One of my go to study spot before exams because of the outlets and spaciousness. During the school year this place tends to be packed but I've never had a problem finding a seat, especially after they opened up the second floor. This place also tends to be quiet (ambient conversations) and the workers don't judge you for camping out all day. When we come at night we typically park at the parking in front of the wells fargo across the street or in the neighborhood behind the building. Parking might take some time during the day but isn't too bad. I usually get a tea or a Vietnamese iced coffee (extra condensed milk and 2 shots is perfect). read more

I visited this place a couple years back and I did enjoy it plenty. Today I visited for the first time in a while and I did not receive the friendliest service (which I can understand sometimes). It seemed like there were just one or two employees, so I want to believe they were busy. But I did feel uncomfortable just asking a simple question like asking for the bathroom code. They were just rude about it. I simply said thank you and proceeded with my day. The food was okay. The restrooms were very dirty. I do believe is a good place to study and get work done though. Lived in Hillcrest 2018-2019 and this was one of my favorite spots so when I was in town just this past week I had to visit. Ordered the Peppermint Patty and a chocolate scone! The barista was cute, so obvious plus and he offered to heat up my scone and made a delicious iced coffee. I'll start with the things I like. They have a ton of seating with a lot of outlets and fast WiFi so it's great for being productive. The overall place is very dirty. Especially the men's restroom. I've given them a few chances and have tried a few things like Vietnamese coffee, horchata latte and a couple of other things but wasn't impressed with anything. It was either too sweet or watery. There's nothing wrong with another Lestat's opening up in San Diego because they provide some good coffee and eats. This particular location is much larger the rest and has that same semi eclectic appeal. For breakfast, I had the California Croissant which came with fluffy eggs, crispy bacon, red pepper, tender mushroom, onions, avocado, and zesty pepper Jack cheese on a toasted croissant. The eggs were well cooked and seasoned. The bacon was delicious and gave the breakfast sandwich a great texture. Both the red peppers and mushrooms were tender but with a little bite and tasted great in the sandwich. One thing I was disappointed with was the ripeness or lack of, of the avocados. They were not fully ripe. Some of the pieces were still hard and uneatable so I removed them. The rest of the pieces were just right. I was a little dumbfounded with this because who ever sliced them should of felt their resistance and knew they were not ready. Anywho, overall it still was a delicious breakfast sandwich. Downstairs has an impressive range of seating options, but upstairs is where the magic is. Low-key, good tunes, tons of outlets, and great wifi. There are also breakout rooms for groups. I love this place! It's got plenty of seating where it seems a lot of people like to work. They have a very extensive menu with so many different teas which I appreciate as a tea drinker. The Fiery Horchata Coldbrew was only available in medium according to the barista although the menu board clearly states that it's available in small as well. The food and drinks were good! The BLAT sandwich was bomb and smoothies are a good go-to for a drink there. The staff is nice and attentive. A really big space with lots of people all the time (I went from 10pm-4am) The place wasn't exactly clean. The table and booth we sat at was pretty sticky. However, when we told the staff they were friendly and wiped it down immediately. Their WiFi isn't the best probably due to the large amount of people studying here. Parking sucks around here but it's Hillcrest so what do you expect ‍ One thing I didn't like is that it's in between bars/clubs so you can hear the music from the club through the walls if you're on the left side of the cafe. read more

Lestat's offers 24-hour convenience. This location, however, has some major inconveniences: * A purchase is required to stay. * It's cold as hell! You can probably store your milk and butter in here. The drinks are pretty good and the drink menu is pretty much, if not entirely, the same as in other locations. This location is around the same size as the Park Blvd. location, so it's not surprising it has more pastry options than the Adams Ave. location. The pastries mostly taste...adequate. There are also kitchen-made items, which I prefer over the pastries, but are nonetheless overpriced. The residents and visitors of Hillcrest tend to have big personalities, so expect more distractions if you intend to study here. There are also adjacent clubs and bars, so at closing time, it gets rowdy outside as the clubbers and bar hoppers leave en masse. Considering that all three locations are nearby, I'd drive to another location (my favorite being the Park Blvd. one). read more

The Lestat's location in Hillcrest is by far the largest of three storefronts here in San Diego! Nestled in between two clubs, each barista and shift lead flawlessly executes the day-to-day. The music style, décor, and environment downstairs is fast-paced, but a great area to sit down, people watch, or even to get some study time (there's even an upstairs usually open in the afternoon!). I've been a customer of this place for a long time . Usually , the food is good , internet strong and the cashiers are friendly. Tonight : weak to internet , cash only (why?) maybe their network is not working . My $10 salad took 30 minutes to be made and when I got it , it was the most disappointing salad I've gotten from this place .
