My recent visit to LeBain Nightclub was unfortunately marred by a series of disappointments, leaving me with an overall negative impression. While the music was decent, it fell short of redeeming the multitude of shortcomings encountered throughout the night. To begin, the nightclub was uncomfortably overcrowded and excessively hot. The venue seemed to be operating beyond its intended capacity, leading to an unpleasant and claustrophobic atmosphere. Additionally, the inclusion of a pool within the nightclub felt out of place and only added to the already cramped conditions. However, the most profound disappointment came from the encounter at the nightclub's entrance. The security staff exhibited unnecessary hostility and mean-spirited behavior, which left a sour taste right from the start. The hostess, in particular, was an absolute letdown. Her demeanor was rude, condescending, and abrasive. I was met with a condescending and insulting remark about my failure to RSVP, delivered in a manner that was wholly inappropriate. When I attempted to address her lack of customer service skills, her dismissive response was, "this is a nightclub." Regardless of the establishment type, such disdainful treatment towards customers should never be acceptable. It is worth mentioning that the music played during the night was good, but sadly, it was not enough to redeem the overall experience. The positive aspect of the music was overshadowed by the multitude of negative encounters, particularly with the hostess. The hostess's robotic and emotionless approach, coupled with impatience, disdain, arrogance, and aloofness, only further added to the disappointment. Her lack of professionalism overshadowed any potential enjoyment that the nightclub had to offer. Based solely on my experience with the hostess, I would give LeBain Nightclub a zero-star rating if possible. I have no intention of subjecting myself to such mistreatment by returning to a place where contemptuous behavior towards customers is allowed. It is unfortunate that even the positive aspect of the club--the music--could not redeem the overall experience. The negative encounter with the hostess, combined with the overcrowded and uncomfortable conditions, eclipsed any positive aspects of the night. DEAR Mr. Andre Balazs, I would like to start of by saying, I respect you for your Chateau Marmont acquisition in 1990 as it was a great investment. However, I regret to inform you of our bad experience for your establishment "Le Bain". I have been to Le Bain on several occasions and never had any issues with entry. Last night, my wife and I got to the door at approximately 1 AM. Our friends were already inside awaiting our arrival as it was my wife's birthday. Please note there were only about 5-6 patrons ahead of us in line. We were greeted by an Asian lad who had the nastiest attitude I have encountered in the hospitality field ever!!! This individual seriously looked, dressed & smelled like one of the many Occupy Wall Street pond scum I used to step over while walking thru Zuccati Park on way to work on 14 Wall! My wife & I were dressed "IMMACULATE TO THE" we are the ideal clientele any upscale and/ or 5 star establishment would love to have in their establishment. FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!!! MY WIFE AND I WERE REFUSED ADMISSION! This unprofessional doorman asked us if we were guests of the DJs. If not, we had to be part of a guest list. there is no Guest list !! I saw men ahead of us getting inside your establishment with a loose shirt hanging out his pants. Since we were neatly dressed with classy shoes, we get refused entry and told to get off his line. If you are still planning to visit this place, my advice is use your dirtiest attire and old shoes, and you won't have no issues getting in. Don't dress to impress, apparently doorman doesn't like classy dressed people. In conclusion, this "doorman" should be the last person in charge of the door. We saw him let other people waiting on line without any questions and they were not in VIP. This man discriminates people; ruining the club and hotel's reputation. This was our third stop on a Saturday night so there was a line to get into the place but it moved quickly because most of the people in the line were being turned away. First, a man came down the line saying the event tonight was by "invitation only", which is code for "based on our determination of whether you are good-looking enough to let in, we will invite you in", but I think he was trying to soften the blow for people in advance. We saw groups of guys getting turned away and the group of girls in front of us were also turned away. They actually tried to negotiate with the door guys and it was really sad to see. They were clearly from out of town and I guess they really got to experience New York meatpacking hospitality that night. When our turn came, I knew they would let us in after the packs they had rejected in front of us. We looked the part and they let us in quickly. We took the elevator up with others who had been "accepted" and I found myself in another meatpacking nightclub. This one was different in that there was floor to ceiling windows with a view and . . . a jacuzzi with a lot of people in it (it is 4 feet deep by the way and I saw towels were supplied by the side). A lot of people were dancing in it but it seemed really unsanitary. They don't supply the dancers here at this club. The people in the jacuzzi are the show for all the people that were gawking and taking pictures. The thing with the jacuzzi was that the steam was kinda fogging up the whole dance floor area too which is right next to it. It was humid in there and made the club feel like a sauna or how a bathroom feels after you've taken a hot shower. Having the jacuzzi there and it being a literally steamy club made for a pack of dancers that seemed to be engaging in a lot more dirty dancing than at other places. So, I tried to get into Le Bain today with a large group of people, on a SUNDAY at 3PM, and the bouncers basically admitted: - they know who's on the "guestlist" without asking for names, aka they'll look you up & down and use their discretion to decide whether or not you are cool enough to be upstairs. (the management actually admitted that who gets in is up to the bouncer's "discretion" ) - if you don't fit their "type" , everyone in your party needs to commit to $100 in drinks to get in - even if the space is empty upstairs (our friend who got in confirmed this), they're willing to turn away your business/money in order to maintain their air of pretension/elitism We weren't a frumpy group. We were well-dressed and willing to pay money. Who knows what criteria they use to let people in-- I guess you have to be a model, scantily dressed, or know someone inside. Anyway, I hear once you get in, it's pretty awesome, so... if you want to risk wasting your time (and getting worked up) anyway, here are my tips: 1) DO NOT LET THEM KNOW THAT YOU ARE PART OF A LARGE GROUP/PARTY. Ironically, being part of a large group won't make them give you better service (as it should, since you are bringing in money and new customers); rather they'll insist that you get bottles or commit to drink minimums. 2) If you're part of a large group (i.e. a birthday party, or a going-away party, as was the case for me today), tell everyone in the group to come in small groups of 2-3, and not mention that they are meeting a party inside. There's a better chance of getting in.... BUT no guarantee of everyone (or even most people) getting in.... so honestly, I don't think it's worth it to even try. 3) Look as hot as you can and suck up / kiss @ss / lose your dignity to the pricks at the door. read more

I and my daughter and son-in-law like to have a nice day on the 4th of July 2018, and it was a nightmare at Le Bain, we arrived at 6:00 in that hour to 7 pm we ordered a lest 200$ worth of special drinks, conversed and enjoyed the moment, the fire works began and we order more and my daughter and husband decide to go into the hot tub, their drinks were half done, in the mist I keep seeing a waitress cleaning up, so.. she came to my table started to clean up, I told her we were not finished, meanwhile she proceeded to take my daughter and husbands drinks away,..how do you not listen, understand we are not finished.. so my daughter came out of the water,said what is going on, the waitress said something and it got my daughter upset to proceed to get the manager, so a very young guy comes over and my daughter explains and her husband, next thing he is calling us liars, how do you proceed to even consider this type of energy and displaced management on a such day, no matter their reason for unprofessionalism you do not say to the bouncer get rid of them as if he was a mobster, as if he had so much power, this is not what you do in handling any client services and we never were violent but indifferent to the way it was handled and spoke up about it, and because they should of said sorry we like to offer you some type of consideration and love to keep you comng back you didnot and you did this to highly professional people in NYC, which is a wrong move.. we are in pursuit ramification!! very low type personal for such a beautiful place, I entertain high profile politicians and this was a wrong move, I wouldn't advise going to this place under any circumstances. brg ps i did not want a star but had to , to post read more

This has to be the worst freakin club on the universe! Terrible!!! Terrible!!! Stay far away from this dump of a place! Door man with his other fag homies were rude and ungrateful lil bastards! Good thing there was an NYPD car that pulled up sounding his siren or there is no telling what would have gone down! Heads would have been rolling that's for sure! Fucking ass clowns! Yes, there is a line. Yes, there is a dress code (but it seems pretty liberal, so unless you look really bad, you will be fine). The first time I came here I somehow managed to not even go up to the rooftop and instead was in the tiny club-like area right outside the elevator. Big mistake, lemme tell ya, cause all the good stuff is on the roof, including a crepe stand. The roof is sprawling and the views are beautiful. Drinks are expensive (something like $15 for a vodka soda), but the drink glasses are actually big and the bartenders pour enough alcohol into the drinks to justify the prices. It's hard to find a seat here, but there's lots of space to stand and some people were sitting on the grass. Lots of Europeans and out-of-towners. Also lots of people smoking, which I didn't enjoy, but you can't win it all I guess. The club area is just... unappealing. In theory, a hot tub in the middle of the dance floor seems cool. In practice... No. Just no. I don't consider myself a germaphobe, but a public tub with HOT water that's just perfect for bacteria and amoeba and other creepy, crawly microscopic things to grow in? AVOID and thank me later when you successfully come home without a fungal infection. Also, the water from the hot tub kind of gets all over the floor, so watch your step. I saw one girl confidently strut in wearing huge heels and promptly face-plant. I heard this place is also beautiful during the day, so I'm looking forward to checking that out. We visited Le Bain at the Standard at night with a friend who is local... and we (the visiting party) weren't aware that the place was a hotel... First Impression: INTRIGUE... Two tall gals walked out of the club in nothing but bathing suit bottoms. (We all watched with jaws dropped, from the line outside) Just what the hell was our friend getting us in to? We waited in line for no more than 20 minutes, seeing 'suits' and 'men of means' being turned away and worrying that 'OH NO, WE MAY NOT GET IN'. On the contrary. Being 2 girls with 1 guy gave us an advantage. The 'suits' had to take their money elsewhere. Once inside, you're jammed in to an elevator with other starry-eyed folks hoping to get their dance on. The ride is quick, the small talk is awkward. Next, you're thrown onto the first level of the top floors only to find yourself in what looks to be an average niteclub... but that's not so. Just beyond the bar and a little to the right is the hot tub and the amazing person standing watch, overseeing that no one drowns in this 4 feet of hot water, and gets a fresh towel when they're done. Not interested in dancing or a dip? The graffitied stairs will lead you to the roof top where you are greeted by faux-grass, comfy seating and one of the best views of New York City. Mostly just a place to lounge. the rooftop was by far the best part of my experience. It was tranquillity in the midst of all the city Hoopla. It was the perfect way to end my trip. Treat yourself. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE... Degrading, Disrespectful, Disappointing. It was my first time going to Le Bain and I probably would've enjoyed it, however after I made it through the short line on a Wednesday night, the Euro TRASH door guy that stamps your wrist absolutely ruined my experience. My boyfriend and I were looking to have fun after a celebratory dinner and we had some left overs with us. After some small talk at the door, the "Stamp" guy started to disrespect my boyfriend and I by yelling at us saying "You can't eat on the dance floor" and "Le Bain was a club not a restaurant". DUH!! As we were checking in our stuff my bf and I couldn't take the unacceptable behavior and decided to leave. As we walked out he continued yelling that we should be so lucky to be going to his F*#%ing club and that we should go to Tao. Really?!... wow. No disrespect to Tao. I always have a great time there and I will continue to take my business everywhere else in Meat Packing other than Le Bain. Let me just point out a couple of things. -It was a Wednesday night. Max, 10 people in line. I didn't know the level of douchebagary was set to 11 on a Wednesday night. AND! -Bouncers, door men and coat check girls were confused at what this guy was doing and were apologizing for his behavior to us as we walked out. Went to Le Bain for the first time. Came on the last Saturday of 2013. Arrived at 11:45pm. Line: Line was about 10 minutes, though I've heard there are times when wait-times are over an hour. Getting in: They are pretty concerned about girl/guy ratio here. If you're a party with more guys then girls, or your a group of guys, consider fusing with another group on the line. No cover. Crowd: Primarily 20-30s European, Eastern Asian, and Caucasian-American. Half were tourists, as expected because New Years was near. Atmosphere: They were playing house music, which I'm not a fan of. I came during the wintertime, so there was no pool/jacuzzi. There are two levels. Bottom level has the bar and dance floor. Upper level has, what I call, a "smoke room" which leads to the rooftop. So if you want to actually be able to have a conversation, you could freeze standing outside or tolerate cigarette smoke in the smoke room. It is very dark and foggy here, so faces are immediately indistinguishable if they're more than 10 feet away from you. Overall: Definitely a very chill spot. I had a good time. Definitely a great place to check out! Tip: There is a free coat check here, and they stamp your hand to get back in. Therefore it's pretty common for people to leave their coats here and head to other clubs and come back at the end of the night for their coat. Just remember to tip! read more

DEFINITELY SOME OF THE BEST VIEWS of the city! It has a crepe shop on the rooftop which is pretty freaking cool! The floor below the rooftop has a hot tub which can be very entertaining! It is not uncommon to see people undress down to their undergarments, and sometimes even less, and enjoy the tub! They used to have a vending machine for bikinis and bathing suits near the hot tub but that has gone now. Can be entertaining, and at times, rumbunctious and loud on popular nights, given the mix of a hot tub, music/ DJ, bar, all within a few feet of each other. I usually hang out on the rooftop because I prefer to enjoy the weather and views! I have been here at least 6 or more times, and find the crowd and vibe of this place to be HIGHLY variable. There are days it is packed and packed with interesting people but often enough it is just meh! I should add that the staff here often pretends to have fake parties to limit access. On one occasion I went to the rooftop 5-10 minutes after they told a group of us that there was a private party and the place was dead :-) I think the bouncers and security here are very very rude and annoying! I have never really had an issue myself with except on one occasion, but I have definitely seen them be quite rude to others!! All in all, a must stop for rooftop hopping for the GREAT VIEWS!! read more

So, this place has fantastic views - downstairs, you can see the famous bathtub, and upstairs, it's all open and wide. The rooftop is an amazing spot to watch the sunset. They have a bunch of drinks and crepes to choose from. The crowd usually falls in the 30-50 age range (for the sunset). And the music is a mix of deep house, jazz, and blues - pretty chill vibes. We got there by 7 pm, and l can tell you, the vibes change a lot depending on when you go. When we were there for the sunset, it was pretty mellow, super calm and relaxed. So, we'd actually booked a table, but when we got there, turns out we could've just waltzed in - no need for reservations. Plus, getting in didn't cost a dime. I've hit up Le Bain a few times before, mostly when I was in the mood for a night club. I noticed that most of the folks there were gay; I saw much more guys than girls, mostly early 20s/30s crew, and I vibed more with the lower floor than the rooftop after dark. Some guys even jumped into the bathtub - towels were right there, part of the whole deal. But I have to say, the spot is awesome, whether you're looking for a late-night bash (they keep it going till 4 am) or aiming to catch an enchanting sunset. read more

Apparently this club think it the 1920's and have a "WHITE's ONLY " door policy. Went there recently on a Friday night for the first time and whilst waiting on line began to chat it up with a caucasian couple who also mentioned that it was there first time at this venue. Fast forward about 15mins later and watched them being let in without the guy at the door asking a single question, as soon as he saw me he immediately asked if I was on the "guest list " or knew the DJ, at first I was alittle surprised and embarrassed but said no. He then says it was an invitation only night, feeling alittle confused but suspicious I decided to go to the back of the the line again and inquire if anyone else was on a guest list or-new the DJ. There were a group of about 5 nice caucasian guys who said No and or something along the line as what guest list. Long story short watched them all eventually walk right in without a single question being asked by the doorman!!!!! This placed needs to be sued and investigated by the NYC commission for human rights . This type of PASSIVE RACISM is unacceptable in a diverse city such as NY. read more

Located atop the Standard Hotel across the Boom Boom Room, this two level spot turns into a mecca for the summer party crowd. The lower level offers a full bar with exquisite drinks, and a jacuzzi with seating around, encouraging one to take a dip. The upper level is open aired and breezy during the summer and offers sweeping views of the city. It is the prefect place to lounge out with a drink from the bar or to grab crepes of a creatively placed crepe station for those looking to find a fix to their heavy state of intoxication. The strawberry crepe in particularly was great (perhaps tasted better after the many champagnes I had downed) while my friend relished the nutelle crepe. The venue turns into a highly guarded club on weekend nights with long lines downstairs at the hotel and access to the rooftop possible only through the back elevators. Overall this is a fun summer evening drinks spot with a trendy Euro crowd much like the rest of Meatpacking venues, and has great music featuring house DJs on weekend nights but be prepared for crowds. read more

le bain used to be a local favorite, a refreshing flavor amongst the typical eye-roll mpd scene. being a native new yorker and one who used to frequent this place quite often, i thought i may as well stop by on an august evening with a couple friends. low and behold, someone gave the solange-wannnabe at the door a litttttttle too much "power" because she was clearly a bit of a headache when we got to the door. the whole 'list' story is getting old when everyone who frequents nyc nightlife or social scene knows their imaginary list is entirely made up and depends on who you get at the door. this particular woman was one who struck as particularly bitter so we just laughed at her and kept it moving via the top the standard when she tried to pull the 'private party' move on us. def won't be returning which is a shame as it used to be a pleasant experience but clearly the solange wannabe is their new gatekeeper so we can only imagine the crowd it's now attracting. we'll give soho house our biz :) read more

I don't usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to document my absolutely horrific experience with one of the staff members, MAWY -- who, to my surprise, turned out to be the manager. I initially assumed she was a server based on her behavior, but her attitude and tone were so condescending and dismissive that it was genuinely shocking to learn she was in a leadership position. From the moment we interacted, her energy was completely off-putting. There was no warmth, no professionalism--just a sharp, patronizing tone that made the entire experience uncomfortable. Instead of resolving anything or offering even basic courtesy, she came across as if she was doing me a favor by simply doing her job. Hospitality is about creating a welcoming atmosphere, and this person did the exact opposite. If this is the standard set by management, it reflects poorly on the entire establishment. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously, because no guest should be made to feel the way I did. read more

Racist, gross, and boring Went with a group of girls on a Saturday and waited in a long line to get in, as we had heard about Le Bain having a good view, and instead we were met with racism and an overall trash experience. Our group was separated at the door by the staff who allowed the white members of our group to go in while telling the rest of us to leave, that we weren't on the guest list and would not be allowed in. I saw many other groups with reservations and tickets be turned away for no other reason than that they weren't white. The club has clearly hired POC front staff to try and cover up, but their racist policies could not have been clearer. The part of our group that did make it in said that the inside was dirty, smelly, boring, and way overhyped. You can get just as good of a view from plenty of other NYC places that won't be outright racist and treat their patrons like garbage. We were a bunch of friends from one of the best universities in the country and we dressed up for a fun night out so are definitely a target market/crowd. And just like many of you guys... we just wanted to have a good night out with buddies and friends. But the security personnel downstairs were so cocky and rude. Would only let white people in and male Hispanic, Asian, African American clients are told to have an invite. How is such an establishment able to still operate in this day and age? So to you guys who are planning to take your friends and buddies to party and have a good time in the city, there are other better rooftop bars in the city you can have fun! Go to Bar SixtyFive on Rockefeller Center or 230 Fifth Rooftop Bar! So don't risk a fun evening just to get unreasonably turned away.
