I of course used Yelp to find a good diner on my drive from New Brunswick to Atlantic City. I found Broad Street located in Keyport not far from the Garden State Parkway. It's your "classic" diner which has that 1950's vibe with the exterior and interior decor. Elvis paraphernalia is featured here. They had a busy lunch crowd. I sat at the counter and ordered a McCaffrey Wrap which comes with grilled chicken, bacon, cheddar jack cheese, lettuce, tomato and honey mustard. It was really good. The side of sweet potato fries were crispy and seasoned just right. The staff were courteous and the service quick. There is a small parking lot that can accommodate about five cars. There was plenty of on street parking. The downtown area was nice and you can take a nice walk after dining here to the waterfront.

The manager came and apologized but it was the worst food experience ever. We paid the $300 dollars and threw out our food than risk further sickness with their side of frozen vegetables. Only thing decent was the fresh lobster my mom ate and the hot dogs the kids ate. NEVER AGAIN. Repeatedly serving bad and stinky, not fresh seafood that makes guests sick and gave me food poisoning is a reason they should have health inspector come and one for us to never return.

You have got to visit Lenora's Café. This place gets crowded fast, on Sunday's especially ... but with good reason... their food is AMAZING! WONDERFUL! The service is always friendly and the vibe is youthful and casual, with just the right amount of conversational noise. Don't know what the reviewer, Gavin, is talking about. He must have visited a different place ... Lenora's is THE place to visit in Keyport! The behavior of Lenora and her staff is CONSISTENTLY friendly, helpful and kind. An employee, who appeared to be the manager on duty (as she was older and seemed to be overseeing the shift), attempted to kill the roach. When she grabbed it with a napkin, the roach fell onto the table. The employee then killed the roach and disinfected the table. However, this same employee had taken my order and continued handling service immediately after the incident. The food was served, but none of it was consumed due to the health concern. There was one other younger employee present, but they were not involved in the incident. Camera footage should confirm this event, as it would show the employee killing something on the wall during this time. Due to the seriousness of the situation, I also contacted the Health Department to report this incident.

The tostones were bland and a bit too greasy. I added salt and dipped them in the beans. (I'm PR and we add salt as soon as the fried plantains come out the fryer so that it sticks or serve it with mojo). Tostones do not taste good bland. I may go again and try some different items, skip the tostones and make sure that I get my black beans. I'll update this review depending on my experience when I return.
