Was visiting my sister and her family in the area and stopped in for a late lunch. There were only two tables occupied in the dining room counting us, with no signs of life in the bar. We had to seat ourselves and wait for the server to appear. If you're going to be open, you need someone watching the door at all times; otherwise, close during slack hours. Anyway . . . We ate light with two salads, a bowl of Lighthouse's clam chowder and wine. We were pleased. The atmosphere was casual and quiet, and I got to catch up on the past couple years with my sister and happenings in the family. We decided to go have lunch while we waited on our room to be ready, it was the worst experience I've had in a long time. It was myself (4 months pregnant), my husband and my 14 month old son. We walk in and there is no one at the front to attend you and seat you. We waited there for a few minutes until finally someone came and sat us down outside. Once outside, there was one large table that was already eating, one table with two ladies who had arrived just prior to us, they had not been attended on yet, and ourselves you just arrived and sat down with menus. We waited at least 20 mins for someone to come to our time and at least order drinks or something but nothing.... probably 5/10 mins after we arrive and are waiting to be attended on 2 other tables sit down a couple and a man on his own. Both tables get attended to but we are still waiting. At this point I'm very annoyed, have already decided that the waitress will not get tipped anything, she has passed our table several times and has not once payed attention to us. My husband turns to me after realizing what has happened (all the tables that arrived after us have drinks and we still have nothing and a baby starting to throw a fit because he's hungry) and tells me "let's leave", I look at him and say "yes", we both walk out, there is still no one at the front to complain to and at this point 2 waitress sees us walk out and no one even comes towards us to ask if they would help in any way! I should've listened to the reviews. We stayed at the hotel and ate here for our anniversary dinner. Ambiance was good, water view was good, service was good but the food was just okay and was WAY overpriced for what it was. Had the burger, mushroom pasta, beet salad and tuna sushi appetizer. The worst item we had was the sushi. Best was probably the beet salad or the pasta. Everything was just twice the price it should've been. With a couple drinks each it was about $170 read more

Our waiter was great and the food was just okay. The hostess on the other hand was a little rude. She told us there was only one table available in the whole place because of reservations. It was a terrible table with no view and kind of awkward. Was there almost two hours and only two couples came in. Place was empty almost the entire time. While I stayed at the Hotel Bellwether I ate at the Lighthouse Bar & Grill. It was during the Chanticleer Book Awards & Buy the Bay Village Books book fair. First, the Lighthouse Bar & Grill catered the entire three-day event beautifully. The assistant manager and the personnel we all professional, friendly and on point with nice smiles and personalities. As for the Lighthouse Bar & Grill proper, I can say the same. I ordered the Lighthouse burger on my first night and it was very tasty and cooked to perfection. The next morning I had the Crab stuffed Omelette and berries that we on the house. It was served by Sophia and she also brought me fresh berries that were sweet and tasty. Thank you Sophia. Wonderful. The service was always with a smile and an engaging disposition. I am in great admiration of the manager who has surrounded himself with such nice and competent employees. They even hosted a late night after party get-together for the award attendees. I had another Lighthouse Burger on my last day there because I'm from Harlem, New York and I figured I'd miss the food, the people, and the ambiance. What more can I add but check it out! read more

My wife and I ordered off of the Date Night Menu and everything we received was absolutely perfect. The service was a touch slow, but never inattentive. Never had to ask for water or drink refills. We had: Clam Chowder - taste and appearance led us to believe that it was made in site. Some of the best we've ever had Caesar salad - dressing tasted house made and when paired with the capers, tasted great NY Strip - cooked to a perfect medium. Taste was spot on. Baked potato was what it should have been. A baked potato Gnocchi - texture was perfect and the goat cheese was a solid choice on top as well Key lime pie - no fake lime flavor here. Fresh berries on top was a delicious touch Beer nog - almost a milkshake, but not quite. If you like nog and actual beer (not astringent IPA garbage) it's a match for sure. Everywhere else in Bellingham could take some customer service tips from here. The customers should not be treated as if they should be thankful that they are allowed in "your" establishment, it should be the other way around. Bravo Lighthouse, great job. read more

Ok... I came here to fill my hungry stomach while enjoying jazz with a cool and fresh beer or two. But I sat there for an hour without being served and I left. This is how it went down.. I went in the restaurant and waited by the entrance, everyone was seated and I was the only person. So I waited there for a couple minutes and sat there for about 5 minutes but no one acknowledged me. The sign says "please wait to be seated". I went to the server who was wiping the table, and asked if she can help me get seated. She said I can seat myself... ok. I sat there and waited and waited to get a menu. Different servers were seating ppl, taking orders and what not. After waiting 20 mins I had to once again grab a waitress and get a menu. Then she never came back, and yes she passed by me multiple times. This time I asked another waitress if they had a full-menu and she brought it right back to me. Then she never came back to me. I mean how is that possible? If you grab a menu you come back and take the order right? The place was pretty empty too! Feeling ignored and disgusted I left the place when the band took a break at one hour mark. I don't know if they ignored me on purpose for some unknown reason but reading all the reviews this place sure doesn't have good employee training. read more

Four of us had Easter Brunch here and we loved it. The table we got was near the fireplace and also had a view of the water. Tasteful decor put us in the mood for a delicious meal. We all had something different fish & chips--huge portion, roast salmon- delicious, a Wagyu burger- cooked perfectly, and a Caesar salad. Each of us enjoyed the presentation as well as the taste. We started with a beautiful mimosa, perfectly prepared. With my meal - salmon, I ordered a glass of rose. To my surprise I was served a split of the most wonderful rose! Asked to sit at a table with a view of the music and on the water and I was told that there was a reservation for that table and I couldn't sit there. So they sat me at a table where my view was of the computer workstation for the staff. By the time I left no one had sat at the table with a view. Another couple came in and sat at the table next to it and they were allowed to sit there. I had asked about that table when I first came in and was told that one also had a reservation. Also I ordered a dish that had crab in it and I found crab shells in it. The food also gave me an upset stomach with cramping. read more

Spent our valentines dinner at the lighthouse. There were three couples and not one person was impressed. The valentines special menu was a bust. A small rib eye for two was served on one plate/bowl aside purple fingerling potatoes which tasted microwaved stale and hard. The rib eye was pre sliced snd covered in a gravy sauce that was awful. None of which was mentioned on the menu. When asking for a side plate as it was for two the waitress pointed to the small bread plates that sat stacked in the middle of the table. Carrots were served 5 min later on a small plate and were not anything to be excited about. The waitress didn't refill waters or ask if we wanted another drink when ours were finished. We have been to the resultant several times also had private dinners in the wine cellar and it just was not the same. Not sure if there is a new cook or what. Eating out is few and far between these days so I would hope we could receive better food and better service. We did mention all this to the young manager on staff and he just said thank you I'll let the chef know. Between my husband and I we spent $150 plus a tip on top with only two alcoholic beverages. Stunning View and Food One of the first things that you will notice is that the venue itself is quite out of date. Decor isn't anything otherworldly, perhaps not to distract from the views and food.    Service is proper and friendly yet dull. Decor & service aside we have dined 3 times thus far, in September, November (thanksgiving, with an outrageous amount of leftovers) and February.  If you're trying to document your meal, ask for a seat close to the window.   Or on the patio in Summer. Onto the meal - visually everything looked great.  Squash soup was warm with a soft salty blue cheese. Pork Chop was tender and juicy with brussel sprouts and bacon which are classic, the cherry sauce was an innovated addition. Scallops were perfectly pan roasted with an unexpected texture of light crispness from almonds and buttery chanterelles, the sauce was rich and it took everything in me not to try and clear the plate with my fingers trying to get the sauce of parsnip, which could be a stand alone dish. Pot de Creme, plated with style not in a traditional ramekin, instead enclosed in glass to display the creamy chocolate custard with in along with gold leaf and cherries none of my photos are worthy of posting. This hidden away little restaurant and bar is a place I love to bring people from out of town or on special occasion. Be it for lunch or dinner, the view is spectacular! Along with that, they have a wonderful menu that is quite reasonable. Their salads are fresh and huge, and they are happy to make changes that fit your diet. This place wants so badly to be really good, and really does try, but ultimately it just misses the mark. Steak was good, but the sides were all undercooked and didn't seem very fresh. Service seemed harried and unsure, even though the restaurant was practically empty. Jazz band was playing right inside the door so loud I actually had to shout at the hostess. Credit card machine was down so charge was done via old school flat machine. I wanted to try the apple pastry for dessert, but apparently the pumpkin mousse that goes with it just plain didn't pass their own QC, so the weren't serving it. Key Lime pie I had instead was ok, but nothing special On the upside, they poured me a HUGE glass of wine. read more

My Husband and I recently stayed at the Hotel Bellwether. We paid an extra $19 when we reserved our room for the breakfast on the bay package. This included a $30 voucher to be used at the Lighthouse Bar and Grill. The restaurant was very nice. I had the west coast omelet. The crab was generously portioned and tasted fresh. The omelet also included boursin cheese and avocado and topped with house made Hollandaise. It was fabulous! When we were finished, we sat and slowly enjoyed the coffee and the view of the bay. Went again to the Lighthouse Bar and Grill today for lunch. Boy has it gone down hill. When we were asked if we wanted bread, we said yes, expecting the great bread from the past, served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Not any more, at least day old cold rolls. Served in a basket with a napkin around it, a psych out that they were warm. Took one bite, that was all I could eat of them, ended up munching the breadsticks instead, so much better than the horrible bread. The meal was still good, I had the chicken quinoa bowl, everything in it was very tasty, however, the dressing was pretty boring. I ended up adding lots of pepper to the bowl. We ordered coffee and tea afterwards. Teas used to come with a small pot, on a saucer, a selection of teas, sugar options, including honey. Today a cup with a lovely tea bag and hot water. No place to put the used tea bag, and no sugar options. Good thing the view is stunning. I understand there is a new chef, get the old one back!!!! read more

Went at 10:30 this morning for brunch. Service was awful! Waited over an hour for food. One table walked out from the wait. We had to self serve for coffee. The manager gave one table their meal for free but not all of us who had a horrible experience. When the food did come, portions were small and cold. Very, very disappointing and will not return! I stayed at the Hotel Bellwether for 10 tens and ate almost all my breakfast meals at the Lighthouse Bar & Grill. They offer room service which was extremely convenient in the morning while getting ready and getting some work done in the room before going out for the day. The entire staff were incredible; very friendly and they came across genuine. The food was delicious, especially their desserts. I gave Lighthouse Bar & Grill 4/5 stars only because I am very picky about coffee. With two exceptions, the staff (not sure if it was the same morning staff each day) would make cappuccinos, when I ordered lattes. And yes there is a difference (both were offered at the bar & grill). Foam is not the only difference between each of those types of coffees. But I did get an actual latte on two orders . I have to say, whether cappuccinos or lattes, they do make great coffee! read more

If I would of had a bigger portion I wouldn't of ate it all anyways. Not worth the money when there is plenty of good restaurants in town.
