What a hidden gem! As a traveler from Texas who came to shop on Madison Ave, we found this place by accident. We were going to a Greek restaurant but walked in here instead! I'm not going to lie, it felt like we were in an exclusive Russian Mob cafe. My coworkers and I came here for a rep dinner and they were a bit pretentious at the door when they had trouble finding our reservation and kept alluding to the fact that we might be in the wrong place but quickly changed their tone when they found our reservation. We did get seated right away after they found our reservation. We were forced to check out coats - they kept saying that there was no room at the table for our coats. Our waiter was actually super nice and friendly which really made up for everything. Came here for a birthday brunch, my friend wanted to get tipsy and dance. This review is for the overall experience and not precisely the food. Pro tip: brunch starts at 2PM, before and after 2PM are different worlds. Nomz: Had the famous Cajun chicken, the fries were delicious as was the salad that came with it. Last year, I purchased a gift certificate for my son and his wife to celebrate at Le Bilboquet. But they had to cancel as my son was sick. In July. We happened to be staying in Sag Harbor and they wanted to use the gift card there but it was refused and they were told it was only for the nyc location! Disappointed but we are again spending the MLK weekend in New York, so they went this evening, Saturday January 17th. At the end of a very enjoyable meal, they were told that the gift card had expired though it clearly said 2026! The restaurant manager conceded but not before an unpleasant argument which really shouldn't have happened! The first manageress brought over was incredibly rude to them and they asked to see the de facto manager who was more understanding and ended up apologizing for his colleague's behavior. Nevertheless, not only will I never purchase a gift card to that restaurant for anyone, but I would like people to read this and reflect on this behavior unbecoming this establishment! read more

Ok food but you're paying top dollar for the scene (and to be seen) Be prepared to spend a pretty penny for your meal especially if you want to have a drink with it, which you will because it just seems like you should. At 2 pm Sunday afternoon the party starts, music, sparklers dancing girls, I've been to clubs with this atmosphere, seems a bit gimmicky. Update - This review was actually for Cafe Bilboquet. Stopped in for some nourishment after an appointment and it definitely satisfied. Ordered two ham and Swiss sandwiches on croissants, which the sweet lady who took our order very kindly heated up. Also had a large mocha latte, which was just so so. Wasn't as decadent as I would have liked. Was a bit cramped and loud inside, but we snagged a corner table near the door away from the crowd, which was nice. Until 5pm, you'll get a mix of commercial, pop and french music. Everyone gets up and starts dancing - honestly what a vibe - super fun! The waiters are also the funnest people ever and they really turn the place up. If you want to skip the party, go for dinner and enjoy a more upscale, intimate experience. Aside from the actual fun of the place, the food is INCREDIBLE! As soon as you order, you get complimentary baguette and butter. The bread is perfectly warm and the crust is deliciously crunchy. The butter seems super fresh and soft. Delicious. At a steep price of $38 (yes! $38), the poulet cajun is SO worth it. This is one of the best chicken dishes I have had in my life. So juicy. Full of flavor. Perfectly seasoned. And, to make the experience even better, served with a TON of delicious french fries. This dish is an absolute MUST. The beef tartare is definitely my favorite tartare in NYC (and might even beat some of the tartares I have had in France?! But don't quote me on that). It is AMAZING. We a group of four, had an exceptional dinner at Bilboquet. We began with the Crudo du Jour--delicious tuna crudo with salmon roe on avocado, paired with a standout Lentilles en Salade with a poached egg, mustard dressing, and frisée. The flavors were unique, fresh and well-balanced. For the main course, the Les Moules Marinières et Frites (PEI steamed mussels in white wine) were spectacular. Served in a large deep red cast iron pot, the generous portion of mussels came with an exquisite broth that was rich and flavorful. The Bronzino was excellent but the highlight was the red snapper for two, impeccably fresh, served with perfect Duchesse potatoes. We also enjoyed a well-prepared cooked fennel salad (outstandingly good) and steamed spinach as sides. For dessert, we indulged in profiteroles and flambéed crêpes Suzette, which was prepared tableside. The presentation was not only elegant but also stirred nostalgic, romantic memories of dinners in France. These desserts were a fantastic finale to an incredible French dining experience. We first entered the restaurant but got sent back out to speak to the hostess, where she was no where to be found at first. The restaurant is PACKED, even with covid times now. We were seated at a table between a family and a couple. It was so tight that you have to pull out the table for one person to sit on the couch... I had the mussels which was a huge portion in a pot, but wasn't as flavorful. I later asked someone to pack it To Go and he said no I could not because you can't eat it after 2 hours. But that is none of their business! I have never heard of anyone rejecting that. My friend got frustrated and spoke to the manager who later took care of us.
