We were still sitting at the table, still eating, and planning to order more drinks, desserts, and coffee when suddenly we were told the kitchen and coffee station were already closed. No warning. No "last call." No staff member checking in with the table beforehand. Nothing. The most disappointing part was the manager's reaction when we brought it up. Instead of apologizing, she immediately shifted the blame to the waiter and basically said she had already told him to notify us. That's not an acceptable response. If a restaurant is about to shut down service while customers are still actively dining, especially a large table spending heavily, someone should communicate that clearly and respectfully. A quick visit to the table saying, "Just letting you know the kitchen is closing soon if you'd like to order anything else," would have completely changed the situation. I have been to many of their other locations but not this one. It was my first time here. Stopped by to get coffee and a scone. The interiors are pretty here. Very Parisian. There are a few outdoor tables as well but it's on the sidewalk so I'm not a fan. Customer service was friendly. My cappuccino tasted good but the scone was very dry. Didn't order any food nor did I stay to dine here but definitely will be back to have lunch with my mom. Will update my review. read more

There is always something to look forward to for breakfast, when you find a place like this. The air was filled with both savory and sweet delights that made my stomach roar with anticipation. Today I had a Toasted Ham & Gruyére sandwich and an iced matcha Latte and I was delighted. While I'll admit the size of the sandwich was less than the American in me would have liked, every bite was a very pleasant savory experience as both the cheese and ham was aromatically wonderful, especially with the provided three-mustard blend to rouse the tastebuds. I almost licked the plate on this one, as the mix of acid and fats made the sandwich so nice to enjoy. I tried my partner's Chai Latte which a wonderful sweet and spicy treat that suddenly made me wish it was Winter. Overall, I clearly have an excuse to come back to try all manner of desserts. The food was below average. My avocado toast had the thinnest layer of avocado spread, some sliced avocados on very chewy bread. My husband had the skillet eggs with bacon and scallion, it was so so small and we paid around $20 for each menu item. Does not make any sense, you can get much better quality and tasting food, better prices, and service elsewhere. I probably won't come back here again after this most recent experience. From the very beginning, the service felt cold, uncomfortable, and unwelcoming. Our waiter constantly gave unpleasant looks and had an attitude that made us feel like we were bothering him just by being there. There was absolutely no warmth, patience, or professionalism in the way we were treated throughout the evening. The biggest issue happened later in the night. Without any warning to our table, the restaurant decided to close the kitchen and coffee machines while we were still sitting there eating and planning to order more. Nobody came to inform us politely that the kitchen was about to close, nobody gave us a last call, and nobody checked whether we wanted desserts, coffee, or additional orders. When we spoke to the manager about it, instead of apologizing or taking responsibility, her response was basically: "I told your waiter to let you know." That response alone says everything about the level of management and customer care in this place. As customers, it is not our responsibility to guess when your kitchen or coffee station is shutting down. Communication with guests is the restaurant's responsibility, especially when a large table is actively ordering and spending money. A professional manager would have come to the table personally and said something like: 1. "We're very sorry, the kitchen is about to close." 2. "Would you like to place any final orders?" 3. "We'd still be happy to prepare coffee/dessert for your table." Instead, we got attitude, excuses, and zero accountability. The entire experience felt disrespectful and incredibly unpleasant. Good restaurants understand hospitality. They understand communication. They understand that customers should never feel unwanted. Unfortunately, this place failed on every level. There are far too many good restaurants in Los Angeles to waste your time and money somewhere that treats customers this way. My spouse and I were driving along Venture Blvd on a Sunday, looking for a place to enjoy coffee, tea, and breakfast when we came across Le Pain Quotidien. I'd never heard of it before or been there, but when we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the staff behind the bread and pastry counter. At first, we thought about sitting outside, but it was a bit too sunny and hot for us, and the only available table had no shade. No problem though--we opted to sit inside instead. The interior was beautifully decorated, with natural wood tables and chairs that gave it a cozy, welcoming feel. Most of the floor was wood, though some areas were tiled. You could tell a lot of thought and care went into the design, and it definitely succeeded in creating a warm atmosphere. After we sat down, a friendly young lady (whose name I unfortunately can't recall--apologies!) came over to take our order. My spouse had tea and a Quinoa Avocado Salad with some wonderfully fresh bread slices, which he loved. I went for coffee and the Toasted Paris Ham & Gruyère Croissant with a sunny-side-up egg, which also came with a small green salad. It was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent, but I have to mention one particular detail that really impressed me. Having visited countless cafes and restaurants over the years, I've seen staff wipe down tables--some do it well, others a bit hastily. But today, I watched one of their employees actually kneel down to wipe the bottoms of the metal legs on some small tables. Now that is what I call work ethic, and it deserves to be recognized. But I have to be honest, what they gave me was absolutely delicious and I would come back here to purchase something but it won't be anytime soon, because I have other places yet to try. I didn't even get a chance to speak, and he told me to swipe my check-in. What takes the cake was his condescending tone when he shortly said "Here you go," threw the paper bag on the counter, and turned his back... Didn't even get a chance to place any additional orders... Between the possible and unexpected TooGoodToGo discrimination and the impolite introduction, I'm really not sure what's worse. However, I had already planned to get work done here, so I ordered a large iced latte. The pastries in the bag included a chocolate cake, which tasted like a stale madeleine in cylinder form. The regular butter croissant was decent, and the sugar almond croissant was also decent. Not extremely delicious by any means, though I'm not sure if that's because it tasted stale or because the there really was no salvaging what could have been a pleasant Saturday afternoon coffee break. The baked goods at Le Lain Quotidien have been a staple in my parents household for ages. The baguettes, sourdough and super seed bread are favorites. The pastry selection is not too limited. I love the apple turnover it is soooo damn good! I like to toast it for less than 2 minutes and then dust some powdered sugar on it aside tea. I went in to buy a coffee before my son's performance at a school nearby. The front staff employee greeted me, but then the manager came up to get our order. I got a latte with 3 Splenda, the manager guy said okay and we bought the $5+ drink. The drink is made. I go to taste it, no Splenda. I inquire about the sweetener. He points to a sugar caddy with Raw Sugar, regular Sugar, and an artificial sweetener that is NOT Splenda. See here's the thing, people are particular about their coffee and what kind of sweetener they put in it. Why not simply say we don't have Splenda from the beginning, or even let me know ahead of time that I'll need to sweeten my own drink, to which I would've noticed you don't have Splenda and left. My friend and I were walking by and saw a sign for their "crookie" (croissant cookie). It looked super delicious and intriguing so we went inside to check it out. Unfortunately, they were out, but asked if we could wait 10 minutes so they could bake some. It took probably closer to 15 minutes but we were rewarded by 2 freshly baked chocolate chip crookies. Surprisingly I have never been to Le Pain Quotidien and finally stopped by after seeing an offer on the app "TooGoodToGo" where they have $4.99 "leftover" bags of pastries and food. Essentially, each day they put a number of bags full of leftover pastries from earlier in the day or day prior and sell them for pick-up at certain times. I figured why not jump on it today! My pickup time was between 10:30-4 so I stopped by around 11:30 and the cashier had the bag ready on the shelf behind him! I also ordered a Belgian Mocha to go. The Belgian Mocha was good! Slightly sweet, slightly bitter with that "real" cocoa taste and it was nicely balanced with chocolatey flavor. Not heavy at all and a smooth drink. For the pastry bag, I was given four pastries. First up was an apricot tartlet, it was moist, soft, crumbly, slightly sweet, and slightly tart! Next was the brioche which was AMAZING, one of the best, fluffiest, softest, butteriest breads ever. The pain aux raisin was still crispy and gooey in the center, slightly sweetened by the raisins and a light sugar glaze. The only item I was not too fond of was the chia seed muffin, a bit too strong and Earthy for me but I'm sure people like it!
