Still the best in Leesburg. Chef and her team have navigated through COVID like champions. We've ordered curbside 8 or more times, the food has been fresh, packaged perfectly to keep hot and cold appropriately, and ready when promised. The gazpacho earlier this summer was truly amazing, the steak salad always a treat, and oh the filet is very, very good. The zucchini fries as well can't be beat. Ms. Whitmer, On behalf of my wife, after receipt of an auto email asking how we enjoyed our dining experience, she asked me to respond to your outreach with what is unfortunately a disappointing report of our experience Saturday night. - The waiter although pleasant, must have been overbooked, as he was not attentive. - Had to flag down a table server for salt/pepper - One of our meals was ordered as the salmon salad, was delivered as a Gyro, had to be remade as the balance of the diners ate - Don't recall the waiter asking if everything was acceptable, perhaps embarrassed by the confusion between Salmon and Gyro. - Reservations noted a 91st birthday and a 6th wedding anniversary celebration, nothing was mentioned or offered for the occasion - After dinner drinks were ordered and delivered incorrectly as the waiter misunderstood the order, however neither order or the delivered drink were pronounced similarly - Never asked if we were interested in coffee or desert - Although not something you can control, the dining area was loud, making it difficult to have a conversation, which could have contributed to the waiter's multiple meal/drink errors - At one point I asked a table server if I can have a manager come to the table, with the intention of discussing our disappointment. No one ever showed. - The dishes were cleared by staff as we were talking, very disruptive and in the absence of the an inquiry for coffee or desert, we all felt like the table turn over was more important than our dining experience. - With the errors, one would think a reputable establishment would comp an appetizer or drink, be apologetic or have a senior employee assure us this was not the typical Lightfoot service, but similar to the over all experience, your staff fell short. Spending close to $400 may not be a large tab for your typical diner, and although the food was very good for the price charged, the errors and service was subpar and not worth the cost of dining at Lightfoots. A great number of local restaurants have great food for less, with better service. I sent this email a few nights after our evening with you, but never heard a response, hence 2 months later I was advised that your comment page may be a better and more effective forum. The food is so delicious!! I love the fried green tomatoes with shrimp and the lamb french dip. Hubby loves the fish and chips. The French fries are best ask for malt vinegar with them and you will feel like you are walking on the boardwalk eating thrashers. The ham biscuits are amazing!! The staff is friendly and prompt, drinks refilled as needed. Decor is cool it used to be a bank. Check it out and on weekends you don't have to feed the meter. read more

During our afternoon scenic drive through rural Va we stopped at what we took to be a fine dining restaurant in Leesburg. A lovely space in an old bank building, we were seated promptly and the server came immediately. After perusing the menu and considering the specials we each ordered s glass of wine, she the Syrah and I a Pinot noir. Both were quite acceptable. We started with a ham biscuits appetizer that was quite delicious. Fresh and tender biscuits with a nicely sweet ham preparation. We eagerly awaited our entrees. Alas, double disappointment. We both ordered the flank steak salad. As they arrived they made a nice presentation with a heaping pile of crispy fried onions on top. Unfortunately, my medium rare came out medium well. I asked for a redo and the server took it back. As my wife, Mrs. well done, began eating she found it very chewy. As I inspected her meat, it was clearly not sliced across the grain. Of course incorrectly sliced meat would be chewy. I called the server over again and pointed out the issue and he obliged by taking it back. A few minutes later a representative from the kitchen came to our table and said that, although it WAS sliced correctly they would remake the meal. The 2nd tries came and, while my steak was cooked properly, they were both still sliced with the grain running lengthwise. A flank steak is tender when sliced across the grain and tough when improperly done. We settled for what we received and tried anyway. The steak also turned out to be under seasoned. In an establishment that doesn't put salt and pepper on the table, you expect the kitchen to properly season the food. Another fail. The salad itself was fine, the crispy fried onions were a nice touch. The waiter attempted to appease us with complimentary desert. My wife had enough, I had the berries and whipped cream. Seems simple enough. The berries were nice and fresh and ripe. The whipped cream however was stiff as to approach butter. Unsweetened...I can only say a fair at best attempt. While they adjusted our bill to try to save some face, I would rather pay for a meal that was properly prepared and plated. read more

My husband and I came here for dinner a few days ago and had a decent meal. We really enjoyed The Plank appetizer and the Salmon Salad Entree. The rolls we got at the beginning of the meal were also pretty fantastic and fresh! The Duck Entree, however, was disappointing. The Brussels Sprouts and gnocchi weren't cooked correctly, and we weren't given a sharp knife to cut the duck. I called to make a reservation for a late lunch. It's St Patrick's day so I figured they'd be busy and we'd need one. Their online reservation thing wasn't working so we thought we'd call. Let me first preface by saying having a machine pickup calls to tell guests all kinds of information we don't need know before a human is bothered to answer it is obnoxious. Just answer the phone. You're going to need to eventually anyway so it's not worth pissing people off who just need to make a reservation. I tried pressing 0 to bypass that but it confused the system so badly I had to hang up and call back. After listening again to the list of what they really need me to know before assisting with a reservation it finally rang. And rang and rang then went into voicemail. I said "Its unbelievable you don't just answer your phone" Turned to my friend and said "WTF"? as I hung up. We decided to go elsewhere since they're not interested in a working online reservation system or taking calls for one. While at lunch we get a nasty voicemail from someone at Lightfoot. They said they were busy seating someone when I called. Really? Come on guys... you need more staff at lunchtime if you can't take reservations while seating people for lunch! They continued telling me I was rude and that I don't bother to answer my phone either. Well excuse me. But I'm not a business and I don't need to take your calls. You do however. Taking reservations is the lifeblood of any restaurant. And if you plan on selling any of those $25 salads with a 3.5 rating I suggest you hire competent, less irritable, employees with a better attitude who are capable of answering a phone. read more

We walked in off the street on the cold evening on a Veterans Friday and the management saw we were Veterans and arranged for us to get a back table. Service was busy but friendly and informative. First time at the restaurant. Walked in and immediately saw the safe area converted into a bar. The design and artwork had a mixture of turn of the century with French inspired themes. The dining area was packed on Saturday night. It was a good think I made reservations. Service was excellent and the food was amazing! From having a crab dip appetizer to surf and turf--- the food came out hot, well seasoned, and presentable. The dessert was probably the highlight since everything came with a cotton candy. Never have been anywhere else where this was added as an edible garnish. It was devoured in seconds and brought us memories of our youth as we ate it. My only complaint would be the open kitchen across from bathrooms. Not what I want to see going to bathroom or coming out. It would be nice if they put a door on it--- or a partition...just for aesthetics. read more

We've been twice now, both times for dinner. The first time we had really good food, but mediocre service. On this most recent visit we once again got mediocre service. For such a beautifully adorned restaurant with an amazing menu and all the servers dressed up, why would we get one that was wearing a polo shirt and wandered around like he was constantly confused? He read the specials (after we asked for them) from a card, while we watched the server at the two tables near us read the specials from memory, and go the extra mile explaining the entrees. Very little went the way it should for a restaurant like this when it came to service, it would be fine for an Applebees. The food on this visit was right on point! Prepared quite well! Plated perfectly and tasted amazing! The restroom (mens) was rather disgusting also. Not to constantly knock this place, as we really do like it, based on the menu and the looks and the building. We ate with friends last night at the Lightfoot restaurant. Food was very good but host that seated us was snobby and not very welcoming. We had been at our table about an hour and had finished our meal and just paid the check when a staff member asked us to leave because they needed the table. Basically we felt kicked out and it certainly was not done in a kind way. We have been there in the past and not mistreated but after last night we will not return. Our waiter was wonderful but some of the staff there need training on how to treat people with respect. read more

First visit here last night. Very neat building! We had a 7:30 reservation. We got there a little early. Our table was not quite ready so we sat in the bar for a drink. We were seated about 15 minutes past our reservation. They were packed! The food was really good. We were seated upstairs right next to the grand piano and guitar/bass player. I had the filet, my husband had the swordfish. Both were great. The tomato soup was delicious. We got a Strawberry Sundae for dessert that was a special for the night and it was fantastic. We happened to be in Leesburg all day today. We came in for a late lunch possibly dinner also. Little one had chicken quesadillas-kids menu but we added the chicken. $10. I thought that was high especially since the Peking duck quesadillas on the menu are $9. Anyway... I had the fish and chips, they were alright nothing special. I'm not big on to much batter and grease. My better half had the chicken parm sandwich, it was huge and again he said it was ok nothing special. Came here for lunch on a weekday and the experience was pleasantly nice. We tried the ham and honey biscuits appetizer. These small bites seem to be inspired by the Smithfield Inn's famous ham and biscuits. The Lightfoot version consisted of thin slices of ham and very tender biscuits. Three come with an order. We also tried the Better than Maryland Cream of Crab soup. The soup here is very luscious and rich in a delicious way. The crab comes in decent sized chunks and come plated in the middle of the bowl. This way, the crab meat can be swirled into the cream based soup by the diner. This method also ensures that the crab meat stays in chunks and doesn't get watered down by additional cooking in the soup preparation. A nice rendition of the cream of crab soup. We both had salads. SX went with the special of the day salad which had brie cheese, sautéed pears, almonds, fresh fruit, fresh greens, and chicken. I went with the Oyster Po Boy Salad. The salads here definitely are fresh, large, and presented beautifully. The Oyster Po Boy Salad was alright, but the presentation of the salad, such as the spiralized carrot made it extremely difficult to eat this salad in a lady-like manner. The fried oysters had a pretty thick breading coating and just weren't juicy plump. SX's salad was a much better choice. He was happy with his decision. He really enjoyed the flavors of the chicken that came with his salad. They have very nice selection of various salads, soups, and sandwiches for lunch. They have a pretty large array of daily lunch specials too, making it a pretty deal-worthy. Definitely will be back for lunch to try their other specials and hopefully get to see more of the interior. The service was nice, friendly, and accommodating. The only slight issue was that it took awhile to locate our server towards the end of meal for the check. The only thing I absolutely was not a fan of at Lightfoot is that scary butler statue thing they have by the hostess stand. My friend read the good reviews on Yelp so we decided to give it a try. When we first walked in we noticed an old guy just standing there until we realized it was a statue. We were greeted by smiling faces and were told we could wait at the bar until we are called. The bar area is very nice, the staff are all friendly and pofessional. We were finally seated in about 10min. The atmosphere is very classy and elegant. I noticed the majority were dressed up (as opposed to jeans/sneakers) but I did notice a couple wearing sweatshirt hoodies for dinner. Overall, I think you should look nice at this restaurant. Our server was great, he seemed tired but he remained professional. The entire menu looked awesome so I had a difficult time deciding on what to get. I will definitely come back to try out more dishes. This place is excellent for a date night. Enjoy! read more

I would not recommend the patio at this restaurant. It's right next to a large garbage bin and all I could smell was rotten food/dirty diaper. Service was very poor. We were seated with lunch menus when it was dinner time. We asked for a cocktail menu and the waiter left. Saw him talk to two other tables and then he came back and asked us what we wanted to drink again. I said I was still waiting for a cocktail menu. Then he came back with one cocktail menu. I'm not looking for the worlds happiest waiter but this guy did not want to be there. Also, At this point the garbage stink was so bad we decided to leave. Rolled into old Leesburg for a late Saturday lunch before going out to Tarara winery. Got a spot out front (free on weekends) and there seems to be a parking lot in the back. We weren't sure it was open as the entrance to the former bank wasn't exactly lively. We went in and were greeted at the front, even in shorts and jeans. Escorted to a nice table in the front corner, we were so impressed with the gorgeous interior and somewhat embarrassed by our very casual attire. No matter, the tablecloth was white and the waiter professional. We both ordered the cup of Not Maryland crab soup and, as Marylanders, must admit it was absolutely wonderful. Creamy, buttery, with a large scoop of crab. Fabulous, a cup vs bowl was quite sufficient due to its richness, and served in a bowl anyway! We couldn't quite lick the bowl. I had the duck quesadilla, and as a Peking duck fan, was quite happy with the large portion, even though it was an appetizer. Served with a little crunchy bean sprout salad, it was tasty and innovative. Mr had the Asian chicken salad. It was huge with lots of crunchiness on top. He loved it. Service was fine, the water/bus people were on their toes. We restrained ourselves from ordering the Lightfoot ice cream or their tiny ice creams sundae by vowing to return. On our last visit, the food was phenomenal. I had the Filet. My husband, the halibut. Really, an all around stand-out meal. It took 45 minutes to get a cocktail. One WHOLE hour to get the complimentary bread. To say service was slow was an understatement. We were seated by the windows. I ordered hot water just to stay warm. The table next to me wore coats for the entire dinner. My entree alone was $33 -- and reasonably priced for the quality. Wow - what a fun restaurant! It's in an old bank, and they're retained not only some of the internal structure, but much of the charm with their interior vaulted doors. Love the staircase leading to a mezzanine landing that has both dining and a baby grand piano! There are several meeting rooms upstairs - both large and small - which would be useful for business meetings as well as parties. This was my first dine in restaurant experience in four months and I felt very comfortable at Lightfoot Restaurant. We ordered the zucchini fries, which were fresh and lightly dipped, served with whipped feta cheese. My entree was the "grilled cheese" which was served on sourdough toast and marmalade. It came with a tomato soup that was a little too spicy and a Cesar salad. My husband had an omelet that he really enjoyed. The ingredients were all fresh and the vegetables are probably from a local farm, as they were bright and tasty! I would return for outdoor patio dining again. read more

The waiter provided excellent recommendations based upon our feedback. The food was presented beautifully and the flavor was fantastic. The pace of the meal reflected our timing.
