my bartender mentioned when folks order the standard portion, they pack half home to have room for dessert. When I was given a small plate for the bones, I was pleasantly surprised to be provided a wet napkin as well. Sadly, many restaurants just provide a roll of paper towels which is a cheap but poor substitute. While I liked the business decision to provide a wet napkin for messy finger foods, I did not like their choice of an aluminum bowl. Every time I used a fork to eat the slaw, the plate would turn. As the plate did not turn when I ate the fries and ribs with my hands, was I supposed to have eaten the slaw with my hands as well? As for the food, I liked the ribs and the amount of bbq sauce did not seem too much. The previously mentioned wet wipe was very much appreciated to easily remove the sticky residue. Sadly, these were not the type to easily fall of the bones. I also enjoyed the umami fries. The last time I similarly enjoyed the taste of fries was when I had truffle fries. When I was able to pick it with my fork, I did like the slaw. I wished I had picked a different dessert. On paper, the Triple Chocolate Mousse sounded perfect. Who would not enjoy chocolate mousse, chocolate sauce and chocolate chips all in one dessert? There was as much, if not more, of the whipped cream as there was of the mousse. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very quaint, warm and inviting it's very neat in appearance and very clean. It's akso very quiet and easy to communicate. Our server was Mr. Aidan, who was nice and very polite. I ordered the camp fire pot roast, for $22.95 with baby spinach, creamy mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables and was very tasty. My brother ordered the build your own lunch combo, for $10.95, which he had the tomato soup, small side salad and chicken sandwich, which was very tasty according to my brother. The only complaint I have is the cardboard cover stuck to the frozen turkey and ripped off when removing the cover, leaving cardboard frozen to the turkey. I've always liked Lazy Dog but I took my Grandmother here for the first time and now I'm a huge fan! They were super busy so it took a while for a waiter to even come greet us or ask us for drinks but when he did he was so sincere and apologized at least 10 times. The Euless Lazy Dog is my go to when taking my dog for a drink and a meal because it has a covered outdoor area with a fire pit. The staff is always friendly and attentive. I'm enjoying how the restaurant is expanding its palate. This visit I had the Korean Ribeye Bi Bim Bap. The meat definitely could have been marinated for a bit longer and cooked on a higher heat for a shorter amount of time. It was a bit rubbery like it was microwaved or boiled instead of grilled. The dog bowl for my German Shepherd was awesome. It has ground beef, white rice, and a sprinkle of peas and carrots. The beer selection is great and their house brews do not disappoint. read more
