A couple of disclaimers. First, most of the recent 5-star reviews about this place are about their brunch. I went there for a late lunch around 3pm on a Saturday. Second, among the non-brunch 5-star reviews, people talk about their pizza. Unfortunately, I didn't try it. Third, people talk about their cocktails. I didn't have any of these either. So, this review is about the rest of the menu. Let's start with the service. Our server was nice, but the wait was a bit long just to take our order. One part of the problem is that they seem to have plenty of people who function as hostesses, and a good number of people who are waiting in the wings to bus tables. But in terms of servers who actually take food orders, well, there are a significantly smaller number of those. But the service was not the reason for giving this place just 3 stars. The problem is the food. The food isn't horrible, but it's not 5-star worthy either. The stuffed pretzels sounded great on the menu, and they looked great when they arrived. But the moment you cut into them, you realize that they're actually significantly resistant to being cut. The texture of the dough was gummy, and the taste was bland. We ordered the Liberty Burger, and it was okay. The fries were very good, but the burger itself was nothing memorable. The Cavatelli Al Forno was good, but it was a bit heavy on the salt. I kind of knew it while I was there because I drank a lot more water than I normally do at restaurants. But I didn't realize how salty it was until I returned home and a few hours later at some as leftovers. Then it was so salty that I immediately threw out the rest of it. One thing I never considered is the effect that noise has on taste. The place was noisy because it was crowded. And so because of that maybe it's tough to strike the right balance between adding enough salt to make the food taste great in a noisy environment while still tasting good when the noise level is lower. Finally, we arrive at the restrooms. With as many people clearing tables as there were, one of them should have been deployed to routinely clean the restrooms. To be honest, the urinals looked like they had been used by multiple people suffering from major hand tremors. To be fair, if you're looking for a place to go and get buzzed and have some bar food, this place will do just fine. And pretty much everyone else who was there looked like they were drinking a wide variety of beers and cocktails, so for the social aspect this place might be what you're looking for. But if your focus is on the food, then my suggestion is to try their pizza. The people at tables around us all ordered them, and those pizzas looked good. Again, the food here isn't terrible. But after seeing the cumulative 4.5-star rating of this place, I expected more. read more

Tried for the first time after seeing on a Phantom Gourmet episode - as advertised - the stuffed pretzels were delish, crispy on outside and gooey on the inside but the bottom could have been a bit less "burnt"...the salmon bowl was a thing of beauty as the fish was generously-sized and cooked to perfection w/ beautiful vegetable sides garnished to a T! The Liberty Burger was also cooked perfectly and really delish with seasoning! Altho not on the menu, we asked for truffle oil tater tots and man, did the kitchen do it up! as soon as the dish hit the table you could smell the truffle scent and the abundance of tots was enuff to feed a village! Our server, Laura F, topped it all off w/ her unprecedented service w/ a smile! - she treated us as a long-time n'hood regular the second she arrived at the table...her table- timing was spot on and it's quite obvious she loves people and a passion for service...Liberty Tavern will be added to our "GoTo" list of local restaurants! Pizza hits every single time! The drinks and beer selection are also pretty varied so there's definitely something for everyone to choose from. I've only been on Friday nights and it does get pretty crowded but the servers are always attentive and have good recommendations on what to order as well! read more

First time at this spot was on one of the busiest nights of the year on Valentine's Day. So I give grace, that said I was really disappointed in Management more than anything. The food was decent, a few dishes were cold and both my fish plates were undercooked. We sent the salmon back and they were able to recook. Now for the fish and chip the middle was undercooked. After two bites I couldn't eat anymore. But before I get to the outcome of that, I should have expected and known what I was going to be dealing with from Management. Before ordering our food we ordered soda, unfortunately the machine was out and it was syrup. My waitress who was very nice , explained to me her manager tried it and said it was fine. Lol - sorry it's not. Fast forward to the meal, as I said both fish dishes were undercooked. I choose not to send the haddock back. When I asked to speak to a manager Nicole the manager came over and from the start her vibe was very stand off ish. I told her my issue, and explained I was unable to eat it and based on eating slimy fish I didn't want another plate. She grabbed the plate , came back 2 minutes lasted and proceeded to tell me the cook said it was cooked. I was so disappointed. We went to Liberty Tavern for brunch and it was great. It is a kid friendly spot that gave our little one crayons and a menu to color on. Lots of TVs to catch the game. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The food came out quick before our little one started to get impatient. The fried chicken sandwich was decent and I loved their crispy fries. Walked in on a late Saturday afternoon and immediately got seated for 3. I like that they had a charity cocktail but I wasn't a big fan of the flavor. It was tequila and coconut with cranberry garnish. We got the tater tots poutine and spinach and artichoke dip with crispy pita. They were good and filling. read more

Stopped in recently, and honestly, the place was just okay. The fries came out overcooked--too dark and crunchy, almost like they'd been forgotten in the fryer. Not the worst I've had, but definitely not good. The bartenders weren't exactly attentive either; it took a while to get a drink even though the bar wasn't that busy. The food overall was fine, nothing special, but not enough to make me want to rush back. On top of that, I've heard a few locals say the owner's a Trump supporter, which doesn't exactly help the vibe for me. All I can say is... Liberty Tavern FTW!! *Ok, I can say more than that... but if you don't want to read more, just take that one liner to the bank. My wife & I headed here for brunch on New Year's Eve. It's got a great "classy but informal" atmosphere that I really like. It was essentially split into a bar area with multiple TV's playing sports, to a more intimate section with no screens but a good amount of tables. There's also a really cool view into the kitchen where you can see their big fancy oven. The service was perfect - our waitress was very kind, attentive and knew the menu very well. My wife and I both got different Benedicts (Ham & Eggs Benedict, and Truffalo Chicken Benny, respectively). Both were beyond tasty and were the perfect portion for brunch. I'm not sure when we'll be back there... but I told my wife I wanted to try to make a point to, as there are several things on the menu I still want to try. A great experience overall!! read more

I really enjoyed Liberty Tavern. I was in town for work and stopped in to watch some March Madness games two different nights. The service was very good and staff were very friendly. The food was really good. I had the wings the first night and they were delicious! Fresh and juicy with a ton of flavor. The second night I had the Gold Fever pizza and it was really good. Stopped by on a Friday for their lunch menu and got the burger with fries and the Brussel sprout appetizer. The Brussels had a great sesame vinaigrette sauce and crispy bacon on them and were cooked well. The burger had Carmelized onions and a nice aioli that made it very tasty. The burger was a little on the greasy side but still was really good. The service was attentive and the vibe was really casual. I unfortunately was witness to one of the most unprofessional, unpleasant, interactions between a customer and both the staff and then even the manager! The manager replied and spoke to the customer in such a degrading, and completely unhelpful way that I almost intervened myself on this woman's behalf because I could not believe what my ears were hearing and my eyes were seeing. I strongly urge you to replace the manager AASAP. I'm sure only more customers will be dissatisfied and possibly hurt in feelings if they ever visit your tavern while this manager is working there. I had just come in from vacation the night before, and the only breakfast food I still had was Eggo waffles. I didn't even have milk for my coffee! With this, I decided to venture out for brunch, get some food in me, and then stuff my fridge. I decided on finally making it into Liberty Tavern and ordered a Southern Fried Breakfast Sandwich. When the dish was brought out, I first bit into the hash browns. When McDonald's has better hash browns (likely shipped frozen from HQ), the restaurant needs to do some major-league introspection. These things lacked any kind of notable crispness, and I'd even go so far as to call them mushy. Kind of like they boiled par-boiled them and threw them on the skillet for 27 seconds. Okay, fine. Maybe the sandwich would have some redeeming qualities? Alas, these also were in short supply. The cheese, scrambled egg, and hot honey get honorable mentions for attempting to uplift this disgrace, but in the holistic sense, no dice. The breading on the breast was uninspired and underseasoned, and the chicken itself was, depending on thickness, either dry or borderline parched. The biscuit didn't do much to help the overall mouthfeel either. I do want to give them a try as a later-in-the-day option, but one thing's for sure: I will be seeking other places for when my day starts late enough to go for brunch. read more

Came here with 4 other folks for the Pats game on Sunday. We had a 3:30 PM reservation for the 4:25 game. Our waitress, Becca, was fast, friendly and checked in the perfect number of times. We all probably had 4-6 drinks per person and our drinks were never empty more than a minute or two (and sometimes not at all) and there Becca would be to check-in. 5 star service for sure! There are a good number of tvs to catch the game. My only suggestion there would be to get rid of the board advertising brunch and put another large screen there. If you're facing that direction, you can only kinda see the tvs above the bar. Facing the other direction is a great view. Get rid of the blackboard. We don't need to know what time brunch is if we're already in the restaurant. Ha! I had the poke bowl as my meal. It was a decent portion and everything was fresh. The only downside was that the rice was crispy, which I don't like. When I asked Becca about it she said they could make me new (uncrispy) rice. They had it out in no time and it made for a much better meal. Beyond that, street parking was easy on a Sunday afternoon and the atmosphere was great for the game. I called it ! Liberty has certainly earned its spot as a trustworthy Quincy gem. I was in recently and had an amazing lunch experience with my sister. The short rib grilled cheese was excellent as was the gold fever pizza. Can't go wrong here folks. The staff are friendly and helpful if you are between meal choices. Big fan for brunch and for dinner! Fun sports bar vibe with some big flavors and definite talent in the kitchen. The menu isn't long but it is carefully crafted to ensure whatever you order is actually a good choice! They are doing a good job with social distancing, online menus, and other COVID precautions while still providing an efficient dining experience and great quality food. I would definitely recommend the truffalo chicken and waffles for breakfast and the pizzas are great for dinner--I tried the prosciutto burratta and truffalo chicken pizzas and really liked both! If ordering for one person, one pizza is a little bigger than a personal pizza size so you'll probably have leftovers (score!). They also have a good list of local beers and creative cocktails that change periodically so you can keep coming back to try new ones! read more

This place isn't bad. I've been here several times since they've opened for brunch, lunch and dinner. Unfortunately, its been hit or miss, so it's always a surprise which one you're going to get. I've had the fish & chips, truffalo mac & cheese, and grilled chicken sandwich which were all good. Nothing bad, but nothing great about them either. My favorite thing I've had from here so far are the Liberty Wings. The spice rub is just right - very flavorful, but not hot/spicy. The dipping sauce is great and I love the way they did the carrots and celery rubbed with some kind of herb mix. I've never had them like that before and I really liked them. I've also had the sweet potato pulled pork hash, which had a very over-powering mustard flavor. It tasted like someone accidentally put double or triple the amount that is supposed to be there. I couldn't finish eating it as the mustard flavor was too much. I've also had the truffalo chicken benny which was great, however the hash browns it came with were served barely warm and some were almost cold - yikes, very unpleasant. My friends ordered a pizza one time which looked delicious but I didn't taste it. I would suggest giving this place a try if you're into taking risks and hopefully you'll get a "hit" rather than a "miss!" read more

This place has good amount of tables & TVs. The windows open which is a nice option when nice day out for fresh air. The food & service were ok. I am not sure why people are giving this place 5 stars as I don't think they really deserve it. Ordering avocado toast ended up being nothing special, the white bread was underwhelming as well as the flavor being a bit bland. This review is for my several visits to Liberty Tavern. I've been to Liberty Tavern several times and the food just doesn't seem to disappoint. Always delicious but the restaurant can get very loud, not ideal if you're looking for a romantic or quiet date. Atmosphere 3/5 - Seems like every time I visit this restaurant, it can get very loud! If it's not other guests chatting, it's the music. I'm always forced to speak louder or yell even though the person is right across from me. On our last visit (Britney Spears vs Christina Aguilera brunch), we could not enjoy the music because it was just too loud. Food 5/5 - Always delicious. Mini Mac Sliders, Brussel Sprouts, and the Pizzas are all delicious and usually our go-to on the menu. The Breakfast Poutine was the best item we ordered during our brunch visit! This place was delicious!! I was visiting family from Florida and they took us to liberty tavern for dinner & I thoroughly enjoyed it. We had dinner reservations for 7 P.M. and we got there around 650. They seated us immediately and the waiter took our drink orders within 5 minutes of being seated, despite it being a busy Saturday night! Great service and even greater food. Was craving pizza and found this place nearby on Yelp. Super chill, casual bar/restaurant if you're in the mood for pizza and drinks! They have other things on the menu as well but we ordered pizzas and the tater tot poutine for an app. The poutine was really yummy~ can't go wrong with tater tots, and the pulled pork was great on top too. We also enjoyed the pizzas, the crust was delicious! Between the Hawaiian and Truffalo (truffle/buffalo chicken) my favorite was the Truffalo. I love Hawaiian pizza but this one was just ok for me~ it definitely wasn't the best I've ever had. The Truffalo on the other hand was unique. The truffle was SO delicious, the only thing I could've gone without was the bleu cheese they added on it~ it didn't need it. Still great though! Overall really enjoyed this place and would highly recommend if you're looking for a casual American spot. read more

The vibe in here was cool and dark, nice place for hanging with a group of friends or for a date night. The best thing we had was the sliders by far, they had an aioli and a fried pickle which made them so delish. The Caesar had homemade dressing which was good but I wish it had homemade croutons or something similar. Our waitress was a little shy and was very busy.
