I came here last night and ordered the pork vermicelli bowl and it was extremely underwhelming. The grilled pork was flavorless and over cooked and the noodles were stuck together making it extremely difficult to eat. Other than the fish sauce, the bowl had no flavor. I don't ever use sriracha for vermicelli noodle bowls but needed to for this one because it was so bland. My girlfriend ordered the broken rice plate with grilled pork chop and similarly, the pork was unseasoned and over cooked. I would not come back again. The service was slow around dinner rush, the food is not the cheapest, and there's just so much better tasting food you can get in the area. The restaurant this place replaced - Claypot, was a lot better in my opinion. I've been wanting to try this place ever since it replaced the hot pot shop and no better time than a cold Bay day. WHAT WE GOT: + #20 - combo bowl (rare steak, well done brisket, flank, tendon, and tripe) + Bún bò Hu PROS: + Big open space. There was plenty of seats and it was well maintained. Overall the place was clean and didn't feel crowded at all. + Quick service - once we entered and ordered it only took about 5 mins to get our bowls. + They don't skimp out on ingredients. I felt that the large bowl had plenty of meat and just the right amount of noodles. They even had a good amount of limes and bean sprouts which I feel can be lacking at some places. + Large variety of been broth soup, appetizers, clay pot rice, stir fry noodles, etc. IMPROVEMENTS: + I wish the broth was MUCH hotter. It felt a little lukewarm and didn't really hit the soup spot all the way. + Soup broths could have more depth/complex flavors. + Parking in the area can be tough since it's on San Pablo/Dwight, but we can grad some free spots in the surrounding areas. There is still so much I need to try at Le Pho, but I think this is as good as it gets for Vietnamese food in Berkeley. Each dish we had was flavored wonderfully and they have an extensive menu full of appetizers, noodle soups, rice dishes, and clay pots! Plus, I really enjoyed dining in their open, bright, and modern restaurant (not common for Vietnamese spots!). What we had: - Bun bo hue: SO GOOD. Broth was delicious and it had the perfect amount of meat. I'm a noodle lover so I could've probably done with more noodles, but they were definitely cooked well. Order the clay pot - don't doubt it. How have I not discovered this little gem sooner? Located on the intersection of Dwight and San Pablo, I must have driven past this place hundreds of times before finally stopping in for dinner. I ordered the Dill Turmeric Catfish Spring Rolls, Pho Brisket, and the pork belly clay pot with some thai iced tea to wash it all down. * Disclaimer: I am proud to say I lack to willpower to turn down a thai tea, even when at 8pm when I risk a night of potential sleep deprivation... but seriously, how can you NOT order a thai tea once you see it on the menu?? The catfish appetizer and pho were delicious- generously portioned and arrived pipping hot within 10 minutes of ordering. And then there was the clay pot with pork belly.... I was simply blown away. The pork belly was rich and so delicate it basically melted in my mouth. The clay pot keeps the contents hot, so you can take your time in savoring the rich flavors. The clay pot gives the outer edges of the rice an almost-crunchy texture; which I loved in contrast to the fall-apart tenderness of the pork belly. I will definitely be returning! We can say our take-out experience with Le Pho wasn't the best and here's why: Food: C I love pho. Pretty sure I was born on a nest of pho noodles so I was super excited to try this place since it was close to Pho Le and our place! Unfortunately, we didn't get the food to match our expectations. The broth temperature right off the bat was not hot at all; not only to the touch, but it took about 7 minutes until the noodles were good to eat from their original shape. There was also just two shrimps in two of the shrimp spring rolls and ONLY one in the other two! (Also nothing against them, but something I wasn't used to was a large cucumber piece in the middle of the spring rolls). However, I did enjoy the meats very much. Their brisket and tendon were spot on! Price: C- Most pho places I've visited were of great appeal because of their food to price ratio. Unfortunately this was not the case. Having to pay $9 for 3 egg rolls was pretty alarming. And you don't get too much more noodles for a large compared to a small. I also ordered extra tendon and got a solid two additional small pieces ($2.50 extra). Needless to say, for two people, we paid a little over $50 for dinner (pretty astounding). Service: A Service at the takeout register was quick, efficient and to the point. In and out in less than 3 minutes. Overall: C I don't imagine we will be going back anytime soon, maybe to try other dishes, but not until we have tried other pho venues. I hope others have a better experience! read more

It's been years since I first ate here, and my hopes for a better meal didn't materialize. The entire menu is made for the American palette, mixed in with a Chinese touch. Not that's there's anything wrong with that, but temper your expectations. The pho is bland, noodles are Al dente and the grilled pork seemed more like gristle with bbq sauce on top. I had the combination pho large for $16 and this was very filling. It had the perfect amount of meat and the broth was rich. The che for $6 was a little too sweet for me but it was still delicious. Insides: Le Pho is surprisingly spacious and bright from natural light inside. The different table configurations are ideal for anyone from a dining couple to a large group of co-workers out for lunch together. Tables are preset with a literal toolbox of napkins, chopsticks, spoons, sriracha/hoisin sauce, and salt/pepper. Menu: Besides the obvious pho selections, Le Pho also includes an impressive array of rice noodles (BBH too! awww yeaaa!!), rice dishes, stir fry noodles, soup/stew and of course... drinks! No boba here, but they do have many fresh fruit juices (carrot/apple/watermelon/coconut/etc), lemonades, lots of tea, classic Vietnamese drip coffee (CPSD), and various beers as well. The catfish and dill flavors were much more prominent than the the spring rolls. Fish sauce was good. Combination pho - Large portions, good quality of meat, and one of the better pho restaurants in the East Bay. Iced coffee - Small, not too sweet. Service - Cold, distant, never smiled but polite and efficient. Interior - Lots of windows, pretty, and full of light. Probably the prettiest, most calming Vietnamese restaurant I've been to. I came on a Friday afternoon in December for lunch. It is bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. The place was packed with small groups and single diners. There was room between tables and I felt comfortable with the COVID protocols. All the servers wore masks. This was my first time here and with a name like Le Pho, it was obvious what I was going to get. I debated about the choices but stuck with chicken pho. I was surprised to find a flavorful broth with a healthy number of chicken breast pieces. I added all the extras, mint, sprouts, lime to extract all the flavor from the broth.
