This is a French bakery with prices that are astronomically higher than any local bakery in France with pastries of the same quality. This is to be expected, but still jarring. I heard good things about their éclairs, so I got the pistachio éclair. It was really rich and delicious, but it was very small and expensive at $6.34. They were absolutely the best I've had and reasonably priced for how delicious they tasted. We tried lemon, strawberry watermelon, raspberry and pistachio. As someone who has been to France several times, these pastries reminded me of the mouth-watering pastries I would find in the patisseries in Paris. Le Panier's tarte aux pêches was sublime. It was just the right amount of sweetness and the peaches were refreshing. The macarons were perfectly made. The macaron shells were nice and airy, in comparison to other places that have a more dense shell. The next time I am in the area, I'm going to make a beeline for Le Panier. Little note: there's limited table space and I don't believe there were any chairs inside. I quickly popped in for macrons as I was walking by. The store has steps going down into it so we couldn't take my daughter's stroller inside. As we walked up to the display case, one of the salespeople brought out a tray of hot, cheese, melty, flatbready, amazing snacks...I HAD to try. I was visiting Seattle with my friend who lives in France and I found this frenzy bakery. We were super excited to try a few stuff there. I got a few types of croissants and they were all fantastic. My favorite was the almond croissants. The best I have ever had. I also got a French bread which was pretty good. In addition, I got a whole milk latte. It was very good. Unfortunately they don't have organic milk. Plus, the lids of the to go cups were compost. Something rare to see around. The only think I did not like is that there is no places to seat. Le Panier is a bakery worth all the hype. From meringue to tarts to croissants you will suffer decision fatigue here. Unironically my first time trying a meringue is here and wow, it's like a toasted crunchy marshmallow, crunchy and creamy, sweet and light, satisfying and appealing. Grab one even if you're not a fan. The napoleon was great too, layers on layers of cake and cream. Impossible to cut through but easy enough to just take a bite out of. This was nicely balanced in its sweetness. The lemon tart was just that, nice and tart. This is a great pastry if you don't want to overload of sugar and sweetness (though it's probably undoubtedly still loaded with sugar). You can't go wrong with anything here though so come by once or twice. The line moves fairly quick despite the busy hustle and bustle of Pike Place Market. read more

My friend, Emily R., from Hawaii was visiting for the weekend, and she arrived REALLY early. We wanted to find things to do to kill time and decided to go to Pike Place Market. I noticed this bakery was already open and have had it on my list for a while, so I decided to drag her there. It's located next to Piroshky Piroshky on the corner of Pike Pl and Stewart St. The two bakeries next to each other ALWAYS have a line so you won't miss the place. Very cute shop with LOTS of sweets and savory pastries to choose from. From bread to patisseries to macarons to cakes! Parking around Pike's Place is always difficult. There's some parking stalls around the area but most of them are paid street parking a few blocks away from the market. I got the Pain au Chocolat, Chicken & Onion Feuilléte, and Mushroom Feuilléte. The pain au chocolat was delicious! It wasn't warm or fresh out of the oven, but the buttery flakiness of the croissant was there! Perfect amount of chocolate inside it, giving it a really nice balance. My favorites were definitely the Feuillétes, especially the chicken and onion one! Super rich with deliciously seasoned fillings! I bought extra ones for breakfast the next day, and they were still suuuper delicious. Highly recommend! Emily got similar items but also a Zucchini Au jardin (wasn't a favorite for either of us) and some extra ones for her boyfriend. The Almond croissant was very good, the apricot pastry was meh. I also got a hot chocolate - the small size was tiny - I didn't realize how tiny it was and should've gone for a bigger size since it's only a quarter or 2 more. Just like Paris I've been to Paris once this past Christmas and once is enough for me in this lifetime. I remember seeing this place on Tik Tok or Instagram. The line was super short and Yelp BFF and I decided to queue in line for some breakfast pastries. If you see a short line, get in the queue ASAP! I got the apricot croissant and Yelp BFF ordered the jambon mornay (ham and cheese croissant) The croissants were light, flaky and so buttery. The apricot jam wasn't overpowering. The ham and cheese was also delicious. We also got 4 macarons to share. Disclaimer: I am not a fan of French macarons I'm not a fan of floral flavors. I have the same reaction to those with cilantro aversion. I thought I'd give it another try, nope still don't like French macarons. I highly recommend the croissants. AMAZING! I split a chocolate croissant and a kouign-amann (which I had to Google real quick because I forgot what it was called). The chocolate croissant was something I would come back for to try a different kind of croissant. You know, I love a good chocolate croissant, but this was not up to par of a favorite back home. Was it worth the 30 min wait? YES. They offer a great selection of french pastries. I went there around 1pm and they still had a good amount but definitely go earlier for more. Perfectly crispy, flakey, and there's some sort of glaze outside that caramelizes and gives it an extra touch of sweetness! I have loved everything I've tried from here. I enjoy the baguette sandwiches, especially the Brie. Lots of vegetarian options. Very unique and tasty bakery options too. I love the little choux and the croissant selection too. Really can't go wrong with anything here. They have drinks here which are good, but I prefer to grab my drink from one of the nearby coffee shops since they don't have chai. They are also very efficient with the ordering system. This has been one of my favorite bakeries on and off since the 80s. But right now it is the best it has ever been. The friand was a perfection and the kougnin amann, though a slightly different shape than usual, was excellent, with a crispy caramelized sugar top and flaky pastry that was not rich. The slightly smaller size then you may find in other places worked to its advantage. The savory items and bread, of course are equally good. The provincale has always been one of my favorites. Staff is always polite and considerate-- I think back to my days as a barista and how impatient I would've been with people who have been standing in line for five minutes but never thought to peruse the case. read more
