It's been open for well over a year by now, and I'm still not sure what to make of this low profile cafe fringed conspicuously by dangling pink wisteria around its roof. It appears to be close in spirit to the nearby Dento Piano Bar, a workplace cafe by day and a piano bar in the evening (review: https://yelp.to/DntOvv8am2). From what I can tell walking by, Les Deux Amis has a similar dual identity as a hidden oasis by day and a wine bar in the evening. I came in just once several months ago for a $4 cup of Mint Tea (Photo 8). As the only customer, I certainly felt the solitude of the place. I finally returned just recently when I saw they expanded their cafe menu beyond pastries to croissant sandwiches, a shared cheese and charcuterie board, hummus and olives, and a signature item, flatbread pizza. This time, there were two more customers both preoccupied with their laptops and iPods for conferencing. I was drawn to the flatbreads in particular since they offered a surprisingly robust list of toppings. You can build your own, but I just went with the $13 Mushroom with Truffle Oil Specialty Flatbread (Photo 10). It was quite a delicious creation at the right price. To go with the cheesy, chewy bites, I ordered the $6.50 Mission Refresher, an aptly named glass of iced sparkling water infused with a sweet hibiscus juice (Photo 9). Now I have a solid reason to return. My friends and I were excited to try this place out. I came to meet her, and my first impression was how cute the place was. Luckily we were surprised that we were the only ones there while a guy had ordered takeout. We were standing in front of the counter looking at the menu. While we were looking at the menu, it seemed like a delivery person came in with some of the café's ingredients. The way the owner of the cafe shop spoke to us while my friend and I were standing there didn't feel polite. Instead of saying something like, "Excuse me, could you please move for a moment?" Then again she said something like, "Can you not stand here?" To my friend. It felt like we were inconveniencing her. I felt like she could have simply said, "May you please move? I have some inventory coming in." I didn't like the way she was acting toward us. Then once she placed her cafe items away she said, "Can I help you?" in a tone that didn't feel welcoming. She asked us to move closer to the counter so rude and that's when I decided to speak up. I politely asked her if she was having a bad day. She said no. Then I told her that it seemed like she was being rude to us and that she could have asked us politely to move since she had inventory coming in. I also told her that I didn't feel comfortable with her attitude and the way she handled customer service, so we wouldn't continue ordering there. She simply said "okay" and didn't apologize. I have always walked by this location and I finally decided to give it a try! I want to comment the woman running the floor on a busy afternoon. She had 7 drink orders ahead of mine and let me know that she would call me up to place my order. When I did place my order I got the strawberry matcha which is seasonal. But I was definitely eyeing the pastries as well especially that cheese danish. As far as the matcha goes it was yummy ! They make their strawberry puree/syrup in house and it was so refreshing to have actual fresh little cut up bites of strawberry in my drink. I finally got the chance to grab coffee here and stay for a while. Les Deux Amis is a great spot to get some work done or catch up with friends. There's a food number of tables as well as wifi and I really enjoyed the flat white I got. One of our friends stopped by and tried the pepperoni and sausage pizza as well which was yummy. Love that there's a great neighborhood coffee shop now that's a treat to sit in. Will definitely be coming here again for work from home days. read more

Super warm, really good balance of mushrooms and cheese. The crust was really crunchy and light. The server even provided cheese and red pepper! + Butterfly Pea Latte (3/5) I ordered their seasonal latte. It felt a bit gimmicky and tasted a bit watered down. a 3-month new cafe, it's not in the greatest area but is absolutely beautiful inside! the staff was so friendly and shared with me the various wine tasting events they host. the cafe was perfect for doing some light work, and there's free wifi. I went early in the morning for an ocean beach latte ($6.50) and almond croissant (sourced from starter bakery). the ocean beach latte was a butterfly pea matcha latte and I adored the flavor combination! for the almond croissant, I loved the almond topping and the paste wasn't sickly sweet, but the croissant itself was pretty soft and chewy instead of being light and flaky read more

Oh a bakery with fresh pastries in the no where land. Bakery goods and cafe by day and wine bar by night. You can't miss it, there is decorations of dangling flowers in the front. Today I tried the ube mochi muffin (yes purple) with Shredded Coconut. Not much ube flavor except for the color. It was fluffy, not dense. And the Crufin. Together they cost over $12. Credit or debit card only. No cash. I was eyeing the flourless chocolate slice and I couldn't resist. It was delicious. Big chocolate covered strawberry on top. Very dense and yet crumbly. Very chocolate. Made my day! They sold out of banana bread. The pastries come from Cafe Madeleine. Beautiful place to hang out. There's a cherry blossom tree in the courtyard in front. I work nearby and am so grateful for this new(ish) addition to the area. Sometimes my job requires me to sit down and write a lot of thank you notes (what a job, right?) and Les Deux Amis is the perfect place for it. I have only been there during the day, and had coffee, an almond croissant, and some on another day a truffle flatbread. The people who work there are beautiful and actually care about your experience. The coffee is delicious. My flatbread was weird and terrible and...I do not know what happened. I feel certain that had I mentioned it a remedy would have occurred. I did not mention it though (it was a bit undercooked, lacked any truffle flavor, and was weirdly bitter). I truly believe it was just a bad and unusual experience. The place is really relaxing and welcoming, especially for the neighborhood. I want this place to succeed. Cute new cafe in SoMa. A little pricey but the ambience is really nice with modern deco and some photogenic moments. I was going to try the chocolate croissant but they ran out at the time. Popular! I tried iced vanilla latte and it tastes good. They seem to offer some quick lunch/happy hour food, too, like cheese board and personal sized pizzas.
