What a great place!! Visited on Valentines Day by myself and sat at the bar. Was greeted by Mike & Janette and quickly got a drink. The place was very busy due to the holiday but everyone was friendly and struck up conversations with other people at the bar. Had to try the stuffed clams and they tasted great. Then tried raw clams (Little Necks) and they were sweet and delicate tasting. Raw clams if not done right can have a chemical taste but these were fresh and perfect. To continue the clam fest ended with linguine with red clam sauce. Personally would have like more garlic but that is my preference and the dish as served had plenty of clams and was the perfect portion size. Next time I am in NYC will go back to Lenny's as the food was great and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. read more

One of the perks of Howard Beach being only a few minutes from JFK is that got can get an authentic Italian meal without ever needing to go to Manhattan. Overall a very good seafood restaurant. Fresh Calamari and baked clams is a must order for appetizers. Could easily be 5 star if the clam sauce was more flavorful and not so watery. Street parking is a bit difficult on weekends and valet parking lot is very limited. read more

Service and ambiance is great! I had mussels marinara as appetizer. It was very good with delicious well seasoned sauce. The linguini with white clam sauce was disappointing. Sauce tasted like unsalted and unseasoned pasta water. No evidence of olive oil was present visually or by taste. Lots of salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper couldn't save it! First time dining here. Came in for lunch, was very quiet. Was seated right away Wasn't impressed, maybe it's was just to early in the day? Our waitress didn't seem happy at all, my daughter who serves at Prime restaurant was truly unhappy with the way she treated us. Ordered the fried calamari which was undone, wasn't fried to perfection. Chewy just wasn't the best The full baby back ribs was actually huge, came with a baked potato, then a Lenny's special, which came with a salad. Generous portions. The clams had what seems like Sand, I kept chewing it. Seems like it wasn't wash properly. The dessert was definitely the best brownie I've ever had, really. We flew in for a funeral and we're staying at the Hilton near JFK so we decided to have dinner in Howard Beach. This was our first time to Howard Beach so I left the dinner pick to my wife. She picked Lenny's Clam Bar and we weren't disappointed. We started with the clams casino and then she had the Crab Cake special and I had the soft shell crab special. Everything was good and the restaurant has that old Italian vibe. We split the Tiramisu for dessert and a pair of cappuccinos. All in all we recommend Lenny's especially if you like large portions. read more

Every year I fly in from California and Lenny's is always on my to do list! The Stuffed shrimp is delicious and plenty, shrimp cocktail you only get 3 shrimps but there very large and filling, you have to have the clams duh! Baked or raw are perfection for sure! If you order a pasta dish share it's enough and get some clams you will leave stuffed! They do have valet parking, if weather is nice sit outside, I've never had to wait for long on a table. It can get a bit chilly inside but I don't mind at all. A little pricey but you get plenty if you want to share, really I think the price is about average for all the seafood you get in a dish. You can dress up if you want but jeans and a nice top is good. Finish your meal off with a cappuccino and dessert if your able too, lol I'll be there tonight to try a steak for the first time! read more

I forgot how good Lenny's Clam Bar actually is as we visited for dinner only because we were picking up some folks from JFK during the evening rush hour at 5:30. Getting in NYC at 5:30 is easily a 1+ hour traffic jam and everyone was already hungry. Lenny's was only 15 minutes from JFK driving local streets. Best decision ever as we reunited with Dave (no need to ask for "Joe"-haha) who's been here forever. We ordered a dozen of the baked top neck clams, fried calamari, shrimp and scallops trio, an order of linguine in white clam sauce and a bottle of Italian red. Everything was excellent. Clams were fresh, sweet and garlicky. Fried seafood was not greasy whatsoever and the linguine was all dente. Finished with a half dozen mini cannoli and cappuccino. The cappuccinos were a little light and Dave brought us some espresso shots to tighten them up by us just pointing to the cappuccinos. Service like that in 2024 is unheard of. Dave also did not ask us for a 40% tip like some places do now in Manhattan (uh, Per Se, we're alluding to your totally outrageous behavior!). A local classic, I hope Lenny's is here forever. We have to get back here more often. Thank you Dave and Lenny's for a perfect dinner. read more

Pulled up on a Saturday morning before 12 and they were set up to serve drinks pulled over as a passenger in someone else's car of course because I'm against drinking and driving and ask them to make me a cocktail All seemed well until their cocktail machine broke down they went inside to make me a cocktail and apparently they forgot the liquor Being the lush that I am I asked them to put extra liquor on top and the person who took it inside looked to the person who was trying to make it outside and said did you put the liquor she shook her head yes and I drove off with a virgin drink for $15 and it sucked. We went early (4PM)to avoid the crowds and it's a good thing because by 5 we couldn't hear each other at the same table. I ordered the captain's platter because of the is a seafood restaurant but you couldn't tell that from my meal. The shrimp was overcooked and rubbery, the filet of sole was moist but tasteless, the only good thing was the scallops. The rice we substituted for the potatoes were tasteless even after adding salt, pepper and butter. The broiled filet of sole and the filet of sole oregano were equally tasteless. The calamari was just ok. The only good item from our 7 orders was the ribs. They have valet parking but it's a small lot and street parking is hard to find. The chocolate cake was good as was the Oreo crumble. Service was slow but they had many tables. Not a place I'm going back to. read more

If you're someone who loves a Cajun style seafood boil with a noticeable kick, the hot Cap't Loui sauce absolutely delivers without sacrificing flavor. Another thing I appreciate is that they provide branded plastic bibs and gloves, which makes the whole experience much less messy and lets you fully enjoy the meal. The restaurant tables were also decorated with cute seafood-themed paper tablecloth to keep everything clean as well. The service was just as impressive as the food. Everyone was attentive, and everything, from the drinks to the chowder to the boil, came out surprisingly fast. This is easily one of my favorite places when I'm craving a seafood boil, and I'll definitely be back again.

I live in New Jersey, and I knew that if I didn't eat somewhere near the airport, I was probably not going to eat at all that night. We ordered papa a la huancaína, a tamal, and leche de tigre, and the total came to about $48, which Its affordable by the area standards. Peruvian food is not necessarily cheap, so my issue was not mainly the price. My issue was the quality and the care behind the food. Its important to note here I am Peruvian, so I say this with real knowledge of the cuisine and with disappointment, not malice. The papa a la huancaína came with about four or five potato pieces, half an egg, one lettuce leaf, and no olive. Quantity-wise, the potatoes were fine, but the sauce told the whole story. It barely tasted like ají amarillo, and the flavor felt muted and commercial, like it was made more for cost control than for enjoyment. Huancaína sauce should have character, richness, and that unmistakable Peruvian flavor. This one felt flat. The tamal was decent in flavor, so I will give credit there, but it had only one slice of pork, no egg, and very little ají. It was a good size, but still did not feel worth the price. Again, it felt like the ingredients were being stretched too far. The most disappointing item was the leche de tigre. This is a dish that deserves much more respect because for many people, ceviche and related dishes are among the most recognized parts of Peruvian cuisine. This preparation did not feel delicate or authentic. It tasted like corners were cut. As someone who knows Peruvian food and has worked in restaurants before, I understand that using enough lime to properly prepare fish is expensive in the U.S. But that is exactly the point: if you are going to serve this dish, then do it right. If not, don't present it as something special. $21 for this? Honestly, I felt CHEATED. What frustrated me most is that this restaurant clearly has potential. The decor is nice, ready for selfies and Instagram pictures; you can tell effort was put into the presentation of the space. But to me, it felt like more attention went into ambiance than into the food itself. My impression was that the restaurant is aimed more at people who are not very familiar with Peruvian food and may accept a more mediocre version of it. For someone who truly knows and loves Peruvian cuisine, this was disappointing. I've had much better Peruvian food in less polished places in New Jersey, especially in Paterson. The decor at Mixtura may be prettier, but the food I had there was, at best, low-end mediocre. I ate it because I was hungry and it was late, and I appreciate that they were open when I needed a meal. But I would not go back, even in the same situation again. If you are Peruvian or very familiar with authentic Peruvian food, this may not be the place for you. If you are simply craving something nearby and are not especially focused on authenticity or quality, then maybe it will work for you. But for me, this is a one-time visit only. Sorry, its a NO-GO for a second visit.

(I prefer chicken, pineapple, and artichoke on my pizza.) But I also shared a plain slice with my hubby and loved it. And, of course, I needed extra sauce, which was gladly provided and seemed to have a tiny kick to it. I wish Yelp offered half stars, because I truly would have given this review 4.5 stars. Since it doesn't, and hubby, the pizza king, declared it a 5-star pizza, I upped my grading. The pizza really is good with a thin and crispy crust. Service is fast and efficient, and somewhat friendly. A regular slice is $3.75 and toppings are an additional charge. But be warned, it's a cash only establishment.

PROS- The Bruschetta, atmoshphere CONS- Parasite in with the Oysters, Food portions, Food not fresh, Rude management, poorly cooked calamari, lame attempt at sangria. This is an compilation of 3 or 4 attempts at trying this place out with friends. The atmosphere is nice. I like the choice of tile for flooring, the mural on the wall and the black raw iron railing separating the ground level from the slightly elevated ground level. They serve bruschetta immediately which is absolutely delicious with fresh crisp tomatoes. That's were it stops. 2 times the calamari was served like rubber. I took a date here one of those times, got rubber calamari, sent it back for a new batch and it came back just as rubbery. (she was covering her mouth as she tried to chew herself to death) Ordered a "20 oz bone in Black Angus" Rib Eye which I'd be speaking generous if I were to say it was 14oz and over cooked. They put Orange Juice in their sangria, so it's not really sangria, it's wine punch. Another time I came with a few couples, the place was crowded so they sat us in the back room (which is their overflow area) We ordered raw oysters and luckily my friend saw a parasite doing the backstroke in the ice water before the ladies did. I quickly covered the wiggly guy with a wedge of lemon before he was discovered and screams/vomiting was ensued (Clean your freakin shellfish before serving !). We then ordered their snow crab legs. I believe there were six halves served on each plate. On my plate 3 were fresh and delicious, the other 3 were slightly grey and had that texture and taste of being frozen. toward the end of our meal, since the front room was no longer crowded and we were the last table occupied in the back room, they started to clean up the back room and shut it down. Apparently annoyed with us, the manager that night (a short grumpy looking white haired man) stood in the doorway of that back room and glared at us like a warden as if we were an inconvenience holding up the closing of the back room. (even though we were spending $300 plus that night there). Wish I would have come here back in the 80s when it was suppose to have been good. I think people just like to come here to feel like goodfellas (which is a joke, because goodfellas don't eat at bad restaurants) or just because the photos in the front with celebrities coming here (again back in the 80s when it was good) giving an illusion that it's a place stars would eat at. As an Italian American, there is not one dish on this menu that I can't stop off a supermarket spend a couple bucks and cook 10 times if not 20 times better than the junk they're serving you. Been coming here for so long and always had a wonderful experience until last time. I like to go once a month (at minimum) for a dinner date with my mother and just love when Ang is our waitress but this time we had Dave and if i ever go back and he is our waiter I will be asking for a new one. Besides the fact he wasn't as friendly as I could appreciate I could look past that. The real issue was once the bill came which was around $98 I paid it but when I looked back at it I saw and mentioned out loud to my mother that he charged us for a glass of Pinot that my mother took one sip of. I noticed it because it was the last listed item. My mother wasn't happy and went to the manager just to ask why that was and just a few moments later Dave gives me a bill and says you shouldn't of said anything because I didn't charge you for the whiskey sour but now i have to then he hands me the new more expensive bill as he laughs under his breath. He was completely rude about and there was no discretion it was as if it was payback because he thought we tried to get him in trouble by going straight to the manager. It gets better , I sign the new recite and thought my boyfriend left a tip in cash but he was so angry with how Dave handled the situation he felt he deserved nothing. I agreed but thought he threw something down. Dave chases us down outside for "A signature" that i already left. I knew he was just super eager for a tip he really didn't deserve so I gave him the recite back and along with $10. As i handed this to him I told him I felt he was extremely rude and unprofessional with how he came back to the table to give me the new bill. He was extremely on the defense, did not let me get one word in , he literally talked over me and was blowing me off telling me how he got in trouble with his boss and stood there yelling NO , NO , NO , NO I wasn't rude. Best part is he didn't even say thank you for the tip as he walked inside rolling his eyes at me. If I could do anything different it would be to give him no tip and call him a A-Hole in front of the entire restaurant to embarrass him the way he embarrassed me that night in front of my mother and boyfriend. The people that come to this place and give it five stars are suffering from mass delusion. The take out place across the street (Brother's) serves better food. I feel obligated to put up this review to warn other yelpers about this place. I went here with a friend only because it was a Monday and my usual haunt near JFK (Saffron) is closed on Mondays. My friend was flying out of JFK at 9 PM so we decided to preposition ourselves. I figured, okay, this place has good yelp reviews, etc., let's check it out. What a mistake! This place claims to be a seafood place, so we ordered seafood. I ordered the salmon and another fish special. The salmon was listed as "seared," and I specifically asked if it is served rare. The waittress said that indeed it is seared. I figured alright, this will be the good stuff. Well, the salmon came and it was beyond well done. It was so far overcooked it was basically inedible. The other fish we ordered was some kind of fish special. The fish was battered, fried and tasteless. The sauce it came in was reasonable, but I would not describe it to be good. All of the other aspects of the place were poor as well. The service was slow. The salads were, "meh." The bread was, "meh." The free bruschetta, was, well, you get what you pay for. I would never go back to this place. That being said, it's not awful, so I give it two stars. Steer clear yelpers! There are far better places to go and eat in the 11414 area. read more

Lenny's has long been a staple in Howard Beach, known for its welcoming, family-style atmosphere and consistent presence in the neighborhood. After not visiting for a while, I recently took my family for dinner and was reminded of its charm. The valet service was courteous, and the interior maintained its warm, inviting feel, making it a comfortable place to dine. However, one noticeable change since my last visit was the significant price increase--likely due to inflation, but still something to consider when dining out. For our meal, we ordered the Chicken Parm and the Grand Hawaiian Skirt Steak. The steak, which I requested medium, arrived rare--so undercooked that it was visibly bloody. While I still ate it, I found it much more enjoyable the next day after microwaving and cooking it further. The pineapple salsa was a nice touch, but the overall execution of the dish fell short. As for the Chicken Parmesan, it was standard--nothing particularly remarkable or memorable. Overall, while Lenny's offers a comfortable and familiar dining experience, the food did not stand out enough to make me eager to return, especially with so many other dining options in Howard Beach. OMG my wife and I took a well worth it ride over the Bridge to Lenny's on this warm summer evening to go taste more of our dear friend Joe's culinary marvels, wow was it good, my wife started with the fresh mozzarella and tomato, I had my usual mussels in sweet sauce, OMG our favorite waitress Mindy brought us extra bread for dipping, she also brought out on the house bruschetta, which was unbelievable, but back to those mussels, perfect then onto main courses, I always say I'm gonna get something different, but can't miss the Shrimp stuffed with crab, it's the best seafood dish I've ever had, my wife ordered Linguine with sausage peppers and onions over it, as much as I loved mine, I couldn't keep my fork out of hers, Mindy bless her soul brought out more bread, after that phenomenal spread we were invited to coffee and dessert, I had the apple pie with vanilla ice cream, my wife had the fried ice cream, requested Mindy to bring me out a couch for a nap, that she could not do, what a beautiful meal, great atmosphere, Joes the best host anywhere, the vibe at 10PM is amazing, just a great night read more

Place is a staple of Howard Beach, has been here all of my life. The owner Joe, I would say is there about 75-90% of the time. The motto there is "Ask for Joe". He's a great guy, friendly and always willing to accept some criticism if need be. The entry is lined with photo's of Joe and celebrities, athletes, and a who's who of past diners. So could you hate the place? probably not! They bring some nice bread and butter to the table upon arrival but the real treat is the bruschetta bread. All the appetizers are quite delicious but the entree's are where the fun begins. You can't possibility pick a bad one. From the fishes to the Italian fare or maybe their FAMOUS baby back ribs in BBQ sauce. We have held many events at this restaurant and whether it's 10-15 people or 50 people it's always accommodated and wonderful. The private room in the back over looking the water is private and nice. Just be sure to reserve it for a larger party. They run some great promo's during the end of the year and beginning of the new year for all you can eat ribs and such. read more

Nastiest food ever!! Decided to come here after leaving a family wake. I used to dine here back in the day 20 years ago and it was great place with great food. It's Still a nice place but the food Is disgusting. To start.....We ordered the baked clams which totally sucked!! Tasted like frozen Costco clams except these had the nastiest after taste that I couldn't get rid even after sucking on a lemon. The Salad with ranch dressing.....the dressing was drowning the salad and it was terrible. Next came the Seafood marinara, ...the worst I've ever eaten in my 50 years of life on this earth. Chef boy r dee makes a better marinara sauce and the seafood must have come from the local bait store down the street. Couldnt eat it.....the worst!! My stomach felt so violated that I was compelled to write this review or call the police to report my taste buds were violated! Dirty filthy place bad waitstaff we had a party there it was very gaudy roaches and mice running around ,we had a waitress we couldn't understand she sounded like a man her name was Angela she was dirty and smelled from cigarettes we had hair in our food and she was more interested in smoking then caring for her tables , my husbands food came out wrong twice they couldn't make a steak to save there lives 3x it had to go back what part of medium rare don't you understand? I believe a waiter and waitress should smile and be happy they have a job the food was cold not worth the trip if I was you I would stay far away from this place ! I know I will another tip for all you restaurant goers check out the reviews on Nyc health departments web site and see what violations the restaurant your going to eat at has that's what I should of done before going to this dump. Far from good haven't been there in a while somehow they still have the same shity waitress and she stunk from cigarettes I couldn't hear a word she was saying and she couldn't get the order right ! I ordered a few appetizers which I never got. And when I finally got my dinner it was cold I was very upset as well as my guests if I ever go back hopefully I'll get someone who cares about the customer and the establishment they work in. I give Lenny's a bad rating to to the bad service and the non caring for the customer. All I can say get some professional workers and I'm sure your business will improve dramatically! Been a customer for about 4 years and am very rarely disappointed. Have gone there for lunch and dinner. Wait staff is always pleasant - especially some of the old timers. When they have their roll back prices, it is an awesome deal. I usually order the seafood dish for 2 over pasta with a lobster tail and it is a more than good size dish. I've ordered the skirt steak a few times but like the pasta dish better. Order a pitcher of soda and it saves you a lot of money. They have 3 dining rooms and it can get noisy but based on the size of the place, it's to be expected. The Italian cheesecake is also very good. read more

I am still reeling from eating disgusting food. Have ordered multiple times and enjoyed the different meals. Somehow my recent order was a disaster. Potatoes (boiled were not baked) were extremely salty. Tomato sauce tasted like cheap tomato paste out of a can. Sauce was very sweet and extra mushy. One would expect fresh tomato sauce and not serve that disgusting canned mess. The prices aren't cheap so shouldn't taste like a pizza shop meal. There is no other deserving place for this meal but the garbage. Sorry for the honest negative review but maybe quality checking is needed. read more

I was extremely disappointed. I ordered stuffed mushrooms for $10.00. Idk what type of stuffing or whatever that was but it was terrible. Like soggy bread mushed in a mushroom cap. Then the salad was very clearly not washed. The dressing was chunky and just oily. Then the surf and turf dish was just.... the lobster was just over breaded and the surface was very mushy. I had my Bridal shower there, it was so disgusting I was so embarresed the linens and the cheese shakers had cockroaches in them .Roaches were crawling on my future aunt i thought I was going to die!!!!!!!!!! I went to Lenny's Clam Bar for dinner. I left my leather jacket on the chair. When I got home I called the restaurant and spoke to the waitress. She told me she put the jacket upstairs behind a counter. When I returned that same night she told me one of the workers saw the jacket and its gone.It was my fault for leaving the jacket on the chair. i recently visited Lenny's over the past week I was very happy with both the food and service. i ordered the baked clams and shrimp scampi. They we're both delicious. I definitely will be returning. The small spumoni was a half scoop each of strawberry, chocolate, and pistachio ice cream. Not the official spumoni roll that I expected. The place was very packed and kind of noisy. The one thing that was noticeably lacking was the service. While it was efficient and fast there was no cordiality, it was just perfunctuary (no smiles, no kind words, nothing). Despite this, we would definitely recommend the restaurant because the pizza was excellent. We also welcomed the 20% lunch discount on the food. The bill was $30.57 for the pizza, ice cream, tax, and tip.
