I asked five time to not include onions on my patty melt. I am allergic to onions. We also asked not to include ranch in an order of fried pickles, explicitly because it would be wasted (I don't eat ranch). When I tried to call to bring this to their attention, no one answered. Their voicemail isn't set up. I am stuck with a patty melt I can't eat, ranch that is going straight into a trash bin, and a certain knowledge that if I ever go here, not inly will very reasonable requests be ignored, but that I won't have any solution to the problem when (not if) I am ignored as a customer. I am frustrated to have wasted my time and money, and also to be handed a meal I'm allergic to. Don't waste your time and money - they won't listen, won't correct a mistake, and sure as heck won't abide by your food allergies. read more

Okay if you only true random place to go eat yes it is a snack bar in a bowling alley and that has to be one of the best hot dogs I've had ever. And by the way I'm not a great hot dog lover and I would recommend this hot dog to anybody. So yes stroll on in the bowling alley walk on up to the snack bar in order your food and yes it is all fresh made so you may have a little bit of weight but not bad it is well worth it and I would recommend this to anyone. I stopped hanging at Highland Lanes at the end of the 90's. Recently this little grill inside has been getting some rave reviews for their burgers and service. I finally made it back here to give the burger a try. Yelpers are right. It is a damn good burger. 100% Angus. Fresh. Not frozen. Is it the best I've had? No. Brandon was my grill man. What a nice and pleasant man. Wish we could have chatted more. He's a certified chef and made it clear that he takes pride in his work here at Lebowski's. I asked him if he was the dude people keep talking about on Yelp and he was like "I dunno. I'm usually here all week during lunch". I ordered a cheeseburger, medium, with onion, lettuce, tomato, pickle and mustard. My standard. I have two complaints. The first is the veggies. They dice and chop on the onion and lettuce, and, the tomatoes were cut a bit too thin. Also Brandon slightly overcooked my patty, but, it was still delicious. I also got tater tots. They were nice and crunchy without the grease. Brandon suggested I try their house made jalapeno ranch for dipping. He was spot on! Perfect combo! Go here. Meet Brandon. I'm probably not the best person to review a place that just made the news for its burgers. However, my friend wanted to try it. So we did. It's the snack shop at Highland Lanes. The service was great. The guys were very nice & personable. We even got our drinks free bc it was our first visit (I think?). Anyway, it was cool. My friend ordered a cheeseburger. I had a grilled cheese. No veggie burger. Oh wait, they checked & they did have a veggie burger (chipotle & black bean burger), but my heart was set on a grilled cheese at this point. We also had fries, fried pickles (chips, not spears) & he had chili cheese tots. He said his burger was above average - great for an inexpensive burger. He said the bun was really good. My grilled cheese was fine, nothing special - just a grilled cheese. The fries were good, pickles were good and I think he liked the tots. We ordered the jalapeño ranch, but it needed a bit more kick. I'd eat here again if I was bowling. For those who like burgers, this could probably be a destination. Good, cheap burgers. Sooo this is the first time I've been to Austin in oh so many years. My better half and I decided to keep dinner simple sooo we thought we'd give Lebowski's Grill a try. Seeing as we're not from Austin, we didn't know Lebowski's was in the heart of Highland Lanes Bowling Alley. We thought well that's a good thing because we could eat then bowl. Pretty good deal right? Well 1 out of 2 isn't a bad consolation prize. The bowling alley was hosting a Young All-Stars Bowling Tournament and maaaaaan those young bowlers were on fiyah!! But I digress... the food was good but wasn't the best we've had in our lifetime. We both ordered the cheeseburger baskets with French fries. First of all, the buns were beautifully toasted in butter. The hamburger patty was seasoned well and complimented the buttery flavor of the buns. We got all the fixings on our burgers and I'm happy to say the chef added just the right amount of fixings because we've had burgers where the fixings caused the buns to be soggy. No one likes a soggy hamburger bun! Unfortunately, even though the French fries were seasoned well and had good flavor, they tasted as if they were bargain fries from the freezer aisle in a grocery store. As I said before, while these weren't the best in the world cheeseburgers, we do not have any complaints especially since we were able to watch some really awesome bowlers. read more

The greatest burgers, ranch and onion rings ever. Love this place so much and have never had anything from them I didn't love. They used to have the most amazing fried mushrooms but apparently didn't get enough orders for them to keep carrying them. Gem of a place nestled in a classic bowling alley. The Big Lewbowski is one of my favorite movies of all time, so I came in with high hopes and was not disappointed. I had a delicious greasy, jalapeño laden burger with house made salsa and crunchy tortilla strips. My girlfriend had the classic "Dude" burger. It was all SO good. Felt like I was eating out of one of those "fancy" food trucks. For the price, you can't beat it. Pair it with a cold beer from the bar to the right, and a couple rounds of bowling, and you've got the recipe for a great time. I got the burger with fries and they were both absolutely delicious. The bun on the burger is phenomenal, and from my understanding comes from a bakery near by. The meat on the burger was seasoned just as you would hope a bowling alley burger would be - hearty with no pretension. Bonus: the bar is a few feet away from the grill. We live in the neighborhood, and my wife convinced me that we should try this for lunch today based on the Yelp reviews, even though we weren't going bowling. It was totally worth it. This is probably the best bowling alley food in America, and it's a legit 4.5 out of 5 stars overall. It's simple stuff -- burgers and chicken sandwiches and corn dogs and fries and tater tots and funnel cakes -- but everything is cooked to order and it's done with so much care that it rises to the level of excellence. My wife got the burger and tots, and I got the crispy chicken sandwich and fries (you have to ask for it to be crispy). The burger holds its own as a worthwhile and unique option amongst all the other good Austin burgers. The patty had a really meaty flavor and the cheese was thoroughly melted. The tomatoes were slightly under-ripe, but oh well. The chicken sandwich was really tasty, probably around a 7 or an 8 out of 10. The batter was crispy and very well seasoned. My wife saw the chef use a meat thermometer to make sure the middle was at just the right temperature. The mustard and mayo really made the flavor pop; my only feedback would be that they were squirted right in the center of the sandwich and didn't make their way out to the edges very well. The tots were tasty, but the real star of the show here was the fries, possibly the best I've had in Austin. The texture was just perfect -- crispy on the outside, light on the inside. You can tell they have a good fryer that they keep at just the right temperature and cook them for just the right length of time. I'm not usually a fan of seasoned fries, but these were very well done: a welcome flavor, subtle and not overpowering. We'll be back, and maybe for some bowling next time! read more

So the best burger I've had in, probably, two years came from a small kitchen inside a bowling alley! I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and it was juicy, appeared to be hand formed. The bun was soft and buttery and fresh, and housed two thick cut slices of bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickle, mayo and mustard. It was everything!!!! My daughter ordered chicken fingers that were hand breaded and made fresh. The tater tots and fries were seasoned and crispy. The thing that I loved, besides the great service and food, was how he actually prepared every single thing; there was nothing sitting under a heat lamp or in a fry basket! I really tried NOT to give 5 stars here.....Really. First, yes it's in a Bowling spot. Unexpected to say the least. I kept expecting triple D to show up and have Guy walk around the corner with his signature spiky hair. This place is definitely a candidate for a spotlight like that. We ordered The Walter and the Bacon and Cheese burger with tots. Also ordered the chili-cheese fries. Um, how to describe this? I cannot find anything bad to say or even something a little annoying. I would throw these burgers up against ANY in-town. Even the $19, so called "artisan" burgers that are now so popular. Good beef, excellent BUNS baby! (Had to say that ;). Cooked well but not overly so and the fries have spice that sticks to them somehow? I mean it is a really good spice and it's stuck to the fried almost embedded in them! Glorious! Next: One of the cooks came out and asked if I liked "spicy" stuff, I replied "Hell to they yah". He brought me out some home-made Jalapeno ranch sauce for the fries. No unlike most "Jalapeno Ranch" that is really just green colored ranch dressing this was very, very good. You could taste the Jalapeno and Cilantro in it. The color was actually due to having some good damn ingredients in it. Fuhgetaboutit...if you want one of the best burgers, this is your joint. What a great group of people running this place. I really appreciate good customer service, and this is what they bring all the way! A very friendly, casual environment. I appreciate the live "entertainment" and people watching that the bowling alley provides while you eat. The food...For my first visit, I brought two hungry guys with me, and we were in the mood for burgers. They delivered! Delicious! We had a Bacon Cheeseburger, a "Dude," and a Mushroom Swiss. All were very good lookin' burgers, and served fresh and hot. No complaints here, a solid burger! I enjoyed my hot out of the grease tots, and the fries were good too. I've always thought that frozen fries can be enjoyable, and Lebowski's gets it right on by serving them as soon as they come out of the grease and topping them with a great (not too salty! thank you!) seasoning. The side of jalapeno-ranch was a nice change of pace as well, and went great on the burger. We came back again a week later for breakfast. Again, everything was served hot and fresh. We tried the breakfast tacos. I think the potatoes they use are pieces of the tater tots, which I actually really enjoyed - nice and crispy. Sausage and egg tacos were tasty as well. The salsa....although I'm not a fan of cilantro, I appreciated that it was fresh and clearly homemade. It's very mild though, so I'd appreciate the choice of one with some kick! I'm looking forward to branching out and trying some more specials. Unbelievable. We have tried the Walter Burger and the Philly Cheese-steak. The Philly Cheese-steak is the best I've ever had. Thinly sliced quality Rib-eye with a garlic mayo on a buttery roll that is just mouth watering. The burgers are also amazing. Once approaching the counter, we were greeted by the guys who made these master pieces. They were super friendly and hilarious. Definitely plenty to choose from, but I went with the Mushroom Swiss with fries and my friend picked the Cheeseburger Special with tots. Burgers were cooked perfectly. Flavors were excellent. And the fries were so good! Needless to say, the plates were clean. They make their own sauces, which are a must. Especially the jalapeño ranch. I will definitely be back. No idea how this place is rated so highly. Wonder if all these reviews are bought? Seriously confused. Visited yesterday with my son and got a couple burgers. When I went to pick the food up I saw that they had about four burgers on the grill and noticed the poor quality of meat and complete lack of care given to coking them. The patties are clearly the pre-made frozen patties that you buy in bulk. They were burnt to an absolute crisp. The bun was ok, but fairly dry, which with the burnt burger, required the burger to be doused in condiments just so I could muster to eat half of it. My son on the other hand took one bite and said that it was gross and refused to eat it. Again, no idea how this place is rated so highly. If the meat wasn't such poor quality, I might give them benefit of the doubt and wonder if this was an off day. But those patties are the stuff of nightmares (specifically the school lunch burgers I had as a kid). The fries were edible and the lady was nice. read more

This is located inside the bowling alley Highland Lanes. There is parking in front. The lunch folks are better at making the food and nicer, but the evening folks aren't bad either. Their tator tots are nice and crispy on the outside and tender potatoey on the inside. The chicken fried steak looks like cheap microwave dinner or school lunch like but it is delish and tender and cooked fresh. The gravy looked suspect but was tasty and delish.
