Came here after searching on Yelp for Pho places here in Downtown Hayward. The restaurant is located a in a weird area, I suppose you could call it that. The restaurant is decent sized with plenty of seating. It's a French and Vietnamese restaurant, first thought weird right? For dining it's mostly Vietnamese food, the French food is mainly the baked goods in the bakery section of the restaurant. The food is decent, nothing really special, just your typical food. Not much to say about the food, the only thing is that it did take a while for the food to come out... I'm not quite sure why either... The service here was pretty good. The young gentleman, was nice and attentive, even though he was the only one on duty it seemed. Props to him for giving good service! Parking here kinda sucks because there's only a tiny parking lot in the rear of the restaurant with very few parking spaces. Overall, 3 stars. read more

This place is so cute. I've been here 2 times and I was pretty satisfied both times. The first time, I had some kind of pho. This last time I was there, a friend had to experience pho for the first time, and it was a Monday. I gave in. I had one of those dry noodle bowls, and she loved the pho. The salmon, who knows if it's too fresh, but I loved how they made it. And they didn't skimp, either. Then we had to go across the street to off the grid for some lemon ricotta doughnuts. Came here on a whim to satisfy the "rainy day" pho cravings that we all know of. As a first impression, I do see that the layout of the restaurant is very non-traditional, as they also have a bakery and sell a good amount of pastries on the side. Nonetheless, everything looks clean and the bathroom is also very well taken care of. The broth of their beef pho is none that I have tasted before, as it has a slightly floral fragrance and a bit lighter in flavor than what I am used to. Although, it is not as displeasing as I thought it would be. The more I ate it, the better it felt in my stomach. That's exactly what I've been looking for. Came here to grab two croissants to make a ham and cheese sandwich at home. Heard them open the microwave and warm up my croissants. They gave me the croissants and they were warm; the woman working there asked me if I wanted them warmed in the microwave? Weird. Got home and the croissants were hard which can only mean one thing...they gave me old croissants and tried to pass them off as fresh by zapping them in the microwave. Disgusting. I've visited this place twice within the last two weeks and with my rating, you can definitely tell that I am a fan of the place! Both times that I've been in here, I've ordered the #27, which is the house special. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! It contains shrimp, wonton, crab, and (I believe) slices of pork (I could be wrong). I always load my pho up with the essentials and put tons of sriracha in it to provide that extra kick. Their fried egg rolls are also very delicious. The owner, Alice is a sweet and attentive woman. I've always been a fan of excellent customer service and this place definitely provides it! First time ordering delivery from this place on postmates. Ordered the beef pho and the beef and shrimp spring rolls. The soup was completely macerated with star anise and something else. I couldnt really taste anything else. Had to brush my teeth and drink a lot of water before trying to taste my spring rolls. They to were ok, the wrapping was not as tight as other places. Everything was falling out. Over all ok but dont think I would order again. Oh they forgot to put that the meat comes raw. I know a lot of places do that BUT they tell you. read more

Came for dinner tonight and ordered the sautéed lemongrass chicken with brown rice because I loved it so much the first time I had it (about a year ago)! This time around, it was spicy as hell. I had them make me another plate, non-spicy, but it was still pretty spicy! At this point, I'm totally turned off. Is there a new chef? I also ordered an avocado shake. Turned off even more. My review is all about their combination Pho. It's all about the broth. Wow! Very flavorful! Can't stop spooning the broth during that cold night. Unforgettably good! The place was empty when my husband and I arrived but there was a big group that entered while we were eating. Since they also had baked goodies, I tried their giant Pecan Tart. So good! The only problem with this place was parking. You have to park at the correct parking lot at the back or else your car would be towed. Service was very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend the pho here. You have to try it. Go there soon! read more

This is probably the worst pho ever in my life, first we came in around 6:35pm and waited around 25 or 30 mins and finally the food came in at 7:05pm. second I ordered crab soup noodle that I usually eat but there's no crab paste at all only have the fake carb meat inside and some egg flowers and 2 shrimps. I have been here quite a few times sporadically over the last year. It had been several months since the last visit and as always it did NOT disappoint me!! I even brought my bff who's from the East Bay Area & is Vietnamese but had never been there before. I'm a huge fan of their Phó and egg rolls!! Just a few tips on what I have experienced; Almost everything is made fresh so expect to be there at least 30 minutes and for the food to be piping hot (again it isn't cooked until you order it). Parking can be a bit of a challenge especially during dinner hours or commute hours. It also can be really easy to pass/miss since it's a hole in the wall. Loved just browsing their huge dessert selection. Love how they have couches for you to lounge on and eat desserts slowly. I had the Tom Yum with seafood, decided to try something new, instead of getting pho :P It was flavorful and also very light (I expected a creamy broth). rice noodles were actually served on a separate plate so that I could add as I go and not worry about my noodles getting soggy. They don't give you a correctly portioned amount of noodles as well, so that you actually get the whole soup experience, instead of stuffing your face with noodles or worrying about the noodles sucking up all your broth. Fresh ingredients and not stingy with whats added into the soup. Paradis special spring rolls are yummy and a change from the boring shrimp & pork spring rolls from other places . Order it! So I've been asking myself, what the heck is PHO? So, I yelped and I came across this restaurant, so I thought we'd give it a shot. I've been freezing my booty off the entire day and thought that noodle soup would do me right to warm up. We walked into the empty restaurant and a friendly Vietnamese/French woman greeted us and let us sit anywhere. Of course my son wants to sit next to the fish tanks overstuffed with huge ass fish that can barely swim in circles. I was actually sad the entire time I was there because I felt their torture being so stuck in the small space! So, with the nice womans help I placed an order for my pho, the thinly sliced beef and meatball noodle soup, the sauteed seafood with vegetables rice plate, and egg rolls, and two Thai ice teas. Mind you, this is my very first experience with pho, so I have no clue what to expect or compare it to. I will most definitely venture out and try different spots to see if I stand corrected... The food came and first off, my sons seafood plate had 2 shrimp, and 2 pieces of squid. That was it. All vegetables. He liked the sauce, but it was unimpressive to me. My pho was missing the meatballs and had very little sliced beef. The broth was bland, but I dumped a bunch of hot sauce in it to clear my sinuses. The vegetables were fresh, though. The eggrolls were ok, more greasy than I'm used to, but I wrapped them in lettuce, threw in some mint leaves and carrots and it cut the grease. The Thai iced tea was actually pretty good. The food overall was mediocre....2 stars The service was better with 3 stars Overall 2.5 stars, but I rounded up for service. I met up with my best friend on her 1 hour lunch break and we were both craving Vietnamese food. My first impression of the restaurant was that it was clean and spacious (despite the very cramped parking lot located in the back). All the pictures posted on yelp looked really good so I was excited to try their vermicelli. My friend had to flag down a waitress twice before our order was taken though, which was kind of odd considering there weren't too many other people there during the lunch hour. When I ordered #30 (grilled pork and shrimp with egg rolls vermicelli - around $8.50), the waitress told us that we have to wait because the pork takes around 5-7 minutes to cook perfectly. I thought it was nice of her to give us an estimate of how long the wait was going to be but it ended up taking closer to around 15 minutes before our food came out. At first glance, #30 vermicelli looked really good! Then I realized how shallow the bowl was, which made me a little disappointed. I've been to numerous other restaurants that serve bigger portions for less than $8.50. On the plus side, the portion of grilled meat was huge compared to the amount of lettuce/vegetables that it came with. There wasn't much noodles in the bowl though so I left a little hungry even though I finished everything (which doesn't happen often!). The grilled pork was very flavorful and the shrimp (2 pieces) was cooked perfectly. The egg rolls were pretty good and had a slight crunch to the texture. My friend ordered the crab and tomato soup (I'm not too sure what it's called) and she was pretty happy with it, although I'm not sure if it's because it was good or because we were just very hungry. Overall, I would rate this restaurant 3-stars. The food was good but I wasn't overly impressed by the flavors. The service is honestly what brought the rating down. It was so hard to flag someone down to take our order and no one was to be found when we needed water refills. With so many other vietnamese restaurants around, I probably won't be coming back here unless someone really wanted to go. read more

My boyfriend and I came here the other day for the first time. While I can't review all aspects since we only did take out, the take out we got was great. He ordered a basic pho: beef noodle soup and I got a vegetarian pho and a spicy beef noodle soup (so I could eat one the next day). They put all our soups and containers in one huge box for easy carrying which was nice. I appreciated that all the veggies and meat were kept separate from the broth for freshness. The spicy soup had the right amount of spice and the broth was delicious. The vegetarian pho was very filling and the veggies included carrots, zucchini, jalapeños, string beans, mushrooms, bok choy and more. All soups came with a small container of sriracha mixed with hoisin sauce. The restaurant itself is on a very busy street but there is a small parking lot connected to the back of it. All in all I think this may be our new go to pho spot. read more

Came here just hoping that things have changed...nope. My Vietnamese friends said YEARS ago, don't waste my time or $$ and yet, here we are... I don't know understand what other yelpers found that was good, the most basic things sucked, even my daughter asked if there was a rating system to give them 1/2 a star. Okay, so the fresh pork and shrimp rolls were decent, but the rice paper was loose so it was kind of gummy, lacking flavor. The menu is convoluted and confusing, it's not focused, there's Thai, Korean, Chinese...some Vietnamese. Had the combo pho and everything about it was off, the broth was thin with flavor, the limited amount of meat tasted stale, old and dry (how is that possible with meat in broth?). There were meatballs that really tasted...yucky (best description other than putrid). My daughter opted for rice plate with grilled beef - never have I ever seen grilled beef wrapped around onions in any Vietnamese restaurant, wait...there was BBQ sauce on top! WTF! She insisted I taste it - it was like I've ever tasted before, not Asian. We did not finish our meals, we just had to get out of there, it was that bad. What a quaint spot. Conveniently located right next to the Main Hayward Library, Patisserie is still a bit hidden amongst the traffic. The signage is not that great, but you can spot this place by it's garden-like area. Patisserie's insides are very mom and pop shop. The walls are covered with illustrations and photos of Paris. The left hand side are glass bakery counters, while the cashier is against the back right wall. The private parking lot accommodates around ten cars. Food is a mix of French bakery and Vietnamese dishes. They have your typical selection of rice dishes, sandwiches, and baked goods. I had their vermicelli with fried tofu ($6.50). It was kinda average, yet held up well to the warm weather. Portions are also good. I was satisfied with the dish although I wouldn't say it's the best I've had. I also ordered a blueberry cream cheese croissant ($1.92). Good lord this thing is huge. I only taken a couple of bites, but it's pretty good. Service was friendly and prompt. There seemed to be a young son helping out while a young waitress takes your order. The place was fairly filled during the lunch hour. Seating serves around 30-40. __ I'd gladly visit this place again for lunch or baked goods. I'm interested to see how their sandwiches stack up. read more

I'm soooo happy there is a Pho restaurant two blocks away from the house. We had just returned from our Amsterdam vacation and needed something warm and soothing from the bitter Bay Area cold. We came to Le Paradis around 11am on a Sunday. They where bringing out warm fresh pastries and baguettes from the kitchen. They have a variety of pastries, breads, meringues. We where there for the Pho. We both ordered the Beef Pho and the soup came out pretty quickly. A dash of this a squeeze of lemon some basil and hot sauce and yum! That definitely hit the spot. The beef balls where not rubbery or hard, but had a firm soft texture. I always order my beef raw on the side. That way I can control how long the beef cooks in the broth. Medium rare is how I like it in my pho. They also have tapioca drinks. By the cash register they have pictures of some of the rice dishes. They definitely looked good and will have to try one of those rice dishes for next time. On our way out we could not help but buy some pastries. We had one strawberry meringue and an order of peanut butter cookies. To my dismay when we got home instead of peanut butter cookies they made a mistake and gave me chocolate chip cookies. And they where not good at all. Hard and stale. Oh well at least the pho was good. I will be back for the food and might give the pastries a second chance. read more

Parking was available always, however getting to the parking lot was a stretch because the restaurant is located on the busy streets of Mission and D Streets in Hayward. After some maneuvering we got in. We ordered the fried spring rolls(with meat), spicy meatball soup noodle and crab, egg and tomato soup noodles. They were all delicious and one of the ladies came up to us and said " We don't put MSG in our soup." which is exactly what we want. The noodle soups took some time, however the egg rolls with a side of mint and lettuce came first and not long after we were finished with the egg rolls the noodles came. The noodle soups were accompanied by basil, shredded lettuce, bean sprouts, lime and chili slices, so we got our fiber quota of the day. Both soups were full of flavor, the beef was tender and and the crab meatballs delicious! We were so full we couldn't eat any dessert and they had ALL SORTS of sweets and pastries, so we added a blueberry creme cake to go. Have to review that another time! read more

#17 combination pho, doesn't come tendon and tripe, unlike the usual combo pho we are used to. Soup base tasted mediocre. #38 vermicelli with grilled chicken, shrimp, and egg rolls was pretty good. All ingredients tasted fresh. I was there for just party of 2. The place was not packed but it took 25 minutes for our food to arrive. Boyfriend and I decided to come here 30 minutes before they closed. We were still welcomed and served promptly, and the food came out quickly too. Place was clean, tables were decently full for a Monday night (8 others were dining in), and the girl serving us answered my boyfriend's questions with a cheery attitude. I had the egg noodle pork wonton soup (#16) - it was INCREDIBLE. 5/5. Phenomenal. I wish I could eat this every. damn. day. Boyfriend had the shrimp, egg roll, and chicken vermicelli (#38). He gave it 3.75/5 because the chicken was a little fatty. He said the portion size was fine, though. All in all, a great dining experience with excellent food. I highly recommend stopping by Le Paradis if you're in/near downtown Hayward. I'm very pleased with all the good eateries that have been popping up in the area in the last couple of years, and the Hayward area hasn't always been a place that's easy to find good Asian food. I had the pho and thought it was very good. I really like that their menu is so much more than pho as well, making me understand why they did not choose a mundane variation of the normal pho restaurant names. In addition to Vietnamese and American sandwiches, they also have a good amount of baked goods, great for takeout after you've finished your meal. Pleasant decor, great food, and good prices. Really the only criticism is their small and cramped parking lot behind the restaurant. You'll understand when you see it. You may well want to park across the street, where there should be plenty of well-lit and more spacious parking spots. Lastly, they do have two TVs, in case there happens to be a game on you want to watch while eating there. read more

Came here with my dad for the first time yesterday for an early dinner. We ordered: 1. Crispy tofu served w/ sweet chili sauce 2. Beef Pho (regular size) 3. Grilled beef and egg roll vermicelli The crispy tofu was good! I'm always a fan of a good crispy tofu, but they breaded it in a way to give it an extra crunch. Even my dad who normally isn't a huge fan of crispy tofu noticed the different breading at ate more than he usually does. The beef pho came with plenty of thinly sliced beef, more than other places. The broth was complex, and more star anise-y than other pho broths. My dad also super enjoyed his vermicelli. The egg rolls were all the smaller side, but they were pretty good. The service was good. There were many only 3 tables filled during the entire time we ate. This place, unlike other Vietnamese places, also has a bakery section. I purchased a shortbread cookie, pumpkin bread and some sort of almond cookie. As I'm writing this review, I have only consumed the shortbread cookie. It was fresh and tasty. This place is clearly a family run joint and I will try to stop by whenever I'm in the area. They do have a small parking lot in the back if you are having trouble finding parking on the street. Let me warn you, the food doesn't come out as quickly as other pho places, so be patient. The food is well worth the wait. read more

Great food and even better service. They don't always have ALL baked goods in stock, so if you're searching for something in particular, call ahead to make sure there will be some.
