This was hands-down one of the worst experiences I've had with a hostess--ever. From the second we arrived (after waiting 50 minutes in the heat), she was rude, dismissive, and clearly irritated. She told us our table was being cleaned and we were next. We watched the table being reset for three and figured, okay--great. But when we politely asked if we could be seated as the table looked ready, she snapped that it wasn't for us and immediately gave it to a party that had just walked up. When we tried to clarify--again, politely--she got defensive, denied saying anything about the table, and hit us with a power trip: "I'm the one in control," and told us she did not appreciate us speaking to the other hostess (who was actually the only helpful person we spoke to). That colleague kindly offered to seat us inside while we waited, just to get us out of the sun. Our waitress later and food was also fantastic--the only reason this review isn't one star. The same hostess when seating us said, "You need to be out in an hour," with a tone that was so unnecessarily nasty. I've worked in hospitality--I know how hard the job can be but this is was someone who flat-out should not be working in a guest-facing role. read more

Service and ambiance are great. Very nice place to sit and relax. The food is great, but would probably pass on the pastries. The breakfast burrito is very simple but still delicious, shakshuka and the bread it is served with are great, but red bell pepper heavy. Huevos rancheros were really good, as well as the side of tater tots. We also got hummus and pita which was really good. I didn't like the avocado toast but the people I was with enjoyed it. Mornings and afternoons at Leora are absolutely amazing and pleasant. It definitely attracts a crowd and they have all the trendy drinks and treats you'd want in LA, but actually great quality. And the full food menu is incredible. If you come just for a treat or small bite, or for a full meal, you'll be really satisfied. You can't go wrong. But let me just say, the DINNERRRR!! They're discontinuing it after tomorrow (so sad) but I'm so grateful I experienced it. I came for my birthday and we enjoyed every second. Our server, Bryan, made the entire dinner so lovely. He was kind and helpful and made sure that everything I ate was safe with my dietary allergies. He really knew his stuff and I'm grateful he was looking out for me. The chefs at Leora are careless and negligent. This was the worst service I have ever experienced and I'm never coming back here again. I ordered a breakfast burrito with no bacon, and it arrived with bacon so I sent it back to the kitchen. It happens sometimes! Management was kind enough to give a free cookie. But again when the replacement burrito came, it once again, HAD BACON IN IT. At this point I was hungry and annoyed to the point where I wanted to change what I ordered and leave. My friends were all already done eating. I changed my order to a Caesar salad with no meat. My order came, I took it to go and checked that they got the order correct - it looked right. Once I got home I opened my Caesar salad to find out IT HAD PIECES OF BACON IN IT. This menu does not say this salad has bacon, and I explicitly said in my order for the salad I did not want any meat. I have never had anything like this happen to me at a restaurant before and I never want to come back here again. It takes talent for the kitchen mess up this badly THREE TIMES the same way, and once in a dish that isn't supposed to have bacon in it in the first place!! read more

They've become very popular lately, which is great to see, but unfortunately, the space is just too small for the growing crowd. Every time we come, the wait time is way too long and doesn't seem to make sense. We were so excited to try Leora for Sunday brunch but overall it was a major disappointment. To start, the patio is way too small for the amount of tables and people they try to cram in there. Half the table we were seated at was in the sun, and it was way too hot to sit there comfortably. We were quickly dismissed by the hostess when I asked to move to one of the open tables inside. We decided to stick it out because we were excited to try the food, but we should have trusted our instincts and left. Half the food came out before my drink even arrived and multiple times we had to ask the server to clear food off the small table so we could make room for more plates. Most critically, one of the guests in my party has a dairy allergy, so she ordered the Israeli salad because it did not have cheese listed as one of the ingredients on the menu. The waitress also did not ask if anyone at the table had any allergies, but we didn't think to mention it because it's not listed on the menu. To our surprise, the dish arrived covered in cheese. We explained to the waitress why the dish hadn't been eaten and she asked if we wanted something else but at that point we just wanted to get out of the sun and pay the bill. She offered up olive oil cake to rectify this but retracted the offer after confirming all of pastries contain dairy. She didn't offer to take the salad off the bill or comp any of our other food or drinks so we paid for a dish she couldn't eat. While the other dishes were fine, they were not enough to make up for the service and ambiance. read more

Love this place!!! Fresh, quality ingredients cooked super well. Staff is so friendly as well. My only sadness is they recently changed their bone broth - it used to be super clean and tasty and full of collagen. My skin would glow after. Now the broth is a yellow color, not as gelatinous, and very oily. It was so oily that the oil actually seeped through the entire takeout bowl. I have had to throw it away twice. A little delayed in this post, but...I was happy to learn Leora had opened for dinner service. My friend and I came for a glass of wine and a "lite" bite. Well... we simply loved this place. The entire Staff were really lovely, and helpful in helping us our decision, and everything we shared was simply delicious. And of course we ended up order a bottle of Rose (it was a beautiful 70 degree evening) along with several items to share. It's been nearly a month, and I'm still thinking of the stuffed Zucchini! Horrible horrible horrible. Do not come here. Such a shame this place went down the toilet. When they first opened I came here and loved it, the owner was nice, the service was good, and the food was great. I came back only to be severely disappointed. What a shame truly I'm saddened by the lack of competence the employees have. Matcha spilled all over the counter, throwing peoples take out orders over the matcha. My father asked the lady to wipe the counter as matcha stains people's clothes and items. She simply ignored and showed her incompetence. When my order comes she purposely throws my food over the puddle matcha, the bag is now dripping wet, I asked one of the employees to wipe it when she rudely throws a takeaway utensil at me and says there's a napkin in there wipe it yourself. At this point I'm shocked. Everyone around me is shocked. There's no way these people were hired off of any qualifications. Never ever again. The owners response shows zero accountability and instead tries to call me a racist when I'm ethnic myself. Please do better Leora. Instead of apologizing like other business owners and holding accountability there's a level of entitlement and victimization from the owner. Her 'great staff' is more insulting than my review and instead of reporting bad reviews to Yelp she should spend that time and energy into fixing her business and creating better connections with her guests, especially locals like myself. Thought I'd see some accountability for once but was rather faced with even more disappointment.
