One of the best mom & pop Chinese restaurants I've been to in the Bay. My friend & I came in for lunch and ordered the bbq fried rice, beef & broccoli, Salt & Pepper fish and the honey walnut shrimp. Service was great. They were fast and friendly when taking our order and even offered their own recommendations of dishes to try out, but we ended up picking out the food we were craving in that moment. Bbq pork fried rice, Salt & Pepper fish, Beef & Broccoli & Honey walnut shrimp were all hits. . They have really good portion sizes where it's enough to share with multiple people. The owners were really friendly to us and felt like we were eating at a family friend's house. I'm always in the mood for Chinese food, so I was happy to find this spot on Yelp. I stopped in solo for lunch and the place was nearly empty, just one other table taken. Like many American-Chinese restaurants I've visited, there was an older woman at the counter and the decor felt frozen in time. I ordered a lunch special that came with soup. The egg drop corn soup wasn't piping hot but still tasted great. I enjoyed the small bowl, and my main dish arrived soon after: a generous portion of fried rice with string bean chicken, served on a classic Corelle Country Cottage plate. The server, who I assume was the owner, said "Doesn't it look delicious?" as she set it down. It did, almost. The string beans were overcooked and limp instead of crisp, and parts of the rice were a bit dry. Unfortunately this is my first and last time eating here. I've had several people rave about Lee's Kitchen and as a fellow Chinese food lover people are shocked that I haven't tried it. Friday March 6th was the night we ordered the walnut prawns, Mongolian beef, chicken chow mein, shrimp friend wantons, and the bbq pork fried rice. Walking in it was busy, we saw 3 people ahead of us waiting for Togo orders and another couple happily eating their meal. The place looked legit, hole in the wall mom n pop shop. When we arrived home I had to let the phone eat first as everything look amazing and couldn't wait to dive! But when we tried the fried wontons they didn't even have a tablespoon of filling, it was just fried wonton wrapper with a dime size of filling was the first flag... I happily kept eating and just used it like a vessel to shove into my mouth like chips and salsa. The next red flag was digging into the Mongolian beef it was off.. the color of the meat, the taste but I couldn't put my finger on it. My wife didn't want anything to do with it so I happily kept eating. Come Saturday morning to use the rest room, I felt clammy, upset stomach and threw up all of my dinner from the night before, let's just say it was coming out of both ends. I had a 102 fever, shakes, heat flash, stomach hurt, slept all day and didn't eat a thing until Sunday afternoon which I had toast. All signs point to food poisoning, as I am writing this I am still in bed with horrible food poisoning and this is the last place I had an actual meal. I'm sorry Lee's Kitchen I really was rooting for you since you're a stone throws away from my house. But I'm not risking 3+ day of food poisoning to eat your food. If you've been here before and haven't had an issue keep on keepin on I ain't going to tell you how you to eat your Chinese food but first timers just be on your guard for off colored meats and stay away from the won tons, they're sad-tons. Lee's Kitchen is serving up Chinese favorites with generous portions, fair prices and friendly service! I was in the area, and decided to give this place a try. It's located in a shopping plaza with a Petco, at El Camino Real & Bowers Ave in Santa Clara. I ordered Beef Chow Fun to-go. I was told it would take 10-15 mins because they were very busy. You can also eat there, as they have several tables. The decor is nothing fancy, but the place is clean and well lit. The Beef Chow Fun was very good, especially fresh from the kitchen. It was a large serving for $13.50, enough to feed two people. If you expect big strips of beef, you won't get it at Lee's Kitchen. The beef was in small bite sized pieces. I really wanted hot and sour soup so I searched up the closes Chinese restaurant to me and Lee's popped up. I came in and decided to order the dinner A option for two people..which was only $30 and it consisted of fried rice, chow mein, sweet and sour pork, and egg foo young! What a great deal! I also got a hot and sour soup. I really enjoyed everything I ordered except for the sweet and sour pork. They put too many bell peppers and celery. No problem though..next time I'll just ask for less bell peppers and no celery. The hot and sour soup was delicious! When I took my first sip I was like WOW WOW WOW. I came here exhausted and hungry during the week. I dined in, and it seems like it's not too common for people to dine in. The owners seemed happy to see someone dine in. We noticed there were many to go orders. They are so nice and quick to serve. If you're not sure what to order there is a wall of pictures with dishes of the "favorites". The food was good. We had the dinner for two option #2 Chow mein, sweet and sour pork, fried rice, fried prawns We ordered a side of egg rolls My favorite was the fried rice -- I am not a big fan of fried rice-- but this one was pretty good. Prices are basic for the Bay Area. It's a good place for when you just want to get in and eat and get out without distractions and noise. It's quiet so it's easy to have conversation. It's perfect for if you're alone or a couple. Since they are popular with take out you can always order ahead. I found Lee's Kitchen on Yelp because I was searching for a Chinese food place that offered party trays for my son's birthday party. I love that this is a family run restaurant and that they've been open for years. Having worked with them for our party needs, I can see why they've been open for as long as they have. You can order your party trays in one of two ways: stopping by the store in person or giving them a call. Their party tray prices are reasonable and competitive with other stores in the area, and depend on the tray size. If you order in store (which is what we ended up doing since we haven't been to the restaurant before prior to placing this order), they have a price list with some common party tray dishes and their prices. They can also customize things that are not on the party tray menu (ie. if you want something from their regular menu turned into a party tray size/portion). We paid a small deposit after placing our party tray order, and came back a few days before the party to pay the remaining balance. They typically open on Saturday at 11:30am. Even though our party was on a Saturday at 10am (early for Chinese food, I know), they were willing to have the party trays ready for pick up by 10am. I left my parents' name as the pick-up person, since my husband and I would be busy with hosting the party. Come the day of the party, the food was ready as promised at 10am, and my parents had no issues with picking up the order. We ordered their: yang chow fried rice, chicken chow mein, mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken, and vegetable combination party trays. Each dish arrived to the venue nice and hot. Each dish had a lot of good flavor and wasn't overly salty or oily. We were pleasantly surprised that the meat dishes weren't full of "fillers" (ie. veggies, sauce, etc). There was literally tons of meat. We had some guests who are allergic to nuts, and the restaurant confirmed that they use vegetable oil only. Their party tray portions were so much that my husband and I had food for the entire week after the party. This is after we packed some food for some of the guests to take home. We may be a bit tired of Chinese food for now, but we definitely plan to be back and highly recommend Lee's Kitchen for everyone's party food needs! Parking is easy and plentiful. This is a location that I have frequent in the past. Usually the food is decent for the price range and I have no complaints. The service was fast and I got Mongolian Beef with a side of rice. The beef wasn't great. It was very bland despite it says it's spicy and did not see any chili peppers in the dish. Also, it had a ton of large chunks of barely cooked celery. I saw this restaurant had plenty of good reviews, so decided to give it a try. Ordered chicken fried rice, Mongolian beef and sweet&sour prawns. The fried rice smelled gamey, and only had small pieces of old roasted chicken thighs tossed in - no addition of vegetables or eggs as most places do. The sweet&sour prawns were small shrimps heavily coated to look big. It seems the oil they were fried in was old and had a bitter taste. The only decent item was the Mongolian beef. The portion sizes were larger than most places. That, along with the decent beef is why I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of one. Oh, what a day. We were having sewer lateral work done at our house and decided to escape for a day and night. Using points, I found a hotel that accepted dogs and booked a room in Santa Clara. As we were leaving the house, I noticed that one of my tires was badly worn on one side. We had just taken a road trip, and a pre-trip inspection showed that we had about 5,000 miles of tread left. After some discussion, we decided to replace all four tires and get it over with, cutting into our time down in Santa Clara. So instead of checking in and then going around to explore places to eat, we decided to grab some food and take it to our hotel room. We wanted something simple and easy. Yelp took us to Lee's Kitchen. It's located in a shopping center with mostly Asian businesses. Lee's itself is pretty unassuming, Glass front, dining at the front, order counter in the middle, kitchen in the back. I had a craving for Chow Fun so I ordered: House Boss Chow Fun - 3 - The best way to make Chow Fun is with fresh fun that has never been refrigerated. Once it's gone into the fridge, the noodles then do get really firm and stick together. There are a couple of techniques to soften and separate the noodles, but they involve using hot water and this also changes the texture. Noodles that are not refrigerated will quickly go bad and become unusable. The chow fun here, had it been made with fresh noodles probably would have been a 5* experience. Unfortunately, they were a little clumpy in places and firm in others. However, the beef was tender, the shrimp were cooked perfectly, the chicken and bbq pork added flavor. I like to use Hot Chinese Mustard when I'm having Dry-Fried Chow Fun and that really upped the flavors. Salt and Pepper Pork Chops - 4 - Not particularly Salty nor Peppery, yet still very good to eat. Chinese Chicken Salad - 4 - This was an easy 4, on the cusp of 5. It probably would have worked better had we had it in restaurant instead of having to drive to our hotel. Presented in a large take-out box with its flaps open, the heat from the chicken wilted the lettuce a bit. Didn't cook it but changed the texture. The flavors were still on point. We would order it again. We're going to assume that this is a family run restaurant, mom, dad and son. They were all very friendly and personable. While we were waiting for our order, I brought our dog to the front of the restaurant and introduced her to the son, who also has a dog at home. read more

We ordered two lunch specials and and received about one tablespoon of sweet and sour pork with the fried rice and chow mein. The last three meat dishes ordered two was full of onions with very little beef and the beef broccoli had a lot of broccoli with very little beef. For a recent Lunar New Year event that my company was hosting, I worked with May to do a large catering order for about 40-50 individuals. Let's just say it was a good start to the new year. Everybody at our event really enjoyed the dishes. Folks really enjoyed the Chicken Broccoli and Chicken Chow Mein, while I was able to order a vegan friendly vegetable fried rice along with mixed veggies and bean curd. My only issue is that the food was rather salty and drenched in sauce, so I would ask to reduce that amount if you are able. Portions were extremely generous and for the catering prices, you really cannot go wrong with Lee's Kitchen. The only concern I had was the eventual price difference when it came to final payment. My colleague went to pick up the food and the price was slightly higher than what we had discussed. It was a minor issue with the tax amount, but the actual dish items matched what was discussed. Not a huge issue, but important to make sure the price is accurate before payment. In addition, they offer a printed itemized receipt which was much appreciated for my company's expenditure reconciliation. I am very grateful to have worked with Lee's Kitchen for our event and would recommend them to others looking for large party trays for very affordable prices.
