First, I ordered donuts for delivery and they arrived about 8pm, so they were likely NOT fresh. I accept this as normal for the time of day. The donuts were fine, unto themselves. Not remarkable but solid. The set we got- a set of 24 assorted donuts- seemed to rely on their toppings to make them interesting. They were in the same vein as Voodoo Donuts and had breakfast cereal as a topping as well as purple sprinkles, etc. The flavor for them was much the same across the board. Even the toppings didn't really add a lot of variation. So, they are okay donuts. I might have been happier if I had made my own selections instead of a default set made when I ordered. These would be fine for a single serving of one tiny donut, like brunch or a birthday party or meeting at work, I think. But, after eating 2, they feel redundant. So, choose carefully or use sparingly. read more

My colleague and I needed a small quick sugar fix to help us finish the day. We stopped by this place and couldn't make our minds on what to get, so we got one of each. It was a smart decision as we were able to try an assortment of flavors. My fav includes the churro, orange cream, Simpsons, blueberry, raspberry & chocolate drizzle, and maple. You could call Portland the capital of donuts. There are so many donut shops, so many varieties. From the "famous" shop with pink boxes that everyone will go to at least one time. To shops that sell more of a beignet than a donut (nevertheless delicious!), some sell great mochi donuts and they are so good even without gluten and a lot of mom-and-pop stores serving all kinds of fried doughs. And then there is The Mini Donut Shop. And they are damn cute I'll give them that. I first had this kind of donut when I was a child back in Germany and on the fair, there was always a small stand that dropped fresh donut rings into hot frier and you got them fresh out of the oil. So fresh so good. Unfortunately, Mini Donuts here are not like that at all. The first bite with excitement only brings you the taste of baking powder and sugar. They might be cute but they should also taste great. In my opinion, they did not the dough is all the same and when they were not freshly made (I got mine in the evening) a few of them even dried out and were "crispy" not a pleasant dessert. I ended up throwing away about 10 donuts since the overwhelming backing powder taste was not to bear any longer. I get it natron/baking powder is in most receive even when you can do it without any. But if you use it it needs to be a good balance - small donuts small amount of baking powder would be a good idea. The toppings were nicely colored and so much fun to watch but I did not taste much of a difference (in taste - texture wise there are sprinkles, Mable glaze, and sugar fondants) Sorry, I wanted them to taste great since I'll still be able to eat a "whole" donut a day with less sugar intake. But this was not a good choice. I'll guess the other reviewers can get ahead and over the baking powder push - but for me, it was only very sweet and that burning sensation on the tongue. read more

Just walking back to our car from a day at the Saturday market and found this random food court eatery place with this Mini Donut shop. Your standard flavors, but also included things like fruity pebbles, Ube glaze, maple glaze, and pink icing with sprinkles. If you need a good snack, these were great. The staff person was attentive and patient. There is a really nice wall for your picture needs, typical greenery wall with Neon light. Are these the very greatest donuts? Well, no, but they make up for that in their cuteness factor and variety of flavors! I can see these being great for a party or bringing in to the office. My favorites that we tried were the fruity pebbles, vanilla berry and classic powdered sugar. Some of the fruit flavors tasted heavily artificial (not that I was expecting much else with the colors). Had lunch at Pine Street Market and on the way out I stopped by for some donuts to take home. I've never seen mini donuts like this and it was fun to see the unique flavors. I got a random assortment of six, including peach, Simpsons (strawberry), some vanillas with sprinkles/sparkles, a chocolate, and a maple. All of them were really good and hit the spot. To put my review in context, I ordered via Doordash, so there isn't the option to choose your flavors or mention allergies. The donuts were very tasty and fresh. I do wish that their online menu made it easier to determine which ones had nuts, since my kid has a peanut allergy. But we were able to find enough that were nut free to satisfy his sweet tooth. Frosting was the best part. The donut itself was lacking flavor and honestly didn't really taste like a donut. I was so excited to try these as I am a big donut connoisseur. I could probably eat donuts every day. The dough just tasted like fried dough and that's about it. The concept is super cool as I always have a hard time choosing between donuts and know it would be excessive to get more than one. They are brioche-based donut with a thick, heavy dough instead of being airy and fluffy. Well, they are unique, but they are definitely not my favorite and they are quite expensive. They're known for creative flavors, but creative does not mean it tastes good. The famous Blueberry Bourbon Basil donut was so doughy and cakey (hard type), blueberry jam was too sweet and completely overpowered the subtle taste of bourbon and basil. The apple fritter was the same, just sweet, doughy, and nothing special. We also tried the Cointreau Crème Brûlée, it is a custard donut comes with an orange liqueur pipette. Because the blueberry donut completely lack of bourbon taste, we actually used that pipette to squeeze the liqueur into the blueberry donut. We had the coffee, they're just average, nothing special. Definitely a wrong choice I made.

The plants were welcoming and thriving. Blue Star was closing in 15 minutes so we sped over and luckily that half a dozen donuts still remained. Coming from the East Coast, my niece had never tasted Blue Star. She decided on the OG. I choose between the Blueberry Bourbon and the Raspberry Rosemary Old-fashioned. A difficult choice. The Blueberry Bourbon was tart and sweet in a fragrant and delicious way. It was gone in two minutes. Lee was amazing. Incredibly helpful as we debated which donuts we should take. He was patient and understanding and sympathetic and honest and in the end he represented the best kind of Customer Service: the kind that makes you want to come back.

The ingredients are upscale and the prices are steep. I am indifferent to the orxata glaze. The flavor is very subtle and I would not have known it was horchata if it weren't for the label with the description. My young daughters enjoyed the chocolate donuts, but honestly, they are happy with anything that has chocolate.

Walking in less than an hour before closing, we were surprised to see most of the items still in stock! We ended up picking four things to try: Vanilla Bean Kouign Amann ($7) - This pasty has a sweet yet salty exterior that's complementary in flavor rather than clashing. It's accentuated with a crunchy glazed and caramelized sugar layer that's on the sweeter side. The interior is interesting. There's a cavernous gap right in the center that's filled with a sickly sweet melted sugar syrup. It's unpleasantly sweet and very cloying. The puffed and filled area is large enough that it compresses the other layers so the kouign amann is dense. I've never had a kouign amann quite this sweet before. (3/5) Meyer Lemon Olive Oil Cake with Thyme ($5.50) - This cake is so moist and rich, thick and dense, fatty and rich, that it feels like I"m eating a slab of butter. I'm sure it has just as many calories too! It's quite sweet, although not nearly to the level of the kouign amann. Overall, it's just a really rich and decadent cake. (4/5) Blueberry + Vanilla Cream Brioche Donut w/ Earl Grey ($6) - The top of the pastry is dressed with a cream that has an unmistakably strong bergomot earl grey taste. I wish there was way more cream - there's essentially only a dab on top! The rest of the donut is filled with a custardy light blueberry and vanilla jam. It's not too sweet and has an excellent high quality blueberry fragrance, creating an exceptionally strong blueberry taste. The jam is not too thick and is somewhat syrupy from sugar. The donut itself is really soft and extremely airy. It's the fluffiest donut I've eaten in a long time. (5/5) Raspberry Rose Cruffin ($8.50) - This pastry has some fun dehydrated raspberries sprinkled right on top of a light and fluffy cream that's not too sweet. The cruffin base is buttery in taste and great lamination even when filled with the custard and rose/raspberry cream. This is a heavy cruffin that's very filling. (5/5) Twisted Croissant certainly does some some really delectable treats. It's one of my favorite bakeries in Portland!

My mouth is watering describing this now, a true sign I'll be returning to experience this delicacy time and time again. There are three locations of Twisted Croissant in Portland, and this is the only one I've visited. The interior has a classic Parisian bakery vibe, clad in white subway tile from floor to ceiling. The bakery case in front of the store is beautifully stocked with fresh pastries, perfect for enjoying with a cup of coffee or tea. However, be advised, there are only two tables in the back of their public space, so it's not particularly inviting space to sit and enjoy your breakfast. Given the location, I assume there is outdoor seating in the summer months, but don't quote me on that. Regardless, run here if you haven't been. These baked goods are worth the visit!

You can't miss the place or its other locations because the pink just stands out, even In dreary weather. The minute you step inside, the smell is just amazing. I like the idea of getting away from the traditional round shape or normal toppings. There are some crazy ideas out there but it doesn't surprise me since it's Oregon. There's a side door and window for pickup orders. And if you don't know what flavor or shape you want just have the worker pick. And remember it's all off the traditional path for flavors too. The donut was light, fluffy, and not oily at all. The flavor was as described and very pronounced, and overall, the donut was not too sweet. The last time I had Blue Star Donuts was about ten years ago and I'm happy to report that quality has not gone down: it's still one of the best donuts I've ever had. The only downside is a donut is $5 a piece. You're certainly paying an airport premium for the donuts here. If you're looking for a quite bite before or after your flight, I would definitely recommend checking out Blue Star Donuts.

Had a Blue Star shaped void in my heart until my recent visit. After surviving the TSA lines, my sisters wanted me to bring home some donuts back home to LA, and thankfully this is a prime location where everyone comes out from security. Staff were nice and understanding while I was waiting for a responses in the family groupchat. Got a couple, sampled them upon coming home, and they all enjoyed it. Yay!

If I had just had that donut, coupled with the friendly service, this place would probably be a four. However I tried there banana pudding donut and I was amazed. This is one of the best ones I've ever had. The banana cream filling was delicious, paired really well with the vanilla frosting on top. Vanilla wafer was just a bonus. The donuts were about three bucks each, which isn't bad for fancy donuts these days. Forget the other donut shops in town, give this place a try!

The Sid's Special was like a blueberry-filled donut, which didn't taste as good as the raspberry one. The Portland Cream was a cream-filled donut, similar to the Boston Cream. Credit card/Apple Pay accepted. I didn't see any available bathrooms.

Black sesame and jam - I usually love black sesame, but the combination with the jam was not my favorite. It's probably personal preference, but next time I'm going to ask for it without it. 4.5 stars. Strawberries and cream - compared to the strawberry yuzu, this one was a little underwhelming. Adding fresh strawberries with the cream would had been the way to go. 4.5 stars. Guava cheesecake - the Guava flavor was overpowered by the graham cracker flavor on this one. I think a straight Guava one would be amazing. 4 stars. Compared to pon de ring and more traditional mochi donuts, these had more donut characteristics and were much sweeter and less chewy. So glad we discovered this place!

I'm a huge fan of Lil Funky Donuts. Honestly... where do I even start? This place is AMAZING. Their donuts are always fresh, insanely delicious, and so creative, not your average donut shop at all. One of my favorite things is that they seem to rotate flavors often, because every time I go, there's something new. It makes every visit feel like a mini adventure and I'm always excited to see what they've come up with next. They also do custom donuts, which I'm beyond excited about because I already know I want them to match my birthday party theme in May. Donuts that go with the party aesthetic? Yes, please!! They keep it real simple and have a great white bread they put it on and, frankly, I can't get enough. I usually get one once a week or so depending and it never gets old. She seen how overwhelmed (in a good way) I was getting cause everything looked so good. She was very helpful, the place felt welcoming, and she made me feel deserving (which I already know I deserve everything) but it showed she had good character which is far more important for me. Highly recommend overall.
