Celebrated my birthday here the other day and love it! My husband and I had the mussels, beef bourguingon, seafood pot pie, and finished with the hot fudge profiterole. We ate absolutely everything and cleaned every plate! The restaurant decor and place settings are beautiful, service was great, and to top it off, they sent me home with an adorable teaspoon set as a birthday gift! Beautiful ambience, good service, meal...not so great. The lavender glazed chicken was great, the Bibb lettuce salad was beautifully presented; however, the Bouillabaisse was awful. The "sea bass" was so tough and hard I had to cut it with my knife....3 mussels, 3 shrimp and that was it...sauce was so bland I asked for salt and pepper...and speaking of salt, the butter was overloaded with it. This place is terrific! The food was excellent and the service was superb. We got the Waldorf salad, the lavender chicken, and the truffle flat bread, and all of them were absolutely delicious. Wow! Could it be any louder. If you want to talk to others in ur party- this is not the place for you! My drink was excellent! Onion soup was the best! I ordered a filet med- rare. I would call ur 'raw'! Tasted ok and they said that was med rare. I didn't want it over cooked so I choose rare over 'too-cooked'! Thé tarte flambe is a dry flat bread with a fancy name. If you want to be 'French' inspire- use the terminology correctly! My husband on the other hand rec'd his salmon- cooked to death! They were happy to take it back but we prefer to eat together! There is very little French about this restaurant. Not the food nor the atmosphere. The scallops were good. The pastry of the tarte appetizer was tough, unable to be cut. Tuna "nicoise" salad was a tiny molded circle of cubed vegetables with very thin tuna on top for $21. I love variations on salade nicoise but this was totally unrelated. I've lived in France and been to several American French restaurants such as Balthazar in NYC and St. Emilion, etc. here and this is not anything resembling French bistro. read more

I spent 28 years living in France and i have never seen a French restaurant with no french bread basket on the table but at Le Margot, THERE IS NO FRENCH BREAD!!!! I ordered their $35 Bouillabaisse and was very disappointed because it didn't come with Rouille spread on the side! In France, Bouillabaisse always come with Rouille and bread !!! Back to back evenings at Le Margot...last night full dinner..wonderful cocktails and apps...pear and blue cheese flambé was exceptional as were the mussels. Scallops perfectly done and best item last evening, risotto excellent but too much of a super rich dish...coq a vin was well done, a bit dry, veg was excellent...salmon was overdone..lacking. Rose crème brûlée, chocolate profiteroles and lemon tart were all exceptional. The wine list is very nice however I prefer to know vintages and although French and California both are somewhat limited as to regions/AVAs but especially the French choices...BUT excellent limited choices at great prices. Now the lemon tart brought us back tonight...New Years Eve...we came for the lemon tart and French press...although not on limited menu tonight the team made it happen and it was amazing again!! Well done Le Margot team from bar to service to management to especially the pastry team!! This is a bimonthly reservation for us...more frequently for dessert and coffee! read more

This is an excellent restaurant. Good food. Good prices. Excellent service. I deducted one star because of the noise level that was intense when we were there at 7 PM on a weeknight. We were with someone who had been there for lunch several times and said it was not noisy then. If you want to hear your dinner companions I suggest coming earlier or later when the restaurant is not so full. To be fair, noisy restaurants are not uncommon. read more

Went for lunch with my friend and immediately loved the decor. Ordered things I don't tend to prepare myself: Lyonnaise salad and duck confit followed by profiterole with cappuccino. The salad was wonderful, perfectly seasoned, neither the dressing nor the bacon was overpowering and a lovely presentation. The duck confit was surprisingly 'Nouvelle cuisine', minimalistic, conceptual and lacking of sauce to dip a crusty baguette into, did I mention minimalistic? Surprisingly small portion despite being served with a cassoulet and it usually being a traditional more hearty wintry dish. The duck itself was well flavored although a bit salty and tad dry (sorry). The accompanying cassoulet was a great compliment with white beans and andouille sausage. Sadly, I wouldn't order this again nor recommend it. The profiterole that my friend and I shared was beautifully presented and delicious, as was the smooth cappuccino that many restaurants allow to be too bitter. This one was perfection. Finally, our waiter Payton, was wonderful. He was attentive but never intrusive, most pleasant and engaging. He loves his job and it shows, we were in good hands. We went to Le Margo for dinner tonight to celebrate my birthday. It was our first time there. The ambiance was really nice. They didn't seem particularly busy and the service was just OK considering. For instance, we got our bread after salad which came after our appetizer and then our wine came after all that. Seemed a bit out of order, but we did order out of order, but I assumed it would come in order that it normally should come. We chose the beef tartar which was nice, but the potato chips were hit or miss. Some were soggy / stale and some were crispy. The beet carpaccio salad was excellent. It was perfectly dressed with the balsamic vinaigrette I ordered the Dover Sole. I didn't notice the price thinking it would be the normal $30-$35 but upon receiving the bill I saw it was $89 :0. I looked at the menu and it said market price. Never would I pay $89 for a piece of fish. It was salty. The capers were too plentiful which made it overly salty with the amount of salt they put on the fish itself. It definitely was t an $89 piece of fish. I would try this restaurant again but I would be more careful when ordering in both knowing the price and the order in which I put on my order. read more

My husband took me to Le Margot for my birthday. Our first visit but definately not our last. The food was excellent. My husband got the Escargot, Beef Wellington and I got the Pear and Gorganzola Tarte Flambes, Short Rib Bourguignon. There wasn't one thing that we didn't love. My first cocktail I didn't care for so they brougt a different drink with apologies. Our server, Brie, was wonderful. She was cheerful, helpful with our questions, and quick to respond to any request. The manager, came by just to see how things were. There was a slight issue with my entree which I told him about. Not to complain but just a heads up to the chef. He offered to replace it. But I told him not necessary and finished the wonderful food. Would have licked my plate if not in public. The ambiance was very pleasant, Light background noise but not too quiet. Would definitely recommend this place. read more

I am very disappointed in our experience! We went for a birthday lunch. We ordered beef wellington and lobster thermidor then the rose cream brulee. Neither of the entrees were edible. The presentation of the wellington looked delightful, however, the meat smelled rancid. The lobster thermidor was covered with a green mystery sauce. The rose cream brulee was runny and didn't have a decent flavor. The waiter knew we didn't eat any of it but never offered to bring anything else. Never had a worse experience at a restaurant. The service was TERRIBLE. Took an hour and a half before we even order appetizers and then even longer before entries. The food wasn't even worth the wait. Drinks were coming out so slow and many were forgotten. Then after we ordered dessert they told us they were out of the things we wanted (maybe if they didn't take 2+ hours take our order we would have what we wanted). This was my new favorite restaurant but today, on my 4th visit, I was disappointed. The egg on my Croque Madame was hard cooked instead of sunny side up. It really ruined the sandwich but I chose not to send it back because then I would be eating alone while my companion ate her food. And our server was not very available even though she only had two tables. And when she did attend to us she was very lackluster. When I said aloud that the egg was overcooked she said "oh sorry about that" but didn't not offer to take it back. It was sort of like "oh well, too bad". I will definitely go back but not soon. They need to get it together. I would hate to see it go downhill based on such things. On my other visits everything has been outstanding. read more

My friends and I dined there last Monday night. My potato leek soup and quiche were fine. One friend who loves pate, showed me his shredded goose liver and said it was the worse pate he had ever had. My other friend order Dover Sole(market price) and enjoyed it until we got the bill. It was $89!!! His mistake was not asking the price assuming it was $49, no more than $59. When we confronted the waiter, he said he was instructed to not tell customers the price unless specifically asked, adopting a customer beware business philosophy. We told the waiter this misunderstanding could have been easily avoided if he had mentioned the price when my friend ordered the Dover Sole. We won't go back and we will tell everyone we know about their business practices. Lastly, I dined last night at the Fort Worth Club where the Dover Sole is $39. read more

I really want to like Le Margot. This was our first visit, and I've read several positive reviews. Unfortunately, our visit was, at best, just ok. Maybe it was just our server. He brought us still water when we asked for sparkling and didn't notice or correct until I brought it to his attention. He said he was bringing bread, but I had to ask again, and it only came after the entree was served. One of the chef's specials was a pan grilled mahi mahi served with a buerre blanc sauce, topped with watercress and a side salad. What I was served was pan grilled mahi mahi and buerre blanc but served on top of a pair of smashed potatoes and topped with sliced cherry tomatoes tossed with a vinaigrette. The waiter explained that the chef changed the order. I tried it and while the fish was perfectly cooked and delicious, the beurre blanc was almost too salty to eat, and the paring of tomatoes did not blend well. The whole dish was very monochromatic from the white dish, white potatoes, buerrre blanc, white fish... with the tomatoes offering just a slight bit of color. The texture was also very monotone. Soft on top of soft. I think the watercress would have been a much better option to top it both from color and texture. It really needed a bit of crunch and less salt. My wife's french onion soup was about average. Not bad, but not star quality. I was told Chef Elliot was in the kitchen the night we visited, but if so, these dishes were not the best examples of his capabilities. I'd like to try again to see if this was perhaps an off night, but I will have to convince my wife who believes that at this price point our dining experience should have been much, much better. read more
