I guess my impression is "meh". The pho is pretty good, but not spectacular, and the meat was a little tough. The restaurant is really not very clean, especially the carpet. I came in with a group, and they provided 2 plates of bean sprouts, basil, jalapenos, and limes that were to be split between 8 of us. Frankly, I like a lot of bean sprouts and jalapenos in my pho, but felt like I had to use them sparingly because we had to share with each other. Surprise, surprise, I like Pho!! I've never tried Pho before, because I'm not a fan of Vietnamese food. I've been curious about it though, since I do like soup, so when a colleague asked if I wanted to go and try it today, I figured why not it's the perfect day for soup. Headed to Canada and stopped here for lunch. Got the beef combo x large. The serving size is ENORMOUS. I like to eat and I was hungry, but this bowl was monstrous. And only for $8.95. What. A. Steal. The broth was dark and flavorful and not overly sweet, just how it should be. Meat wasn't the highest quality but it was decent. My favorite pho spot in the area. Been going here since 2011.. and the broth is always consistently flavorful and delicious! I highly recommend this place. Also they give you cream puff per order and they are super satisfying!! Something I wanted to add to this review due to to all people of Yelp that are uneducated with pho cuisine and how it's prepared for takeout: When you order the combo or "special" pho or pho with the slices of steak option ... it comes with tendons, tripe, cooked fatty beef and RAW sliced flank and steak, etc. it comes RAW whether you get it dine in or takeout. When it is for dine in, it is in the bowl already raw with boiling hot broth so it cooks in an instant. For takeout, you have to reheat your broth to a boiling temperature and throw your ingredients in: soften your noodles and cook the meat. Yes, it is a hassle and inconvenience ordering pho togo and having to reheat it and put it all together but that's the trade off to enjoy your pho at home... so if convenience is what you're looking for in takeout or delivery orders, stick with pizza or fast food where you can just grub immediately. Pho isn't that. They purposely separate all ingredients for a reason and for quality reasons. If pho places just throw all the ingredients into one large take out soup container with the pho broth, y'all would be complaining and leaving one star reviews saying "all my noodles, meat, and vegetables are soggy and over cooked due to it being combined in the boiling hot broth. How dare they not separate the ingredients"... I know they recently started asking for take out orders if you want the steak meat cooked or raw (due to the bad reviews of ignorant people who don't know how pho togo arrives...) but just heads up to others if you decide to order togo pho elsewhere. This place sucks. The lid wasn't taped on my pho soup. They denied it was there fault. The soup was leaking all over move passenger seat. My car now needs to have cloth seat professionally detailed. I've tried all of the veggie pho in town, and this one is hands down the best. The broth has a great flavor (and is vegan as well, unlike the pho place across the road which uses beef broth in their veggie pho) and has lots of tofu and vegetables. Many of the pho places in the area just can't seem to make all the flavors tie together and the broth comes out either bland or overpowering, but this place gets it just right every time. It's worth noting for vegans that they serve a complimentary pastry at the beginning that has cream in it, so when they put it on your table you can just say no thanks. I frequent here, and I've never had a single issue with their food or their service. I always get speedy service and delicious pho. Strongly recommend! read more

I've gotten so used to eating pho elsewhere, that now when I came back to eat here, i realized how stinky the broth makes you smell if you splash it onto your clothes while you are slurping. I haven't noticed this quite as strongly anywhere else. They have raised their prices slightly, and are now the exact same price as Pho Tic Tac on all their sizes. I forgot how much I loved Than Bros. until I came here the other day. I probably haven't had Than Bros. in two years since I don't have a super close location to me. I happened to be in Everett and decided to give them a much needed visit! Tthis was my first time to this location. The atmosphere was not the best. The front of the dining room had boxes and boxes stacked and shoved in a good portion of the front corner. The food arrived fairly quick and the food was as flavorful as always. I had the tofu veggie. There were large pieces of carrot as well as mushrooms and Tofu. I don't remember there being as much veggies as before. I loved it. As usual the cream puff was delicious. Another thing I forgot was how fair their prices are. Some Pho places are downright expensive and mediocre at best! The last thing I love is that their Veggie Tofu has Vegetarian Broth!! Best Cheap Pho Ever! Than Brothers has to be one of the best Pho places I've ever ate at and i've been to a lot. Growing up eating pho every Sunday for the last 30+ years I like to think that i can distinguish between good vs. bad pho and Than Brothers in Everett is one of the Best! Not only is its reasonably priced, under $6 (compared to Portland, OR), but the meal includes a free cream puff, now that's what i call an Excellent deal! The decor of the place probably could use some work, but when you dive into their broth all that matters is the next spoonful. The service is fast, within 3 mins of ordering your food is served. Now, i cannot vouch for any of Than Brother's other location, since i heard bad reviews but all i know is Than Brother in Everett is one of the most authentic, delicious broth I had in years! read more

My husband and I have been customers for many years. It has always been basic but great soup. When we visited last night, immediately we knew something was different. We saw two tables full of dirty dishes and food all over the floor. For at least 20 more minutes, no one attempted to clean any of it. Only when more customers came in did anything get done about it. Not before telling those customers that they would have to wait 5 minutes when there were plenty of other tables they could have been sat at. The fish tank had filthy water. It always makes me sad to see huge fish in an inadequate sized tank. Nothing for stimulation just bare tank. The poor fish can't move. Reason enough right there to never come back. Our service was terrible served up by a teen/young adult who didn't give crap one about where the money in his pocket actually came from. He had his phone in his face most of the time we saw him. This time it took the longest time ever to get our soup and again, it has been years we have been coming. Either the place has been sold or the other people who worked there have quit/retired. They were gracious, kind and appreciative. Everything the newest people aren't. Too bad but we are no longer customers. read more

Went to this location for the first time in ages for lunch the other day and almost all the tables were taken. Seating and service were quick and parking was plentiful. Major thumbs down for the iced water with the weird tinge of nasty to it. Tea would've been nice, but I guess this place caters to a diff type of clientel. Their pho is pretty consistent with their other locations, and the portions are decent. I always go with the 'special' that has everything, but my bowl wasn't as diverse as other places and the flank pieces were mostly flavorless. Broth was tasty, but the noodles were a bit overcooked. Thumbs up for serving an adequate amount of sprouts/basil/jalepenos/lime and having a sauce plate. One thing I can't understand is everyone's infatuation with their cream puffs, or cream puffs in general (Bearded Papas, anyone?). Puff pastry loses its texture and flakiness after it cools, and when combined with a gelatinous cream, just creates a mouthful similar to a soggy sammich with too much mayo. I love Than Bros and is the only place I will eat Pho at. Best broth I've had and yes, the cream puff is part of what keeps me coming back. Pho (rather) than brothers?! Haha. When i read it I was confused, but then I realized it's owned by the Than brothers. Being from CA, I have high standards for pho, and I was a bit nervous trying it but did not disappoint! Complementary cream puffs when you order food?! That's crazy! Surprisingly the cream puffs are good. The filling was a good sweetness level and the puff was soft. I'd order more cream puffs if I wasn't already full. Pho: right when the waiter brought out my pho, I could immediately smell the aromatic pho broth with the onions and meat. The broth color was darker than what I'm used to but it was really flavorful. I could taste the beef stock and not just watered down or a bowl full of msg broth. I didn't need to put hoisin sauce, which is a good thing because it was just right. The meatballs in CA are shaped like meatballs, so it was cool to see them slice it here. I usually don't drink all the pho broth but I devoured all my pho here and a small was a great size for me because I ate everything. For $6, with great pho and low prices, I would definitely recommend this place and come back myself. Overall, my experience here exceeded my expectations. Ordered the vegetarian pho, opting out of my usual meat heavy choice. The quality of the veggies and noodle were great, though the broth was a little on the bland side... maybe due to lack of meat. Nothing some chili sauce couldn't fix though. Super quick service and good pho for the area. The cost appears to have jumped up to $7 for the large, still reasonable for downtown. Oh Than Brothers, I miss you. I've moved to NYC and despite the amazing range of food there I can't seem to find a good bowl of pho. Every visit home I make a point of stopping at Than Bros. The service is indifferent at best but the pho is great and comes in bowls big enough to bathe in. I don't know what they're doing with their broth but whatever it is, they're doin' it right. Cash only folks! We got done with the outlet mall and was starving! I suggested pho on everett mall way just because I knew the place. We decided to eat at pho than brothers. I havent been there for years! Its the first time for the kiddo and fiance. We pulled up in front of the door. The sign says open yet there were barely any cars around. The fiance asked where the other pho restaurant was. The question was brought up, probably because he judged the restaurant by its cover.. (barely any cars, looks dingy, etc) Nonetheless, we went in anyways. There was another couple there. We were seated promptly and given 3 cream puffs and the pho condiments. Ill have to say, the beans sprout and basil didnt look all too fresh, but it wasnt brownd either. We placed our order: he had the small brisket and I had the medium combo and a iced coffed in a togo cup. It all came in a timely matter, gave some to the kid and slurped up that soup asian style.. You know, that sllllluuurrrping sound. So per fiance that small was perfect and soup was good. My medium was a good size and I was stuffed. Luckily they dont sell egg rolls! Why? Because we wouldve gotten it and be painfully full. The fiance was quite surprised with the fact that they bring the coffee dripping as you ate ordeal. We havent seen that type of service in a long while. He appreciated that very much. He thought the coffee was dont right, so hes a happy camper. We enjoy this place immensely. Where else can you find a huge delicious bowl of Pho for less than $10.00? I usually get the medium size bowl ($6.50?) and it's more than plenty for me, but I do add the extra noodles sometimes. They also bring you out a cream puff before the meal, which is nice. I'm giving a 4 star because while the food is great and it arrives at your table in just a couple minutes, the service is a bit lacking with everything else. They are at your table almost immediately after you sit down asking what you want, then seem a bit upset if you don't know. I've also ordered tea and a couple other things and never got it, at least they didn't charge me. I think there is a bit of a language barrier, so the wife and I keep it simple and just order the number and the size of bowl. The pros certainly out weigh any cons. I'd recommend this place to anyone who likes Pho or wants to give it a whirl. read more
