We were feeling a bit under the weather and decided to get some pho. I ordered the Pho Combination, which came with rare steak, brisket, flank, tendon, tripe and beef ball, and along with a side of bean sprout, jalapeno, lime and basil. The broth was really good, the meat was tender, and the portion was generous. Highly recommended!

I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of Le Pho and his passion was evident. The restaurant is very large, bright and airy. But what keeps me coming back is the spicy lemongrass chicken vermicelli bowl. It's my favorite vermicelli that I've tried in the Bay Area! So flavorful, perfect amount of sauce and tang, and just fantastic every single time. The Vietnamese coffee is a close second. Obsessed!

Great service ! Super fast, they brought me my order super quick within 5 to 15 minutes of me ordering. The food was amazing. I got a veggie pho and the tofu spring rolls and they were fresh and tasteful. I went on a Monday so it was pretty quiet, but super relaxing

Still consistently good! Their Pho Dac Biet today hit all of the right notes: a fragrant and hot Pho broth, tender and tasty meat, a nice balance of protein vs noodles, and appropriate garnish on top. Banh Mi's were delicious as always too!

First time at this place and I wasn't disappointed. I could smell the food cooking from outside and it just stirred up my cravings. I loved the simple and clean wood look inside from the tables and chairs. The shrimp roll appetizers were good especially with the peanut dipping sauce and some spicy pepper sauce for the second bite, yum. The Vermicelli with chicken was lovely. The chicken was so tasty and grilled to perfection I could eat and whole bowl of just that chicken. The service was very friendly and prompt. Overall a very good experience and I would go back for more.

Ambiance here is nice. Boyfriend and I came in the afternoon and there were only two tables. The meats in the clay pot tasted good, but my only complaint for this dish is that there were way more meats than rice provided. The pho tasted standard so no complaints about that. The only thing I ordered that I did not enjoy was their pork belly bánh mì. For a bánh mì that is nearly $11, there was barely any pork belly or pickled carrots and daikon in there. And it seemed like they used regular mayonnaise instead of the traditional Vietnamese aioli. Sandwich was very mid, and I've had way better bánh mì sandwiches in san Leandro for $7 with double the filling.

It's a good place if you want hot pho. the broth is somewhat decent but I have tired better haha. the meat is slight too thick not really my favorite. the server is nice but she forgot our spring rolls lol. the layout of the restaurant is a bit weird. 3 people sitting in the corner is a bit tight.

Very good Vietnamese restaurant. I went there pho and ended up having the pork chops that were very good. My friend had the Mongolian beef clay pot, and raved about it. The service was quick, but we went during the time of day when there was not a whole lot of people there. The restaurant is on a busy corner so parking can be a bit tough but the food is good. The service is friendly and seating is ample.

First time visitors. The restaurant is spacious with windows to let in natural light. Street parking wasn't that difficult. Service was quick and friendly. The staff were attentive. Large pho #25 and it was delicious and very generous with their noodles and protein. Rice plate was ok. Seafood claypot, served in a claypot with the protein over rice. It was flavorful just more on the sweet side. I would definitely come back for their pho.

    27. Pho Chicken - Pho Ga B3- BANH MI GRILLED TURMERIC CHICKEN

Delicious food! I got a pretty basic order to share with my partner : imperial pork egg rolls, chicken banh mi and chicken pho. The rolls were fresh, flavorful and had great texture. The pho was simple but comforting. The broth was mild but layered with flavors, the noodles were well cooked and it came with bean sprouts, a generous amount of scallions, basil and jalapeños. The chicken was slightly tough breast meat, but most places use breast meat so this isn't really an issue here specifically. The banh mi was a triumph. Pate, mayo, grilled chicken (not dry at all), fresh pickled veggies and toasted bread. I loved it! The staff is very kind and they do a great job. The restaurant is clean, well decorated, and the ambiance is calm. This is definitely my new go to spot for Vietnamese food.

Despite the proximity to the best pho in San Jose/South Bay, finding great pho in Berkeley/SF can be such a struggle. We stopped by Le Pho on my most recent visit to Berkeley and I was pleasantly surprised. We dropped by during a quiet Friday at noon. The restaurant itself is bright and welcoming with plenty of natural sunlight shining in through the windows. The menu is extensive and offers pho, rice plates, vermicelli salads, and a few other entrees as well. I ordered the "build your own" pho with rare steak, brisket, and meatball. The broth here is noticeably more complex and satiating than others I've had in the East Bay. They are very generous on the protein which is much appreciated. We also ordered the fried egg rolls and a pork chop broken rice plate to share. Both were delicious and we even had a few customers walk over to ask what we ordered. Definitely would come back again on a cold night.

The rib was definitely the most impressive part of the dish. Not only was it huge and very Instagrammable, but it was also extremely tender--kind of like braised oxtail, but served in a cleaner, lighter broth. The daikon balanced out the richness of the meat really well, and overall, I'd say this was a very satisfying meal. The beef and tomato lo mein, on the other hand, was probably closer to a 2.5/5. The dish leaned heavily on the tomato flavor, only had a few pieces of meat, and definitely needed additional seasoning, such as soy sauce, white pepper, or something to bring more depth. One thing that could be improved is the ordering experience. Their tablet system felt a bit cheap, and it was difficult to clearly see what each dish looked like on the screen. Providing a printed menu alongside the tablet would be really helpful.

Growing up in Wisconsin in a small city at the tip of Lake Superior Chinese restaurants were just about the only ethnic food available throughout the country. Exotic as they may seem to have been and widespread Nationally which is partly due to the Chinese building the railroads cross country. Chicago Cafe (Woodland, CA): Founded in 1903, academic research suggests this spot near Sacramento is the oldest continuously operating Chinese restaurant in the U.S. and California. These days I prefer Vietnamese or Thai all day long because the flavors are better and more variety and cleaner with respect to how the dishes are prepared. Well, I stumbled into this spot today and I was rather blown away. Large portions, low prices, excellent variety and top notch service. And a huge portion for only $13.95. I had the vegetable rice, complementary hot sauce and a nice iced cold five dollar Heineken. OK, this is a spot to put on your list. See you there!!! And now here are some interesting factoids: While thousands of Chinese immigrants first came to the U.S. to build the transcontinental railroad in the 1800s, it was the subsequent decades of legal discrimination that forced a marginalized community to turn the restaurant industry into their primary means of survival and citizenship. The "Lo Mein Loophole": In the early 20th century, U.S. courts recognized restaurant ownership as a pathway to obtain merchant visas. This loophole sparked a massive boom in the creation of Chinese restaurants, particularly luxury "chop suey palaces".
