My dad's steak was supposed to be well done. He got a rare steak with blood all over his eggs. Gross af!! They took it back and when we got it again still blood. I told them if we can get it cooked well and not bloody. They took it back and brought a burnt steak. Like are they joking ? It was inedible. Staff was stellar and accommodating! We went in over the weekend for breakfast, and they were able to seat a group of us in the back outdoor area. I ordered the Beefeater sandwich with tots, and a side salad, and everything was fresh. The sandwich was very good. The bread wasn't over toasted, although the chiles in it did make the bottom bread a bit soggy. The sliced beef was a bit basic, but honestly, it was what I was expecting and wanted. Never been to this place but wanted to check it out, so I finally did. Entering, it wasn't quite pleasant we waited and the lady did not acknowledge us as we stood in front of her. Anyways, a man said they were here before me and she sat us down. I don't think she meant much harm but that's not ok for a first visit to my opinion. I'm very disappointed at the service i've been getting my last few times at the restaurant, In particular the young hispanic female server. I'm very concerned about the way management handled my complaint, it was misconstrued and blown out of proportion. I wanted to talk to someone because I've been a long time customer and I've never had issues before. I refuse to be treated the way I've been treated lately by the same young lady server. How my complaint was handled was very unprofessional and I was verbally attacked by one of the staff as I was leaving in my car. Because im a Black woman, i was accused of using the race card on everyone when the real issue was the lack of service by that one particular waitress. I just want it to be addressed since I have been apparently misunderstood. The manager talked to the staff and customers about my complaint and she lied , making false statements about me. I am very upset and embarrassed by the treatment I received before and after my complaint. I don't appreciate being ambushed in the parking lot and gosssiped about when I have been a long to time customer for over 35 hrs. This is unacceptable behavior. Also even though I received horrible service I was Still going to tip my waitress (manager) but she refused very loudly in front of the whole restaurant and wouldn't take my money, which was another slap in the face . This was all because I reported to management that I got bad service. If you want a Hardy down home meal, this restaurant might work for you. I went on a busy day but was told it's busier here all the time. The restaurant itself is a little dated. In my opinion the prices were decent. I didn't feel the love in the food to be honest. If I had my choice I would go to Russell's in Pasadena. It's worth the wait. I have wanted to try this place for over 30 years but it always looked too busy ( the outside waiting benches were full of customers) or it was after 3 pm, when they close. So when my husband had to picked up from the Sierra Honda Service dealer in Monrovia early Saturday morning. I thought here is my chance! Parking was pretty much full already because they share a lot with a tire shop, but we backed into a corner spot. They have a cheerful covered patio seating with yellow tables. A couple of tables were occupied, since the summer morning was still cool. I checked on Yelp to see if dogs are allowed on the patio. Unfortunately, no. We entered through the front, behind a party of 3. At 9:20, there wasn't any other customers waiting after us, however the restaurant was full. They have counter service and booths throughout the rather small interior. It's decorated for the summer with bright floral gift bags hanging from the ceiling and other bright sunny motifs augmented the usual 1950s diner decor. A waiter told a neighboring party that they decorate with the holidays or seasons. 4th of July was recently put away. The staff is friendly, efficient and speedy. Coffee is a bit weak tasting but they refill quickly. The prices on the menu are reasonable and not outrageous for what you receive. Portions are huge. I was mystified what a b/g stands for: biscuit and gravy, of course! You can also sub a pancake for your toast on any breakfast meal. Definitely do it! The pancake is large and fluffy and comes with a knob of butter. My husband liked his homefried potatoes, which are chunks of taters fried with bell peppers and onions. My hash browns were the usual. They could have been a bit crisper. The chicken fried steak was fine with just the right amount of milk gravy. They also make a homemade salsa. They also offer lunch. I glanced at that menu. It's odd that they have corned beef sandwiches but only make a CANNED corned beef hash. Altogether, I'm glad I finally tried this iconic Monrovia restaurant. read more

We had breakfast here this morning and boy it's a lot of food. I forgot to tell them to make my hash brown extra crispy so they taste like regular potatoes. My husband forgot to tell them to make the bacon crispy. I tried them and they were a bit rubbery. The food is quite plentiful and decent. Cool old school restaurant. You can feel the history of this place. Dining room and an outdoor seating area. The place is usually crowded and they crank out the food. Speaking of the food, it was great and there was a lot of it! Come here hungry because the portions are healthy! I had the breakfast burrito and it was a small oil tanker. Filled with eggs, hash browns, sausage and cheese. All wrapped up in a fresh flour tortilla. The wife had eggs, sausage, hash browns and a biscuit. It was all hot, tasty and plentiful. Right on the main street, ample parking, and a down-hime kind of vibe inside, where wait staff greet regulars by name. The menu is full of diner classic fate, the staff is quick and efficient, the food comes out surprisingly quick and oh so good! My wife had oatmeal and bacon and when she couldn't finish it decided to take it home. The next morning it was still good. The others two of us had eggs & potatoes (two different ways) which were cooked perfectly, both the eggs and potatoes. Everything looked really good when it came out, and it came out fast! however, my eggs were kinda undercooked, the ham was not very flavorful, the hash browns were not crispy at all, and the pancakes were giving straight out of a box mix. So, the food was just...fine. The service was fine although we felt kinda rushed out at the end. The English muffin was pretty good but one side was thick and one side wasn't, haha. Discovered this place several months ago and decided to give it a go. To start, it's a small restaurant with limited parking on the side of the restaurant as well as street parking with one handicap parking space. There is inside and patio dining which is perfect for us since my wife is handicapped and can easily wheel to the side of the patio area. The patio area is clean and very spacious. You have elbow room and not bumping into other chairs. The staff is fast and friendly; Our order came out exactly how we ordered it. The amount of food served is definitely abundant and well worth the money. My coffee cup was never empty and we were not neglected even though it was busy. Been there three times while visiting Arcadia and we left with doggie bags Each time. Shoutout to the waitresses in the patio area. We loved your attentiveness and sense of humor. Husband and I ate at LeRoy 's on 4th of July 2024. The staff is new. Only 1 familiar waitress. I ordered my usual but the cut up fruit was old and definitely from the day before as the pineapple and watermelon was soggy and brown around the edges. Also the cut oranges were stuck together. The waitress had an attitude and seemed not to want to be there. No one came to check on us after I complained about the fruit. Part of the Monrovia establishment. This popular neighborhood cafe has been a stable of this city forever. We have been coming here for old fashion American breakfast for as long as I remember. After shopping for Turkey for a Friendsgiving dinner at Sprouts, we decided to have breakfast here. It was a surprise that we didn't have to wait to be seated. The people here are very folksy. So we just help ourselves and find a table yosit down. The service was very friendly and quick. We put in our orders and the food came out in less than 15 minutes. We order our usual breakfast burrito and Belgian waffle with eggs. The burrito was quite good with chorizo and egg. This is everyone's favorite. And then the waffle is good but not perfect like the ones at Russell's. They could have make the waffles a bit more crispy. But for comfort food, this was good enough for us. The restaurant is a bit short handed so the swift service was a surprise for me. I have a lot of respects for the waitress working hard to serve their customers.
