The only thing that upsets me about this place is not enough people are talking about it. The food was excellent, the service exceptional, and the prices are absolutely incredible! We had such a wonderful dining experience here. We were really transported out of ABQ and into a brasserie in Paris. I love this place. If you are not familiar with French cuisine then this is the perfect place to experience authentic French food. My goodness I can't stop smiling thinking about this meal. I need to make another visit back again. We order the pate appetizer, escargot, French onion soup, salmon dinner, and mussels. We devoured everything. Simply amazing (and I don't say that often).

The menu is amazing, the service perfection and the space is adorable. Much of Albuquerque I found sketchy. I discovered this little slice of Paris downtown and was delighted.

This is a nice boutique French restaurant. The items are generally pretty good for Albuquerque and the service is consistently good. I wouldn't put this on par with top French restaurants in major cities, but for Albuquerque it is decent.

My experience here was so terrible that I created a Yelp account just to leave this review. To preface: my girlfriend and I are vacationing here from another state. Today was our last day and we decided to have a fancy dinner to celebrate. Upon searching "fancy restaurants in Albuquerque," Le Troquet was a frequent name. I looked up the restaurant on Yelp, which showed a 4.5/5 star rating. I thought "looks good enough for us!" A phone call was placed and they were easily able to fit us in for a 6:30 slot. Now when we finally arrived, the first red flag should've been seeing that the host/waiter/bus boy/bartender/sauté chef (they literally had this poor man doing everything like he's a Swiss Army knife) was wearing a green suit with neon green tennis shoes. I thought to myself "no biggie," but I was also met with a wave of heat. The restaurant itself was 76 degrees. Yup, 76 degrees. It was actually cooler outside. Now as my girlfriend and I are seated, we begin to ask basic questions about how the restaurant operated. Having been to many "fancy restaurants," we weren't told of it was a course type of service or anything of the sort. I asked our waiter about it, to which he responds sarcastically "do whatever makes you happy." Noted. Next, we order our salads. I'll admit, the Caesar salad wasn't too shabby. The lettuce was slightly soggy, but otherwise quite tasteful. My lovely girlfriend ordered a beet salad. Now a typical person would think that a beet salad is a salad with a bunch of diced up beets. Nope. It was a plate of maybe 5 slabs of beets with a few leafs of lettuce. She said it was still tasty, but I digress. Now the entrees came out. I ordered myself steak frites, cooked medium rare, with a side of garlic fries. When the plate was placed in front of me, the plate was cold. Further, the steak reeked of a pungent, almost rotten smell. The steak was also, you guessed it, RAW! The fries on the side looked like they ripped open a bag of Great Value fries and tossed it in the air frier. Soggy, pale, pitiful fries, such a shame. My lady ordered herself a fish dish. On the menu it sounded delightful. In person, it looked and tasted like a Kid Cuisine meal. I wish I was joking. In conclusion, the place was no where near "fancy" or "upscale." If you're looking for an actual French bistro, look elsewhere, you'll be wasting your money here. If I could give this place a 0/5 I would.

My husband and I came on a Wednesday at 6pm and we walked in to an adorable French bistro all to ourselves. It's a small space, which made the atmosphere feel cozy and romantic. Our server was very attentive and we never had to ask for water refills or for our plates to be bussed. He also recommended a type of white wine that I had never had before, and it was an excellent choice (I believe it was the Trimbach). We were served warm bread and butter to start. It tasted like it was fresh out of the oven! Then we had an endive salad and cheese/prosciutto platter as an appetizer. The salad presentation was really beautiful, and I felt like it was a perfect balance of sweet, savory, tart, and crunchy. Even my husband liked the salad, and he is not normally a fan of blue cheese. The cheese and prosciutto plate was like a charcuterie board, served with apples, walnuts, dates, grapes, and several types of cheese. It also came with crispy bread slices, better than crackers in my opinion. For our meals, my husband had the rack of lamb, and I had one of the specials, the Scallops. My meal alone was 5 stars. I love scallops, but I think I've been missing out on how a scallop should actually be cooked. These were like cutting through butter, they were so smooth and perfectly cooked. They were served with a tomato/caper type sauce, and it was just divine. My mouth is still watering thinking about it. They were served with rice, tomato, carrots, and asparagus, which were all perfectly cooked. My husband loved the lamb, and said he can't remember having a meal that good in a long time. For dessert, we got the profiterole, which is essentially a giant cream puff covered in chocolate sauce. So yummy! I had to remember we were on a nice restaurant to stop myself from licking the plate. This is a perfect restaurant for a romantic date. I would love to come again for lunch and try one of their sandwiches or other salads. We will definitely be back.

Mostly good things to say about this restaurant. Our party of 3 was there for a birthday lunch on a Sat with 12:45 reservations. Would have preferred 1pm, but were told we might feel rushed. (They close at 2pm for a few hours.) We were the only ones in the restaurant, but I know they were fully booked that evening. Wasn't as festive, but then again, it was kind of nice being the only ones there. The server did a good job. I had a salad to start. It was fine but the dressing could have been more flavorful. It was supposed to be vinaigrette, but I wasn't told it would be a creamy version so I expected something less mild. The other two shared escargot and really enjoyed it. Then, 2 of us had Hanger Steaks and one had the Salmon. All good meals. The bread was particularly tasty. Crusty and warm. My only negative comment on the food was that the creme brûlée was over-cooked and looked like scrambled eggs around the edges. So, only the center was eaten. My Chocolate Mousse, however, was very good. Maybe it was because I was told we'd feel rushed if we arrived at 1pm that made me feel like we had to move our meal along. Even felt like we might be overstaying by ordering dessert just before they closed. But it was a birthday, so we went for it. (Then I found out they were waiting on a delivery so they couldn't have left right at 2:00 anyway.) Lastly, I guess I'm used to better restaurants giving a little birthday treat to the guest of honor. Not required, of course, but a nice touch when it happens. Almost forgot...I really liked the wine. J. Lohr, cab. First red listed, rated, 5 stars. Over all, I like the restaurant and I plan on returning...several times.

    Front entrance charming.

The flies! Ruined the meal. My advice: if you walk in and see flies, leave after telling the cook why. The flies will NOT leave you alone, landing on everything. Gross. There had to be dozens in the place. I saw other diners complaining about the flies as well. My wife ate the entire meal with extra napkins covering her plate and drink ware to prevent flies from landing. Just awful. We should have left immediately. Everything else about the restaurant was outstanding. Vegetables done just right. Everything presented very well and hot. The frogs legs were absolute heaven. Fresh and lightly fried to perfection. My beef tenderloin in pastry shell was absolutely wonderful, very filet like, and some of the tenderest beef I have ever eaten. The puff pastry was buttery and delicious. We left to have dessert and coffee elsewhere. It was taxing and gross to be constantly swatting away flies! It ruined the meal and I am being generous giving it three stars. If you arrive on foot I recommend Second Ave over Third but either may have some homeless people to deal with. Charming exterior and well appointed interior. Really a gem except in our case it was ruined. Hopefully you will have better luck because the food is wonderful. I would not have blinked at $120 for food of this very high quality. But I left feeling cheated because the experience was really awful due to the flies. And the servers did not seem to know what to do about it and so were doing nothing. That gauled me as well.

I did not have a reservation, and was dining as a single, and they worked me right in to a great spot at what they called the dessert bar. From my perch, I got to see the chefs in action, which I always enjoy. The decor is very comfortable, with linen napkins, and nice size tables. Staff is very friendly and attentive, but not smothering. The menu has many choices and there were specials to choose from. The foods here have a French flair, but there are American and New Mexican style choices available.Ghere is a very nice wine list and very reasonable prices of the wines. There's a special place in my heart for meatloaf, because in our house growing up, it was a comfort food that was served every Monday. It was on the menu tonight and how could I resist? This was an outstanding presentation. I really enjoyed the green beans cut to the short lengths as shown in the picture. A little bit of lemon zest gave them some brightness. The potato wedges were done to perfection with a little bit of Browning on the outside and a very creamy inside. The meatloaf was tender and had layers of flavor in the sauce. For dessert, the brownie with ice cream on top and chocolate sauce may sound ordinary, but it was a real find. Delicate ice cream with fresh mint. The brownie was tender and had a chocolate flavor, but not overwhelming. Prices match the quality of the wonderful food in this place.

Overall: With so many recommendations to try Frenchish, I was let down by the experience. Although…read moreI appreciate a short menu and hate menus longer than a page, this menu was almost too abbreviated. Food: 3 There weren't many appetizers to choose from, so we chose deviled eggs and bread. The deviled eggs were good, but they were just deviled eggs. The bread was startling small (but made sense with the low price). Ribeye Steak with Shiitake Mushrooms: The ribeye steak was cooked medium rare as requested, but I would have preferred a thicker cut. Although it tasted fine, it was literally just a piece of meat with some mushrooms on a plate. Most places with simple entrees like this have side options, but there weren't really any besides mac & cheese or fries. Tuna Salad Nicoise: This was probably the best savory dish of the night. It had a good balance of texture and flavor. This is what I expected Frenchish to be like - simple traditional dishes done well to make for a balanced and interesting dish. Saint Sebastian Burnt Cheesecake was excellent. It was not too sweet and had the right amount of tang. The burnt top added a nice texture change and charred flavor to a light dessert. Chocolate Burrito: If you want a rich and decadent dessert, look no further. This is a crepe wrapped around vanilla bean ice cream and covered in chocolate and caramel. It is fairly sweet but the peanuts add a crunchy texture and saltiness to balance it out. Service: 3.5 The host and waitstaff were excellent. The low score is for the timing of the food. We got appetizers and the salad for the table to share, but we finished all of those long before our entrees came out. I expect restaurants like this to have better timing, particularly since it wasn't super busy that night, with entrees coming out maybe 5-10 mins after appetizers are done. Ambiance: 4 The restaurant is nice. It has lots of seating but does not feel overcrowded, and it is fairly quiet. The biggest problem is that it is hard to find parking in Nob Hill.

So its a bit awkward because there is a sign asking you not to seat yourself until you've ordered your food. It can make you feel a little anxious because if its really busy, where are you going to sit. We saw people waiting around not knowing what to do. Let me start by saying our food took way too long to come out, I even saw someone walk out because they were waiting so long on their food. I saw someone waiting for their food who sat close to us, and it turned out to be a to-go and I was like darn, that felt like they waited 20+ mins. For what they have on their menu, I feel like they should be able churn out food orders pretty quick. A couple who ordered after us, got their full food order before we I got my French toast and everyone else at our table got their food.
