I came here for bun bo hue on a Monday because my go-to restaurant was closed. This place closes pretty early at 7pm, so plan accordingly! I called ahead to order a large BBH ($15) to-go and ended up picking up a small tray of banh beo and banh bot loc tran for $5 when I got there because it was discounted for end of the day sale. Unfortunately, I was not a huge fan of their BBH as the broth was too sweet, and the sate was not spicy or fragrant enough for my liking. The pork patty and shrimp patty were really flavorful and well-done, though. The banh beo and banh bot loc tran were both pretty good as well. I might come back for the cha (meat patties) or appetizers but probably not for the BBH. read more

My Vietnamese friends had us pick them up some bun bo hue here. I cane to get the snacks/appetizers. Every day, they put out different types of appetizers/snacks, all packaged up for you to choose from. They keep the skin on their banh bot loc (clear shrimp dumplings) tho so my kids aren't a fan of theirs. They prefer Lien 3's version. Service is always good, but the language barrier can be challenging at times. That said, we've never had issues ordering--except for one time when we accidentally ordered a whole party platter instead of a smaller plate. It's not the most attractive restaurant to eat at. Quick, easy parking, but doesn't hit the spot. I'm only writing this so I can remind myself to pick a different location for banh bot loc. Service was great, they were really nice. I was looking forward to enjoying the food but the fish sauce lacked in complimenting the bath bot loc even when I added the chili. I forced myself to eat it cause every time I head to this Viet area from the bay area, I try to find a location and buy an abundance of banh bot loc to freeze. I was aggressively craving some BBH after a Halloween night. I needed some hearty broth to help with my hangover. My aunt suggested we go here and I'm so glad. It's very limited seating as most people order to go. The bun Bo hue was rich in flavor and hearty. The meat was all that I wanted- 5/5. We ordered and banh beo on the side. I would have preferred it in the little dishes but again this place is to go so they set it up on one dish. These were also really good - 4/5. They also gave us each that yellow liquid in a cup. Easy to ordered Togo. Ordered ahead for easy pick up service. I ordered the Banh Cuon Thit Nuong. Very tasty which comes with their house sauce. It's $2 a piece and I ordered 10 pieces. My husband devoured this dishes and loves it. Also ordered a large Bun Bo Hue, I believe it was $14 for large bowl. Tastes pretty good and I can taste they put shrimp paste in it. I also order Banh nam which is shrimp with mincemeat pork wrapped in banana leaf. I really missed this so had to ordered it. It hit the spot but I am used to the minced pork only without the shrimp with Banh nam. Ambiance is a pick and go place. There are some tables for dining in but I don't see people dining in. The worst customer service I had ever been to. Forgot to pick up my order and they never called to give me a notice of forgotten item. When called back a lady said they did call multiple times which was a big lie. Asked for store credit and pick up a week later since I live far away but they said that they could not hold it for long and it must be picked up within a day. When someone I asked to go back and pick up the elderly lady said they needed time to make a new one--so apparently the one I ordered had been sold. What a pathetic excuse! I've only started eating bun bo hue the last few years thanks to my husband expanding my palate although I love Vietnamese food. I've tried LH2 a few times but going back recently to eat their bun bo hue was amazing. Their broth is so rich, red and flavorful. They don't skip on the protein and condiments. They have thinly sliced pork shank with good amount of crabmeat and for a little extra you can add the shrimp cakes. The noodles are perfectly cooked and the onions, cilantro, and cabbage give it an herbaceous touch it needed. The portions are big and the price is fair. I finished all the soup too! For the price and how much you receive, this place is def one of the best BBH places I've ever had. We've also tried their beef wraps and banh canh and that was also very good. Recently ordered from BBH togo because a friend recommended it. I got a large bowl and it was listed at $13 a bowl. I do love how it came with so much fresh veggies, it had a variety of herbs I don't usually see with BBH so that was nice. Meat was semi tender, noodles were soft and puffy, the shrimp and fish/meat ball was tasty. The pork piece could have been more tender, and the pork blood is always tasty lol. The shrimp/fish/meatball were HUGE and I quite enjoyed that. The broth itself was ok, but I was missing more of the spice spice if you know what I mean. Comparing it to the other popular BBH place, I think this one lacks that dimension, that extra essence. Growing up as a kid, I frequent this plaza a lot and would wander in and out of all the stores. This place has been here forever and it has changed throughout the years. I remember when it was just a strict togo place, but now they have added tables and you can dine in as well. I'm glad to see this place still surviving after all these years. When I went to go order my food, a few people came in to order party trays etc. If you're an avid BBH lover like myself, and want to try all the ones in the area, I would give this one a try. It lacks flavor of BBH whatsoever. on top of that, I initially ordered 1 bowl, and later wanted to change to one pot (which you need to bring your own pot btw), but they refused to combine and made us ordered the two separately. Definitely some of the best BBH (bun bo hue) I've had! It comes out piping hot and while at a glance it may not seem like much, the portions are actually pretty hefty. The fish ball things were meaty and packed with flavor too. $7 for a large bowl was definitely reasonable in my book. The vegetables that came with the meal was fresh and crisp. My girlfriend's banh canh was good, but the noodles were wayyy over done. The broth was good though, but it was just basically drinking soup at that point. This is my second favorite place for bun bo hue. The cha here is SO good for the price - large and nicely flavored and addicting! By far my favorite BBH cha anywhere. I also stop by here to get the cha hue loaf for my mom since she loves it. The broth is absolutely great for the price, and pretty consistent! I've gone to numerous other places (all more expensive too) and their broth is average or blander. It IS on the sweeter side and the flavor isn't as rich as my favorite place, but it's still very delicious to eat as is. I'll add a bit of mam ruot and fish sauce if it's a bit blander than what they usually offer. I also appreciate that they give you a lot of veggies on the side! One of the best bún bò Hu (spicy beef vermicelli soup) out in Bolsa. The bowl comes filled with a generous portion of beef shank, pork paste, shrimp paste, pork hock, Beef blood cubes, and a nice dish of traditional Vietnamese veggies to accommodate. The noodles are cooked al dente, and the broth is perfect. Has the perfect balance of mm tôm shrimp paste and rock sugar. The broth isn't spicy at all but they have chili paste and chili sate set up on all the table tops. If you're like me and like extra kick, ask for t him Fresh thai chilis. They also have a variety of dishes that are also excellent like their bánh t tht nng (rice noodle rolled with barbecue pork, think spring roll but with a soft rice noodle wrapping )and their bánh bt lc (tapioca dumplings filled with pork belly and shrimp) in which they have two kinds available- wrapped with banana leaf and unwrapped. This place is more so a to go spot but you can dine in like I do. Although I have to warn you service is definitely your typical asian kind of service meaning they're kinda rude and if you don't speak Vietnamese, bring a picture and show them what you want. Majority of the staff have a thick Hue accent and are a bit on the grouchy side and will do the bare minimum. Meaning you won' get anything to drink UNLESS you ask. I normally go to the Lien Hue in garden grove and this weekend, went to visit this location for the first time. Unfortunately, compared to their other location, I feel like the food is subpar. I love the banh canh and bun bo hue from the other location so the chef must be different as the food here came out under flavored. Although this location was slightly bigger, the customer service was not great, even for a Vietnamese location. My husband went to pay up front and gave the woman a 50$ bill. She returned only 10$ instead of 30$ in change and he had to stand there and tell her that it was short. I had a feeling she did that purposely because he did not speak the language. Overall, I think I will be sticking to their garden grove location even though it's further for me. Better tasting food and better customer service. read more

The people working there had no customers and they didn't offer to help me. Food quality has room for improvement... The banh uot thit nuong was probably the best thing and the goi cuon chay was also good but all of the other items I prefer ordering at other places. My cousin likes this place and it was his birthday so I wanted to get him what he wanted, but in the future I am definitely sticking to Lam Van or even Huong Giang. Located a few doors down from Boiling Crab, this place is small and mainly for to-go catering orders. Parking is available, but I could see it being super packed on weekends. You can order some dishes for dine in but it's not really that kind of place. We picked up my favorites: Goi Ngo Sen (lotus root salad) and small order of Bahn Beo. Reasonably priced and fresh.
