Boyfriend and I decided to come here 30 minutes before they closed. We were still welcomed and served promptly, and the food came out quickly too. Place was clean, tables were decently full for a Monday night (8 others were dining in), and the girl serving us answered my boyfriend's questions with a cheery attitude. I had the egg noodle pork wonton soup (#16) - it was INCREDIBLE. 5/5. Phenomenal. I wish I could eat this every. damn. day. Boyfriend had the shrimp, egg roll, and chicken vermicelli (#38). It's lighter, less oily and isn't as MSG laden as a typical broth would be; less oxtail, knuckle and bone marrow or better skimming? Who knows but I can phOck with a lighter choice once in a blue moon. Not seeing huge oil circles surfacing from the fat is always welcomed. - phO: most disappointing thing is the topping options! Only tai (thinly sliced beef) and bo vien (beef balls) for cOw-nivores; brisket, fatty flank and tendOn didn't get an invitation *sad-face*. I do digg the fact that they have a "truly" veggie phO with loads of vegetables, tOfu and actual veggie broth though; that's RARE! + Mi Thap Cam (Combo Egg Noodle) is my preferred nOodz zOup because egg nOodz don't get as soggy as rice nOodz and theirs includes hoanh thanh (wontons), imitation crab (surumi), bo vien, skrimps and a lot of chicken. Didn't care too much for the wontons cuz they were mushy in the middle but disappointed that it had imitation crab instead of crab claws like the pic on the wall! All of the broths are a tad sweet(er) but far from flavorless as some may say. I can taste the onions, cloves, star anise and a strong hint of ginger fO' shO! Overall, food was good but for the simple fact that their offerings are lighter and they have a good vegetarian selection pushes this to a solid 4! One of my roomies is a veggie and I once was for 11 months (started with a lent) so Le Paradis makes it easy for us to dine out. The server who gave us water had a white tee with what looked like food stains on his chest with black basketball shorts and sliders for shoes. He looked like he rolled out bed and came to work. They even had those cheap 99 cents snowflakes hanging by the window as decor (it's July). Don't let that fool you, the vermicelli here is amazeballs! I ordered the pork and shrimp spring rolls. It's two long pieces cut into 4. The sauce is delicious, but the spring rolls had a little too much noodles and not enough meat and veggies for my taste. I would still probably order it again though since the sauce was so delicious. The fish sauce is not too overpowering and not too stinky. The vermicelli bowl with BBQ pork, 2 shrimp and sliced egg rolls so the best I've ever had! So satisfyingly fresh and crisp and flavorful! I usually put some fish sauce, hoisin and sirancha in it and mix it all together. Come sit down and tell the server you want #30, you will not be disappointed. My man got the combination beef pho is extra large. It was average and the broth was nothing spectacular. Finally came around, so glad I did! I love peanut sauce, and theirs has a little baby kick. Their lemon grass chicken vermicelli also has a slight kick but it's not super spicy- the vermicelli bowls here have more noodle and protein then salad ratio, in general a smaller portion but more meat total. Doesn't come with a bowl of fish sauce, but they have some on the table - just ask for more if the little bottle isn't enough! In general, high quality ingredients and friendly service. Came here with my dad for the first time yesterday for an early dinner. We ordered: 1. Crispy tofu served w/ sweet chili sauce 2. Beef Pho (regular size) 3. Grilled beef and egg roll vermicelli The crispy tofu was good! I'm always a fan of a good crispy tofu, but they breaded it in a way to give it an extra crunch. Even my dad who normally isn't a huge fan of crispy tofu noticed the different breading at ate more than he usually does. The beef pho came with plenty of thinly sliced beef, more than other places. The broth was complex, and more star anise-y than other pho broths. My dad also super enjoyed his vermicelli. The egg rolls were all the smaller side, but they were pretty good. The service was good. There were many only 3 tables filled during the entire time we ate. This place, unlike other Vietnamese places, also has a bakery section. I purchased a shortbread cookie, pumpkin bread and some sort of almond cookie. As I'm writing this review, I have only consumed the shortbread cookie. It was fresh and tasty. This place is clearly a family run joint and I will try to stop by whenever I'm in the area. They do have a small parking lot in the back if you are having trouble finding parking on the street. Let me warn you, the food doesn't come out as quickly as other pho places, so be patient. The food is well worth the wait. read more

I ordered the grilled pork with shrimp and eggroll over vermicelli and instead of typical orange sauce they serve you they gAve me a tray of hot chili red sauce , and some kind of fish sauce (not a big fan of fish sauce) but i tried it with my order cause I'm not bout to eat it with no sauce lol.. O.M.G it was good. I also love the bowl that they serve it with (not your typical pho bowl) I ordered a side chicken broth and that tasted good as we'll very soothing for your throat (gingery but just right).. First off if I was rating their customer service alone I'd give it a five star. The sweet little lady patiently answered my four phone calls of questions to decide what I want. She joked with us when we picked up the food and was very friendly. We ordered : combination pho - very tasty, I didn't need to add sriracha like I usually do, very skimpy on all the meats. Probably would've been different had I not ordered to go. Overall really yummy. BBQ grilled pork over vermicelli - very good. Crispy fried tofu - tofu wasn't crispy at all, actually pretty mushy. Peanut sauce was really thick kinda weird tasting. Avocado smoothie - Not very sweet, pretty bland, very small for almost $4. I'll probably go back and eat in, the pho flavor was defiantly worth it. The owner and staff are very helpful and friendly which is always a positive thing on restaurants. I stop here every time I get the chance to grab a bite to eat. If I'm in a rush I would order their Vietnamese sandwiches, which are so good. I usually get the rice plate or the vermicelli for lunch but the broth of their pho is loaded with amazing flavors. Le Paradis is a decent Vietnamese restaurant with good vegetarian options. The restaurant itself doesn't look like a Vietnamese restaurant on the inside: the decorations are intended to be French or something European. The food was okay, and the place felt very empty for Saturday around lunch time. I ordered the tofu spring rolls and the vegetarian pho. The tofu spring rolls were good. It didn't taste as fresh as I hoped, but the peanut sauce was of great consistency. The vegetarian pho had a solid broth, but there were odd vegetables inside that detracted from the dish. There were green beans and some thick white parts of cabbage XYZ, which didn't taste good. Le Paradis added crispy onion bits to the pho, which was a fun addition. I ended up giving a third of my pho to my friend, whom ordered a tofu banh mi sandwich that turned out to be not so good. I found Le Paradis through Yelp, and think that's the only reason I'd come back: I'm craving Vietnamese food, driving to Yosemite or San Francisco or somewhere in Northern California, and looking for a place along the way. read more

My boyfriend and I were craving pho so we decided to go to this Vietnamese restaurant. They had french paintings and they also had pastries right when you walk in which was a neat twist/fusion to an asian restaurant. We were seated and decided to explore the menu. This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Hayward! Alice and her family treat us like old friends every time we're there, which is at least once a week. Thinly sliced beef pho 2. Shrimp or chicken pad thai (depending on my mood) 3. 5 spice chicken and tomato rice 4. Shrimp corn soup 5. Pork fried rice 6. Grilled BBQ Pork and Shrimp Vermicelli bowl 7. Combination Vietnamese sandwich (I could keep listing dishes; there are over 100 different menu items!) I usually just get water, but my boyfriend likes their Vietnamese Iced Coffee. Food comes out piping hot and quick as can be. Alice offers all of the menu to-go, too. Alice makes pastries that are out of this world - Loaded blueberry muffins, double chocolate chip muffins, fruit and custard tarts, cakes, flavored macroons, meringues, cookies, breads, brownies and different buns (pork and chicken and mushroom are delicious). We always grab a few pastries to take home for dessert or breakfast. I highly recommend checking this place out at least once. It's on the corner of D and Mission in downtown Hayward (across from the library). Best way to get to the parking lot is off Watkins and D street. Parking can be difficult, but definitely worth it. My co-worker told me we should try a pho place that I hadn't been to so I could write a new Yelp review and I couldn't resist the offer. :) I chose to go to Le Paradis this week because it looked like a quaint shop in downtown Hayward. This restaurant has a small parking lot on the side of the building which was pretty convenient vs. trying to find street parking. We were immediately greeted as we entered the restaurant. The interior of the restaurant reminded me of a small cafe in Paris. One wall of the restaurant had baked pastries. I got the pho with sliced beef and meatballs, while my co-worker got the spicy beef noodle soup (bun bo hue). The pho was delicious. The broth didn't taste like MSG and had a nice meaty flavor. The meatballs with tendons were tender and not too tough or chewy. I wish the pho had tripe and tendons, but Le Paradis doesn't have pho that's super traditional in that sense. The noodles were firm and a great texture. We also had the pork and shrimp spring rolls. These were my favorite. They did not skimp on the shrimp, which was a major plus! This Vietnamese restaurant is different from most because it also has a French bakery inside. The owner makes fresh rolls for their Vietnamese sandwiches so make sure you grab those earlier in the day. My favorite appetizers is the fried egg rolls, crispy on the outside and flavorful on the Inside you can't go wrong. The next item is the spring rolls which I like but not a fan of the mint leaves inside so usually take them out. Now let's get to the good stuff! The pho is amazing, and Iet me tell you the broth is so rich that you legit don't even need any extra sauces to add flavor but because I love everything spicy I always add sriracha/garlic chili.
