Someone needs to check to see if these people actually have licenses. I went in for an upper lip and chin wax and walked out literally saying "wtf just happened to me?" The lady who did my wax slathered wax all over my face like she was buttering bread. I have scabs on my face from where she ripped my skin off during the process. She also made me leave my mask on and just pull it up/down while she waxed the area. Had to throw the mask away afterwards as there was wax all over it. I have you used this spa before so decided to stop in for a much-needed pedicure and manicure. Before starting my service I went to use the restroom but to my disappointment there were live bugs in there that look like they have been recently sprayed. I told Thomas,my tech, about the bugs when I got back to the pedicure chair but he looked at me like he had no idea what I was saying, smiled and asked me what color I wanted my nails. Of course before I set down I checked in and around the chair for bugs as well as in the tub. I felt like things are crawling on me the whole time which made the experience very unpleasant. Why don't the technicians clean their workspace between clients? There are nail shavings and stuff all over the table, floor, and equipment; it's pretty unsanitary right? Oh well. read more

I decided to try a nail salon closer to my home. This spot is less than ten minutes from me. Upon entering the establishment, I was greeted right away by the staff. It is a big spot. In the back there us full set up of private rooms for waxing, massages, etc along with numerous pedicure stations. In the front the utilize half the salon for nails. The other part looks like it's for hair but not in use. I was impressed by the wide variety of gel polish colors. I had Elaine who did a great job on both my hands and feet. However I did feel a little rushed at the end. Atmosphere was cool. But they are pricey. I did not get the ratchet treatment or feeling like read in other reviews, but observing some of the staff, I could believe it. All in all my nails were done well. I just paid $90 for a fucking basic manicure and pedicure with gel only on my nails and a design. First off, I was presented with a sign that says it would be $32 for a pedicure. Manicure would be 18$ extra. $40 just for using gel polish and 15$ for design. None of this sound right. The prices aren't even adding up. I've been coming here for years and have never paid $90 for everything. I had to be presented to a new nail tech because the first one didn't know how to do a basic French manicure!!!! Was glad because 1st lady was rough as hell, pulling my arms. The pandemic has made everyone money hungry I see. They even have a sign saying you can get a free lotion for free. I received a warm greeting, felt very relaxed in the separate area where pedicures are done, and liked how my toes looked afterwards. She did a great job with the length and shape (tapered) that I asked for. She was timely without sacrificing quality. The salon is very spacious. I loved the atmosphere of the salon. There are signs posted asking customers to keep themselves and their phones quiet. Everyone there abided by the rule making for an enjoyable and relaxing experience. So I don't get my nails done too often but I've decided to start treating myself. I called last minute to see if they had the availability and they did. I didn't wait long at all which was great. The salon looked clean enough and they had a good selection of colors. However, the positives stop there. The quality of service was not there. The nail tech wasn't super friendly. She was impatient with soaking off the gel polish (which I paid $5 extra for the soak off) she ending up picking, scraping, and filing the gel that didn't soak off. She wasn't paying attention to how she was filing my nails either. I had to tell her that she needed to shape them more. Then the polish... I don't think the pictures do it justice. They have bubbles in them. There was polish on my skin. My curious have polish on them. It's uneven. For $35 my nails should look a whole lot better than this. I asked her to fix a few things but gave up. I won't be coming back. Perhaps if I was a regular I would have received different service. read more

Well, I did it to myself. Given the pandemic, I haven't treated myself to a pedicure in a while. The prices are on the higher side, however, the customer service and work does not match the prices. A basic pedicure is $36. The " special pedicure" is $43, it involves callous remover, a scrub, a mask .. no massage,.. the other two pedicures on the list are $60 and $70. I didn't bother to read the details of those two. Overall, the experience was overwhelming and overpriced. If you don't mind overpriced pedicures with mediocre work, this is your place. read more

A full set is $35 and a fill in is $25...I had to get 2 nail repairs (i was told $5 for two nails one day and once i got there it was $5 dollars for each). Got my nails filled on 4/25. 4 days later one popped off. 4-5 nails were also lifting. Went back today (4/30) to get them fixed and as i go to leave the owner tells me i need to pay half. He stated they only guarantee a fill to last a week. And because I was almost at a week, I needed to pay at least something for getting my nails fixed. Unbelievable. I loved this place and have sent sooo many friends and family here. But after this, I will never return. I'm not happy at the way I was greeted upon entering this establishment. The receptionist was extremely RUDE to me. They close at 8pm I called about 35 minutes before closing so they were expecting me. I've never felt so ignored in my life. The language barrier is horrible and it's unbelievable. This is really the only place I trust in Bowie. Sure their priced a little on the high side, but I have always been a pleased customer. Great relaxing atmosphere, and CLEAN! (Something I seem to struggle to find around my way). I have gotten a standard mani + pedi. The people are generally friendly and don't have endless convo's to other tech's shouting all over the place in 50 different languages (no shade, but sometimes that drives me crazy). It's kind of in a odd location if your not familiar with the Bowie area. Other than slightly high prices and one time I had a lady that basically told me that I needed to get my eyebrows done (um, excuse me i'm not hairy. My GFs and I came here for 3 pedicure and 1 gel fill-in. We were greeted at the door by the receptionist and she scrambled around to see who could service us. I was less than thrilled with her attitude about us arriving 1 hour prior to closing. I was escorted to the back for service and while the tech was removing my polish, the receptionist came back to change my technician. Smh...she gave a long excuse as to why. Upside: Tee did an awesome job on my pedicure! She was engaging and pretty funny! GF#1 technician however was strictly work. He never said one word! My GF found his behavior kinda rude. GF #2 was not completely pleased with the rude gestures her technician would make when she wanted her to do something. She would prefer her to verbally tell her as opposed to making hand gestures. I was visiting the area and decided to get my nails, feet and eyelashes done. My nails and feet were ok up until just now one of the nails is coming off. just got them done on April 11, 2019 not to mention today is only April 17th, 2019. So back to the eyelash situation. when I was there on April 11th the eyelash lady name dawn had left early do to a family emergency however, was told she does a good job. I was then asked to come back another day which was that Friday at 12 noon my lunch break. I go there and of course she was working on another customer. She then called me in the back and did my lashes less then 15 minutes the glue was not even dry before she was finish. so the next morning I looked in the mirror and almost all of the right eye lashes had fallen out. so I went back again that morning Saturday and she did them over. Needless to say on that Sunday almost both eyelashes had fallen out plus I paid $45 for the set. That was not worth $45. Seva at Walmart charges $25 -$35 and does a better job then these people they should be charging $20 I would not refer anyone and I will not be returning back ever. read more

The care I received is mixed at best with a very relaxing environment and comfortable chairs for my pedicure. The rest is hit or miss depending on who is serving you. I don't like that they don't give me the time to soak my feet. I understand weekends are busy but on a Tuesday morning, there is no traffic. Why can't I soak? And why do they use a file you could sharpen your lawnmower blades with to file my nails. They end up hurting my skin so even after I complain, theyre at it again. I know there is no sound in space. But is that where we are? No, we're in a shop where sound travels. The whole bait & switch is really clouded in communications where the server ask you what level pedicure you want, then during the actual pedicure ask if you want an item (not included) as if it was part of the level of pedicure already agreed upon. I'm there to enjoy a pedicure, not have to check my mental receipt. All i can say is buyer beware, or do what I'm doing; find a better nail shop. read more

Rude, rude, rude! I wish I could give this place zero stars. I've waited two days to write a review because i was so mad at being treated so rudely. On Wednesday, January 12th, I walked in, asked if I could get Axxium polish (there are signs up everywhere in the salon) the receptionist said, "yeah but these (pointing to some other brand I've never heard of on the wall) are better." I'm thinking, okay whatever, I'll try that one, and go to choose my polish. When I told the tech I wanted a different color tip, like a french but not pure white and that I just wanted clear on the base he said, "one color is better" to which I politely replied, "well, my nails grow really quick and if i have this color on for 2-3 weeks, the new growth really shows with all one color nail" I didn't notice at the time but looking back now, he was a little huffy about it already. Then, when I explained that I didn't want a manicure, just a polish, he said something that sounded not-too-friendly to a co-worker in a foreign language. I ignore it and sit down at his station anyway. He proceeds to filing my nails into a strange shape- angled like this / \ on the sides and perfectly straight across the top. I asked him to not file them like that, that I like them to be a more squared/rounded shape, to which he replied, "you want French. This is how French look" I then said, "I just want the tip a different color, I don't like that shape" He said "It has to be that way" to which I replied "I've never had it that way before and I get them done like this all the time. If you have to make them that shape, I'll go somewhere else." He then told me, "go somewhere else" and threw his tools down. I was shocked! I pay someone to do my nails and to do them my way. They are my nails. If you are not in the business to give your clients what they ask for, why is this your business? The place is spacious and looks clean and classy but the staff was nasty and didn't even try to give me what I was paying for. read more

This place is the WORST when it comes to customer service. I went a while ago and had a bad experience. That should have been a sign but I took my friend's recommendation to go to Angel. I didn't have a problem with her at first. She is very popular with the local residents so she only accepts appointments but will continue to take waxings while she makes you wait. When you question her about the delay she gets super sensitive and loud. Do not waste your time nor money on Lee's and especially on Angel!!!!! Very clean place, i went in for a pedicure and the staff was very friendly informing me on prices..i went for the basic $30 pedicure package and i couldn't be happier. I had tammy she was nice and friendly but spoke limited english but she gave off a very friendly warm vibe :) . This place is dirty, they don't sanitize their intstruments at all. I don't want dirty implements used on me. The other thing, they get pushy about waxing. I know for a fact that in Maryland manicurists are not licensed to wax, only hairdressers and facialists. I asked to see where they wax you and they showed me, there was dirty used stick in the wax pot. Yuk! I told them no thanks. This is why I never get waxed at these nail joints. I'm never coming back. I came here once prior to this experience to get my eyebrows done and was amazed of the lady of the cell phone not serving me then once done my eyebrows was amazing. But the employees are the worst. I then came this time with a friend with hesitation to get a pedicure and it was going well at first then my pedicurist just walked off before finishing then I had to wait 15 minutes to get a nail design this is ridiculous.
