Check out the pic! The food is always fresh and prepped quickly. The place fills up but the service never wavers. First class treatment all the way! The Rocky Top is freakin' awesome! A quarter inch grilled slab of locally sourced bologna and chips and grilled onions on a fresh onion roll. I've also had the biscuit and gravy special. One of my faves! They also have a cinnamon roll that looked amazing and got thumbs up our crew. Nice! We always stop here when in town. Love the food, the service and the smiles. As we continue our Smoky Mountain vacation in our new Motorhome, we were looking for somewhere to have breakfast. That's pretty much a joke considering by the time we get everything put away and the dogs fed and walked, it's usually around 11:00AM. So we started out looking for a restaurant that had outside dining. Considering it was pretty cold, it was not that easy. We headed toward Sevierville and ended up at the Lil Black Bear Cafe. It is a tiny restaurant with a few indoor tables and wooden tables and umbrellas outside, a few blocks off the beaten track. We also have to consider if there is 30 feet parking for this new baby? We went inside and were warmly greeted by the staff. We were given menus and told to come back, order and pay. I had the bacon and cheese omelet with whole wheat toast and a cup of tomato basil soup. Dave had the Rueben Sandwich on marble rye bread and a side of potato chips. Everything was very tasty and fresh and we were happy we chose this tiny place. If you are in the area, eat at this cute place. It's a small place, but trust me, worth the wait. Not a place for a large group. Order the pancakes and ask what topping they offer. I got banana fosters, almost ordered the strawberry/jalapeño. Everything is made to order, and made from scratch, right there after you order. The owner and his daughter are the kindest people. 1000% recommend visiting here! We don't live close at all, but any time we visit the area we make this a stop at LEAST one of our vacation mornings for breakfast. So many of the Main Street restaurants that claim to have the best pancakes are basic compared to these! A total 5 star experience. We went on a weekday and there was no wait to be seated. They only have about 5-6 tables inside. So I imagine weekend or holiday would be busier. It was raining and we had our dogs with us and so I went in and ordered Togo, so we could eat in the car. CLEAN place. Ok, the important stuff... The Food is absolutely delicious. I ordered a fried bologna sandwich with a fried egg and cheese. Dude... speechless. Gooey, cheesy toasty. I saw a display of the pancakes and couldn't pass them up. Wow, thick is an understatement. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are very busy and very commercialized, but foodies know that the little restaurants off the beaten path are often the best. I loved my brunch here. Lil is in the name, and they weren't kidding! There's only 5 tables (maybe on days when the weather isn't rain and lightning, there may be a few more wood tables outside), and they had to stop takeout... which is understandable, because disposable containers and utensils add up and put a particular strain on small businesses. However, the energy when you walk in is awesome! The owner/head chef is heard throughout the cafe, seems passionate, and checked on me near the end of my meal. My server was also warm and made good suggestions, also checked on me to make sure I was happy (also suggested trying some house-made blueberry syrup, yum!), so I think the service went the extra mile too. Just so happens that I overheard a business meeting while I was there... I hope they don't mind me saying, but I think it's a great and healthy sign that more than half of their customers are locals and regulars. The food. I hadn't had pancakes in awhile, and here I found special pancakes. I hope you can see my pictures... INCH THICK PANCAKES! They didn't taste like eggs, or any of that gummy/foamy texture that you get with some chains, nor overly sweet or close to birthday cake ... these were just fluffy, and actually nice and light to the taste, but two pancakes like this is A LOT of food! I used a little extra syrup to make sure they weren't dry, but the occasional dry bite was still good. I mentioned the Blueberry Syrup? Definitely get that... for the queasy of texture (like me), there aren't chunks of skin or berry flesh, but it was finely and evenly blended. Definitely good for people who like the flavor of blueberry! The strawberry, coconut, or peanut butter cup pancakes sounded good too, but not my current mood I didn't get to try the Bear Claw mentioned on the sign outside and on their t-shirt merch, but I was surprised to read on the menu that it wasn't a pastry... it's a thick brownie (one or two layers) with cream cheese and whipped cream, sounded amazing. This was a complete surprise all the way around. My wife heard about it from a family member so we looked it up. It was great! The place is small and situated right off the road. Limited seating but we had no problem getting in. They played Christian music and were really friendly. The chef/owner was singing and carrying on saying different funny things. We originally came here 3 yrs ago when we were on our honeymoon. This is now a place we go whenever we go to the Pigeon Forge area. Leslie the owner is awesome and his staff is just as nice! Well, that was awkward. My extended family was on vacation together. 11 people in all. My brother in law walked in and told the owner we had 11 people total. We were told that he couldn't accommodate a group that large. Brother in law said we would split the group between several tables and be willing to wait.
