I finally dropped by here after reading so many positive reviews from my Vietnamese yelpies. Lien Hoa is a Vietnamese deli specializing in duck (roast or Peking), pork belly (lechon), and char siu. It is located on Bolsa near Bushard in Westminster. They offer take out only. I ordered 1 lb of char siu ($4.49/lb), 1 lb of pork belly ($10.50/lb), and a whole Peking duck ($18). First of all, the char siu was OK. I prefer a more crispy exterior and bolder flavor on the inside. LH's version is softer on the outside and blander on the inside vs what I prefer: 3 Stars. On the other hand, the duck was as advertised: Very good. It was smokey & crispy on the outside, and moist on the inside. Nonetheless, it wasn't as good as some of the places in Monterey Park: 4 Stars. Lastly, the pork belly (lechon) was also very tasty. The skin was crispy on the outside, and the meat moist on the inside. My only rec is more seasoning: 4 Stars. The ambiance is a take out line w/ a deli case. There are also baos and fresh chickens offered: 3 Stars. Secondarily, the service was surprisingly good. I forgot to order an item, and the cashier quickly weighed it and had another person cut it: 4 Stars. Now that 99 Ranch is closed in FV, Lien Hoa is my go to place for these type of items. BEWARE OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT. They sold spoiled roasted duck and salted chicken to my sister's in-laws (who are vegans). The roasted duck had a foul smell/ flavor and the salted chicken was far too tender to be fresh. Food is purchased in the morning and eaten in the afternoon so we know time is not a factor. We assume they deliberately sold spoiled food to them knowing that they don't taste the food themselves to know. They normally buy their food to give to other people like us to eat. There was an old Vietnamese busker playing classical music on a ramshackle keyboard as other families waited for this barbecued delights, so I decided to the pay the old timer considering that A) he's an old Viet dude B) he's literally playing for his wages and C) his piano playing could put Billy Joel to shame. So I gave him an excessive unspecified amount of cash. Call me sentimental, call me by my name, but maybe it was the Christmas spirit speaking through me. Either way, we waited for our meaty delights, asked for extra sauce, and galivanted back home with our Asian Thanksgiving meal. That night there were no jive turkeys, nor mashed potatoes and gravy. Instead there was a dead ass duck slathered in beautiful sauce, amongst delectable crispy cuts of pork drenched in sensuous, if not, rather sensual sauce centered on our dinner table. And we devoured those poor beasts while being thankful for them feeding our bellies. We ate well, and also paid homage to the native land that America stole from the Native Americans. New location! The place is located to the right of the old store, in the next lot tucked away in the corner. Parking is still a pain, but looks like there's street parking off Dillow if you need it. This is a traditional Chinese/ Vietnamese deli where you order cooked / roasted meats to go, and this place specializes in roast pork, duck, and soy/ salted chicken. Even if you don't speak Vietnamese (although it'll make the transaction easier) you can order the pork by the pound and the fowl in whole or half. The food is priced per pound, and you pay the cashier (cash only). They also sell fresh (raw) duck, goose, chicken and pig. If you're having a party, you can also order a whole roasted pig or piglet in advance. Yesterday I was craving the crispy roast pork and went to the Beach Blvd location after work, only to find out that they sold out on the pig, and all that was left was some asian style barbecued pork ribs and a few hanging ducks. Today I made it a point to go at noon, and even at lunchtime most of the pig was being sold already. There's various cuts of the pig: - Ham portion which is lean, white meat. While a healthier cut, it can get dry and not the most popular cut ($8.50/ lb) - Shoulder, semi fatty and boneless. ($10.50/ lb) - Rib Belly, also known as pork belly and typically sold with bone in ($10.50/ lb) I asked for the boneless, but got rang up as the rib belly. It was the same price per pound so that didn't matter. The meat was oh so tender and the skin was nice and crispy. The down side of ordering roast pig is you really can't keep it for leftovers, as the skin won't be crispy the next day. So I ordered just a 1/2 pound (they gave me 3/4, oh well) and had it for lunch. 4 stars for this visit. read more

The worker will ask for your order and you need to tell them what you want all at once then move on to pay while they will get stuffs prepared behind the glass counter. Roast pork has super crispy skin and is always moist no matter what cut we get. We were not fans of the Peking Duck here due to the way the meat tastes but the pork is top notch. The parking lot is tiny but I could find parking easily. Typical asian customer service, nothing new. Roasted Pig was super crispy and the juices of the roasted duck was delicious. I got 1 lb roasted pig and half a pound of roasted duck. This is the place if you want some yummy thit heo quay or vit quay. When you order, you just go straight to the cashier and pay. The butchers will cut up your meat for you and the cashier will bring out your order. Service was very fast. My mom loves to come to this place from San Diego. Duck - overcooked, chewy, and salty. Bone shards all over and not enough sauce. Despite picking in front of me, they switched half of my duck out with another. I called them out on the spot and got yelled at for looking at them. Really? To the owners of this location, keep grandma out of the frontline, she's losing you customers. What's Good: a whole Roasted Duck (Vit Quay), a pound of Roasted Pig (Heo Quay), and pound of Char Siu BBQ Pork (Xa Xiu) will be a great meal for a family of 4 or a couple with leftovers for the next day. If you don't specify a choice for the Roasted Pig, it'll be an assortment - ask for the Rib Belly (ba roi) for the good stuff. Don't forget the French Bread (banh mi) to go with the meats. The Rice Vermicelli (Banh Hoi) and Bao Buns (Banh Bao) are good pairings as well. All are found on the storage racks while standing in line.
